Customer Reviews

Overall:
It was a wonderful place to stay.
Enjoyed Most:
The quiet, the outdoor eating in front, and the pool! And we enjoyed being out in the country and a short drive to Lucca.
Enjoyed Least:
It was a bit hot in the summer but the bedrooms had air conditioning which is unheard of in Europe...
Surrounding Area:
We loved being in the country, the roads, the air, the view and a quick drive to Lucca.
Nearby Events or Locales:
San Leornardo In Treponzio was the nearest town with a market and bank. I suppose it was in walking distance - a mile or so but we drove.
Tips or Restaurants:
Barga is a beautiful little town in the mountains to visit.
Directions:
We used our GPS to get there.
Check In Out:
Armando was wonderful and very proud of his house. We enjoyed meeting him.

Linda, August

Overall:
We had a wonderful time at Casa Leonardo. Armando the owner was terrific. The house was gorgeous and the pool was exactly what we wanted. Nested in a grove of olive trees and and beautifuly appointed house and grounds, we felt very comfortable there. The closeness to Lucca was a real bonus, yet we never felt we were close to a city. Local restaurants were very good. We had a very, very good time there.
Enjoyed Most:
We loved the location, the house was a great tuscan villa, and the grounds were filled with olive trees, lemon trees and interesting plantings. It made you feel relaxed from the moment you opened the front gate.
Enjoyed Least:
Can't think of anything we didn't like.
Surrounding Area:
We were very close to Lucca, a spectacular walled city and many great villages where few tourists go to.
Nearby Events or Locales:
San Leonardo in Treponzio. It was a five minute drive but not really in walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
La Cantina in San Leonardo is a place with real local food, very few tourists. So many place in Lucca it is hard to pick one. Bring your bathing suit, the pool is so relaxing.
Directions:
Italian roads are so poorly marked, we almost expected this. We really should have done directions and sent them to you. We did use GPS and still needed help.
Check In Out:
Checking in was good, even though Armando doesn't speak English and we speak no Italian. Check out was the two of us sharing a glass of wine with Armando and finding a way to tell him how pleased we were with the house and our time there.

Gene, August

Overall:
Very good.
Enjoyed Most:
It was in excellent condition and in a very quiet location.
Enjoyed Least:
There are no opportunities to walk in the countryside.
Surrounding Area:
It is close to the historical town of Lucca, and within reasonable driving distance of Pisa and Florence.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest small town is 1 kilometre away but the road is busy and there is no sidewalk.
Tips or Restaurants:
We traveled from the villa each day and ate out wherever we were located at the time.
Directions:
Use a GPS; we tried finding the villa according to the instructions given to us and got hopelessly lost.
Check In Out:
It would have been helpful if the key holder had a knowledge of English. We got by OK but had no idea what he was trying to communicate to us when we arrived.
