About The Experience

This delightful Florence apartment is located in a lovely old tower building in Santa Croce. Clean, bright, and cheery, this short term apartment in Florence includes a terrace and is ideal for walking to all of Florence's attractions.

Location Description

This Florence holiday accommodation is located in a restricted-traffic zone in Santa Croce, one of Florence's most characteristic neighborhoods. The apartment is on the second floor of a palazzo built in the 15th century. The palazzo is situated about two blocks from the Piazza Santa Croce and the famous Capella dei Pazzi.

Nearby Attractions: The Santa Croce quarter is located on the southeastern part of the historic center of Florence. Since the Middle Ages, it was an area specializing in leather. In fact, today it is still filled with leather shops! The large Santa Croce Church, filled with famous frescos and tombs of some of the city’s greats, is the main structure of the quarter. The piazza in front of the church is filled day and night with tourists and locals. Some of the best gelato shops and restaurants can be found in this neighborhood. Piazza dei Ciompi has a daily flea market as well as a large monthly market (last Sunday). Plaz, located across from the 16th century Loggia del Pesce is a fun and casual place to stop for a drink and live music.

Exterior Description

This 15th century building was completely restored in 1996. It is a typical example of late medieval Florentine art. Each apartment is made secure with a door buzzer. There is an elevator servicing each floor, and there is a terrace (for use by all tenants of the building) on the second floor (if taking the stairs) or the fourth floor (if taking the lift). The reason for this discrepancy is that the ceilings in the building are very high, and some of the apartments are located on a mezzanine level between two floors.

Interior Description
(65 m2/699 ft2)

Third Floor (with elevator): The apartment on the second floor mezzanine (3rd floor if taking the elevator), has a double entrance from both the stairs and the elevator. The 1st level has a living room with sofas and a corner kitchenette, 1 master bedroom, and 1 bathroom with a bath tub and handheld shower. Ten steps lead to the 2nd level which has a twin-bedded room (the beds cannot be joined) that opens onto a small private terrace (10 m2/107 ft2). The kitchen is fully-equipped with pots and pans, a dishwasher, oven, gas stove, and fridge/freezer.

Customer Reviews

We three women loved staying at this apartment! It is in a terrific location, with very comfortable beds, crisp linens, washing machine, close markets, near many good restaurants and easy walking distance to a myriad more. There are many exceptional delights in this neighborhood: Santa Croce Church, yummy gelato, an international bike race (!), great shopping. We even had a morning serenade by strolling troubadours our second morning!! Loved every minute at the apartment!!
Enjoyed Most:
Location!! And, the multiple floors with privacy and outdoor patio.
Enjoyed Least:
Lack of English instructions for the washing machine. But, we did kind of figure it out!
Surrounding Area:
We enjoyed the picturesque cobblestone street, our magnificent front door on the amazing, renovated tower building, cheery pedestrian traffic with few cars, great restaurants/gelato, proximity to beautiful Santa Croce Piazza and Church.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were in Florence and found our street map easy to follow!
Tips or Restaurants:
The apartment was well equipped--with soap, shampoo, kitchen cleaners and cookware. They even included pasta, sauce, olive oil and instant coffee to get you started! The drinking water is delicious!
We had to walk from the train station due to the international bike race which cordoned off through traffic. Our Streetwise Florence map was great!
Check In Out:
The initial key holder was a bit tardy and I would have enjoyed better directions on just the washing machine (we packed light!), but, it all worked out! Check out was perfect!

Enjoyed Least:
No complaints.
Surrounding Area:
Great area, close to everything. Enjoyed the building the apartment was in, wonderful old building.
Tips or Restaurants:
The restaurant below the apartment was fantastic, we highly recommend it. Fabulous gelato right around the corner. There is a Conard grocery store within walking distance just a couple of blocks, that was wonderful. Great if you want to make any meals in the apartment and enjoy them on the roof-top deck!
Took a taxi from the train station, taxi driver knew exactly where to go.
Check In Out:
Our contact was wonderful, no problems contacting him and arrived right after we did to let us in.
