Customer Reviews

Overall:
We had a wonderful week there. The welcome basket was nice and fun, the rooms were spotless and charming, and the little town was pleasant. The town pub had great food and atmosphere, and Ebrington was located close to many other places we wished to visit.
Enjoyed Most:
The overall quality of the cottage. It was perfect for two people.
Enjoyed Least:
The cottage lacked WiFi, which made it inconvenient to contact relatives and to keep up with things. We had to go to the pub to get access.
Surrounding Area:
One of the most peaceful and beautiful areas we have ever visited, and we travel a lot!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Beyond Ebrington, in which we were centrally located, Chipping Camden was a couple of minutes drive away. We could do some basic shopping there. Ebrington has no stores.
Directions:
We asked around town and eventually stumbled across the property. GPS got us into town. Folks at the pub had no clue, so we had to go exploring to find the cottage.

Overall:
Overall it was a lovely and comfortable place. We really felt at home and had almost everything we needed.
Enjoyed Most:
The house was cozy and exactly how we pictured a cottage in the Cotswolds.
Enjoyed Least:
It had no Internet or phone and no shower in the bathroom.
Surrounding Area:
Quaint and peaceful.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ebrington. Yes, but it only had a restaurant/pub.
Tips or Restaurants:
The Ebrington Arms has very good food. Otherwise we cooked dinners in the cottage, which was wonderful for us.
Directions:
We did have a GPS but once we got to Ebrington it was not a help to find the property. We finally asked a man who was working on a new home for directions. He was helpful.
Check In Out:
The key was left where we were told it would be and we left it in the same spot on departure day. Very easy and convenient.

Overall:
Except for the rain, we loved the Cotswolds. Our cottage was close to so many other charming villages, and the Ebrington Arms had outstanding ambience, service, and food. We visited other villages every day, ate in local pubs and cooked several dinners at 'home'. The quietness was so welcome, and the birds sang late into the evening and very early in the morning. Sunrise is early, sunset is at 10 PM.
Enjoyed Most:
Flower Cottage was cozy, warm, and charming. The welcome basket was a wonderful surprise and gesture and everything in it was delicious, especially the bread and cheese. The lovely housekeepers were very helpful, even bringing back another loaf of bread. The house was spotless upon arrival as well.
Enjoyed Least:
Finding the cottage was bit of a challenge as well as parking at the rear entrance, however, once we figured how to park beside the Copper Beech, it was fine. The kitchen sink faucet was overly powerful, easily splashing us each time used. American fixtures seem to have better flow regulation, or pressure modulation, however this was a minor issue.
Surrounding Area:
We could walk into Ebrington village, a few hundred yards away, which we did numerous times. We had meals in Chipping Camden, Witney, Moreton in Marsh, Cirencester, Bibury and Ebrington. Every pub was a delight, and pureed soups were a spectacular hit. The smoked salmon is fabulous. The desserts are sinful.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ebrington, literally 2 minutes from our front door. 500 people live here, and everyone said hello. The gardens, farms and different styles of house cottages were very interesting.
Tips or Restaurants:
The house was fully equipped upon our arrival, plus the previously mentioned welcome basket with all sorts of goodies. We are not sure if previous renters left milk and juice, but it was there as well. Restaurants - pubs - I'll list them as they were all wonderful. Ebrington Arms Bantam Tea Room in Chipping Camden, The Lygon Arms in Chipping Camden Tilly's in Moreton in Marsh Ann's Tea Room in Cirencester The Red Lion, Shipston on Stour Eagles Vault, Witney.
Directions:
Property was somewhat hidden, and GPS brought us to incorrect address, but Ebrington was so small, we found the cottage after a few tries. Finding the parking is challenging, as well as the appropriate parking space. We did not have the coordinates.
Check In Out:
Checking in was very easy, as the key was exactly where it was supposed to be. Ditto on check out.

Overall:
Cooking in the cottage gave the week a more homey feeling and I would suggest this to anyone who likes to cook. The kitchen is well equipped including a full range of spices. 1)Kudos to the Rentvillas staff: Patricia was very responsive from the initial contact through the entire process. We particularly appreciated her prompt response to questions after booking, including arranging for a late arrival. Since this was our first cottage rental, your competence enhanced our confidence in the rental prior to the trip.
Enjoyed Most:
The cottage is small but idyllic and very romantic. Just perfect for a quiet getaway. It is charmingly decorated and immediately feels like home away from home. It was wonderful to wake up to the sun and birds singing! The welcome hamper was a terrific surprise and included all the necessities - fruit, wine, cheese, coffee and on and on! The Ebrington Arms is a friendly local pub with good food and is only a two minute walk from the cottage. The location was great for walking on the public footpaths and/or driving to the quaint Cotswold towns nearby.
Enjoyed Least:
The small parking space was located under a tree and somewhat difficult to navigate.
Surrounding Area:
The area is so picturesque - lovely stone buildings, narrow lanes, lots of countryside - just perfect for a relaxing vacation We enjoyed walking through the fields, including among the sheep, as well as visiting the nearby towns - Chipping Camden is a mere 2 miles away! We loved going to the pub for a pint and interacting with the locals and other travellers. Was great to just kick back and not feel compelled to see any sights - just enjoy the ambiance of the area.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ebrington was lovely and interesting to explore as well as a great base for visiting many villages. However, it didn't have any shops, so proximity to other villages was important. Chipping Camden was about 2 miles away and easily walkable.
Tips or Restaurants:
The Ebrington Arms has very good food including traditional pub food, as well as more modern options. There are several places in Chipping Camden including the Noel Arms pub and Huxleys restaurant. The cottage is extremely well equipped so it's not necessary to bring any housekeeping or food basics.

Overall:
The cottage was charming with lovely rose garden behind. The village of Ebrington is one of the loveliest in the Cotswold and is perfectly located for travel to all the important places. There are two rental cottages connected. The other is larger, but the garden to Flower Cottage is much prettier. It is definitely only for two people. The bed room is up a flight of curving stairs that are very steep. I would not recommend it for anyone who can not climb stairs easily.
Enjoyed Most:
The cottage was beautifully appointed in the decoration of each room. The facilities - stove, micro, washer, etc., were of new and very usable condition. The cottage was clean and well equipped on arrival with a great food hamper waiting for us. The local agents were very friendly and very helpful. The TV was a welcomed extra along with a telephone.
Enjoyed Least:
The sofa in the living room was not in the best of condition. It was very low to the floor and lumpy. I hate to complain at all, for it was a lovely place.
Surrounding Area:
The Cotswolds are the loveliest part of England. Each village is prettier that the next and the people are very friendly. We were close to many lovely manor houses, gardens, churches, and shopping.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were in the heart of Ebrington, but it does not have a shop to buy food, etc. So we went to Chipping Campden for necessities which was 2 1/2 miles and the lovely town of Broadway was only 5 miles away. Ebrington had a Pub. The church was not active.
Tips or Restaurants:
For this cottage one does not need to bring anything, everything was furnished. I took what you recommended but all of it was furnished. They even had wash cloths. We like a big bar of soap for bathing and so that would be needed. The Eight Bells in Chipping Camden is a treat--good food and great atmosphere. We found eating out very expensive. Lunch would run around 40 Euros, so we fixed sandwiches for the road and I cooked our evening meal.
