Customer Reviews

Overall:
The apartment was quite beautiful with an exceptional view. We sent photos to our friends and they all want to go there! We were surprised to find 3 bedrooms (we asked for 2) and 2 bathrooms (we expected 1). Also we did not expect a washing machine and a dish washer.
Enjoyed Most:
The view was spectacular!
Enjoyed Least:
The bathrooms.
Surrounding Area:
The town of Ravello was very enjoyable with the scenery, ability to take public transportation to other towns, good restaurants and nice people.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were in the town of Ravello but were able to travel to Amalfi within 20 minutes.
Tips or Restaurants:
Two good restaurants in Ravello: the Garden on Via Boccaccio was 4-star and Salvatore also on Via Boccaccio was 5-star gourmet.
Directions:
RentVillas arranged to have a car pick us up at the airport and that went off without a hitch.
Check In Out:
There were no issues with the check-in/out process. Be prepared to pay the security deposit in cash along with the cleaning fee and electricity consumption.

Michael, October

Overall:
Breathtaking! The pictures do not do it justice. Standing there looking out over the water and listening to the church bells and just relaxing on the Amalfi coast was wonderful. The town you see on the left is Minori.
Enjoyed Most:
The view, the view and the view. The apartment is spacious, clean and very well equipped.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing. I saw other reviews on the property which included issues with the stairs. Just be prepared anywhere you go on the Amalfi Coast for stairs!
Surrounding Area:
Ravello and the surrounding towns and of course the beautiful view. You can walk into Minori, but be aware of the steps, but that is for the most part the Amalfi Coast.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ravello is only 10 minutes away and there is a sidewalk.
Tips or Restaurants:
Small flashlight, good walking shoes, plastic baggies and we bring Woolite or similar soap and do laundry in the sink and hang out to dry! The apartment has a washer but it is fun to have a glass a wine, look out over the water and do some laundry. We have been to Italy several times and find it is easier to pack light and do clothes this way. Restaurant Cumpo Cosmo, Garden. Also, if you face the cathedral on the street to the left is a small "Market" that has everything we needed for the apartment.
Directions:
We had our driver call ahead
Check In Out:
No, it all went smoothly.

Brian, October

Overall:
Great.
Enjoyed Most:
View and location.
Enjoyed Least:
No WiFi (but we knew about that).
Surrounding Area:
The square.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ravello--within walking distance
Directions:
We used a driver, Maurizio Dipino, who was excellent.
Check In Out:
Local agents were great! They were very, very helpful, couldn't do enough for us!

Robert, June

Overall:
Very good.
Enjoyed Most:
The view is exceptional, as is the whole Amalfi Coast!
Enjoyed Least:
The 2nd bathroom shower is awkward to work with (lack of shower curtain); we taped the shower head in place and this made it more manageable.
Surrounding Area:
Amazing! Well worth the drive for the view! People were great, as they were everywhere in Italy. Such good food and experiences. We always ate dinner out.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ravello. Very representative of everywhere along the coast except for the very exceptional view we had there.
Tips or Restaurants:
I know others have commented on the stairs. I am 65 and use a cane for any walk more than a block, but tolerated the stairs pretty well. Listen to the manager for restaurant recommendations. We had so many different experiences. I am wondering if there is a bad place to eat in all of Italy?
Directions:
Our manager met us and took us to the apartment. Might be difficult to find on your own as you can't even see it from the car.
Check In Out:
They made it smooth and friendly.

Dennis, October

Overall:
The views were absolutely breathtaking. We enjoyed having our breakfast on the balcony every morning.
Enjoyed Most:
The property gave outstanding views especially overlooking the town of Amalfi and others below.
Enjoyed Least:
As someone who likes to stay connected, I was disappointed in not having access to WiFi.
Surrounding Area:
We enjoyed the hiking trails. It is a must to hike from Ravello to Amalfi. Make sure you have appropriate walking shoes. We stopped counting after 2000 steps.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Scala was the nearest small town. We hiked there and back. My only advice is to have appropriate walking shoes. The trek takes you up and down many stairs...
Tips or Restaurants:
As it is quite rugged, you are either going up or going down - stairs or rugged terrain, bring good footwear!
Directions:
We had a driver pick us up in Naples so we did not use a GPS.

Iris, September

Overall:
Wonderful.
Enjoyed Most:
Beautiful view and privacy and very easy walking distance to Ravello.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing - hardly anything to dislike.
Surrounding Area:
All the nearby fun towns and beaches.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ravello. As above. Walking distance 15 easy minutes.
Tips or Restaurants:
Lots of fun restaurants and stuff down at Amalfi. But Amalfi very noisy crowded and nice to come back to quiet Ravello. Don't plan on walking or hiking or biking along the coast roads from one town to the next. Very narrow very scary. Catch the bus which is hair raising enough already.
Directions:
Directions seemed OK. Local representative was very helpful with minor problems - which were very minor.
Check In Out:
No real problems. Local representatives very punctual and very good at picking up the phone or returning calls quickly.

Jane And Damian , June

Overall:
View was breathtaking! Hospitality was superb.
Enjoyed Most:
View.
Enjoyed Least:
A bit isolated from the city.
Surrounding Area:
Just being on the Amalfi Coast.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ravello. 12 miles.
Tips or Restaurants:
Lack of WiFi was almost a deal breaker. Although many places in Ravello have WiFi availability, going into town was required.
Directions:
We rented a private car through RentVillas so we didn't need to know directions.
Check In Out:
Seamless. On site folks were attentive and accommodating.

Angela, November

Overall:
This was our second stay at this property. Overall, we were happy with the villa.
Enjoyed Most:
Location to the village of Ravello. But most of all the most incredible view you could ever ask for.
Enjoyed Least:
There could have been more seating on the terrace overlooking the view. It only has one little table with 2 small chairs.
Surrounding Area:
Everything. We took the time to explore what there was.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ravello, it was about a mile from where we stayed and the walk was very doable.
Tips or Restaurants:
The coffee pot provided at the property is small; you may want to consider bringing one if this is going to be an issue. There isn't really any one restaurant that stands out. They were all excellent. The food, service and even the view.
Directions:
We hired a driver from Naples to take us to the villa. He called the Property Manager and she met us there. Since we had been there 2 years ago, we already knew where it was.
Check In Out:
The process was seamless. The property manager was very good.

Adele, September

Overall:
Relaxing.
Enjoyed Most:
The view.
Enjoyed Least:
We would have enjoyed having a kettle.
Surrounding Area:
The people.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ravello is just up the road.

Margaret, June

Overall:
Wonderful.
Enjoyed Most:
The view. Being close to Ravello.
Enjoyed Least:
We would have liked to have had an additional bathroom. The balcony was a bit narrow.
Surrounding Area:
Hiking. Exploring Ravello and surrounding towns. The food. The people.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ravello. A ten-minute walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
We loved Cumpa Cosimo as a dependable, reasonable restaurant.
Directions:
Barbara at RentVillas arranged for a pick-up and delivery at the airport. Excellent idea!
Check In Out:
No. Daniella was fantastic.

Alvin , September

Enjoyed Most:
Very clean, great to get first day's supplies.
Enjoyed Least:
Little hot, no A/C; they did supply fans. Difficult to park.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ravello; yes, it's within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
The Garden, Villa Maria's; you must go see the Villa Ciambrone and swim in their pool!
Directions:
Drove from Rome

Jeffrey , August

Overall:
Lovely! We loved Ravello, which is off the beaten track, and has incredible views and friendly folks. We were a group and it was easy to break off so that we each could enjoy our own interests. Two were new to Italy, two were experienced. Even our novice friends became comfortable in Ravello.
Enjoyed Most:
The view! The balcony was breathtaking. Also it was great to have the property stocked with food--enough for light dinners in the evening and fruit for breakfast. The groceries were a delightful surprise. We were expecting a fruit basket and wine, but got enough for several light meals.
Enjoyed Least:
The steps down to the door with luggage. Walk to town is gentle, but about a half mile. The non-physically active folks in the group eventually came round given the great views along the way, but it did take us by surprise.
Surrounding Area:
The music concerts, lunch at Villa Maria, the hike to Amalfi, the friendly shopkeepers. One of our group took cooking classes at Mama Agatha's and enjoyed it immensely!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Atrani. It is an hour walk straight down. But the views were great. We had lunch on the main piazza in Atrani.
Tips or Restaurants:
Villa Maria for lunches in a beautiful setting with music playing. Make sure you have dessert and wine - make the experience last. Take in a concert at both Villa Ruffalo and the new concert hall.
Directions:
The contact told us to take a taxi from Amalfi; it was close to 50 Euros and we were told to meet someone at the gas station. The taxi arrived first and dropped us and our luggage at the gas station, so we had a bit of a walk to the property. The bus would have been cheaper but would drop you off on the other side of town.
Check In Out:
The contact person called a taxi for us to take us down to Amalfi. The taxi arrived promptly.

Joby, June

Overall:
Wonderful property, felt like we had enough time to get a true feeling for life on the Amalfi coast.
Enjoyed Most:
View was fantastic. Arrived to find a lovely selection of food, enough for a number of meals. Washing machine was a plus. Antoinetta was very helpful when we had electric issue.
Enjoyed Least:
SITA bus connection returning from Amalfi to Ravello was often erratic . Unfortunately no English language channel available on TV. Very chilly first couple of nights. Learned not to use oven when any other appliance was on.
Surrounding Area:
Walked down different paths/steps every day, experiencing different small town and meeting charming people along the way
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ravello was a lovely small town and was not overrun by tourists. Everything we needed was there.
Tips or Restaurants:
Enjoyed home made take out food , sandwiches, limoncello , and help in very good wine selections at La Cucina di Sofi. Owner is charming English speaking young man.
Directions:
Arrived on bus.
Check In Out:
Antoinetta arranged for a driver to take us back to Naples airport and she came that morning for check out.

Charlotte, May

Overall:
Very good, good location, excellent view, walking distance to restaurants, and shops. Wonderful square nearby.
Enjoyed Most:
Quiet, great view, unique community.
Enjoyed Least:
No heat, large door would not close correctly, no shower curtain in one bathroom.
Surrounding Area:
Ravello is really a neat community. Much charm.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ravello was all walkable, and we did walk down the hill 1,000 steps, approx, to Minori.
Tips or Restaurants:
For such a small town, there were many restaurants.
Directions:
We did not use the directions as we hired a driver from Naples train station, which we highly recommend. Used Ravello Taxi Service which was recommended by the keyholder.

Dave, October

Overall:
Had a wonderful time - must admit we spent little time in the apt - didn't cook a single meal there! We spent too much time exploring both Ravello and the Amalfi coast and sampling all the wonderful food.
Enjoyed Most:
The views were incredible - even from the bathroom - I felt somewhat foolish standing and brushing my teeth savoring the views! Proximity to town and all the conveniences, including transportation, were invaluable.
Enjoyed Least:
The twin beds, pushed together, took a little adjusting to. Get the telephone situation worked out before you leave the US. We bought one there and IT NEVER WORKED! No English instructions.
Surrounding Area:
The walks, the hikes - everyday was a different adventure. We took a cooking class, went to Capri, visited Minori, Positano... but Ravello itself took up much of our time - the town, the historical sites, the shops and restaurants, the concerts...even the motor scooters we rented for 2 days!!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Walked down to Minori and took the bus back- don't do it unless your knees are prepared - took a couple of days to recover. Scala was a lovely little side trip - on scooter!
Tips or Restaurants:
Best food was Cumpa Cosima, Villa Cimbrone. Villa Maria was good, but VERY pricey - 32 for a gin and tonic! Stick with the house wine, which was very nice. See above note re: phones. My husband set up his iPhone before we left the US so we were able to send/receive texta as well as voicemail. Internet was not always available - even at the Internet Cafe. Definitely arrange for pick up from Naples - DON'T rent a car - driving is scary at best. We stopped in Herculaneum on our way back to Naples - so worthwhile and we found it more interesting than Pompeii. But it cost us a lot in taxi fare to have the driver wait - still, very convenient!

Linda, October

Overall:
Excellent.
Enjoyed Most:
The killer view.
Enjoyed Least:
It would be nice to have had an extra set of sheets and towels, as well as WiFi.
Surrounding Area:
Hiking up and down to Amalfi and swimming.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ravello is stunning and you have more peace and quiet then other towns.
Tips or Restaurants:
Keep space in your stomach for gelato!!

Lance, July

Overall:
Wonderful!
Enjoyed Most:
Location
Enjoyed Least:
Lots of stairs to get down to it, and very limited parking in the area. Noise from the construction going on across the street.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ravello is within easy walking distance. It is very quaint and charming.
Tips or Restaurants:
Ravello is very charming, but it is secluded, so most of your time will be spent in Ravello. It is not a good spot to use as a base for day trips, because of the long drive up and down the windy mountain.
Directions:
Should forewarn novices not to make the trip up the mountain to Ravello after dark.

Julia, October

Overall:
Enjoyable and relaxing. The buses to Amalfi are quite an adventure!
Enjoyed Most:
Location. Beautiful views! Wonderful breeze on the deck in the evenings.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ravello is within walking distance and has a great Piazza and little stores.
Tips or Restaurants:
Talk to your host about getting wireless internet access in the piazza. There is some association that you pay a fee to, and then get discounts at area businesses. it would be worth it if you are staying for a week or more.
Directions:
we had a driver take us there from Naples.

Dave, July

Overall:
Overall we had a fabulous time! Kudos to you Rentvillas! This is a GREAT value and we will recommend it to all our friends. The apartment has dramatic and glorious views from the extensive balcony that extends the length of the apartment.
Enjoyed Most:
Antonietta was great. We had all of the staples in the fridge and a few meals worth of food waiting for us. There was everything from cheese , fruit and wine, to pasta, prosciutto, cheese, etc. It was impressive after a day's travel from Tuscany. The common areas, living room, dining area and kitchen, are open and bright and all look out over the beautiful Amalfi coast. Also it appears that it must have been remodeled within the last few years, as the bathrooms and kitchens were newer and updated. Bedrooms were all well appointed too. The location was fantastic. Just 5-minute walk into town. We walked in on a whim everyday to super-charming Ravello. I was worried that we should be staying in Positano or Amalfi, but buses are a quick ride to both and run often. Also, boats run between Amalfi and Positano and it's quicker and cheap to use them. At the end of the day we escaped the crowds of both of those towns when we returned to Ravello.
Enjoyed Least:
There is only one suggestion I would make: Get an American coffeemaker. That little espresso maker just did not cut it.
Tips or Restaurants:
Michele was a fantastic cab/tour guide. I have been going to Italy for 15 years and he is the nicest and most Honest driver I have ever dealt with. He knows his "stuff" and will put perfect days together for you if you need. I only wish he were in Rome where I return frequently.

florence , June

Overall:
We had a wonderful time at Casa Blu, despite the weather that was cold and rainy half of the time.
Enjoyed Most:
The location is wonderful, and the view from the living room is stunning. There was easily two whole days worth of food, which was very helpful, since we arrived on Sunday evening, and were way too tired to start looking for stores or restaurants.
Enjoyed Least:
The hot water could have been hotter, and the water pressure in the shower was low.
Surrounding Area:
Beautiful surroundings, easy walk to Ravello and Minori. We would have walked to Amalfi as well, had it not been raining.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ravello is 10 minutes away walking.

Elena, March

Overall:
Excellent location with great views of the Coast and Sea.
Enjoyed Most:
Location.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing.
Surrounding Area:
Visiting all of the towns along the Amalfi coast. Mingling with the local merchants since we ate in about half of the time during our stay.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Scala was within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Villa Amore and Villa Marie were good restaurants. There was also a local pizza take-out with very cheap prices.

Mike, October

Overall:
Fabulous. Casa Blu was walking distance to Ravello, the views to the coast are amazing, we had everything we needed. It was really convenient to have the basic supplies provided on arrival.
Enjoyed Most:
The views were the best thing, and having a balcony running the full width of the property was great. Also being able to stay in comfortable accommodation for a week, make it our base, cook meals when we wanted to, and walk into the town for dinner when we felt like eating out.
Enjoyed Least:
The double bed isn't big enough - queen size would have been better. Fans in summer would be helpful.
Surrounding Area:
Seeing local people involved in their everyday activities, and also basically wherever you are you have great views. We loved visiting all the towns on the coast especially Positano, and it was great having Ravello as our base.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ravello is within walking distance, and it is a delightful town, with a great piazza where you can spend time day or night. We were there right at the time of their main fiesta celebrating their patron saint with fireworks and a parade.
Tips or Restaurants:
Mosquito repellent is needed in summer - also insect spray would be useful, otherwise we had everything we needed. Ravello has some very nice restaurants. We had an amazing meal at the Restaurant Belvedere in the Hotel Caruso - very expensive but worth it and eating on the rooftop garden with beautiful views to the coast was magical. A visit to Villa Rufolo is a must.

Jeni, August

Overall:
The Amalfi Coast is unbelievable and this property was wonderful overall. We would definitely go back to this villa and to the town of Ravello....it's not so crowded and much cooler than the beach towns.
Enjoyed Most:
The view and the service of the staff. We were greeted by two young people who helped us get our extensive luggage down the steps into the villa and then we found the kitchen completely stocked with enough groceries to last us the full week. We had breakfasts everyday and several dinners from the stock.
Enjoyed Least:
No place for your rental car except on the street where the crazy Italian drivers are. It was also a hike down many steps to the villa from the street, so not a good place if you're not reasonably fit. The beds were very small and narrow. The mattresses were good, but the master bedroom is a true double and the twin beds the narrow European type. It makes for more difficult sleeping.
Surrounding Area:
Oh my YES, the view was remarkable. However, you are really living with the locals and that includes their chickens, dogs, and Lots of church bells. Still it was great.
Nearby Events or Locales:
10 minutes to the prettiest piazza in Italy. Ravello has lovely shops, restaurants, and is known as the City of Music. There were three classical concerts in the town while we were there.
Tips or Restaurants:
The staff provided everything we could have wanted. The unit was fully equipped and they had instructions written in English for all equipment. They also had satellite TV, but still very few English speaking stations...just BBC World.

Ann, May

Enjoyed Most:
The property was spacious, the kitchen well equipped and the bathrooms clean and modern.
Enjoyed Least:
We were there in December 2007 and there were not enough blankets. Down comforters would have been perfect. The living room furniture is rather unattractive and uncomfortable and there was not enough lighting. The one floor lamp did not work. There was confusion over how much gas we used. Anyone who rents in the summer should know that the master bedroom does not open onto the terrace and that the only window faces the path to other homes and Minori.
Surrounding Area:
Loved the area, loved the people and the food.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The rental is in Ravello which is wonderful. Getting in and out is difficult. I feel that you would have to have a car for this location.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring any games or cards that you might want to play.

Margaret, December

Enjoyed Most:
The beautiful view! The property manager and her staff were excellent. They answered questions and were helpful in obtaining tickets and suggesting restaurants.
Enjoyed Least:
Lack of shower curtain in 2nd bath.
Surrounding Area:
It lived up to its reputation as being "bogglingly beautiful"! We loved the small, quaint atmosphere of Ravello!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ravello. Yes, it was within a 5 minute walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
I would definitely recommend this villa to my friends. It is completely ready to go.

Joseph, October

Overall:
Excellent stay....no complaints at all.
Enjoyed Most:
The view was overwhelming, and the property was clean, modern, and very-well appointed. It was close enough to Ravello to walk to town, yet far enough away from town to be away from the tourist parade. The balcony was a wonderful place to sit in the morning and have a breakfast of fresh fruit and cornetti, or to sip limoncello in the evening after a day of exploration.
Enjoyed Least:
We can"t think of anything we didn't like about the property.
Surrounding Area:
The property is located amidst vineyards, olive and lemon trees, flowers and cactus, palm and pine trees and a myriad of birds. Ravello center is about a ten- minute walk away and is THE most beautiful town we visited, by far. There are numerous gardens and small parks with views around the entire town. And it is not as touristy as the coastal towns down below.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Torello was a 15-minute walk down a lot of steps and a little longer walk back up those steps to Ravello. There is nothing for the tourist in Torello as there are no restaurants or shops, just nice views you can treasure all to yourself. Minori is the next town down, it seems thousands of stairs. If you"re adventurous, like us, we suggest the half-hour walk down, but, unless you are an Olympic athlete, we suggest taking the SITA bus back.
Tips or Restaurants:
We ate at three restaurants in Ravello. They were all excellent. Via Maria has outdoor dining with a fantastic view, excellent service and wonderful food. Il Giardino is similar but with a view from the opposite side of Ravello. Cumpa Cosimo is a more touristy, informal type establishment with no view but excellent food. Their mixed pasta plate was wonderful and the owner is quite a character.

Michael J., September

Enjoyed Most:
The view! Spectacular. The local agent was amazing...super helpful.
Enjoyed Least:
Not much.... a little noise from upstairs and from people walking past the front door down the stairs. Overall, not bad though.
Surrounding Area:
Easy to walk to the main piazza in Ravello and to catch the bus.
Tips or Restaurants:
So glad we had groceries bought for us in advance..... it helped a lot.
Directions:
We hired a car to pick us up at the airport.. a bit expensive but worth it. We took a bus and ferry back to the Naples airport which was cheaper.

Amanda, June

Overall:
The property itself was just great!
Enjoyed Most:
Lots of room, nice kitchen facilities.
Enjoyed Least:
Heating was expensive, parking was a little difficult.
Surrounding Area:
Great view!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ravello was a 5 minute walk with a nice sidewalk and fantastic views!
Tips or Restaurants:
If you rent in cooler weather, make sure you only put the heat on for a couple hours at night and a couple hours in the morning. We couldn't believe how quickly we went through the tanks of propane! The kitchen was well equipped. If you want to make coffee in the morning make sure you buy espresso for the coffee maker. Teresa will explain how to use it if you need help. There are many good restaurants in Ravello-I think you would have to work to find a bad meal! It is a lot of work to drive a car to Ravello. We never used the bus system, but if we were there in the summer time that seems like the way to go. It was a challenge to find street parking some days.
Check In Out:
The ladies are very kind and helpful. They were out for lunch when we arrived, but the neighbor across the hall called them for us.

Nancy , April

Overall:
We had a great time at Casa Blu - the apartment was great and really well appointed. The local rep was also very helpful. Don't think I have anything negative to say about our experience. We would be more than happy to use Rentvillas again, as we were impressed by the standard of the facility and the service.

Helen, September

Enjoyed Most:
Spectacular View. Clean. Good linen.
Enjoyed Least:
Steps.
Surrounding Area:
The Great Piazza. Ravello. The views. The Bus trips were an adventure.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ravello was just up the hill
Tips or Restaurants:
Good restaurants everywhere. Would be nice to have a BBQ on the balcony.
Directions:
We organized with the Property manager to be picked up at Salerno. Don't use a car as drivers are on a death wish.

Ian, June

Overall:
The local staff were fantastic - nothing was too much trouble. We had a brilliant time.
Enjoyed Most:
Excellent facilities. Perfect for walking into Ravello itself. Fantastic view of the Bay of Naples
Enjoyed Least:
The balcony is narrow.
Surrounding Area:
Fantastic scenery.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Amalfi. Within walking distance by 1000 steps so it takes a while to get back up again !!
Tips or Restaurants:
The apartment was brilliantly equipped so nothing to bring. Ravello has 5 or so restaurants all within walking distance. The best is Cumpa Cosima.

Alan, April

Enjoyed Most:
The view was spectacular. We also had many delightful walks down to the sea on different pathways through the vineyards and citrus groves.
Enjoyed Least:
The property is wired with too many electrical outlets so the power blows out easily. You cannot fix it by using the circuit breakers in the hallway. We ended up knocking on the upstairs neighbor's door at 10:00 pm with a pathetic "scusi", and they said this happens all the time. They helped us call the property manager as there is no telephone in the property and it is a long walk to a public phone. It turns out you have to get a key hidden under the statue in the hallway, unlock the power box on the wall outside of the villa and throw the switch, then do the inside circuit breakers. This was all in the pitch black darkness, naturally. This was not really difficult once you know what to do.
Surrounding Area:
The beautiful walks and views.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ravello, and yes, it was about 10 minutes walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
The apartment itself was well provisioned and comfortable. The walk down to Torello and Minori was wonderful, although a bit of a challenge on the return. The swimming was great at the beach in Minori. We were there in mid October and there were no changing facilities on the beach, but there is a public toilet in the town. The walk from Ravello to Villa Cimbrone and on down to Atrani and Amalfi was spectacular. We also took the bus to Amalfi then on up to Bomerano and hiked the "Path of the Gods". The scary part was the bus ride up there! It was breathtaking and took about 2 and one half hours. I would recommend hiking shoes or tennis shoes at a minimum for footwear. It is a regular trail, not a paved walk, so sandals were a bit of a mistake. Great restaurante right at the end of the trail to restore yourself!
Check In Out:
They young woman who checked us in and out was very friendly and helpful. She had up to date schedules for buses, ferries, etc. and explained how to use them. She was very fluent in English. We called on her several times with questions during our stay and she was very helpful.

Marcia, October

Enjoyed Most:
The size and the view. The view is absolutely stunning.
Enjoyed Least:
The noise late night and early a.m as people traipsed by the ont footpath. Also, renovations were being done on a property below us so every morning at 7"30 a.m. they'd arrive with their motorized cart hauling tools. We had to start closing our bedroom windows at night to cut down the noise even though we loved the ocean-mountain breeze coming in. Also it would be nice to have a more comfortable bed in the master bedroom - one that doesn't squeak.
Surrounding Area:
We loved the shops and food. The people were quite friendly.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ravello city center was a few minutes away on foot. Minori is about a 45 minute-walk down about 2,000 steps, but if you don't like stairs you can take the bus.
Tips or Restaurants:
This place was aptly stocked with plenty of dishes, towels, toilet paper, etc. Our favorite restaurants were Salvatori's and Cosimos.
Check In Out:
The local contacts were awesome. We arrived in Ravello and we met and taken to the property. We were given detailed information about the area and the property, including how to use the washing machine, which was so helpful.

Helen, July

Overall:
Could not have been happier with the location. We hope to return to Ravello and would rent this same place, again.. We flew into Naples and rented a car. The ride to Ravello was rather stressful. The roads are steeper and more narrow and the hairpin turns tighter and more frequent than in Tuscany. Next time we would travel by public transportation. The bus stop was close by with frequent trips to Amalfi, the transportation hub for buses and boats.
Enjoyed Most:
The view! Spectacular from every window. The local representatives were extremely helpful and attentive and also offered group excursions.
Enjoyed Least:
The public walkway down to the town of Minori was right outside our front door.
Surrounding Area:
Amalfi, Positano, Capri and Pompei. The beach in Minori - from the front door of the apartment it is 1,150 antique steps down to Minori and then a short walk to the beach. Wonderful opportunity for photos! Don't worry you can take the bus back.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Easy 10-minute walk to the heart of Ravello where there is a wonderfully active main piazza. Everything you could need is close by - bus stop, ATM, post office, taxi stand, bank, pharmacy, food shops, beautiful villas to visit, etc.
Tips or Restaurants:
Favorite restaurants - da Salvatore, via d. Repubblica, 2 Cumpa Cosimo, via Roma, 44 and Villa Maria, via S. Chiara, 2
Check In Out:
The local representative was very thorough in showing us how all of the appliances worked, etc. She also provided us with bus and boat schedules and plotted where the bank, post office, food shops, etc., were on a map.

Overall:
The property and surroundings combined to create a memorable experience and exceeded our expectations. Eating meals on our balcony was a highlight of each day.
Enjoyed Most:
The view was spectacular from much of the house, even from the bathrooms! It was easily accessible to the town center and to transportation buses and taxis with a short walk. Ferries were convenient to the bus route.
Enjoyed Least:
Having to leave it!!
Surrounding Area:
Stunning views abounded as well as shops, restaurants, and historical sites. We could use ferries and trains to get to sites such as Capri, Pompeii, and Naples.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Minori and Amalfi were both reachable by foot, but a bus would be more desirable for most.
Tips or Restaurants:
Comfortable walking shoes are a must. It helps to be in good physical condition. Any eating places on the square in Ravello are delightful. A more upscale dining experience is at Villa Maria.
Directions:
It was necessary to get help using the local phones in Amalfi in order to contact the property agent to make arrangements to meet her to get the key and be shown to the property.
Check In Out:
Very easily done. The agents were very pleasant and accommodating.

Overall:
We highly recommend this property. We were a group of 5 and were very comfortable and pleased.
Enjoyed Most:
Outstanding view down the hill to the sea peaceful location, very new and attractive inside, conveniently has a washing machine and iron.
Enjoyed Least:
There's nothing negative about the property unless going down and up 50 steps to the front door is a problem, but almost any home or hotel on the Amalfi Coast has steps. My only suggestions are extemely minor - a shower curtain across the bathtub would enable tenants to take a shower there without getting water on the floor. There should be small wastebaskets in the bathrooms and maybe the bedrooms, and an initial bar of soap in each bathroom would be nice.
Surrounding Area:
Ravello, for us, was the perfect town, much less touristy than the well-known towns that are right down on the sea, and yet it has an on-going classical music festival, with 3 or more small concerts per week, plenty of excellent restaurants, and a sampling of the same tourist shops you see in abundance elsewhere, and two beautiful old estate gardens to visit.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were practically in Ravello, just a ten-minute walk to the main piazza. Directly below us was Minori, to which you could walk down steps and path between terraced gardens in an hour or less. On the other side of Ravello, also up on the hill, is Scala, to which you can also hike.
Tips or Restaurants:
Not much needed to bring, since the kitchen is very well equipped. In two weeks we tried almost all the restaurants and didn't dislike any, but prices can vary. Our favorite was Trattoria Cumpa Cosimo, very lively, very friendly owners, and excellent food.
Check In Out:
Only a very positive comment to say that both Antonietta and Teresa in the local office could not have been friendlier nor more helpful and they both speak English very well.

Overall:
We'd rent again from all of you in a heartbeat....a very efficient and pleasant operation! The apartment managers were very helpful and their office is right near the apartment! The apartment was very clean and tidy when we arrived and we tried to leave it as we found it. So the security deposit process went very well....and gave us extra Euros to give to our daughter who lives in Berlin!
Enjoyed Most:
Ravello is a beautiful town on the Amalfi Coast and this apartment allows you to take full advantage of it! The view from the balcony was spectacular every day. the newly-decorated interiors were very comfortable and practical. There were enough dishes and silverware to eat pleasant dinners at home, for instance.
Enjoyed Least:
The TV needs Satellite or some form of better, world-wide reception for programming like CNN, etc. And a DVD player would be nice, since one often feels like staying put. Just looking out at the view would be enough of an Amalfi experience for most people, we'd say!
Surrounding Area:
Walking everywhere in Ravello and down to Amalfi was interesting and fun, but having the buses and ferries to ride really helped avoid the drive on those winding, narrow roads! Pompeii was a wonderful experience and easily reached from Ravello. Of course, the restaurants were wonderful and we never had a bad meal!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Amalfi and Minori were right down the hill from us. The apartment is on the walking path. But we do mean DOWNHILL by stairs, mostly, so this is not the area of Italy for those who can't manage a climb! I'd say that it's not particularly kid-friendly either, since there are no places to play or things for kids to do without supervision. But for parents and older kids or grown offspring like our 30-something daughter, it was great.
Tips or Restaurants:
The apartment had the amenities you need....great to have a dishwasher and clothes washer, although it took a long time for things to dry on the laundry racks we set up on the balcony! Compo Cosmos restaurant in Ravello earned our loyalty immediately and we ate there three times during our stay!

Overall:
We unequivocally recommend Rentvillas.com and would be more than happy to stay at this property, again!
Enjoyed Most:
The view was spectacular. The villa had most of the comforts of home, was exceptionally clean, well stocked, and secure, while being in a convenient location. It was all we wanted and more. The local staff were simply the best and always willing to help.
Enjoyed Least:
The smoke from residents clearing their gardens on the hillside below. The balcony furniture only for two, though adequate for sitting, were not well designed for long term relaxation. Also, we had to work to prevent the household doors from slamming, because it bothered the neighbor above.
Surrounding Area:
The town of Ravello is simply stunning. If one knew nothing about the history of music, literature or art, and struck out everday to explore another road or villa within Ravello, they would still be rewarded beyond their greatest imagination. In addition, the food was always good, often exceptional, and many meals came with incredible vistas. We took day trips to Amalfi, Minori, etc. Each provided unique experiences, good food and shopping opportunities. The buses are modern and riding them is interesting in and of itself. Finally, as water lovers, we were amazed at the beauty of the sea. The crystal clear, blue waters are inviting. We rented a small boat to explore the surrounding coastline, visited a restaurant that offered free swimming, and found a small cove with a beach, which was perfect for walking and swimming.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Minori was a healthy walk away. In fact, just outside our door the steps lead to the community path connecting Ravello to Minori. We learned that walking down stairs for an hour or more will teach you about muscles you have never felt before. But, we do not regret making the trek and were happy to ride the bus home.
Tips or Restaurants:
We felt the restaurant at the Hotel Villa Maria, the Garden Restaurant, just below the main bus stop, and the Bonadies Hotel Restaurant were all exceptional. We often ate a large lunch at such restaurants, with the exception of the Villa Maria. We dined our last evening there, after visiting Villa Cimbrone, which provided a perfect ending to an incredible week. We found the grocery stores of Ravello amply stocked with all that we needed for the week. In addition, we found the electric bug appliances sold at those stores do work well in the open-air environment of the villa.

Overall:
The local managers were as helpful as they could be. They seemed truly interested in making our stay as enjoyable as possible. The description of the property was right on. I would add, however, the bed in the third bedroom is a trundle, and would make the apartment suitable for 6 persons.
Enjoyed Most:
The location was stunning! Views of the bay, mountains and seaside cities were right outside the doorways and veranda. The apartment was immaculate and extremely well equipped. We were a family of 5 adults and the apartment and veranda gave us all plenty of space. Everything was new but the atmosphere was in keeping with the lovely town of Ravello.
Enjoyed Least:
Very little...the heating arrangement which we unfortunately needed is from propane tanks located outside the apartment. We had to manually switch from one tank to the other and then notify the agent who then notified someone to replace the empty tank. But that is how it is done - that comes with living as the locals do. There was no phone on site, so we walked to the agent's office, about 5 minutes away.
Surrounding Area:
The Amalfi Coast is one of the most scenic in the world. We loved the vistas at each turn of the road and there were very many. The ruins of Pompei and others in the area, Mt. Vesuvius, etc. were a short hour away. Capri was also very accessible but the weather and early spring boat schedule prevented us from going. One week is perfect for enjoying the sights with day trips.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Minori - and the walk took us down the stone stairs the townspeople used prior to the road being built in 1930. The views were great-terraces of lemon trees and gardens and grape arbors with the sea ahead. It took about an hour and we did take a cab back as the return was all uphill!
Tips or Restaurants:
The grocery stores in Ravello were very, very small. We went to the DeSpar supermarket about 5-10' away by car the first day and shopped. But the proscuitto, salami etc. at the little market in the Piazza Fontana was wonderful as was the cheese in the little shop two doors away. Buy plenty of bottled water as the town water was not suitable for drinking we were told. Making the first phone call was the most difficult thing we had to do - we were unable to get a phone card at the airport---tried two places, had to try twice at the Autogrill on the way, couldn't use the pay phone with our VISA at the airport, and generally took more time than we thought. A cell phone would have been easier! Lots of great restaurants in Ravello. We chose not to negotiate the mountain roads in the dark and ate in Ravello each night. The Garden, Cumpa Cosimo, served delicious local dishes. The restaurant in the Palazzo Sasso was a world class dining experience - expensive but worth it
Directions:
Be aware you're in Italy - the signs are in Italian! Look for COSTIERA AMALFITANA, not Amalfi Coast. The traffic is tedious off the Autostrada, especially in Angri - bumper-to-bumper taking 20-30' to go several miles. The mountain roads are VERY curvy and Italian drivers take driving seriously. Best to follow their style, keep your eyes on the road and pay attention. The coast road is lovely, but it took us 4 hours to make a 1 hour drive on a holiday. We were told we were lucky. The crowds of summer must make it worse. We took the bus to Amalfi and Positano and took a cab home. If you are prone to car sickness, take something before you head out by car or bus!
