Customer Reviews

Overall:
Fantastic!!! This was our 4th time to return! Loved it and love Claudia, Rudi and Simone!
Enjoyed Most:
The overall tranquility and natural beauty.
Enjoyed Least:
The bed is harder than we spoiled Americans are accustomed to! But "it's okay"!
Surrounding Area:
Everything! Easy access to geoceries, so many hill towns, Chianti, Florence, Siena...
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia... Super short distance but I recommend driving due to winding roads and no shoulder
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring outlet adapters and stop at the Pam or Coop in Poggibonsi for basic groceries, coffe, etc. The apartments have basic spices and cooking implements. We love to grill when we are there. Buy charcoal and starter.
Directions:
Easy to find with GPS.
Check In Out:
Easy, easy.... just get with Claudia if you need to check out the night before due to early flight. She is super accommodating.

Dana, October

Overall:
It was wonderful! Yes - we were on our honeymoon - it was still wonderful.
Enjoyed Most:
Hard to pick one thing. We ran on the roads through the grapes fields. Quiet. Claudia and Rudy made us feel welcome.
Enjoyed Least:
Leaving it?
Surrounding Area:
Close to small towns, castles, hiking, etc.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We are runners and hikers, so absolutely for us. Yes. You would need to walk through fields or on the side of a road. May choose to drive if you have a car.
Tips or Restaurants:
We found lots of places, but Claudia will help guide you if you want suggestions. We found things on our own.
Directions:
We used a GPS. We type in the coordinates because the rental car GPS did not find the street address. Easy that way.
Check In Out:
Smooth. Easy.

Craig, September

Overall:
We had a wonderful time at our home away from home! It was very comfortable in the apartment and there were lots of shady places to sit, read, or just enjoy the beautiful setting!
Enjoyed Most:
The location was terrific...far away from everything, but close enough for lots of day trips.
Surrounding Area:
Wonderful wine and beautiful countrysides!
Directions:
Used GPS, got us right there!

Maureen, May

Overall:
Totally wonderful. I don't think we could have found a better place to stay. Claudia and Rudi, our host family, were beyond great. Claudia speaks English, which was very helpful. We were invited to their "end of harvest" dinner as were the other guests from America and Canada. What a once in a lifetime opportunity to be a guest at an authentic Italian family dinner.
Enjoyed Most:
Our hosts, their wine, the beautiful views and wonderful local food. The location afforded us the opportunity to take day trips to many walled cities, each with it's own character and spectacular sights.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing!
Surrounding Area:
Beauty, food, friendliness of locals and proximity to Florence and to Siena, Voltara, San Gimignano and more. Wineries everywhere you looked. We were even close enough to visit the Isle of Elba.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia. You could have walked but it would have been dangerous due to winding relatively narrow roads. It was a very short hop by car and we found some great local restaurants that we enjoyed very much.
Tips or Restaurants:
Well equipped kitchen. You will need to go to the grocery or Coop to buy coffee and any groceries you may need if you plan to eat any meals there. There is a washing machine available but no clothes dryer. Most grocery stores aren't open on Sunday except the one in Poggibonsi.
Directions:
We just got WiFi with our rental car and used Google maps. Wifi was great because you aren't using cellular data for directions.
Check In Out:
Seamless. No problems at all.

Barbara, October

Overall:
Fantastic, wonderful hosts.
Enjoyed Most:
Pool and vineyards.
Enjoyed Least:
Nowhere to really go for a run but nice walking trails.
Surrounding Area:
Everything about Tuscany: small villages and great restaurants for dinners out.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The distance was walkable but road too narrow.
Directions:
Used GPS on phone. Car GPS did not work.

Jerry, May

Overall:
It was very peaceful.
Enjoyed Most:
A lot of space.
Surrounding Area:
Fast access to everything.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia, 1 mile away.
Tips or Restaurants:
Everything you need you can buy in Poggibonsi.
Directions:
The directions are perfect.

Irina, October

Overall:
Wonderful! Claudia and Rudi were perfect hosts...welcoming, warm and helpful. We loved learning about the history of their property, viewing their winemaking firsthand and picking grapes in their vineyards!
Enjoyed Most:
Everything! Grounds, view, our accommodations, and their wine room, offering their wines to guests on an honor system.
Surrounding Area:
The beauty and accessibility. Taking wonderful day trips to Siena, Montepulciano, Monticchiello, Pienza, San Gimignagno, and Orvieto. Also great to have market and cheese/bakery nearby.
Tips or Restaurants:
Just the usual on an international trip La Porta in Montichiello...fabulous food, wine and view.
Directions:
Directions were fine. We did not have GPS and did fine, but would have it next time.
Check In Out:
It was easy and efficient.

Mark, October

Overall:
Wonderful experience! We stayed at Vecchio Borgo years ago and couldn't wait to return! It felt like we were going home.
Enjoyed Most:
The location is perfect for short day trips anywhere in Tuscany. But when you return for the evening, the surroundings are so peaceful and beautiful. Claudia and Rudy are such warm, friendly and helpful hosts!
Enjoyed Least:
The bed was a little too firm for our taste, but that would never keep us from returning! The pros absolutely outweigh this small con!
Surrounding Area:
Being surrounded by lovely grape vines and olive orchards as well as the easy access to the autostrada and grocery stores!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia is the closest town but the walk would be a bit steep and dangerous. You must rent a car to enjoy this area anyway!
Tips or Restaurants:
Make a trip to the nearby Pam or Coop to stock up on coffee, bread, wonderful Italian cold cuts, cheeses and fresh produce. We would cook breakfast before leaving in the morning. So grab some eggs (so fresh they aren't refrigerated) and some pancetta or fresh sausage, too! One night we grilled steaks. Leave some time to relax on the property in the evening.
Directions:
Easy to find.
Check In Out:
Claudia makes check in/out quick and painless.

Dana, September

Overall:
It was an amazing place. The property was easy to find with the GPS coordinates. It was a quiet, clean, relaxing place.
Enjoyed Most:
It was a huge farm with vineyards, olive grove and sunflower fields. The property was well kept with a great swimming pool and great views from the top of a hill down to the town of Staggia below.
Enjoyed Least:
Loved everything! Nothing to dislike.
Surrounding Area:
Staggia was one km away for groceries and restaurants. The villa was on top a hill with awesome views. It was quiet and serene.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia. You could walk to it, but it's on a busy little road so driving makes more sense. You need a car there anyway to get around in Tuscany.
Tips or Restaurants:
The apartment is well stocked. Buy some groceries at the local grocery in Staggia to stock your fridge for breakfast.
Directions:
The directions were great. GPS brought us right to the property. No problems. If you are renting a car, you will NEED GPS in Italy. We would've been lost without it.
Check In Out:
We arrived a couple hours early and Claudia welcomed us as the property was ready. It was a wonderful, relaxing afternoon settling in.

Peggy, September

Overall:
Wonderful and beautiful. Claudia and Rudi were excellent hosts.
Enjoyed Most:
Everything--the location and the views.
Surrounding Area:
The vineyard, the people, everything.
Nearby Events or Locales:
I would not walk but by car it's 5 minutes to Staggia.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bug spray (Off), or you can buy it in town in the small grocery store, right next to cafe' where you should go for coffee (that is a must); I believe the name is Jelly Cafe. Ask Claudia--she will give you all the information you need about restaurants, places to see. All the food in Tuscany is delicious.
Directions:
No, we did not have one at the time we were driving, but the directions from RentVillas were perfect--no problem, at all.
Check In Out:
No, everything went smoothly.

Linda, October

Overall:
Outstanding, it quickly became our favorite "wine bar".
Enjoyed Most:
The fact it was a working winery.
Surrounding Area:
The old, quaint towns.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia--it's a 5 -inute drive.
Directions:
GPS is a real plus!

Randy, October

Overall:
Claudia and Rudie are the best hosts. Anything you needed they provided. Truely wonderful people.
Enjoyed Most:
The central location.
Surrounding Area:
Access to all the walled cities in the area.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bug spray.
Directions:
Yes, used GPS.

Don, September

Overall:
Wonderful! Claudia was so helpful and friendly. Overall, a great time and would recommend it highly.
Enjoyed Most:
Location, swimming pool, walking trails, view. I especially appreciated the wonderful service and hospitality
Enjoyed Least:
Water pressure was low. We would have liked our outdoor area to be more private.
Surrounding Area:
Siena, Lucca, Florence and the hilltop towns.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Less than a mile away, but you would have to walk on road.
Tips or Restaurants:
Tratoria in town, also a wonderful hilltop town within 10 minutes which had good restaurants.
Directions:
No problem with directions. Did not use GPS.
Check In Out:
Easy!!

Linda, July

Overall:
Peace and quiet - beautiful Tuscan countryside.
Enjoyed Most:
Location and convenience to everything in Tuscany - followed closely by the great hosts - Claudia and Rudy! They were one of the primary reasons we returned to Vecchio Borgo again.
Enjoyed Least:
The couch was not comfortable at all when trying to relax in the evenings.
Surrounding Area:
Vineyards, gorgeous views, wonderful people.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia - not really within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Try their olive oil and wine - wonderful!

Patty, May

Overall:
Amazing. Claudia and Rudy were wonderful hosts. The property was beautiful and well maintained.
Enjoyed Most:
The hosts. They were so welcoming and accommodating. The location was central to everything we wanted to see.
Surrounding Area:
San Gimignano, Volterra, Siena all less than an hours drive from the villa.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia. Go visit the castle. It would be walkable.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring in some supplies when you first arrive. There is a Coop in Staggia with everything you need. But don't bother picking up any wine-the villa is a winery and they have lots available for guests to purchase at very reasonable prices. And the wine is outstanding!!
Directions:
Directions were very good. Our GPS didn't work but we found it no problem.
Check In Out:
Very easy. They took us in even though we arrived early.

Ann, May

Overall:
Excellent property. The proprietors, Claudia and Rudi, were attentive to any question or request. During our stay we had fun walking on the farm/vineyard, touring the winery, drinking their wine and were even invited to dinner one night as their guest. We had a very good meal one night in Staggia where there also is a gelato store. The location is central to many hill towns. We also took two rather long trips to the west coast for a wonderful seafood meal and another to Perugia.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia is within walking distance. But one would have to be careful of traffic.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring a GPS. While you will see more of Italy without one, you will avoid wasting time as the road signs are not as plentiful as in the US.
Directions:
None. Not an issue.
Check In Out:
No, very efficient.

Mark, May

Overall:
The villa, the owners, and the views were exceptional.
Enjoyed Most:
The villa we had was very comfortable and the grounds provided a restful environment. There were sights to view from anywhere on the property. There were staff members tending the grounds everyday. Although we did not use them, the pool and the tennis court were appealing.
Surrounding Area:
The views, the lushness of the surrounding areas, and the nearby villages.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia was probably within walking distance although we drove.
Tips or Restaurants:
Don't overpack. We found a restaurant in the next village up from Staggia which we visited twice. The food was very good, the prices very fair, and outside seating.
Directions:
Learning how to drive in Italy in general is a challenge. We stopped several times for directions, which was difficult because of the language barrier.
Check In Out:
The check in/out were without incident. Claudia provided computer-generated directions to the airport.

James, April

Overall:
Amazing property, located in the midst of legendary Tuscany. This is a working wine producing farm with the warmest family running it. The location is very central--with a car each day can bring a new Tuscan adventure in neighboring towns, including Florence and Siena, or in Umbria with Cortona and Perugia.
Enjoyed Most:
The property is beautiful with sprawling grounds, a pool, laundry facilities and even a wine closet where you can buy their wine on the premises. The family is amazing. Claudia and Rudy are so warm and welcoming.
Enjoyed Least:
As with most properties in Europe, air conditioning is rare, and does not exist in this house. BUT... that is not the end of the world. Even in the hottest month of August (when we were there) it cooled down at night.
Surrounding Area:
The house is so centrally located that Siena (within 15 mins drive), Florence (within 40 mins drive), Milan (within 2.5 hours drive) and Umbria (within 1.5 hours drive) - are all within a day trip ride away. San Gimignano, Volterra and Casetellina in Chianti are not to be missed! With more time to explore, Lucca, Pisa and the beach town of Cecina are also great. Montecatini Terme has a fabulous hot springs spa that will ease away any aches and pains...
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia is the nearest small town and is within walking distance. There is a grocery store which is well stocked. About 5 mins away from Staggia is Poggibonsi, a slightly bigger town with a larger grocery store. But both are great, and food is wonderful, fresh and organic in both.
Tips or Restaurants:
Do not forget your bathing suits. The pool at the property is a welcome retreat after a hot day and a road trip. If you have neck problems, bring a neck roll; the pillows are firm, as is the bed. But after a day or so, you get used to is and it's fine. Explore the small restaurants in Staggia - there are 2 (One steak house and one pizza). Both are AWESOME!
Directions:
The directions we received were simple and easy to follow. We got there from the main road without any problems. Did not even need to use GPS.
Check In Out:
Check in and check out were very easy and smooth. Claudia is so sweet, you can't help but to cry a little when leaving. This is the kind of place you want to keep in your heart and memories and return to time and time again.

Jen, August

Overall:
Our stay was amazing! The hosts Claudia and Rudy are wonderful, and the property is very centrally located in the heart of Tuscany, between Sienna and Florence. All within 20-30 minute car drive.
Enjoyed Most:
The property is very relaxing, with a great pool. The kitchen is equipped with all essentials and upon check in, you can get a hair dryer. There is a washing machine onsite, but drying is el fresco (very European). We had a wonderful time and will definitely go back.
Enjoyed Least:
We had the upstairs apartment which was a little bit hot in August, but we were mostly out and about, so it was fine. If going in August (hottest summer month), note that there is no air conditioning but the nights do get cool, and the property has fans.
Surrounding Area:
Markets are very close by and great little restaurants are within 10 min drive in Staggia, Poggibonsi or Colle Valle D'Elsa. Must sees are Volterra and St Gimiano, as well as summer Opera series in Siena on Saturdays and Wednesdays (in June-July) and Saturdays only in August.
Tips or Restaurants:
This property definitely needs a car, as day trips to various Tuscany villages and towns are part of the charm of this location.

Jen, August

Overall:
Beautiful property. Everything was perfect.
Enjoyed Most:
The setting and the peacefulness of the property.
Surrounding Area:
Tuscany is beautiful, as well. The hill towns were each so unique.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia Senese - yes, i'ts walkable.
Check In Out:
Claudia and Rudy were awesome hosts.

Lesley, July

Overall:
We could not have been happier with the place, the owners, the positive energy, and the other guests.
Enjoyed Most:
The best thing about the place was the generosity, warmth, and kindness of the owners and their family. We were treated like family and felt welcomed and cared for the whole time we were there.
Surrounding Area:
We were able to drive to wonderful sights, most 20-60 minutes away. We even got a tour of the hospital just ten minutes away, due to a fall I took. The owner insisted on driving me, and did all the translating for me. It felt like having my sister with me. One of my favorite trips was to Volterra, one of the highest points. The views were amazing.
Nearby Events or Locales:
None of the towns are walking distance, so you do need to rent a car.
Tips or Restaurants:
Stop and buy breakfast foods, but there is an open room where you can get water, wine, and snacks. They also have a place to wash clothes, which was very helpful.
Directions:
We used GPS. It was very helpful.
Check In Out:
Check in and out was a piece of cake.

Jill, July

Overall:
Our villa was immaculately clean, spacious and comfortable. It was close to most all of the places we wanted to visit. The owners were marvelous and made us feel like family.
Enjoyed Most:
See above. The villa was great and its proximity to historical sites we wanted to see was a big plus.
Enjoyed Least:
Although equipped with pots and pans, etc. there are no spices, oils or other basic cooking items so you need to buy everything even if you are only going to cook a few meals at the villa.
Surrounding Area:
Location, location, and location.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Really not conducive to walking to town. We had a car which is essential. Closest town was Poggibonsi.
Check In Out:
Claudia (from the villa) is a saint.

Ronald, July

Overall:
We had a great time. Our Hosts Claudia and Rudy were very hospitable and friendly. Our first day arriving we were welcomed with a bottle of wine.
Enjoyed Most:
We were able to get wine anytime from the cellar, which was always open. We just logged the wine or water we took and payed at the end. It was very convenient. We also enjoyed sitting on the patio having h'ors d'oeuvres and wine with the hosts and other guests.
Enjoyed Least:
Can't think of anything I did not like about the property.
Surrounding Area:
Great view, easy access to other areas such as Florence and Siena.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia. It is 1 Km from the Villa. We were able to walk there.
Tips or Restaurants:
We did not need to bring towels or toilet paper. Even shampoo was provided. Wine is provided at the villa so no need to buy from the store. The only thing you need to bring is a few groceries.
Directions:
We had a transfer from the airport so it was easy for us.

Laura, June

Overall:
Outstanding.
Enjoyed Most:
Claudia, our host. Wonderful person.
Enjoyed Least:
It was all good.
Surrounding Area:
Easy access to many great sights.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Seggio Senese. Yes, it was within walking distance.
Directions:
GPS seems almost mandatory in Tuscany. We relied on it a lot.

Gregory, June

Overall:
Absolutely wonderful.
Enjoyed Most:
Location was perfect for exploring all of the Tuscan hill towns, including Florence and Siena. Claudia is a charming hostess, very helpful. The property itself is lovely, with great views of the surrounding countryside.
Surrounding Area:
Beautiful scenery, great little grocery store nearby.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia. It's within walking distance but road is not walking- friendly.
Directions:
Definitely use a GPS and get a good road map.
Check In Out:
Very smooth.

Scott, May

Overall:
Our stay was outstanding! Claudia and Rudi are exceptional hosts and a delight to get to know.
Enjoyed Most:
The apartment was charming and the surrounding area was just beautiful. I would highly recommend this property to anyone going to Tuscany!
Surrounding Area:
The proximity to all the walled towns was awesome!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia. You could walk there.
Tips or Restaurants:
Every restaurant has great food, from the smallest deli on. Just be sure to bring good walking shoes as you will walk until you drop. Recommend downloading the Italian MapQuest if you are renting a car, as signs and maps don't always match up!
Check In Out:
Check in and check out were simple and relaxed. Again, Claudia is a dream!

Carol, April

Overall:
Our experience exceeded our expectations. The property was beautiful and our hosts went out of their way to make our trip a good experience.
Enjoyed Most:
We loved the beauty of the countryside and the views from Montalpruno. The people were wonderful.
Enjoyed Least:
I can't think of anything I didn't like. The road down to Staggia was steep, but we did walk down to the town. Coming home was quite a climb.
Surrounding Area:
The entire area around this property is very beautiful. It is close to many interesting Tuscan towns.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia Senese is the closest town. We did walk to town. The road is narrow, so you must watch the traffic. It was a comfortable walk, but there is no shoulder to the road.
Tips or Restaurants:
We had everything we needed at our apartment. I brought a few kitchen items in case they weren't provided, but we had everything we needed including fresh herbs that Claudia had growing around the property. There is a good Pizzeria in Staggia right behind the Coop grocery store.
Directions:
We took a train from Rome to Siena. Then, since we didn't rent a car, we found a taxi in Siena to take us to Montalpruno. The taxi driver's GPS was not working, so he drove to Staggia and we called Claudia to give him directions. It was easy to find since they have a sign on the road marking the property.
Check In Out:
It was very simple. We checked in and they showed us around. They were available if we needed anything. Check-out was the same. We had a few wine purchases to settle up and it was very simple.

Linda, October

Overall:
Great villa on a quiet farm.
Enjoyed Most:
Central location.
Surrounding Area:
The vineyards and olive groves.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia - not really within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring a few key spices if you like to cook with something in particular.
Directions:
We did use a GPS.

Patty, September

Overall:
Wonderful. The owners were great and the location was fabulous.
Enjoyed Most:
It was centrally located to many small villages we wanted to explore in Tuscany. The views were great--looking over the Tuscan landscape was very peaceful.
Surrounding Area:
Easy 30-45 minute drive to all the villages in Tuscany we wanted to explore.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia was the closest. We didn't walk there and I probably wouldn't recommend it. It was handy for groceries from the Coop and there are a few nice restaurants.
Tips or Restaurants:
The owners had a few good restaurant suggestions which we followed. They also had a great patio with a fire pit that we used in the evening with a good bottle of wine.
Directions:
We had a GPS and highly recommend getting one. We used the coordinates provided which worked out great. I would not do any car traveling there without a GPS.
Check In Out:
The owners greeted us and made us feel right at home.

Julie, September

Overall:
We spent 16 days in Italy and 6 of them here. This was the highlight of our trip. Rudy and Claudia were absolutely fantastic and the facility is unbelievable.
Enjoyed Most:
It is so hard to try to say just one thing. The facility is well furnished and beautiful. the location is fantastic. Short drives to many great cities to visit. As much as anything, we loved just sitting in one of the several outside sitting areas, having a glass of wine and taking in the absolutely drop-dead views. This is far more than just a "place to stay". This is a once in a lifetime experience--a place to just enjoy "being". We have visited over 53 countries, and this was our 5th trip to Italy. This may be our favorite place. One evening, the owners prepared a dinner for all the "renters", including Tuscan food specialties and wine bottled right on the villa property. This was one of several highlights.
Enjoyed Least:
Beds were a little firm, but that is really trying to find something to fill into this section.
Surrounding Area:
The scenery is so very beautiful. We could drive quickly to anywhere, EXCEPT for the fact that we had to keep pulling off the road to take pictures.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia. Not walking distance. But a 2-minute drive. It also had a couple of very good restaurants. One night we even got some pizza "to go" and came back and sat outside with some of the other guests and had pizza and wine.
Tips or Restaurants:
My suggestion is to just let Claudia give you suggestions, and follow them. She really knows some great places to see and to eat.
Directions:
We used our GPS and it led us right to the entrance.
Check In Out:
This process could not have been easier. Just hand them the voucher, and Claudia does the rest. We arrived Sunday afternoon after the grocery stores had closed. Claudia provided some coffee and basics to get our Monday morning started without hassle. Unbelievably helpful.

James, September

Overall:
It was the perfect location for exploring the surrounding area.
Enjoyed Most:
The friendly people---the owners and the other visitors.
Enjoyed Least:
To be truthful, I can't think of anything I didn't enjoy.
Surrounding Area:
Proximity to various hamlets including Siena.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest town isn't quite walking distance but is only a few minutes by car. There are a couple of restaurants and Claudia, the owner, can tell you everything you need to know about any tourist destination.
Directions:
Only needed the written directions.

Wendy, August

Overall:
Awesome. It was all we had hoped it would be and more.
Enjoyed Most:
The people who run the property. Claudia and Rudy were so friendly and welcoming. The amenities, as described on the RentVillas site, and the accommodations were spacious and very clean. The pool was quiet and well-maintained. We enjoyed evening strolls through the vineyards and olive orchards.
Surrounding Area:
The scenery and local hill towns were wonderful. A new vista around every corner and over every hill. We especially enjoyed Volterra (45 min), San Gimignano (30 min), Montepulciano (80 min), and Greve in Chianti (40 min).
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia. We did not walk as there is really no shoulder on the road for walking, but it would be possible as long as you are careful.
Tips or Restaurants:
Book for longer than you think you want to stay, because once you get there you won't want to leave. The kitchen was well equipped, bring along a sharp paring knife, as that was the only thing missing. There was lots of refrigeration, 4-burner gas stove and even a dishwasher. Perhaps a microwave would be a nice addition to the kitchen, but not a necessity.
Directions:
We used a GPS to Staggia and then followed the written instructions with NO problem.

Brenda And Randy, June

Overall:
Our visit was wonderful. The owners are the sweetest, most hospitable people that we could have imagined. The accommodations are spectacular. The view is peaceful and wonderful. Its location is perfect for touring Tuscany.
Enjoyed Most:
The owners made the visit very special.
Surrounding Area:
All of the towns are beautiful and each offers it's own special atmosphere. It is easy to drive all around Tuscany from this location.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Bella Vista is the closest, but driving is better. The country roads are not made for walking. The town streets are easy to walk.
Directions:
We used a GPS.

Patricia, May

Overall:
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The accommodation was just lovely and the family was so helpful with anything we needed.
Enjoyed Most:
The facilities were excellent and the setting so very peaceful.
Enjoyed Least:
It is disappointing that you cannot easily walk into the village...the road is too narrow and there is a fair bit of traffic.
Surrounding Area:
It is perfectly located. We were able to take day trips to Siena, Pisa and Florence.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia Senese is within walking distance but the road is too busy to walk along.
Tips or Restaurants:
There are plenty of supermarkets nearby (Staggia and Poggibonsi) so we cooked all our own food.

Mardi, March

Overall:
Wonderful experience and great people.
Enjoyed Most:
We loved having Christmas dinner with the owner's family and being included. My kids loved spending time with the family and going out at night.
Enjoyed Least:
It would have been nice to have the wireless Internet working in the rooms.
Surrounding Area:
Great access to Tuscan hill towns if you have a rental car. Ideally situated.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Not quite walking distance to Staggia, which has a small market and restaurants.
Directions:
We used a GPS and it was useful. The farm is on a hill in a rural area.

Rick, December

Overall:
Very nice and relaxed. Close to all of Tuscany's best destinations.
Enjoyed Most:
Owners are on site and very hospitable.
Enjoyed Least:
Everything was great.
Surrounding Area:
Typical Tuscan landscape. Beautiful working farm with olive trees and vineyards and ploughed fields. Even perfect weather: no rain, sunny and warm.
Tips or Restaurants:
All was included. Cutlery, bread knives, cutting board There were screens on the windows, no bugs. With this property it was not necessary to take all those precautions you mentioned. They even gave us a complimentary bottle of the wine they produce and invited us for a family meal with them one evening. Very nice, indeed.

Adrian, October

Overall:
This was one of the reasons for our trip, and it delivered!!
Enjoyed Most:
Claudia and her family are amazing! Very nice, very friendly. The Pool, The wood burning Barbeque. The views!!
Enjoyed Least:
That I didn't book more than 4 days.
Surrounding Area:
The views of the Tuscan countryside were absolutly BREATHTAKING!!
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest town was Staggia. It was not walking distance but driving in Tuscany is a must if you really want to enjoy the countryside.
Tips or Restaurants:
Monteriggioni is close and a must-visit, and Cortona a little farther but again a must-visit. Bring good walking shoes. We shopped at the local stores and cooked outdoors most of the time. Good wine to be had at the villa!
Directions:
A GPS is a good idea if you plan to drive.
Check In Out:
Smooth as silk both ways.

Joseph, September

Overall:
The property is beautiful. The proprietors are very friendly and helpful.
Enjoyed Most:
The view, the beautiful fields, the pool for our kids, the excellent wine produced and for sale here.
Enjoyed Least:
The WiFi signal was only available outside on the patio, and it was not very strong. This was a problem for us. The kitchen lacked a few necessities for preparing basic meals such as knives for chopping, paring, etc, and the Mokka coffee maker was not working properly (probably needs a new seal). Editor's Note: The coffee maker has been replaced. October 2011.
Surrounding Area:
The little hill towns are lovely! It is also a very short day trip to Siena, which we liked very much.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia is walking distance, but the road is not friendly for walking, so we did not walk there. Instead we drove to Monteriggioni for dinner one night, and enjoyed cooking in our apartment after eating out during the day a few nights.
Tips or Restaurants:
The kitchen has no decent cooking knives. No paring knife, no chopping knife, nothing but table knives! Also, the stove requires a lighter to start, and we burnt our fingers multiple times using the starter that was provided for us. Long matches would be better. The Coop grocery store in Poggibonsi is a great place to pick up delicious prepared and semi-prepared meals fresh pastas, pestos, cheeses, etc as well as fresh veggies and fruit. Its a fun experience!
Directions:
We rented a GPS and it had no problem finding the property using the coordinates given in the directions.

Overall:
We had a fantastic time! Our 2 weeks at the agriturismo were absolutely fantastic and definitely a highlight of the month we spent in Italy! The time we spent in Tuscany was perfect and so relaxing--- I highly recommend this agriturismo and would definitely stay here again in the future without a doubt!
Enjoyed Most:
The hosts were wonderful--very warm and super helpful whether we needed a restaurant reservation or directions to the grocery store. When I couldn't find the train station in nearby Poggibonsi (we wanted to take the train to Florence), Claudia took me in her car and drove me there the day before so I could see where the station was and she pointed out where to park my car. Another day, she heard it was my birthday and showed up with flowers for me as I was lounging by the pool! They were very sweet and made our vacation even more special. We loved our apartment--the bedroom was huge and the kitchen and bath were well equipped, very modern and meticulously clean. There were fans but no a/c which was fine because even in August while it was very hot during the day it always cooled down at night. The grounds of the agriturismo are lushly planted, with views over the valley, adjacent vineyards and olive groves. The pool was fabulous and we enjoyed it every day. Our kids had a great time chasing after the bunnies, looking at the chickens, playing ping pong and running around with kids from all over the world. We loved cooking on the grill and dining al fresco practically every night.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing!
Nearby Events or Locales:
The location of the agriturismo was ideal-- a quick 20 minutes or so by car to Siena and within an hour drive or less to at least a dozen quaint towns or villages. We visited about 18 (!) towns during our 2 weeks--with Volterra being a favorite although they all were fun to explore.
Tips or Restaurants:
If you make a left out of the driveway you can reach a laundromat (with big washers and dryers) in about 8 minutes as well as several grocery stores including a huge Coop...to the right out of the driveway there is a gelato place right in the middle of Staggia that we visited several times, with a small Coop & post office 1/4 mile further down the road.

Overall:
My friends and I were very pleased with the property and the view from the top of the hill. The property met and EXCEEDED our expectations and we all agreed that we would stay there again.
Enjoyed Most:
I liked the apartment and the grounds. It was nice to look out and see the pool area and pretty flowers in the patio area.
Surrounding Area:
I liked driving into the nearby town, Staggia, and eating dinner at a local restaurant that served good food. Also, the town had a grocery store that was convenient.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest town was Staggia. Yes, it is within walking distance.
Directions:
Our GPS didn't work, so we had to go by written directions from the property owner and Avis rental car. Combining those two versions we were able to find it. I strongly recommend using GPS and would definitely have a working unit if I go again.

Overall:
Our stay at Vecchio Borgo was wonderful! We didn't want to leave. The staff was fantastic, especially Claudia! They were most accomodating and congenial.
Enjoyed Most:
We liked the fact that it was a working farm with vineyards, an olive grove, and various fruit trees. The villa had a wide range of ammenities including a swimming pool, tennis courts, and laundry. Our apartment was very roomy and comfortable, especially for 3 people. It was very clean and tastefully decorated.
Enjoyed Least:
Can't think of anything.
Surrounding Area:
The villa is in a great location 1 hr from Florence and 20 mins from Siena. Great home base for making day trips.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest small town was Staggia. It is definatly within walking distance. However, the road to town is quite narrow and there is no shoulder. Since Italians don't exactly drive slowly I wouldn't recommend it.
Tips or Restaurants:
It's nice to have a car to take day trips and tour around the countryside.
Directions:
We used the GPS on our Blackberry. We recieved the GPS coordinates, but didn't use them.

Overall:
It was a wonderful place to stay. The people are friendly and the property is beautiful. We were lucky to be there when they were harvesting the grapes and crushing them for the wine. I would definitely stay there again when I go back to Tuscany.
Enjoyed Most:
The property was very comfortable and in a great location. This apartment had screens on the windows and a fan to help cool things off if the breeze stopped in the evening. The location was beautiful...on a hill among the vineyards with a beautiful view.
Enjoyed Least:
There wasn't anything that we didn't like.
Surrounding Area:
The location was an easy drive to many of the great areas of Tuscany. San Gimignano and Siena were only about a 20 minute drive. Many of the other great small towns in the Chianti were very close, as well, including Radda in Chianti and Gaiole in Chianti.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The closest small town was Staggia and it was not really within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Make sure that you bring a roll of toilet paper with you, as there wasn't any in the apartment when we arrived. We also found a good grocery store in Poggibonsi called PAM for supplies. We spent several nights in Monteriggioni for dinner. There were also several restaurants in Castellina in Chianti that were close by. We highly recommend trips to San Gimignano and Montepulciano.
Directions:
The property is well marked and easy to find.
Check In Out:
They were very accommodating.

Overall:
This is the best holiday property we've stayed in - it's fantastic for families and was very international, so a great way to make new friends.
Enjoyed Most:
We loved everything about this property - the situation, the facilities and the fact that Claudia and her family made us so welcome and went out of their way to help, including making the best Tiramisu we've ever tasted for a party that we had with the other guests one night!
Enjoyed Least:
We couldn't fault the property.
Surrounding Area:
The countryside was beautiful, and you are ideally situated for the numerous scenic and interesting towns and cities of the area.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia is the nearest small town which you could walk to if you wished. It's a small town but has a good COOP supermarket which was very handy.
Tips or Restaurants:
We loved the communal BBQ area at the property - it's definitely worth buying some charcoal from the supermarket. When going to the larger tourist towns like Florence and Siena it pays to shop around for restaurants. In the squares, which are good places to sit and watch the world go by, some restaurants can be 2 or 3 times the price of others in the same location! Just check the menus before sitting down.

Enjoyed Most:
The villa was very relaxing and comfortable. The hosts were incredible. Claudia, Simone, and Franco are all great people.
Surrounding Area:
I was able to cycle to many interesting towns throughout the Chianti region. The property is nicely located for day trips.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia. It is close enough to walk, but the property sits on top of a hill and there is nowhere to walk once you get to the road.
Tips or Restaurants:
Enjoy the villa, because you've found a gem. Use the BBQ and the pool. There is a place next to the COOP in Staggia that everyone agreed was the best pizza on the trip.

Overall:
Claudia and her family the owners were very helpful and kind. Claudia's prune dessert cake she baked for us was delicious.
Enjoyed Most:
The location of Montalpruno Prato was ideal for seeing Siena, Florence, Rome and many other wonderful hilltowns of Tuscany. Montalpruno Prato's atmosphere was exactly what we were hoping it would be - tranquill, comfortable, and an authentic agritourisimo experience. The property and experience exceeded our expectations.
Enjoyed Least:
There was not anything we did not like.
Surrounding Area:
Poggibonsi is the nearest town to Montalpruno. It is small city that made us appreciate what life is like in Tuscany. We enjoyed the peace and quite of the area and the ability to take easy day trips to Sienna, Florence and Rome. It was a great home base.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Poggibonsi is a 10 minute walk.

Il Pozzo in Monteriggioni was our favorite restaurant - the Bisteca Florentine is outstanding.
Check In Out:
Very easy.

Overall:
Montalpruno was great! The room was clean and the view fantastic. The people, especially Claudia, were delightful.
Enjoyed Least:
We had to go to Poggibonsi to buy a fan. The heat was intense and there is no A/C.

Brian, July

Overall:
The farm was just as advertised and the whole family was really nice. The daughter and niece spoke English well and the owner was so friendly, and sure that if he talked to me enough in Italian that we would communicate, and we did. When we left he gave another bottle of his latest vintage. The apartment at the back of the house was reasonably private and certainly roomy for two. There were a number of other people staying there while we were there and that added to the enjoyment because they were from all over Europe and we shared information and experiences.
Enjoyed Most:
The proximity to so many places that we wanted to see
Surrounding Area:
The crystal town nearby, the wine area to the east and the closeness of Volterra and San Gimignano. We also enjoyed finding the Monastery of San Galgano south of Siena.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The Chianti countryside.
Tips or Restaurants:
Ristorante Tres Arches on the Higway to Volterra from the farm.
