About The Experience
The large terrace, landscaped lawn, and swimming pool of your Lake Garda villa all offer panoramic views of the lake and surrounding mountains. The location is quiet and private, yet close to the picturesque town of Torri del Benaco. For water sports and further lake access, the town of Garda is eight kilometers away.
Location Description

Property is located a kilometer and a half from Torri del Benaco, a small but picturesque town on the Venetian and western side of Lake Garda. The main square has restaurants, cafes, shops, and a weekly market. The Castello Scaligero was built during the medieval times and is now a museum showcasing local artifacts. The harbor in Torre del Benaco is the perfect spot for relaxing while watching the colorful boats come in. A ferry service connects Torri to the western shore of Lake Garda, which makes visits to other towns easy and scenic. The town of Garda is renowned for La Rocca that you can gaze at from afar or climb for incredible views of Lake Garda. For day trips, Lazise is home to specialty shops, jewelers, and art galleries while Verona, the setting for William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, is interesting too.

Customer Reviews

Overall:
In general we enjoyed the views, the grounds, and the space which allowed family to join us for a few days.
Enjoyed Most:
The views were spectacular.
Enjoyed Least:
The beds were firmer than we would have liked, the TV only received German stations, and the heavy summer traffic made visiting other towns difficult.
Surrounding Area:
The house and grounds were peaceful and lush although the outside furniture is worn.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Torri del Benaco and it was not in walking Distance due to the steepness of the hill and the lack of walking paths to the town.
Directions:
The directions were more helpful than the GPS.

Overall:
The villa is beautiful. It is larger than the photos suggest, and the view is magnificent and not quite captured in the photos. It was perfect for our family and kids who are 8 and 13 years old. I would not recommend it for anyone who has trouble with stairs.
Enjoyed Most:
The view from the villa.
Enjoyed Least:
The trade off for the amazing view was the accessibility. It was a bit of a feat to drive straight up the hill and into the drive of the villa, but it was worth it for the views.
Surrounding Area:
We loved going into Torri for strolls and lakeside dinners. We also enjoyed going up to Torbole to windsurf and Bardolino is also a lovely town to explore. We took the ferry across to Toscolano-Maderno, which was also lovely.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest town is Torri del Benaco, and we thought that 2.5km would be walking distance however, it was quite hot, and the walk was VERY hilly. So we drove.
Tips or Restaurants:
Every Torri restaurant was good. Our favorite was Ristorante Olimpo.
Directions:
We had to follow the key holder to the property because of the gates, but it would have been nice to have a little warning about the drive up!
Check In Out:
It was fine.

Overall:
Overall, we had an enjoyable stay at Villa Torri.
Enjoyed Most:
Beautiful view of Lake Garda, huge master bedroom suite, and the wonderful towns of Torri Del Benaco and Garda. The villa also boasts a sizable pool and well landscaped grounds. The location provides a centralized access to all of Lake Garda as well as easy day trips to Verona, Venice and even the Dolomite Mountain area.
Enjoyed Least:
There were several maintenance items that needed attention, especially the large holes in the window and door screens that allowed many troublesome insects to invade the villa. The steep spiral staircase and small kitchen/dining area was also an issue for us. Editor's Note: The screens on the door and windows were damaged by a powerful storm the week prior; all screens have now been replaced. October, 2014.
Surrounding Area:
Torri Del Benaco is a terrific lakeside village with numerous restaurants, shops and historic sites to visit. Tourists here were almost exclusively German as we did not run into a single other U.S. or British tourist during our entire stay. Nonetheless, we were warmly welcomed wherever we went.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Torri Del Benaco is about 1 1/2 miles from the villa. Assuming you were up for the walk, the 500 foot climb up a the neighborhood access road followed by an incredibly steep 150 foot climb up the driveway to the villa would be too much for all but the most hardy hiker.
Tips or Restaurants:
We enjoyed all of the restaurants we tried in Torri. Bring insect repellent, and an alternative access for the internet as the local internet provider for the villa had frequent "service outages". Also, the bed pillows were firm so you might want to bring your own, if possible.
Directions:
This villa is not easy to find. The only real clues are the white road markers near the entrance. GPS did not help too much.
Check In Out:
The young woman that checked us in seemed to be in a hurry to complete the process as quickly as possible and we felt a bit rushed during that process. Alessandra, on there other hand, was quite accommodating and pleasant to deal with.

David, September
