Customer Reviews

Overall:
A wonderful place to relax after travelling non stop for a couple of weeks. A chance to unpack and spread out in such a beautiful part of the world. The refurbishment and decor of our villa was first class.
Enjoyed Most:
The peace and quiet. A church bell rininging on the hour and birds singing were the musical background to the tranquility. The villa itself was a joy. Spacious rooms and a fantastic pool all added to the stay and Leonardo was a wonderful host. Extremely helpful and attentive and always ready with suggestions to enhance our stay.
Enjoyed Least:
We needed to buy essentials such as salt and pepper, dish washing powder, oil and vinegar. We understand that perishables can not be provided but some of the basics would be helpful especially since check-in is on Saturdays and many places are closed on Sunday and/or Monday.
Surrounding Area:
There are a handful of small villages nearby which are well worth exploring. Slightly further afield are larger towns such as Greve and Figline which have wonderful small restaurants, supermarkets and great shopping. There is a great rail service from Figline which gets you to Florence in 30 minutes for about 20 Euro return. All the roads are in great condition and driving is easy once you get used to the local drivers!!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Duda and Lucolena are the closest villages. Both are very small but are beautiful. Walking depends on how fit you are but would be possible if you had time.
Tips or Restaurants:
Leonardo knows all the great restaurants. Just ask him. As mentioned before, some advice about provisions would be helpful if not supplied.
Directions:
Directions were good. We drove from Florence and found the place using GPS which is a must. Advice about the toll on the highway would be useful for planning the trip.
Check In Out:
No. Check in and out was easy and Leonardo was again a perfect host.

Overall:
This was the experience of a lifetime. I know that this sounds like a cliche, but this truly was an amazing experience. My family of four actually bonded at the villa because of the time that we spent together. We even got to know our villa "neighbors," who had a great going away party.
Enjoyed Most:
EVERYTHING! The fact that there was a third bathroom was a lovely surprise. Leonardo was an absolute sweetheart who was willing to help in any way possible. Seriously, this was a wonderful experience.
Surrounding Area:
The area was truly Tuscany, with vineyards surrounding us and small villages of friendly, happy families. Beautiful!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Lucolena was the closest town. We could walk to it if we wished.
Tips or Restaurants:
According to us, and especially my 25 year old son, the pizzeria in Lucolena was the BEST! Few people spoke English, which made the experience all the more "real." The food was absolutely wonderful--and cheap!
Directions:
We did have a GPS. However, I do believe that anyone could find the villa since it is clearly marked.
Check In Out:
Everything was handled beautifully. Leonardo's assistant clearly explained everything and helped us with restaurants. She spoke perfect English.

Overall:
Very good.
Enjoyed Most:
The setting. Situated on a beautiful piece of property overlooking vineyards and olive trees.
Enjoyed Least:
Very little to dislike.
Surrounding Area:
The beauty of the countryside.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Lucolena was the nearest town. Not very convenient to walk to. In Chianti, you need a car to get around anyway so it wasn't a problem.
Tips or Restaurants:
Everything was supplied. When checking in, make sure you ask for their suggestions for trips, restaurants, etc. They were perfect.

Overall:
My wife, son, and I had a blast in Tuscany. The location is remote and peaceful, but close to so many relaxing and new cultural experiences. The markets in Greve and Panzano were a lot of fun. The area is heaven for bicycle riders. The wine and olive oil tastings were great. The villa was comfortable - great kitchens, modern bathrooms. We enjoyed many evenings in late April drinking wine and talking.
Enjoyed Most:
Kitchen set up was very good. The area was private - good to get away from the tourist crowds, yet close enough to explore many neat places. The wine museum, consisting of restored historical wine making equipment from the estate, was a lot of fun. We enjoyed the owner's commentary on the area as well as advice. There is a great common grill area and even includes a wood burning pizza oven for you to test your pizza skills. There is readily available wine and olive oil from the surrounding vineyards already in the villa for your use at low costs.
Enjoyed Least:
The living room only had two chairs, and the TV was in the kitchen, though we only watched CNN to get occasional news fixes.
Surrounding Area:
Great bicycle rides through Chianti region. Wine and olive oil tastings were fun and educational. Our favorite pizza place was in Panzano. Fifteen minutes to Figline to catch the train to Florence. The people worked with us and our limited understanding of Italian and always found someone to communicate with us. We never had a problem. And to our surprise, the driving was fairly easy and the Italian drivers were much better than I had heard.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Lucolena was the nearest town - about three quarters of a mile. Not much there. Very good little restaurant in Dudda about a mile away. Greve is full of places.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring your nav system loaded with Italy maps, or rent one with your car. Basic kitchen tools are good, but since the villa is self catering will need to stock some basics - additional TP, paper products, soap, etc. Coop grocery stores in Figline and Greve, about 8 km away. As far as restaurants, don't miss the little restaurant in Dudda - can't miss it. We ate out more lunches during our sight seeing expeditions and ate on the private patio several evenings.
Check In Out:
Very good.

Overall:
It was exceptional. The house was immaculate, and easy to live in.
Enjoyed Most:
The quiet. The Tuscan country side is very relaxing.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing. Actually the firewood was wet, but that had nothing to do with the property.
Surrounding Area:
Exploring the small towns and driving in the countryside.
Tips or Restaurants:
The restaurant in Dudda is very good, as is one in Greve, Casa Al Chianti. Expensive, but the service and food is good.
Directions:
The directions from Figline should say Ponte agli Stolli.
Check In Out:
The lady in the office was very helpful.

Overall:
This was a very enjoyable trip. The accommodations were excellent and the location peaceful and beautiful. The owner was gracious and helpful.
Enjoyed Most:
The quiet and beautiful location.
Enjoyed Least:
Bathroom and bedroom was small but this is when compared to US style living. Internet connection very slow.
Surrounding Area:
We appreciated the beauty of the countryside.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Nearest small town was Figline and not within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
We used a GPS to help us navigate our way around, was most useful.
Directions:
We used a GPS to get around. I would suggest using a GPS device and would be interesting to find out which one works best. We took with us a Tomtom and a Garmin. It was a high end Tomtom and was better than the low end Garmin GPS.
