Customer Reviews

Overall:
We had a amazing time in Tuscany and loved our little villa!
Enjoyed Most:
The view was stunning. It was super quiet and charming and perfectly located with a lovely patio and comfortable king size bed.
Enjoyed Least:
It was a bit tricky to find at night and the living area of was part of kitchen--but these are only very minor, so just a suggestion for the host. We would totally stay there again and loved it!
Surrounding Area:
Tuscany has so much to offer, truffles, wine, culture, nature and very peaceful place.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Absolutely! Barberino Val D'Elsa is a friendly, clean and well preserved medieval town. Great restaurants and wineries at your doorstep. It was like a dream type of destination for our private little wedding!
Tips or Restaurants:
Good to have a data plan. Driving is fun there, make sure you have a GPS.
Check In Out:
It was simple, Sonia was great.

Overall:
Lovely ground-floor apartment in the center of a charming town. Mostly quiet, nice backyard that needed a key to enter (felt very safe). No actual living room but the kitchen and garden served as lovely places to sit.
Enjoyed Most:
Location. Easy to find, with our own entrance.
Enjoyed Least:
No WiFi in the apartment, only at the office where the laundry and pool and parking lot were. We had a prepaid SIM card from TIM (Italian provider) that made it easier for us. When others wanted to use the Internet, I turned on my WiFi hotspot.
Surrounding Area:
There happened to be a flowers and wine festival while we were there, which was a wonderful way to experience the area.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Barberino Val D'elsa--you are inside the town.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring a clothesline - we had no where to dry the clothing. The coffee maker was a Moka coffee pot which is heated over the stove top--neat experience but we needed to use YouTube to learn how to use it!
Directions:
Google Maps, Bing maps, and Apple maps all did a great job finding it. My friend downloaded all Italy Street maps using her Windows phone, and did a great job navigating without using cell phone data!
Check In Out:
Nice experience. My first time staying in a Tuscan town and it was a wonderful experience. Staying in a central location with easy access to the autostrada made driving and navigating very easy.

Margaret, May

Overall:
The location was excellent and good for day trips around the area. Several good local restaurants and eateries. Within one hours drive we could be in Volterra, Greve, Siena, etc.
Enjoyed Most:
It was very quaint and right in the small village of Barberino Val D'Elsa. Could walk for groceries, Internet cafe, restaurants.
Enjoyed Least:
Really no comfortable sitting area. The kitchen and sitting area were combined so you basically sat at the kitchen table or on a sofa by the table.
Surrounding Area:
The scenery, vineyards and other towns and small cities. Siena within a short drive.
Nearby Events or Locales:
This property is right in the old town.
Tips or Restaurants:
Definitely need a car to enjoy the area. The local transportation would be inconvenient. We went just up the street to the local estate winery "Pasolini". Massimo gave us a tour of their cellars which run under the town and we had the had tastings of their vintages, including grappa.
Check In Out:
We called ahead on our cell and ultimately got reception who met with us. We were staying up the road from the main property so dropped off bags and went back to the main area to park.

Overall:
Overall fantastic. We are planning to return next year and will definitely recommend to others. The the property caretaker was very pleasant to deal with and extremely helpful.
Enjoyed Most:
The view was fantastic. We were very pleased to arrive and find that the view rivaled the movies and my wife's fairy tale expectations of what the place would look like.
Enjoyed Least:
No major concerns. The small apartment we rented didn't have a stove which may have been nice but I'm assuming the other larger units have one.
Surrounding Area:
The town was very pleasant with necessities nearby. Good location for day trips and anything Tuscany had to offer.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Was within the village of Barberino Val D'elsa; definitely within walking distance.

Michael, October

Enjoyed Most:
The outside garden.
Enjoyed Least:
The centipedes.
Surrounding Area:
I loved that we were perched on a hill with great views of the valley.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were in a town, right next door to a church and 2 little restaurants.
Tips or Restaurants:
The local osteria is very good. The little pizzeria-pasta place makes great food but has terrible service.

Elizabeth, June

Overall:
Very well run...very accommodating.
Enjoyed Most:
The location is wonderful to take day trips to so many other towns, all within an hour. If you decide to just "hang out", just walk out the door and up the steps past the church to two very nice restaurants with very good food, fabulous wine, thin crust pizza, and incredible vistas. At the other end of town you can sample wine and olive oil.
Enjoyed Least:
It was all good. It's small but accommodates three people nicely. We looked at the larger units and if traveling with more than three...seek them out. They are gorgeous.
Surrounding Area:
The views look just like the pictures-paintings that you've seen in all your art history books. Spectacular!
Nearby Events or Locales:
You're in town. You can go to this tiny little market around the corner or walk down the main street to another large one.
Tips or Restaurants:
Go and enjoy yourself. There isn't a restaurant that we went to that wasn't good. If you drive out to Cortona, go to the Grotto. I salivate just thinking about the food. Driving out of town, on your right about five minutes there's a beautiful restaurant on the right side of the road. It's a brick and stone house with garden. Across the street is a vineyard. There's a green sign outside with a drawing of a pope...the name has something to do with a pope. We left the name with the property manager. The menu changes daily depending on what is available locally. The food is to die for.

Patricia, September

Overall:
Overall, a nice little apartment that makes you feel at home.
Enjoyed Most:
The village it is located in. The tasteful renovation. The view from the pool. The view from the bathroom.
Enjoyed Least:
That it is detached from the rest of the main property. The noise coming from Unit 5 located directly above the bedroom can become annoying.
Surrounding Area:
Perfectly located in the center of Tuscany. You can do day trips to Florence, San Gimignano, Siena, Volterra, etc...
Nearby Events or Locales:
It is in the village of Baberino.
Tips or Restaurants:
The two restaurants on each side of the church are great with a preference to the one on the right side facing the church.
Directions:
Emphasize the fact that the directions work even if you are coming from Roma. It is faster that cutting across the Chianti area...
Check In Out:
Cecilia was wonderful and extremely helpful.

Jean-marc, October

Overall:
A beatiful spot for relaxing, recovering and enjoying time with friends.
Enjoyed Most:
What superb views from the pool. As well as the warm welcome from the on-site manager. The town itself was a glorious Tuscan village, with easy access to all the local sights as well as Florence and the rest of Tuscany.
Enjoyed Least:
The apartment was a little far from the pool. THe main road was a little noisy going past the property, paricularly at peak hour.
Surrounding Area:
All the small villages and towns, vineyards and the sensational sunsets. I felt on top of the world. The local restaurant was fantastic, great food at good prices with local hospitality.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were in a town, right in the middle, so easy access.
Tips or Restaurants:
The local restaurant was so excellent it was hard to bother going farther afield. It would have been nice to have a CD player to play music.

Kate, July

Overall:
The view of the surrounding countryside from the pool area is worth at least half the price of your stay. Lounging next to the water in the evening, looking out over the hills toward Florence while enjoying the sights and smells of the well-tended gardens, is to know contentment. The caretaker of the property keeps everything working and looking nice. We had a problem with the shower while we were there and she fixed it immediately.
Enjoyed Most:
The atmosphere of the place. It's within the old city of Barberino Val D'Elsa, an interesting place to stroll about.
Enjoyed Least:
If there are neighbors upstairs, you can hear much of the details of their day...or their night...through the ceiling.
Surrounding Area:
The Tuscan countryside is beautiful, as is Barberino. There is much to explore within easy driving distance of the property, including the wineries of the Chianti region, which is fantastically scenic.
Nearby Events or Locales:
You are right in Barberino Val D'Elsa - Unit 4 and 5. There are restaurants, bars, a post office, and a sundry of shops all within easy walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
In Europe one pays for everything, to include water in eateries. And Italy, unlike America, is not a land of free refills. We were in Tuscany in summer, and one litre of water split three ways went fast, especially at around 3.00USD a pop. It would be prudent to carry a small cooler if you're traveling by car, to keep some drinks in. Walking around the area you can get parched pretty quickly, and stopping to buy drinks, even water, gets expensive.
Check In Out:
Very easy.

Enjoyed Most:
The view, the pool, the local representative, the local people, the two local restaurants, the Tuscan charm of the apartment and general area. Our experience with Tuscany was nothing less than stupendous. It was absolutely as picture perfect as I imagined. The property manager was the most gracious hostess we could have asked for. She went above and beyond. We had a train delay and the car rental was a little troublesome, but we called her to let her know and she graciously said to take our time. We didn't arrive until 10PM, and since she lives near, came over to help us park the car, got us familiarized us with the rental and even made dinner reservations for us at 11PM. The restaurant was out of this world. The apartment was VERY clean and well appointed. The owner made all of the furniture and they were gorgeous.
Enjoyed Least:
The distance to the pool, laundry, parking from our apartment. Bring a good map. We thought that our apartment was IN the villa, but it was actually a few minutes walk from the main villa. Also, although safe & secure, we had to park the car at the villa and walk to and from the apartment.
Surrounding Area:
The view, the pool, convenience of location to many popular destinations.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Outside of the village where the apartment is located, the closest town is Tavernelle, which is a 5-minute car drive away.
Tips or Restaurants:
The local restaurant and pizzaria were out of this world in both selections of food and wines. Be sure to brush up on your Italian. All of the locals encountered were helpful and considerate. Be sure to get good directions to the big grocery store called PAM. They have everything you need.

Keith, May

Overall:
It is well worth the money. The other units are larger.
Enjoyed Most:
Very well managed. The access was good and in the small town.
Enjoyed Least:
If the unit over us was occupied you could hear every foot step.
Surrounding Area:
The people were wonderful. The area was beautiful. There were local shops and dining. Larger stores were within a short drive. The location was central to many, many small and large towns.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Poggibonsi, and you needed to drive.
Tips or Restaurants:
The restaurant right above the property is very good. It is a good idea to bring you own computer to watch movies, since there is not much on TV in English. Everything else you can get at the local stores in Poggibonsi.
Directions:
From the start of your dirve you must watch all of the signs. When in a round-about and you are not sure where to exit, go around again. If you stay with your signs you will be OK.
Check In Out:
Very easy and well done.

Chuck, May

Overall:
We loved it and told many friends about it.
Enjoyed Most:
We loved everything! It was great to be able to live in town and have access to the pool and garden. The apartment was well appointed and had everything we needed. We saw the apartment just behind the pool with the four bedrooms and decided that we would love to stay there with friends.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing.
Surrounding Area:
We loved the town - the church, the alimentari, the pizzeria and trattoria, the views and we really enjoyed hiking to some of the other towns around.
Tips or Restaurants:
Take the road out of town towards Pisa either by car or foot. It is spectacularly beautiful and there is a small-scale model of the Duomo in FLorence up on the next ridge. Lots of switchback roads, great views and old stone towns.

Julie, September

Overall:
We enjoyed our stay in Unit 4. We are very much looking forward to returning!
Enjoyed Most:
The location. We were on a walkway right below two of our favorite restaurants in Tuscany! Also, the privacy of the pool, and the views from the pool!
Enjoyed Least:
The Shell gas station sign that was in the view from the bedroom and porch.
Surrounding Area:
The surrounding views of vineyards and olive groves, absolutely breathtaking. The close proximity of Florence, less than 30 minutes. We enjoyed everything!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Barberino Val D'Elsa. It was a very nice walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
Stay longer. The resturants in the right above the property are wonderful.
Directions:
Pay close attention to the signs at the rotaries. We passed the main street into Barberino three times, then we read the signs very carefully!!
