Customer Reviews

Overall:
We had a wonderful time. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The children had great fun running about the large yard.
Enjoyed Most:
Proximity to town. And, its beauty.
Enjoyed Least:
Kitchen was small, and removed from the living areas.
Surrounding Area:
We loved walking to town, shopping and eating out. We traveled to Siena, and several other small towns in the area.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montalcino was a short walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
We really did not have spectacular meals. We often ate supper at the villa, as we had small children with early bedtimes and many of the restaurants were closed until 700 or 730. Grifa's pizza was probably our best meal out.
Directions:
We did use GPS.
Check In Out:
Monica, who did our check-in and check-out was very accommodating. We were later than anticipated arriving (serious navigation problems leaving Florence) and then we had a 7:30 am flight out of Florence on our departure day, so she came to check us out at 4:30 in the morning, with great grace.

Beth, May

Overall:
I love the town of Montalcino and I think it is the essence of Tuscany. This villa is in a great location with a short walk to all.
Enjoyed Most:
Lot's of room inside and out it is very clean. The bathrooms have all been upgraded since my last stay there. The grounds are beautiful.
Surrounding Area:
The town itself. The small park at the top of the hill. The Coop, the Fortress, the wonderful churches, the people in the town....I could go on and on, we met so many people. The restaurants are all great! The wine bars are a real treat.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Yes. A short walk to town center.
Directions:
Very good directions. Drove right to it.
Check In Out:
Monica is very efficient, and welcoming. English is a problem, but somehow we sorted it all out.

Barbara, April

Overall:
It exceeded all expectations. Check-in, check-out, Monica was the best! The house was very clean and ready for us. Monica was very attentive if we had any questions or needs. Her husband was a peach, too.
Enjoyed Most:
Everything. It was a family home. The close proximity to Montalcino was invaluable. We walked up to dinner every single night. The home was perfect, plenty of space and privacy for all. The yard was beautiful with lots of room to play soccer, catch and move around. Even got to eat apricots that were perfectly ripe and falling off the trees. The pool was shallow, but everyone loved it. It was an ideal location for visiting other cities, and sights in the vicinity. The kitchen was completely efficient. I just didn't get to use it enough as we always headed up the hill to dinner. The dishes and cutlery were top notch. The laundry facilities were perfect. The bedrooms all had good privacy and access. The bathrooms were all very bright, clean and spacious. The living room was a wonderful space in which 7 of us were completely comfortable watching World Cup Soccer. The dining room was great, but unused as we took advantage of Montalcino every single night.
Surrounding Area:
We loved being able to walk up to Montalcino in the mornings to get our papers, have a cup of coffee and enjoy the mostly traffic-free streets. The grandchildren loved playing soccer in the streets with all the other Italian children in the evenings. They also, after several tries, found their favorite gelato store. We loved our dinners up there. Osticcio was our favorite, but there was a pizzeria (two doors down from Osticcio) that put their TV outside that had fabulous pizza, very good food, great, friendly service. This is where we could keep an eye on the children while they played soccer and we continued to enjoy our wine and finish a more leisurely dinner. We were able to see sights, Pienza, Siena, the Abbey to name a few in the mornings and be home in time for swims and relaxation before heading up the hill to dinner. It was a perfect location.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montalcino....3-5 minute walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
Read number six for restaurant ideas. Pack at a minimum as you can do laundry. Nothing is fancy.
Directions:
We found the house perfectly without a GPS.
Check In Out:
Monica is the best!!!!! Check in and check out were simple and efficient.

Marni, July

Overall:
We love Villa Montalcino. This was our second visit. It's a beautiful house and a great location.
Enjoyed Most:
Close to town; great size. Lovely garden. The property feels as though it's in the country, but it's close to everything.
Enjoyed Least:
Barking dogs. We would have liked to have had more hot water.
Surrounding Area:
Lovely towns nearby.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montalcino; yes, it's a one minute walk!
Directions:
Used GPS.
Check In Out:
all good

Amanda, April

Overall:
Fantastic. The villa was nicely done with modern amenities while retaining it's old world charm. It was so picturesque, even better than I had hoped for.
Enjoyed Most:
The beautiful setting with great outside areas to stroll, read, nap or eat. State of the art appliances were an unexpected treat in the kitchen, along with cupboards well stocked for cooking and serving. Wonderful to be able to walk to town for all our needs and leave the car at the villa.
Enjoyed Least:
Our visit was during some beautiful Sept weather, so we kept the windows open and we had lots of street noise, barking dogs, and a rooster. All of that became part of our surroundings and experience, but it was not really a quiet setting.
Surrounding Area:
Beautiful scenery in every direction. We enjoyed wine tastings at Biondi-Santi and Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona di Bianchini. This is Brunello country!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montalcino was within walking distance, which was a wonderful benefit. It allowed our group to come and go as they pleased since they could walk into the village.
Tips or Restaurants:
We arranged to have a chef prepare a meal at the villa on the Sunday after our arrival. This was probably our smartest planning. The chef couple was delightful, giving us pointers around the area, sharing their local produce and providing us with enough left-overs for days. Stock up on toilet paper. This needs to be on the market item list for initial stocking of the villa. We had six ladies in the villa and we had to search out an open market on the Sunday following our arrival.
Directions:
We had lots of issues getting to the property and our 2 hour drive from Rome turned to 5. We did try to use a GPS but we had service issues, so that was nothing to do with the directions to the property. Once we were familiar with the village the directions were obvious, but they were not obvious on our initial entry to town. We took a wrong first turn and never recovered, probably drove around the village an hour. Unfortunately, this was a critical time when a little English from the keyholder or Italian from the guests us might have saved lots of frustration.

Sara, October

Overall:
Good
Enjoyed Most:
Location and view
Enjoyed Least:
The barking dogs
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montalcino is the nearest town and it is within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Ear plugs for the barking dogs.

Tom, September

Overall:
Enjoyable but could have been better if the dog noise problem was not there. The weather was great and our grandchildren anjoyed the pool.
Enjoyed Most:
Furnishing in the house were exceptional and exceeded our needs for our stay. Garden surrounds very nice and outdoor area very practical for us at meal times.
Enjoyed Least:
Noise of the close road and the howling dogs across the road causing sleepless nights and very early morning starts. Cleaning fee excessive and considering the weekly price should have been included.
Surrounding Area:
Scenery and history.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montalcino was within walking distance however, considering that we needed a vehicle to get to the Villa, to counteract the noise problem, the location could have been further away from town thus away from the noise problem.
Tips or Restaurants:
Your Booking agent suggested we bring ear plugs!!!!! Make sure agent stresses that the property's pantry is completely bare because if the supermarket is closed there is very little you can buy at the other shops. We tried three restaurants and they ranged from only average to poor.
Directions:
We used a GPS to find the property.
Check In Out:
Unable to access property until 5:00pm a problem. Lanaguage difficulties. No food available as per above. Check out by 9:00am on following Saturday and the check out person did not have correct change for refund of deposit less electricity and cleaning fee and language difference caused embarassment over a small amount of money which we just said, "dont worry about it".

Lynne, July

Overall:
We loved everything about the house and grounds. It was picture-perfect.
Enjoyed Most:
The views.
Enjoyed Least:
The noise from trucks, cars, and motorcycles in the town. The chickens, dogs, and roosters were fine and added to the experience, but not the motor traffic.
Surrounding Area:
We enjoyed the proximity to town and all its offerings.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montalcino was within walking distance.
Directions:
The directions from the south are inaccurate. They should say take first turn off S2 to Montalcino. On entering Montalcino it would be helpful to warn about the sharp left turn; you must take this to avoid entering the city gate. It was very hard to see the street sign for Via Moro.

Loretta, May

Overall:
We loved the house and the town of Montalcino. We loved the outside table and sat there all the time. We were able to relax and enjoy our time together as a family. Monica was able to communicate to us about how to use all the appliances, etc, even though we did not speak the language. The bottle of wine left for us was a nice touch.
Enjoyed Most:
The outside area. The location in relation to the town was great. The structure of the house was amazing and beautiful. The entire house was inviting. We loved the windows and sat and looked out over the countryside.
Enjoyed Least:
The kitchen was small, the showers were not up to American standards, but we knew that and it wasn't really a big deal. The washing machine was hard to use so we took our clothes in to the laundry in town. As others commented, the dogs near the house barked!!! All of us had difficulty falling asleep or were awoken at one point or another by the dogs.
Surrounding Area:
We felt safe and were able to allow our children to go into town to get gelato alone. The views from the town were stunning. The town was so friendly, inviting and relaxing. We had a great time just walking in for lunch and a drink. The restaurants and food was wonderful. The shops were great. We really felt like we were part of the community by the end of the week.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montalcino was in walking distance, but what a walk! It was a hike up a hill. We really didn't mind it, though, others may find it bothersome.
Tips or Restaurants:
At this house, there was no need for extra towels, etc. We brought the wrong kind of dishwasher and washing machine soap from home, so buy it at the local store. We brought games to play and DVDs for the kids to watch during the down time.
Directions:
We used a GPS to find the property. We did have some difficulty in that the entire street names were not included. Once we got the hang of it, we were off and running.

Margaret, June

Overall:
We had a fabulous time at this property. The pictures do not do it justice. The home is a beautiful charming villa with incredible grounds and a beautiful pool. The town of Montalcino is a quaint hilltop village. It retains all of the history and authenticity of an ancient site tower, fortress, duomo and piazza. Yet, because of its location in the famous Brunello wine district, the town is filled with sophisticated Enoteca wine cellars for your wine tasting pleasure. Overall, we had a great experience which encompassed relaxing time at the villa property, frequent walks into town and day trips to Siena, Florence and some of the small villages that dot the Tuscan countryside.
Enjoyed Most:
Although the house did not lack for space in the common areas and bedrooms, the outdoor terrazza and grounds are so lovely and well-kept that we spent a lot of relaxation time eating meals on the terrazza and relaxing by the pool after a full day of exploring and visiting sites. Also, a big thumbs up to Monica and her husband. We arrived unannounced early in the day and they welcomed us with a huge warm welcome with suggestions on how and what to do for our first day, while she finished readying the home. Her husband was also there and he too made us feel right at home. One day he picked cherries for us from the trees on the property and brought them in to us. Finally, a huge plus is the proximity of this villa to town. It is literally a 5-minute walk. The villa has the privacy of a remote property, but the convenience of an apartment set in town. Also it was an easy drive to Siena and Florence. There are numerous vineyards to visit within a ten minute drive.
Enjoyed Least:
We were very concerned about these dogs that we had read about in other visitor comments. I even brought earplugs. But we really did not have a problem with them. The few times that they did bark , it lasted for a very short time - less then 5 minutes. And it never happened at night. I assume that some changes have occurred since those other comments were written. Also, although this totally was not a problem for us, this property is a bit of a drive from the autostrada. But there is still Florence, Siena and other villages that are easy to get to without driving all the way to the autostrada. But if you are doing a bunch of ambitious driving everyday involving the autostrada, this would be a consideration.
Surrounding Area:
As I mentioned earlier, one is next to a charming village and smack dab in the heart of a great Tuscan wine territory. Brunello has become a critically acclaimed wine, world renown for the past decade. The Banfi Vineyard and restaurant are only about 15 -20 minutes away. There is also Antica Poggio Vineyard about 5 minutes away. The countryside is beautiful beyond anything captured in all the paintings I have seen at the art festivals. This is Italy at its most authentic and relaxing.
Tips or Restaurants:
One of the best supermarkets in all of Italy was right in Montalcino. You can get your cheese, bread, prosciutto, olives, tomatoes and espresso or American grounds - all in one place. A couple of bottles of water and some fruit and you are equipped for your first terrazza feast. There was soap and laundry soap at the house already.
Directions:
We had a GPS. It was easy to get to the property. Road conditions were also good. There were 5 of us so we could not get a compact car. I was afraid the roads would be too narrow , but they were just fine.
Check In Out:
Monica makes the whole thing easy. If you have any questions she will answer them or get you the answer.

florence , June

Overall:
Excellent. We had a very nice time, some great restaurants in town. Ate outside on the veranda every evening.
Enjoyed Most:
The area and the proximity to Montalcino. It truly was a "walk to town."
Enjoyed Least:
The continuous dog barking. We were there in September and would have liked to sleep with the windows open, but we could not or we would be awaken during the night with the dogs barking and yelping. The kitchen was small and did not have room for more than one or two people at a time. We like to cook in with guests and it was hard in this place.
Surrounding Area:
The Town of Montalcino and its restaurants.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montalcino was only a few blocks.
Tips or Restaurants:
The house had only a limited supply of some essential things, like toilet paper. The Owner should be counseled that they should have a few rolls of extra toilet paper and paper towels. Also bring coffee filters. They have an American style coffee maker, but no filters. We made our own with paper towel.
Directions:
We used a GPS with European maps installed and it worked fine using the address.
Check In Out:
Remember to bring cash for the deposit.

Peter, September

Overall:
We loved the proximity to the town of Montalcino. We had thought to use this as a base for lots of day trips in Tuscany but we fell in love with the town and ended up just spending most of our time becoming part of the village
Enjoyed Most:
The proximity to town was great. As well the property itself was so large it felt like being in the country while being in town. We loved the huge back porch and ate all of our meals out here, including breakfast.
Enjoyed Least:
I would have liked more of a gourmet kitchen, with space for more than one cook, but given the design of the house it really isn't possible.
Surrounding Area:
It was like living inside a postcard, the area is beautiful.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montalcino was within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
We liked the little pizza place at the top of the hill, La Botteguccia has the best cappuccino in the world, there is not a bad bottle of wine to be had anywhere.
Directions:
We used a combination of GPS and maps.
Check In Out:
Monica and her daughter were great.

Leona, July

Overall:
We had a wonderful time. The proximity of the property to Montalcino made it fun to walk into town each night for dinner.
Enjoyed Most:
The location and the pool. To be able to cool off each afternoon was very nice.
Enjoyed Least:
Hard to say.
Surrounding Area:

Enjoyed Most:
Convenience to Montalcino. Really only a 10 minute walk to the center of town. Convenience to other places like Siena, Pienza San Quirico, Sant'Antimo.
Enjoyed Least:
The dogs nearby. Even with the windows closed, we heard them in the morning.
Surrounding Area:
All the small towns mentioned above plus the great Tuscan food and wine.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montalcino is a 10-minute walk away.
Tips or Restaurants:
Lots of restaurants in Montalcino. Les Barriques was our favorite. We also ate at El Grifo twice. The restaurant at Hotel Grigilio was very good.
Check In Out:
As everyone says, Monica is delightful even though she speaks no English. We had no problem understanding how everything worked.

Edward, November

Overall:
It is a beautiful, spacious house with lovely furnishings.
Enjoyed Most:
The grounds are equally beautiful and very private even though it is in town. There were 2 showers which was a big help with 5 women. As most everyone has written, the keyholder and her daughter are wonderful. They are able to communicate everything very well without much English.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing! We loved it! There is some noise from the street but we were not bothered by it, nor were we bothered by the occasional barking of the dogs.
Surrounding Area:
We loved being able to walk into the town of Montalcino. Also, there are vineyards everywhere and we enjoyed visiting them as well.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montalcino is a very short walk - maybe 5 minutes uphill.
Tips or Restaurants:
The house is very well appointed and we did not need a lot of the additional things that we brought. There were toilet paper, paper towels, soap, etc., already there when we arrived. Then, we just went to the store for the food items.
Check In Out:
Everything went very smoothly. The keyholder is very punctual and helpful.

Kristin , October

Overall:
Overall, a beautiful place.
Enjoyed Most:
The home is beautiful, spacious and well cared for and maintained. The patio and garden are wonderful.
Enjoyed Least:
Barking dogs.
Surrounding Area:
Montalcino is a beautiful mountain-top city and the environs are beautiful. We were there during the harvest and did a lot of wine tasting. Siena is nearby.
Tips or Restaurants:
Many great restaurants with lots of opportunities for wine tasting. Bring ear plugs.
Check In Out:
The woman who checked us in didn't know a word of english, so it was sign language all the way.

Dennis, September

Overall:
Having the pool in the summer months was a godsend.
Enjoyed Most:
The view and the proximity to the town of Montalcino. The outdoor porch and dining area were lovely.
Enjoyed Least:
The truck traffic along the road that ran along the side of the villa and the dogs next door.
Surrounding Area:
The town of Montalcino. The cathedral at St Antimo. The whole area was beautiful.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montalcino was a three-minute walk away.
Tips or Restaurants:
There are many good restaurants and wine bars in Montalcino. Il Gardino was particularly nice. A number of the big vineyards in the area have restaurants attached to them. The Banfi vineyard was very nice.
Check In Out:
Managers were very friendly and very helpful.

Electa, July

Overall:
We loved the villa and recommend it highly. Those pesky dogs were an occasional nuisance, but the combination of a nice spacious villa with beautiful grounds so close to a wonderful town like Montalcino is hard to beat.
Enjoyed Most:
The easy walk to the town of Montalcino, the grounds around the villa, the wonderful back terrace area overlooking Tuscany - good for drinks or dining around the pool and deck area - the spacious bedrooms, and nicely appointed bathrooms.
Enjoyed Least:
The kitchen is small, so only 2 or 3 people can participate in meal preparation and the neighboring dogs, when they decide to bark in the middle of the night, can be a nuisance.
Surrounding Area:
Montalcino is a wonderful hilltop Tuscan town with lots to see and do. And the surrounding area has so many interesting villages and sights within an hour's drive that we forgot most of our planned journeys to more distant destinations.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montalcino. It was a short 5 minute walk up a hill and some steps to the city walls. This allowed the 7 of us to come and go alone or in groups as we liked and allowed to set our own schedules instead of having to get in a car to do anything. This was the best aspect of this villa, and it is a wonderful villa at that!
Tips or Restaurants:
We enjoyed having our iPod and portable speakers for good dinner and dancing music on the back terrace. And we found a nice cafe' in town called "Cafe Alle Logge di Piazza" that was an Internet hot spot with free wireless, good cappuccino, and beautiful views of Tuscany that our teenage and older daughter enjoyed visiting.
Check In Out:
As others have pointed out, Monica speaks no English, but she is very good at taking you thru the property and showing you where everything is and how everything works, and how the charges for phone and electricity will be handled. In addition, we asked to have some groceries bought which she did for us. She's great!

Stephen, June

Overall:
The villa itself is everything we had imagined - a true Tuscan paradise.
Enjoyed Most:
The location is very convenient to walk into Montalcino - the ability to be part of a small Tuscan town for a week, particularly after the "day-trippers" had left was fantastic. As advertised, the keyholder Monica does not speak English, yet she is able to perfectly convey all information. She is an absolute sweetheart!!
Enjoyed Least:
The dogs barking at the adjacent property during the night - this was the only negative.
Surrounding Area:
Being able to get out and explore the numerous vineyards and sampling many outstanding Brunello wines.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montalcino - the villa is right outside the city walls.
Tips or Restaurants:
I highly recommend the dining room at the Hotel Giglio in town. For a wonderful meal on a working farm-vineyard, visit the Fattoria dei Barbi outside of town, on the road leading to the Abbey. The taverna there is fabulous, and you can also purchase Pecorino cheese, meats and of course, their great Brunello wines.

Stanley, May

Enjoyed Most:
Great location.
Enjoyed Least:
Barking dogs.
Surrounding Area:
Easy walk to the town; fabulous town.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montalcino was an easy walk.
Directions:
You can see the gate from the traffic circle

Eric, May

Overall:
We loved it so much we plan on coming back next year to the same property.
Enjoyed Most:
The house was perfect for our family, which included 3 children. The yard is very large and enclosed and a lot of room for everybody. The proximity to town was great - 5 minutes by foot. I also agree that the pictures do not do this house justice. Also, it was spotlessly clean.
Enjoyed Least:
I could see the dogs being an issue in the summer. They weren't for us, but it was cool and we had the windows closed at night.
Surrounding Area:
Great location for exploring towns in all directions.
Nearby Events or Locales:
5-minute walk to town.
Tips or Restaurants:
A navigation system for the roads was a must for us. Take advantage of the shopping feature. It was very nice to have some basic supplies upon arrival.

Dan, May

Enjoyed Most:
Close to town, great location. The place was very nice, quite comfortable. The pool is not large but the kids still liked it. The property manager is a very nice lady who does not speak English, but manages to convey the important information.
Enjoyed Least:
Noisy barking dogs.
Surrounding Area:
Wine country, medieval town.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montalcino.
Tips or Restaurants:
Le Barrique.

Elin , July

Enjoyed Most:
We loved the outside terrace and the pool for our family down times. Waking up with a cup of coffee and reading on the terrace is one of my favorite memories.
Enjoyed Least:
They were doing construction near the property and it was noisy during the work day. Also, Monica, the house representative, does not speak English. There was some confusion because of this, but she is very nice.
Surrounding Area:
We absolutely loved the city of Montalcino. It is so beautiful and charming. Though there were a number of tourists, there weren't nearly as many as the larger cities and we really got a sense of real life in an Italian town.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montalcino is a very easy walk of about five minutes.
Tips or Restaurants:
The house was well equipped with cooking utensils, hair drier, and iron. Per your instructions, the "Vape" bug units are a must as sleeping with the windows open was a wonderful feeling, but the bugs were not! The gelato store "Why Not" was friendly and delicious. "The Graf" pizzeria/restaurant was very good.
Directions:
We learned that it is easier to follow the city signs in Italy rather than trying to follow directions. We had many "map quests" printed out and we eventually stopped using them. The street names are confusing as they change often, sometimes even just as it runs through a private property. However, the city signs are well posted. You almost have to look at it as a subway. Know your final destination and a few major towns in between and just keep following the signs towards those cities. Montalcino is a well marked city.

Janine, July

Overall:
We would highly recommend this property for families with children. The proximity to Montalcino gave the kids a place to explore, the beautiful grounds were perfect for a day off from sight seeing, and the back porch was perfect for al fresco dining.
Enjoyed Most:
The grounds of the property were superb and the close proximity to town was an excellent bonus
Enjoyed Least:
Nearby dogs made for a lot of noise early in the AM. We brought ear plugs and turned on the fans which helped.
Surrounding Area:
Montalcino was an excellent place to use as a base for exploring towns like Siena. The Brunello wine was outstanding and the town of Montalcino was wonderful for experiencing Italian life first hand.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montalcino-- it is about 14 mile but up a hill. Definitely walkable and we walked there at least 2xday.
Tips or Restaurants:
We found an excellent restaurant called Poggio Antico outside of Montalcino. Excellent cuisine. The gelateria Why Not and the cafe La Fortezza for our morning coffee -- both in Montalcino.
Check In Out:
Monica, the caretaker, is fabulous. She does not speak any English so bring your phrase book.

Suzanne, June

Overall:
Would stay there again...nice grounds...well cared for.
Enjoyed Most:
Location...Near to the walled city of Montalcino.
Enjoyed Least:
Barking dogs.
Surrounding Area:
Scenic.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montalcino....a few hundred yards away.

Joseph, May

Overall:
It was absolutely fantastic! We were late in arriving, and the owners stayed to meet us - and showed us everything. Wonderful!! The trip was for my husband's retirement, and we took our adult children and spouses, plus a baby. Everything was fabulous. The villa was gorgeous. We had such a great time. There was even a crib for the baby. The villa was very easy to find.
Enjoyed Most:
House was fantastic. Great garden. Lots of space inside and out. We were never on top of each other. Loved being part of the village. One son-in-law is a chef, and he enjoyed cooking in the kitchen. Plenty of parking for two cars. Very secure.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing! The dogs certainly did not bother us at all.
Surrounding Area:
Loved being in a village and being able to walk into town every day - for shopping and dinner. It was a great location for day trips and getting around. One day we even took a picnic in the countryside.

Darlene, April

Overall:
Excellent - may chose it again in the future.
Enjoyed Most:
Property was better than the pictures. Very comfortable for 6 adults 3 couples - plenty of room to stretch out and relax. The garden area was very spacious and private. The town of Montalcino is very close - walking distance, 10 minutes - with stores, including a grocery store, restaurants, enotecas, everything you need to make your stay first class! Also, Montalcino is close to major highway access to make day trips very easy. Numerous vineyards to visit in the area.
Enjoyed Least:
Occasional dog barking.
Surrounding Area:
Very beautiful - good wines.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montalcino - 10 minutes walking
Tips or Restaurants:
They're all good in Montalcino
Check In Out:
Monica is great!

Mike, October

Overall:
Everything was great except the early morning noise.
Enjoyed Most:
The house was charming and well equipped and the property was quite large given the wonderful location near the town.
Enjoyed Least:
The noise from the dogs next store and loud sawing noise early in the morning.
Surrounding Area:
Charming towns , San Antimo, and beautiful countryside.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montalcino was only a 5 to 10 minute walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
We enjoyed eating in the beautiful outdoor restaurant, Al Vecchio Forno in San Quirco d'Orcia, the next town. The house had a crib and high chair.
Directions:
I would let people know that the villa off the circle below the fort.

Margaret , July

Enjoyed Most:
The villa was absolutely beautiful and far exceeded our expectations. It was filled with antiques, beautiful artwork, interesting books and was well equipped. Everything was of the highest quality. The living area, pool area and garden gave everyone a place to spend some time in peace. It felt like a home from home and not just a holiday rental property. It was very obvious that it was a house that the owners take great pride in.
Enjoyed Least:
We least liked the noise made by hunting dogs kept nearby the villa. The only drawback for us was the absence of a microwave as we found it difficult to warm our baby's food and bottles. This is only a problem for renters with babies though.
Surrounding Area:
We enjoyed being in the heart of the Tuscan countryside and yet close to the town of Montalcino. We had the freedom to walk into town anytime and also to take tours of the surrounding towns of Siena and Montepulciano.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The villa is located just outside the walls of Montalcino, which is a small and friendly town with all the necessary facililities for a great holiday. The walk uphill to the center of town took about 5-10 minutes and was ideal for going out for a coffee in the mornings, grocery shopping or for a meal at night.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring earplugs because of the dogs, otherwise everything you could want is there.

Overall:
The caretaker for the villa, Monica, was extremely helpful. The pump providing the water pressure for the villa stop working twice. With a phone call, she and a plumber/electrician were there within 10 minutes. They were able to provide a temporary repair until we left. The owners of the villa are fortunate to have her to manage the villa.
Enjoyed Most:
Closeness to Montalcino and the garden and porches.
Surrounding Area:
Visiting the other towns, churches, and wine and cheese shops in the nearby vineyards.

Overall:
A great property in a great location! Great jump off point for most of Southern Tuscany and Siena, and still close enough for a day trip to Florence, if you're looking for city activities.
Enjoyed Most:
The property was so close to town, yet isolated enough to get a "country" experience. The villa had all the amenities of a modern home with the feel of an old farmhouse.
Enjoyed Least:
Barking dogs at night.
Surrounding Area:
Montalcino and Montepulciano were magnificent. The area wineries are also second to none. You really can live off wine and cheese!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Honey festival was on in Montalcino the weekend we arrived.
Tips or Restaurants:
No visit is complete without a dinner at Poggio Antico. Try to catch the Gregorian monks chant mass at Sant'Antimo.

Overall:
I want to thank you and the members of your staff at Renvillas who made our trip to Italy a memorable experience. Lo Spuntone more than met our expectations and was perfect for our group. We cooked several meals there and found the kitchen to be well- equipped and convenient. The spacious rooms and grounds were perfect for gatherings of 7 adults for meals or for smaller groups or individuals to find a spot for relaxing. The location could not be improved on. We found Montalcino to be a delightful town for visiting, eating out, shopping, strolling, enjoying the view, and, of course, wine-tasting. It couldn't have been better as a base for visiting other nearby towns and the surrounding countryside. We also found the process of working with Rentvillas to be quite smooth and professional. We would certainly recommend you to our friends and family for future travel.
Enjoyed Least:
The only drawback to the villa has been mentioned by others - the howling dogs. This was particularly bothersome because we had to leave the windows open due to the unusual heat at the end of June. Some small fans might have helped as the dogs seemed to pick the middle of the night to howl. Otherwise, we couldn't have been happier with the villa.

This was the absolute perfect vacation getaway. It is ideally located right outside of Montalcino. The property is large and the villa is beautiful, ample, well stocked, and secure. We loved it.

I loved the location the best. Our view of the hills and countryside were magnificent. We seemed to be out of the city and in the country and yet we were within a short walking distance of the piazza.
Enjoyed Least:
There was nothing that I didnot like about the property. Everything was perfect.
Surrounding Area:
Montalcino is a small hill town of wonderfully friendly people. It is a clean and pretty town. And the wine and food is excellent. All was enjoyed.
Nearby Events or Locales:
This area is known for its Brunello wine and Pecorino cheese. You can buy the cheese and oils at the local farms along with salami, etc. Wine tastings are all throughout Montalcino.
Tips or Restaurants:
A car is a must for traveling to other hill towns. Taverna il Grappolo Blu in Montalcino serves incredible food. Luciano, the owner, was very helpful.

Enjoyed Most:
Convenient location within walking distance of town, and the spectacular view.

The dog at a nearby house barked during the night and early morning. We tried to leave the windows open to enjoy the cool night air but the noise forced us to keep them closed.

Montalcino is conveniently located within easy driving distance of numerous charming hill towns. We thoroughly enjoyed being able to visit different locations during the day and be back at Lo Spuntone for evening cocktails.

Overall:
What a charming villa. We would have been content with the patio and the 2 bedrooms alone. The villa was immaculately clean, very comfortable, beautiful grounds, view, entryway. Great access to the wonderful town of Montalcino. We walked up every morning for our Cappuccino. Would stay there again. Loved it!
Enjoyed Most:
The overall atmosphere, cleanliness, grounds. Angelo the gardener arrived every other day to attend to the flowers. We used the kitchen to cook and it was very adequate. Perfect for two couples.

I really can't think of a thing.
