Customer Reviews

Overall:
Absolutely wonderful. Experience enhanced by the warm hospitality of Claudia and Rudy - we left feeling like family friends not hospitality guests.
Enjoyed Most:
Friendly hosts - Claudia and Rudy
Enjoyed Least:
Shower design meant water extended over the bathroom floor and made me concerned about slipping.
Surrounding Area:
Easy access to both highway and many nearby villages and Towns. Many wineries within a short distance.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia was within walking distance but on a tricky road therefore we always drove into town - less than 5 minutes drive.
Tips or Restaurants:
Visited the local village restaurant Risorante l'Nostrano twice - once as a couple and once with all the villa guests for a specially arranged set menu feast - tiny and rustic but highly recommended. Also visited a winery less than 10 minutes driveaway called Villa Cerna - Foresteria Restaurant. A stunning lunch - expensive but very high quality and definitely worth it.

Kay, September

Overall:
Tricia and I had a wonderful time and Claudia was superb. She was very helpful with making reservations for the train to Rome as well as reservations for some of the galleries in Florence!
Enjoyed Most:
Peace and quiet after the crazy driving around Italy (I love the crazy driving but it is tiring.)
Enjoyed Least:
The WiFi worked only outside next to Claudia's office and in the daylight it was very hard to see the computer screen. It would be better indoors. The town close-by had no restaurants or a good breakfast coffee spot.
Surrounding Area:
The countryside is lovely. I rented a high end road bike on two occasions and did about 70 miles on the small roads. The bike shop was within 5 miles and they were very helpful. I brought my own shoes, pedals and kit and they supplied the rest.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia is the closest town, it has a small grocery (Coop) but not much else. On the Italian roads it is not a very safe walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring a laptop that is back-lit!
Directions:
Directions were fine.
Check In Out:
Claudia is marvelous!

Jason, May

Overall:
We thoroughly enjoyed our time.
Enjoyed Most:
The property was beautiful and very private. A nice place to relax. Our hosts Claudia and Rudy were very gracious and welcoming.
Surrounding Area:
The trips to hill towns and the surrounding views were fantastic.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia. Yes, but it's a distance on a fairly narrow road.
Tips or Restaurants:
The restaurant at Villa San Lucchese in Poggibonsi was extremely good. The risotto is to die for.
Directions:
Yes we used a GPS. A must have.
Check In Out:
No. Was very easy.

Brent, September

Overall:
We had an amazing time. The property was beautiful and very relaxing. Claudia and Rudy are great people, as were the other guests. We got to know some of the guests while hanging out in the common areas.
Enjoyed Most:
The people, the view, how quiet and beautiful the countryside was.
Surrounding Area:
The castles and towns surrounding the property were very neat and cool to visit. The roads are twisty and fun to drive.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia was within walking distance, although we had a rental and drove everywhere.
Tips or Restaurants:
Most everything can be picked up at the grocery stores in either Poggibonsi or Staggia. Ask Claudia for restaurant recommendations as she sent us to a wonderful restaurant one night for dinner.
Directions:
We did not use a GPS. Most intersections have road signs naming towns in every direction so it is easy to navigate. The entrance to the property can be missed if you're driving at night but we didn't have any trouble finding it
Check In Out:
Check in was simply Claudia greeting us and showing us to our room. Check out is early--at 9 AM--but it was pleasant as well.

Chad, July

Overall:
We had a most enjoyable and wonderful time. It was an ideal way to end our 3 week stay in Italy. Claudia our host was very helpful with directions and suggestions about what to see. Other guests at the villa were there for their 4th, 5th or 6th time. Based on our experience we can see why they keep coming back. One day we might come back, too.
Enjoyed Most:
Location was excellent. Close to freeway and not to far from Siena, Florence and many other small towns such as Volterra and San Gimignano. Hosts were excellent. Very friendly and made our stay very enjoyable. Property itself was kept very clean. Our apartment was very spacious, clean, and quiet.
Enjoyed Least:
There was nothing to dislike.
Surrounding Area:
We very much enjoyed driving around the Chianti region. Very beautiful landscapes. Most interesting little historic towns.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia. You could easily walk there if you wanted. We had rented a car.
Directions:
A GPS would be very useful; we did not have one. Getting out of Florence was a bit tense.
Check In Out:
Simple. Everything went very smoothly.

Gary, June

Overall:
It was a wonderful experience. Claudia and Rudy were very welcoming. It was everything that we had hoped for.
Enjoyed Most:
Location. Not far from many of the Tuscan hill towns that we wanted to see. The local town of Staggia was a fun place to explore, have a coffee, visit the castle. We had a very nice meal at the local trattoria. The local wine, both in town and at the villa, was good. The views of Staggia from the villa were very nice.
Surrounding Area:
The beauty of the countryside and the proximity to other cities.
Nearby Events or Locales:
20-minute walk to Staggia. It was fine for us, but probably elderly folks would not do it. We wouldn't walk it at night. The traffic would be too dangerous.
Tips or Restaurants:
Claudia has all the good local restaurants dialed in. She will even make reservations for you.

Doug , May

Enjoyed Most:
Great for families. Our kids loved meeting other kids from Canada, Belgium, and Poland. Wonderful hosts, as well. Claudia and her family cooked for everyone staying there one night and another night we shared home made tiramisu'.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia--it's a long walk.
Directions:
Didn't use a GPS - directions and street signs were adequate.

Tom, August

Enjoyed Most:
The "Real People of Italy" were the on property... they own the place!
Enjoyed Least:
Lets see... The pool was closed on October 25th. I'm from Minnesota!
Surrounding Area:
Standing on the terrace at 10:00pm with a glass of wine in hand and seeing and hearing the Regional Train down in the valley go racing towards Siena... how great was that?!
Tips or Restaurants:
The Coop grocery store in town had funny store hours, but, you're in Italy! The bar next door is open 7:00am - 9:00pm, so if the Coop isn't open right on time, it's a great place to wait. Go the last week of October, it's Rudi's Mothers Birthday party. Bring flowers!
Directions:
Ask at the gas station north of town and they will point to the farm. You don't need GPS... this is Italy and it's adventure at its best.

Garrett, October

Overall:
Overall, our stay was wonderful. The owners of the property were lovely people. We had our own little outside seating area which was nice after a day of outings. The kitchen was well-equipped with dishes, utensils, pots, and pans so it was great to shop locally and prepare our own dinners; there was also a BBQ that we used one evening. The wine was some of the best we tasted in Tuscany and having it so close in the 'wine room' was great.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest town was Staggia; we did not walk but it was within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
I found the evenings got quite chilly, so I would recommend a sweatshirt to put on in the mornings as the heat does not get turned on until November. Bring a blow dryer.
Directions:
The property was a little hard to find if you did not come in by the autostrada, so having a map or GPS is helpful.

Katrina, October

Overall:
It is so peaceful and serene. That is why we go there, to relax and enjoy nature. My husband got to help pick grapes one day and he says the next time we go he will do more. Everyone is so friendly and happy.
Enjoyed Most:
We absolutely love it there. It was our second visit and we all ready have our third in the works. We have recommended it to friends and they agree with us.
Enjoyed Least:
There was nothing not to like there. Claudia does an amazing job of making sure everything is perfect and if you did find some little thing wrong, she would have it corrected as soon as possible.
Surrounding Area:
Every day we drove to a different hill town and had lunch at a winery or an outdoor lunch spot. If you are wanting exercise, there is lots of walking to be done going to the hill towns.
Nearby Events or Locales:
I would not recommend walking to anywhere there. The roads are very narrow, winding, and busy.
Tips or Restaurants:
You do not have to bring anything. Claudia has everything in the kitchen. Of course you have to bring your food. We enjoyed the set up there so much with the private patio, etc, that we never ate at restaurants. We cooked our own breakfst and dinner and enjoyed the quiet beauty of the property.
Directions:
Yes, we have a GPS and you should have one for going to the hill towns, but the directions that you are given to get to the property are excellent.
Check In Out:
Smooth as silk.

Greg, September

Overall:
We had a wonderful stay in Tuscany. It was one of my favorite places in Italy.
Enjoyed Most:
The peaceful surroundings and our wonderful hosts, Claudia and Rudy.
Enjoyed Least:
The ants.
Surrounding Area:
It was very accessible for day trips to all the hill towns and Firenze.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia. It was within walking distance, but there were no shoulders on the narrow road, so we didn't feel safe walking to town.
Tips or Restaurants:
Don't go to the restaurant in Staggia. Very bad service. There were great restaurants not too far away in Castellina in Chianti. All the basics were provided for cooking. We were easily able to find great ingedients for meals.
Directions:
We should have had a GPS but didn't. There are many different routes in the area. The instructions confused us and we got lost, but a helpful police officer gave us an escort to the correct exit.

Terry, June

Overall:
The property and the Tuscany region were beautiful. We loved it. It was also great to have unlimited access to the great wine and olive oil made by the villa, which was also very reasonable. We were also allowed to walk the grape fields, olive trees and fruit trees. It was so peaceful. The owners were also very friendly.
Enjoyed Most:
It was just so beautiful and peaceful. The owners were very nice. I also loved having access to the wine and olive oil made on the premises.
Enjoyed Least:
I really would have liked two full bedrooms. The apartment we stayed in was one bedroom with two twin beds in the living area.
Surrounding Area:
There was a castle right in town and a beautiful view from the villa of the surrounding area. There was also a nice hidden restaurant in Staggia. The villa is also very close to many great places for day trips. It is very central.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia also called Staggia Senese, I think. You could walk, but the road is curvy and a bit dangerous with the way the Italians drive!
Tips or Restaurants:
The villa was pretty well stocked. They even had small shampoos and soap. I would suggest visiting Monteriggioni and driving to the Chianti region and visiting places like Radda in Chianti and Castellina in Chianti. There are a couple great places for wine tasting along the way, but I forget the names. There is also a nice restaurant in Staggia right in town down a driveway. It is considered a steak restaurant. I forget the name. Just make sure to try and order the steak medium-medium well. Ours came out purple.
Directions:
I think we used a GPS traveling from Venice, but found it no problem.
Check In Out:
It went smoothly and was not pressured arrival time, etc. because the owners/property manager are on the property. However, there was a bit of inconsistency. We were not told where the washer was, what fruit we could or could not pick and a few other things. However, the manager is very accessible and we just asked when needed.

Tara, June

Overall:
We had a wonderful time at this agriturismo. It was the perfect way to spend a week in Tuscany.
Enjoyed Most:
The location is excellent, midway between Firenze and Siena. The manager was very nice and helpful with our questions. The house is very quiet and the setting is quite beautiful.
Enjoyed Least:
We were lacking a few things in the kitchen which would have made cooking a bit more enjoyable. There was no cutting board and we were never able to get the oven to work.
Surrounding Area:
Everything! What is not to like about Tuscany?
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia Senese is the nearest town and although it was within walking distance, the road is very narrow and curvy and seemed a bit dangerous to walk on.
Tips or Restaurants:
Many of the items that were suggested for us to bring were not needed. The apartment had salt, pepper, some spices, plenty of soap, TP, sponges, laundry detergent and enough towels for general use. Though we did bring a travel towel for the pool, it wasn't really warm enough in early October to swim.
Directions:
We didn't use a GPS and had no problem driving from North Florence to the property the first time.
Check In Out:
The manager, was wonderful.

Pat , October

Overall:
We enjoyed ourselves so much. It was so interesting with the vineyard and the olive trees. It was also an excellent spot to be in as the wineries and the hill towns were easy to get to. We will be most interested in going there again.
Enjoyed Most:
It was so beautiful there and so well maintained. Claudia does an amazing job of looking after it. My husband was so interested in the grapes and they just started harvesting them while we were there. He took quite a few pictures.
Enjoyed Least:
We would have liked screens on the windows to stop the mosquitoes, but we solved the problem.
Surrounding Area:
We enjoyed travelling to all the towns. We did a different road trip every day.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest town is Staggia, but I would not recommend walking to any town as the roads are narrow and winding and the drivers go fast.
Tips or Restaurants:
The owner is happy to recommend some good places to eat. We actually cooked, most nights, in the fully equipped kitchen and enjoyed it very much. You don't need to bring anything - they have it all.
Directions:
Yes we used a GPS. I don't know how we got along before those were available.
Check In Out:
The whole thing was very easy.

Greg, September

Overall:
We had a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend this villa to anyone we know travelling to Tuscany.
Enjoyed Most:
We loved the view and the property - that was probably our favourite thing. However, we also loved having access to the wine from their winery - so delicious and inexpensive! Plus we were able to access the wine room 24 hours a day! Another favourite were the people that ran the villa - Claudia and her family were always willing to help out whenever they could. They kept the property so neat and clean and were so friendly and nice - they really made us feel welcome.
Enjoyed Least:
Can't really think of anything!
Surrounding Area:
Easy access to the main highway between Florence and Siena - fairly easy to get to all of the towns and wineries we wanted to visit. Plus the landscape was amazing.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest town was Staggia - it was within walking distance, but not recommended because of the tight turns and drivers come around them quickly.
Tips or Restaurants:
We brought most of the things suggested to us by RentVillas and it was helpful - especially ziplock bags, sponges etc. but the villa was really well stocked, so we didn't need too many additional items - we just had to buy food. The one restaurant we ate at in town was very good - I'm not quite sure of the name. Reasonably priced. Fresh and delicious food and yummy bag of bread to start!!! We definitely recommend the wine at the villa - all the bottles we tried were so good and we enjoyed cooking with the olive oil, as well.

Michelle, June

Overall:
It was a glorious experience. Our stay afforded us the opportunity to really rest and take in the beauty of Tuscany, while also serving as a base for day-trip travel by train and car to hill towns as well as Florence and Siena.
Enjoyed Most:
The beauty of the area was extraordinary. The grounds were immaculately cared for by the charming and attentive staff. The quarters were well stocked with necessary amenities. The pool was lovely and we enjoyed the use of the bicycles, ping pong, and basketball.
Enjoyed Least:
The shower drainage in the bathroom was problematic as the floor was wet and slippery.
Surrounding Area:
The views were amazing.-- panoramic and lush!! We enjoyed running, walking and biking through the area.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia was the nearest town. We biked there, although the ride back was difficult as it was all up-hill on the road back to the property.
Tips or Restaurants:
It would be wise to stock up well on groceries as there aren't many restaurant options in Staggia.
Check In Out:
It was minimal and simple

Diane, November

Overall:
We were travelling with our 10-month old son and the villa was very child friendly - they provided a crib and were very welcoming. It was quiet enough for him to take naps and sleep at night. But we did find ourselves confined some nights since its not an easy walk to town. But I do highly recommend this villa!
Enjoyed Most:
Good location - easy drive to several nice Tuscan towns as well as Siena and the Chianti region. The wine room with wine and olive oil from the winery at the villa was a nice treat!
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing bad to say.
Surrounding Area:
The beauty!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia was the closest town - within walking distance but on a busy road so we didn't walk. Monteriggioni was the closest by car that was fun for lunches and gelato!
Tips or Restaurants:
Both restaurants in Monteriggioni were very good. We found the apartment pretty well stocked - toilet paper, sponges and soap. All fine. Bring extra towels for the pool.

Jessica, June

Enjoyed Most:
Well many things, but the views would be one and the other that comes to mind was the feeling that it truly was our place. You almost felt as if you owned the property. None of the farm's workings ever intruded and any questions we had were answered without making us feel it was an imposition. One nice treat was the storeroom where you picked up wine, olive oil, and signed a book for what you took. Then paid at the end of your stay. A very easy way to taste the wines from their farm---which were good and very reasonable.
Enjoyed Least:
There were no negatives.
Surrounding Area:
There were many small towns and many hills towns within an easy drive.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia. While it was within walking distance, the return walk up the hill was prohibitive.
Tips or Restaurants:
Ask Claudia for tips on restaurants. She directed us to one in town for dinner our first night there. We would have returned but ran out of time. She also sent us to a great little osteria a few kms up the road for traditional breakfasts. The kitchen was well stocked, though one should bring plastic bags for food, and a bag for groceries. We also had an adaptor for our hair dryer and curling iron which was helpful.

Joan, October

Overall:
Great - would recommend to a friend!
Enjoyed Most:
The family who ran the villa were very hospitable and nice.
Enjoyed Least:
We had to ask for towels. No maid service - I guess we assumed that we would have some sort of maid service, but that is probably our wrong assumption.
Surrounding Area:
Great for daytripping. We went to San Gimignano, Arezzo, Cortona, Montepulciano, Montalcino, Siena, Porto Santo Stefano, Monteriggioni, Florence. So much to see and do.
Tips or Restaurants:
Loved Il Pozzo in Monteriggioni.

Kathy, August

Enjoyed Most:
The setting was gorgeous. The property manager was friendly and gracious.
Enjoyed Least:
There were no screens on the windows of the suite we rented. It was sometimes noisy because of the people in the apartment above and around us.
Surrounding Area:
It was very central to Tuscany and Chianti. It was a beautiful area.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest town was Staggia. It was a little far to walk and the road was too narrow too safely walk there.
Tips or Restaurants:
The upstairs apartments have screens on the windows, so I recommend booking them. Our favorite restaurant was in Spaltenna at a church that was converted to a hotel and restaurant called Pieve de Spaltenna.

Brenda, July

Enjoyed Most:
Location was very convenient to the Siena-Firenze Superstrada. Claudia was very helpful.
Enjoyed Least:
No screens on the windows. We thought that maybe screens were a luxury just not found in Tuscany until we noticed the upstairs units had them on their windows - that would be the ONLY thing we would change about our stay
Surrounding Area:
Great location - very picturesque.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia Senese - I wouldn't walk even though it was less than a mile - curvy roads.
Tips or Restaurants:
We loved La Corte del Goloso in the small town of Staggia. We went there 3 times during our visit. Bring or buy bath soap and if you can manage a small fan - we had great weather - and the bugs were not ferocious, but it was difficult to leave the window in the bedroom open all the time to maintain circulation.

Kristin, June

Enjoyed Most:
The spacious and well decorated unit.
Enjoyed Least:
The living room didn't have comfortable chairs.
Surrounding Area:
The rolling hills and small towns of Tuscany are breathtaking.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia is within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Definitely eat at the restaurant in Staggia - we had our best meal there!

Melissa, November

Overall:
The owners of the propery were absolutely fabulous. They were extremely friendly, helpful with directions, and great fun to talk with!
Enjoyed Most:
The land was beautiful surrounding the villa. I loved the area that we stayed in because eveything was easily accessible. The various sitting areas around the property were wonderful for reading a book or having a candlelight dinner.
Surrounding Area:
We loved touring the wineries in the Chianti region. Siena was a 20-minute drive and had museums, shopping and some good restaurants. Florence was only a 35-minute drive and is home to some of the most famous pieces of art the world has to offer!
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest town was Poggibonsi and it was about 3 miles from the villa.
Tips or Restaurants:
Some wonderful restaurants: Babette in Poggibonsi; Dorarndo in San Gimignano; La Fattoria in Tavernelle; and Albergaccio in Castellina in Chianti.

Tory , May

Overall:
Everything about our stay far and away exceeded our expectations - we just can't wait to come back and stay again.
Enjoyed Most:
The fabulous view and the very friendly and helpful hosts - they were extremely patient and kind to our five-year old daughter
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing really - we had a fantastic time
Surrounding Area:
We tried to see as much of the surrounding area as we could - all the villages that we visited were very worthwhile and we also drove past Volterra to the Mediterrean Sea for the day. Although it was during the heatwave we really enjoyed it all - the views, atmosphere and the food were sensational.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Staggia was the nearest town and it had a good supermarket and pizzeria and cafe. It was easy walking distance if we had wanted to, but since it was quite hot we did stick to the car.
Tips or Restaurants:
One thing that we did which was lots of fun was taking the bus to Florence - it was much easier than we had expected and we had a wonderful time exploring the city for the day.
