Customer Reviews

Overall:
Delightful! Caroline and Robert, the owners, were extremely helpful with any questions that we had. The tapas dinner upon our arrival that we arranged with Caroline was very special. Later she also arranged a paella dinner that was wonderful.
Enjoyed Most:
I liked to sit in the garden and listen to the birds singing while the sun set over the hills.
Enjoyed Least:
The property had WiFi but the signal could be improved.
Surrounding Area:
Many great driving/sightseeing trips and places to explore by car. It's a great place to go walking and jogging. Many of the locals are also out walking and jogging and they were always warm and friendly.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Arriate. We walked there. If you are a walker it is a wonderful small pueblo blanco to explore. A nun in Arriate asked us if we would like to tour the nursing home there. We did, and it was very interesting.
Tips or Restaurants:
Our favorite restaurant was El Muelle de Arriate. It is the old train station in Arriate. If you use GPS, the Arriate train station in favorites should get you there. The old train station is next to the new train station.
Directions:
We would have had trouble getting there if we did not have a GPS and the coordinates. Since very few streets have signage it is hard to improve the directions. I would just suggest that travelers bring a GPS loaded with the coordinates.
Check In Out:
Check in and out was a breeze.

Overall:
Very pleasant house with a wonderful yard and pool. Caretakers were very friendly.
Enjoyed Most:
Private beautiful yard.
Enjoyed Least:
Washing machine is confusing to run.
Surrounding Area:
All the beautiful white towns and gorgeous scenery.

Barbara And Tom, September

Overall:
Excellent, due mostly to the hospitality of Maria and Mike. They couldn't have been more warm and helpful, freely giving their time to answer questions and offer suggestions at any time day or night. Their tapas dinner that was waiting for us when we arrived in the early evening was outstanding!
Enjoyed Most:
Proximity to sites (La Pileta, bodegas, Ronda, Granada, Seville, pueblos blancos, and so on).
Enjoyed Least:
The decor is not "Spanish" or locally oriented. But that is a non-issue in the bigger scheme of things.
Surrounding Area:
The view, and the cities noted above.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ronda was the nearest, about 5-10 minutes by car. A car is needed for all sightseeing.
Tips or Restaurants:
The house was better-stocked than I'm used to. Plenty of soap, toilet paper, paper towels, laundry and dishwasher soap, etc.

Leslie, October

Overall:
Memorable. Comfortable, beautiful, everything we hoped for.
Enjoyed Most:
Great location, beautiful property, comfortable, well equipped.
Surrounding Area:
It was gorgeous, very short trips to great cities, very friendly people.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ronda is a ten-minute drive; it's too far to walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
La Cueva de la Pileta is a very nearby cave with prehistoric art and is a fabulous experience, highly recommended. There's a great supermarket, Mercadona, right as you enter Ronda with its own underground parking and great produce. Eating at the villa is cheap and the best food around.
Directions:
The directions could have been better. We had a GPS, but there was no street address for the property, and it was on roads the GPS did not recognize.

Tom, December

Overall:
The owner was personable and helpful. Despite a week with lots of rain, we enjoyed ourselves in the house and taking day trips to Ronda center, Seville, Marbella Gibralter at the shore. The countryside is spectacular.
Enjoyed Most:
The nice yard, privacy and charm. We couldn't be outdoors much due to rain. The inside was cozy and well appointed and the bedrooms comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with all the essentials: pots, dishes, utensils, bowls etc.
Enjoyed Least:
The washing machine was broken.
Surrounding Area:
A nice view of the countryside outside of the gate. It was a short drive into Ronda proper. The countryside is beautiful.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ronda was a 5 minute drive.
Tips or Restaurants:
Washcloths are not provided; bring some if you need them.

Jude, January

Enjoyed Most:
The accessibility to Ronda and Andalusia. The location allowed us to explore the sites of the region and relax in a rural location. The grounds and property were well maintained and attractive. The owner prepared a requested dinner meal for six and also stocked the refrigerator with a day or two of supplies of milk, bread and snacks.
Enjoyed Least:
No
Surrounding Area:
The owner put together a thorough guide to explore both Ronda and the surrounding sites, including the Pueblas Blancas.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ronda is the nearest town and not walkable.
Tips or Restaurants:
There are many wonderful places to eat in Ronda and there are a number of well stocked Super Mercados filled with local wines and cheeses.
Check In Out:
Completely painless

David, October

Enjoyed Most:
The villa was outstanding, and thoughtfully completed with all manner of conveniences.
Enjoyed Least:
It's hard to find the first time, but very convenient once the way is known.
Surrounding Area:
The short drives to nearby sites Ronda, Cueva Pileta, etc. are breathtakingly beautiful. The Pileta cave was especially remarkable, and all the surrounding Pueblos Blancos are each worth visits. Then, Seville, Algeciras, Tarifa, Cadiz, Cordoba, Grenada, etc. etc. are all within a couple hours' drive, as well.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ronda is a five minute drive, and provides many days' worth of walking enjoyment. We still didn't see half the sights there.
Tips or Restaurants:
We never went wrong with local restaurants there are many recommended by the villa owner and the mountain sights are amazing. The drives down to the coast at Marbella and Algeciras are absolutely STUNNING. Though not as much fun for the motion-sensitive! The Cueva Pileta is well worth the effort to see.
Directions:
It is definitely recommended to arrive for the first time during daylight hours.

Craig, August

Overall:
The property owners could not have been more cordial, and were an excellent source of information about activities, restaurants.
Enjoyed Most:
Very roomy and comfortable accomodations, excellent pool area.
Enjoyed Least:
Proximity to a train line in frequent use.
Surrounding Area:
The surrounding area is accessible by car, with lots of good choices--Granada, Sevilla, etc.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ronda was a five-minute drive, a bit too far for walking.
Tips or Restaurants:
Zahara, a thirty minute drive, has great views and a very friendly and comfortable restaurant, Del Lago, with excellent food and a fine wine list.

Robert , September

Overall:
The landlords have run hotels, and this shows in the way they have decorated the property and made sure to provide all necessary facilities and services.
Enjoyed Most:
Very clean and well appointed. Excellent service provided by cleaners.
Enjoyed Least:
Railway line very near the property. TV provided but could only be used for DVD-Video - no TV aerial to receive even basic TV service.
Surrounding Area:
Beautiful views and typical Andalusian countryside.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We used Ronda - 10 minutes by car.
Tips or Restaurants:
Casa Mateous and Casa Maria in Ronda have excellent food and wines.
