About The Experience

If you and your family have ideas of strolling through the Tuscan countryside, visiting hilltop towns by day, and maybe relaxing by the pool by night, this villa rental is for you. A short walk from the medieval village of Monticchielli but still secluded enough to allow privacy, this self-catering accommodation in Tuscany is surrounded by magnificent views. Day trips away from this villa in Tuscany can include Cortona and Siena!

Location Description

The farmhouse is located 700 meters from the nearest village of Monticchiello, which is home to a couple of restaurants, food shops, and bakery. If you're looking for a town that has restaurants, markets, shops, banks, a pharmacy, post office, and gas station, visit Pienza which is located five kilometers from the property. The history of Pienza (or Citta di Pio) is closely linked to Pope Pius II, known as the great humanist. In 1458 he transformed this ancient town, his birthplace, into a perfect example of architectural and urban design. Judging by the attention this gorgeous town still gets today, his ambitious project was a success, attracting visitors from all over the world. The main attractions include the Palazzo Piccolomini and the Duomo. Great day trips through the region are to the hilltop town of Cortona or the culturally rich city of Siena.

Customer Reviews

The view from the property of the Tuscan Hills was breathtaking. We enjoyed our visits to the small villages and Tuscany area. We felt that we touched the heart of Italy by spending the week in the villa after finishing the two week tour that we took. We would have missed the true Italy had we not spent the week in the villa.
Enjoyed Most:
The view.
Surrounding Area:
We loved the small villages and visiting La Forca.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Monticello and it was within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Lots of good restaurants
Check In Out:
Very easy.

Fantastic time spent in the villa and exploring the surrounding areas. Loved every minute of it.
Enjoyed Most:
Its proximity to the town of Monticchiello made it easy to walk for dinner and back home. It is a little hilly, being Tuscany, but that's all part of the fun.
Surrounding Area:
Close to lovely towns. Pienza was my favorite--up on a hill so the view from the property is stunning as you look back over the local village and Tuscan hills.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montichiello. Yes, an easy walk if you don't mind the gravel road and also climbing uphill back to the villa. We did it every day at least once.
Tips or Restaurants:
Il Porto and Cantina are run by the same family so give them both a go--BEAUTIFUL food at both!

Excellent experience.
Enjoyed Most:
The view and the friendliness of the hosts. Also, the fact that it was in a central location and convenient to nearby destinations.
Enjoyed Least:
The hot water in the shower had a tendency to get cold and then get hot.
Surrounding Area:
The beautiful scenery, the food, and the friendliness of the people.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Monticchiello was the nearest town and was quite a walk. We did not walk, but drove.
Tips or Restaurants:
Definitely La Porta in Monticchiello. Excellent food, great service, and a good wine selection. We recommend making reservations.
The town of Monticchiello was not on our GPS. We had to have the owner come and get us in Pienza and lead us to the property.
