About The Experience
Enjoy the comfort and solitude of your own country villa in the Perugia region -- with the convenience of a restaurant on the same estate! Spend days wandering around this lovely estate, enjoying the views of Todi across the countryside and cooking your own authentic Italian meals at this villa for rent in Perugia. When the view becomes too tempting, you part with this Perugia villa long enough to visit Todi, Perugia, or lovely Assisi.
Location Description

This residence is located in the countryside just a few kilometers away from Todi. In the heart of this town you'll find the Piazza del Popolo, the center of Roman life in ancient times. From the cafes that line the square you can enjoy a lovely view of the palazzos that symbolize both the civil and spiritual life of the town. The cathedral, with an original facade, dates back to the 12th century. The Palace of the Priors, located just in front of the cathedral, was built in the 14th century and displays a rather unusual example of medieval architecture. Other interesting buildings include the Mayor's Palace (now a museum) and the Palace of the People. Another local spot of interest is Perugia, notable for its ancient Etruscan town walls, still visible for long stretches at a time. Sights in town include the basilica of St. Dominic, the National Archeological Museum of Umbria, and the Piazza del Sopramuro, surrounded by several beautiful palazzos. Assisi, about 50 km from this villa, attributes its development primarily to the middle ages. The nucleus of the old city is protected by eight fortified entrances and wonderfully preserved town walls. Two castles sit up on the peak of the mountain, called the Major and Minor castles. Visitors with an interest in St. Francis will want to visit the basilica dedicated to him, as well as the churches of St. Clare and St. Peter. There are also many other churches and buildings which are simply gorgeous-- even for those not well-versed in architecture, the atmosphere alone of this lovely town is enchanting.

Nearby Attractions: Todi (Piazza del Popolo, Palace of the Priors, Mayor's Palace museum, Palace of the People), Perugia (Etruscan town walls, St. Dominic, National Archeological Museum of Umbria, Piazza del Sopramuro), Assisi (town walls, two castles, basilica of St. Francis, churches of St. Clare and St. Peter), Gubbio (Roman Theatre, basilica, Consuls Palace, Piazza Pensile, Pretorio Palace, Convent of St. Agostino, St Domenico). Tennis (4 km), horseback riding (10 km), golf (50 km - Perugia).

Customer Reviews

Highly positive experience.
Enjoyed Most:
The scenery is magnificent, with views of pastoral landscapes in an active winery and a breathtaking panorama of Todi, an Umbrian jewel. The owners are great people, very friendly and accommodating.
Enjoyed Least:
The furniture in the living room is rather sparse, and some of the chairs could be replaced with more comfortable furniture to enhance the experience. However this pales in comparison to the many positives offered by the property.
Surrounding Area:
We used the property as base for a long series of day trips, ranging from beautiful nearby hill towns to major urban centers like Firenze and Roma. The location was great for trips in all directions.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest small town, Ponte Rio, is within walking distance, and has small shops and bars. By car, it is even more convenient, a 5 minute drive.
Tips or Restaurants:
The property provides all the basics, except a clothes dryer. We hung our clothes out to dry after washing. The Antico Forziere restaurant, just 10 minutes away in direction of Perugia, was very nice find, but there are good restaurants all over, to include the Hotel Bramante restaurant in Todi, and the Hotel Cesia restaurant.
We used a GPS. Only initial point of confusion was which entrance of the two to take into the impressive property. After that, all was easy.
Check In Out:
Proprietors were very helpful.

Marco, August

Overall experience was good. The villa was located in a very remote area, but we expected that because we planned on taking day trips throughout the vacation.
Enjoyed Most:
Beautiful setting.
Enjoyed Least:
Kitchen and living room sparsely furnished. Living room had 1 couch and 1 hard chair settee. Kitchen had few amenities and some cutlery was located in the living room.
Surrounding Area:
Scenery beautiful, but very remote from anything.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Nearest town was Todi, which was not walkable.
Tips or Restaurants:
Owner supplied very old iron - bring one! Be sure to bring a cell phone, as there is no telephone in the house.
Had GPS Garmin but the roads to the villa were unpaved and unmarked and the GPS sent us around in circles before we found the place - I'd say accidentally!

Louis, October

Enjoyed Most:
Owner's hospitality.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ponte Rio is within walking distance.
