Customer Reviews

Overall:
We had a lovely time in the apartment and in Cortona. The property was comfortable, clean, and furnished nicely. The streets are steep in Cortona, so it's a bit of a workout with all the walking around--but worth it. We also visited the Cinque Terre, which was beautiful.
Enjoyed Most:
The view from the front windows.
Surrounding Area:
The beautiful landscapes, rooftops, colors.
Nearby Events or Locales:
A car is needed to visit other towns in the area. The famous "Bramasole" house owned by Frances Mayes is within walking distance through a beautiful park.
Tips or Restaurants:
Cortona has several good restaurants which was surprising for a small town. Trattoria la Grotta and Ristorante La Loggetta were very good meals. I would advise future travelers to pack light. You don't want to lug heavy suitcases around those streets.
Directions:
Directions were fine. We had a GPS.

Overall:
We had a wonderful time. The property is so close to restaurants, museums, shops and within walking distance of historical sites. We were greeted by the owner and she was very helpful and answered all our questions.
Enjoyed Most:
The view and the easy access to shops and restaurants.
Enjoyed Least:
The apartment would be perfect for a family of 4. However, for two couples, there was one master bedroom (beautiful) and a second bedroom with two single beds. We would have liked to have had an outdoor table and chairs.
Surrounding Area:
We did a winery and cheese tour which was reasonably priced and interesting. We did a trip into Rome. We enjoyed hiking to a monastary. We were close to restaurants and shopping.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona was within walking distance and had a market to pick up whatever food items we needed.
Directions:
It worked out well for us as we were late arriving (after 7:00 PM); too late for the bus. We called the owner and she called a taxi to pick us up at the train station. It only cost 15 Euros.
Check In Out:
The owner was very pleasanat and made checking in very easy for us. It was after hours and we really appreciated all her help in arranging a taxi pick up. She was very professional and made sure to come by when the time suited us.

Overall:
Very enjoyable.
Enjoyed Most:
The location in Cortona.
Enjoyed Least:
The shower was small.
Surrounding Area:
The history, the people, the food, and the wine.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cortona. Yes--it's within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Prior to arriving at the property, purchase coffee, coffee filters, and toilet paper.
Directions:
All was good.

Overall:
Absolutely incredible! Everything was more than we expected!!!
Enjoyed Most:
We were welcomed and felt comfortable in this beautiful setting.
Surrounding Area:
Lots to do within walking distance in Cortona. Excellent restaurants, shops, and sight seeing. RentVillas was also excellent for booking wine tours.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Being in Cortona we didn't actually need to go to Camucia except to catch the train. There were other small towns within the area to visit for cheese and wine tasting.
Tips or Restaurants:
The apartment did have everything and Francesca could not have been more helpful regarding local restaurants and the taxi. An inexpensive but delicious and relaxing restaurant was Fuflun's. We enjoyed all the restaurants within Cortona.
Directions:
Francesca arranged for a taxi to pick us up. Since we got off on the train on the far side of the tracks, it took us a while to orient and ourselves and find the front of the station. We were weary from traveling, but when we saw the apartment and the view, we weren't so weary!!
Check In Out:
It was all very smooth once we called Francesca 1 hour in advance of our arrival to advise that we were on the train. Francesca was very friendly and available for information throughout our stay.

Overall:
We enjoyed our stay very much. The villa was wonderful and the view was fantastic! The villa was located close to everything in Cortona, such as main shopping and bus transportation. It also was spacious and the furniture and decor were perfect for the setting. Francesca, the keyholder, spoke excellent English and was very charming and helpful especially dealing with lost luggage! I would definitely recommend this villa and if a another visit to Cortona presents itself, I would definitely stay at Casa Cortona 1 again.
Enjoyed Most:
The view and location, decor, modern bathroom, Francesca the keyholder. It was a wonderful property.
Enjoyed Least:
The kitchen was quite small, but it worked for my purposes, and then one minor inconvenience was the American coffeemaker was missing the carafe, but we worked around it and were still able to make coffee every morning.
Surrounding Area:
I loved the entire town of Cortona. It is a beautiful setting and I enjoyed walking throughout the area. Transportation via bus to the train station in Camucia was very easy and allowed us to make day trips to Florence and surrounding towns.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Camucia was the nearest small town, but it was not a doable walk. The roads are narrow and steep and carry lots of traffic.
Tips or Restaurants:
Please make sure you indicate that staying at the Casa Cortona requires a lot of walking up steep roads and cut outs between buildings to get to the main street in Cortona. We did not have a problem but if someone has a health issue or is older, this would not be the villa for them. The villa was very well equipped, but I am glad I packed a wash cloth and a travel alarm clock. We ate at many different restaurants and all of them were delicious.
