Customer Reviews

Overall:
We had a tremendous time. We especially enjoyed our cappuccino out on the terrace. We had so many plans to visit other areas, but we cancelled some of those outings because we enjoyed creating our own antipasto, pouring a glass of vino, and relishing the solitude.
Enjoyed Most:
The terrace and view.
Enjoyed Least:
We wished we could open the screen doors to go directly out onto the terrace, but it wasn't a big deal.
Surrounding Area:
We loved the local markets, fresh fruits and vegetables, and of course being surrounded by olive and lemon trees. We also loved the local churches and the many paths to walk.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Praiano is by far the most tranquil town on the coast.
Tips or Restaurants:
All the eateries in Praiano are superb.
Directions:
You could get on a train from Naples to Sorrento. Then you would need to get on the Sita bus from Sorrento to Praiano. Once in Praiano, you could walk to the Tutto per Tutti small grocery store to meet the manager to walk you up the 128 steps to the villa. The walk is worth all the food and wine we drank. We came home and didn't gain any weight.
Check In Out:
Check in and check out process was excellent. Filomena was always on time and so nice. She provided maps and information on events throughout the Amalfi Coast.

Overall:
We had a nice time and saw Amalfi, Positano, Capri and Sorrento. House is very nice and clean. People around us all nice and friendly and helpful. We had a few meals out and the food everywhere was good. Convenient to have a market at the foot of our hill.
Enjoyed Most:
The view--beautiful.
Enjoyed Least:
Probably the stairs...a young person would have no problem but we are in our 60's. They were a bit rough to navigate for me.
Surrounding Area:
It is extremely quiet and the neighbors are all friendly. It is perfect for someone wanting peace, quiet, and privacy.
Nearby Events or Locales:
No, not for us. The next closest town would probably be Amalfi and you need to take a bus or a taxi anywhere you want to go other than Praiano.
Tips or Restaurants:
We had pizza at Che Bonta...very good. Good service and reasonable prices. Also there was a take out place within walking distance that was very good. Bring wash cloths and the items mentioned on the list sent by RentVillas. Also bring aspirin and antibiotics in case of illness.
Directions:
We had a taxi take us. He called the local manager for directions. We did not drive and did not rent a car.
Check In Out:
No, it went very smoothly. Antonietta and Philomena were helpful and on time.

Overall:
It was wonderful and we would stay again!
Enjoyed Most:
The views were incredible. The property is very well-kept and we loved the family that owned the property. We were also given eggs from their chickens! The market at the end of the road was easy to get to and had a very good selection of food.
Enjoyed Least:
The 130 steps to get to the property--like a Stairmaster everyday at least once or twice. Guess that meant we could eat more pasta!
Surrounding Area:
The other cities were just a bus ride away. We also enjoyed the local stores and restaurants.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The actual village of Praiano is within walking distance and has a few nice restaurants. Other small towns are a 5-10 minute bus ride.
Tips or Restaurants:
We brought sweetener and Ziplock bags. We also found a great restaurant in the city of Praiano, Che Bonta'-- they also did food to go or, as it's called in Italy, to "take away".
Directions:
We had a car pick us up from Naples and bring us to the property. I would do that again.
Check In Out:
The overall check-in and check-out were good. When we arrived there was not a porter to take our luggage to the property which was part of the cost. Going up all those steps was a challenge. We did have someone when we left. Ask for the Internet code upon arrival; the Internet worked well.

Overall:
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience living with the local people of Praiano and feeling away from our fellow tourists. A simple polite "Buon giorno" greeting from us brought polite and appreciative responses from locals who must see a constant flow of people like us with safari-like tourist clothing and day-packs navigating their narrow vias and numerous stairs. This is a beautiful place to live for several days shopping at the local market, preparing your own fresh meals, and enjoying relative solitude and privacy high atop the limestone hills overlooking the town below and Mediterranean Sea beyond.
Enjoyed Most:
Casa Praiano has a very large outdoor space to enjoy the perfect weather and sun that warmed our stay during early October. It was very clean with a well outfitted kitchen for cooking the fresh meals from the local market. Modern amenities such as laundry, gas stove, stand-up shower, and dishwasher were very welcome.
Enjoyed Least:
A lot goes into making a house/home perfect for anyone. The door screens were broken or cumbersome to navigate; therefore, we left them open which allowed mosquitos and pesky flies into our otherwise perfect villa. Local dogs and roosters provided middle of the night wake-ups which we managed by closing the bedroom door to the deck. Also, locals will burn their gardens to make fertile soil to grow fresh vegetables, but this creates an occasional unexpected smoke-filled house.
Surrounding Area:
Beautiful, rustic, clean, quiet, distant church bells, breezes from the sea, content and friendly local population, forced aerobic and strength training whenever you leave the Villa. Our caloric output surely exceeded input - it's a healthy work-out on the Amalfi Coast.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Positano was the closest town, an "easy" drive or bus ride. As a driver, first and second gear are all you need to travel from town to town with occasional short visits to third gear just before braking for the tourist coach coming around the corner, just missing you and the guy on the scooter passing you because that's what they were born to do.
Tips or Restaurants:
Prepare for lots of stairs. Walking in Praiano and Positano requires a good level of fitness, lung, and leg power. Just walking from the coastal road down to the Praiano "Beach" then back up again and the rest of the way back to Casa Praiano would be rated a "moderate to strenuous" hiking trail at an American national park. However always remember that the pay-off for this effort is something to actually relax from, cause hunger for that awesome upcoming meal, and solitude atop the limestone cliff that underlies Casa Praino. We liked the sunset party at the orange umbrella Praiano Beach. The highlight of our stay was being picked up at Praiano Beach and taken in a small but fast power boat with excellent local captain and guide over to Capri. We swam in the salty Med through grottos and caves among schools of little fish that fed the bigger fish we ate for dinner.
Directions:
We met the property rep at a local bar in Praiano which was easy to locate. There's no finding this villa without being personally escorted there. Be sure to pack very lightly as you will have to carry your luggage up many steps. This is not a deal-breaker - just be prepared for stairs, remembering the pay-off of solitude and spectacular views.
Check In Out:
We had a rental car and parking is difficult unless given a "Permit" spot on the nearest street to the villa. The owner of Casa Praiano should have a permit spot available. Because of the low season, we were able to cheat overtime in a "nearby" metered parking spot but risked a ticket every time. There is no actual parking "at the house" as some may be accustomed to expect in a rental property.

Overall:
Amazing view. Person who helped us find the villa was very nice. The villa was very clean.
Enjoyed Most:
The view was amazing. Loved the patio.
Enjoyed Least:
Lot of steps up to the property. One of the bedrooms had 2 twin beds and we were expecting a double bed.
Surrounding Area:
The coast was beautiful. We especially liked Sorrento. It took a long time to drive between towns.
Tips or Restaurants:
Expect the drive there to be longer than anticipated--it took a long time to drive between the towns on the coast.

Jenna, September

Overall:
The villa was larger than we anticipated and just peaceful and beautiful. Praiano was a great escape from the chaos/business of Positano. Enough great restaurants to go to without all the crowds/stress.
Enjoyed Most:
The terrazzo views were magnificent. The entire villa was big enough for 4-5 people without feeling crowded and with only 2 of us we had more than enough room. Kitchen is well stocked like your kitchen at home.
Enjoyed Least:
We seemed to have a problem everyday with enough hot water for showers since we shared the hot water supply with the owners.
Surrounding Area:
Peace/quiet and the generosity of the owners downstairs bringing us fresh figs, eggs, vegetables daily from their garden/chicken coop. Upon arrival we celebrated Notte Bianca with the locals and just completely immersed ourselves into the neighborhood.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Praiano is adorable and there is a very convenient grocery store/ market at the end of the ramp. The beach is a little farther by stairs or ramps and again a great way to meet the locals.
Tips or Restaurants:
Be prepared for the stairs to the villa and around town. They are a short cut but you must be in shape. By the end of the week we were in better shape than when we started.
Directions:
We took a car service from Naples which allowed us to enjoy the view and avoid the hairpin turns and the passing Vespas.
Check In Out:
The process was flawless. Filomena was efficient and completely engaging. Frank was a godsend helping us with our bags up and down the stairs.

Overall:
We loved the apartment. It was immaculate and thoroughly equipped with everything we needed. The owner and her family were extremely helpful. The local grocery store, Tutti per Tutti was close and had great local wine, fruits, veggies, etc. We traveled with our two 20-something sons who had no problem getting around by foot, bus or water taxi.
Enjoyed Most:
The view was spectacular. We spent a good deal of time on the balcony which was large and private. The color of blue changed every day and each day was more beautiful. We had one brief thunderstorm during the two weeks we were there, but this was also an incredible sight from the balcony.
Enjoyed Least:
The first few days the stairs were a bit of a challenge, but we got used to it and found we were in much better shape when we left. The climb was totally worth it! Vale la pena!
Surrounding Area:
The town of Praiano was exactly where we wanted to be. It is not as touristy as some of the towns on the Amalfi Coast, yet had great restaurants, local food and beaches. We also traveled by boat and water taxis which were reasonably priced and a very picturesque way to travel.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Praiano was the nearest small town and was easy to walk to. We could walk to the town and the beach. There are many stairs or one could walk on the roads which were not quite as steep.
Tips or Restaurants:
Our favorite restaurants were Trattoria San Genaro in town, Trattoria da Armandino on the beach and the best little Pizza place ever, "Che Bonta."

Overall:
It was fantastic. The location was amazing and the view to die for. It is such a gorgeous part of the country and we would highly recommend it.
Enjoyed Most:
The serenity. It was peaceful 'at the top' and despite a lot of stairs, it was all worth it once you reached the property.
Enjoyed Least:
We liked it. There were a lot of stairs about 130 but it was part of the charm, even though you'd be red in the face by the time you reached the top! The entire area involves steep climbs and lots of stairs so it was not unusual.
Surrounding Area:
The beaches and coastline were phenomenal.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Praiano. We walked mostly to the market and drove to other places.
Tips or Restaurants:
There were no condiments whatsoever in the property. No salt, no pepper etc. You pretty much need to supply everything that you would use in cooking so be prepared.
Directions:
We used a map and the written directions. At other times we used a GPS and it could find the town, but we never tried to find the actual address it was up a ramp and then loads of stairs.
Check In Out:
It was all fine.
