Customer Reviews

Overall:
It was a wonderful place to stay. Paolo, Beatrice and all were very helpful.
Enjoyed Most:
I loved the openness of the villa and the breeze blowing through. Very tastefully furnished and everything was quite comfortable. Beautiful views. I would love to stay there in the Fall.
Enjoyed Least:
Getting into town without a car.
Surrounding Area:
I loved the views from the villa. The towns around are charming with a lot to explore.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Capannuccia was the closest town. Not really. It could be walked but if you are not used to the hills, it would be difficult for many. Best to drive into town.
Tips or Restaurants:
La Cantinetta de Rignana (Greve in Chianti) was absolutely amazing!
Directions:
The GPS seems to want to take you on the gravel road instead of the paved road. If you take the correct road it is not too bad.
Check In Out:
Very easy. I arrived a little earlier than the rest of the party and had no problem at all.

Overall:
Loved it, loved it. A great place for a large group, plenty of places to be together and then a wonderful bedroom to have some alone time.
Enjoyed Most:
The hilltop setting the views of Tuscany, the 15th century structure with modern plumbing.
Enjoyed Least:
No window screens.
Surrounding Area:
Ruffino winery less than 10 mins, proximity to larger more famous towns
Nearby Events or Locales:
Capannuccia, not walking distance, nothing within walking distance
Tips or Restaurants:
Incredible was La Cantinetta Di Rignana, hope to go again some time, difficult to find, though.
Directions:
We used a GPS, after we found it once it was easy but the first time we drove in circles down back dirt roads. The closer we got to the villa the less helpful the GPS.
Check In Out:
Paolo and Olivia were fantastic!!! I should have been the first to arrive with the deposit and passports but because of airline delays I was closer to the last. The early arrivals were welcomed and allowed in without difficulty. Checkout was a breeze. Can't say enough good about our hosts. They also arranged taxis and a babysitter one evening.

Overall:
It was a pleasant stay.
Enjoyed Most:
Nice rustic location and large enough for a big group.
Enjoyed Least:
Remote from shops and restaurants. Lack of screens in bedrooms. Let down by a few details, such as lack of pool towels and toaster. Did not like the red plastic chairs.
Surrounding Area:
Convenient to Florence and Chianti Country villages and small towns.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Cappannucia - not in walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring pool towels. Nearest restaurants in Greve - still a 20 minute drive.
Directions:
Take the FIRST exit after the toll booth when coming South on A1 - there is no sign at this turning for Cappannucia.

Overall:
We went to celebrate my deceased wife's memory and I cannot imaging a better place to have celebrated. Our dinner with the chef is and will be one of the most memorable dinners ever. All 18 of us enjoyed every aspect of the villa. Paolo was incredibly friendly and helpful.
Enjoyed Most:
The age, ambiance and history of the villa and yet it had all the modern conveniences and was very comfortable. The outside garden with lemons and limes was very peaceful
Enjoyed Least:
Difficulty in getting there following a GPS. Recommend highly people just follow written directions and do not follow GPS.
Surrounding Area:
The olives groves, the wild flowers and the fragrances.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Capannuccia; A very difficult walk back up the hill if you go along the paved road and in the heat. Very short ride by car.
Tips or Restaurants:
Not really; just go to the supermarket in Antella and you can get all you need there. Once you find the villa it is a good home base to see many things in Tuscany.
Check In Out:
None; Paolo was wonderful as well as his daughter.

Enjoyed Least:
Finding the property was very difficult.

Overall:
Could not have been better. The appearance, spaciousness, and condition of this masterful renovation far exceeded our expectation. The immaculate architectural detail illustrates a true labor of love.
Enjoyed Most:
The feeling of warmth. When we met the owner and his family, it was obvious they were genuinely kind and gracious and concerned we were completely satisfied with the accommodations.
Enjoyed Least:
The villa is somewhat remote and not within practical walking distance of shopping and restaurants. Location is subjective however. We appreciated being in the countryside with little or no traffic buzzing by. Major shopping was just a few minutes away in Grassina. We submitted a pre-arrival shopping list which was perfectly executed and with a little advance planning only made two shopping trips during our week stay. With the professionally equipped kitchen available, we enjoyed cooking most meals at home.
Surrounding Area:
The villa hillside setting among 150 or so acres of olive trees was absolutly stunning. Watching the evening sunset soon became a nightly tradition. On clear days Florence and the grand Duomo were visible to the northwest. Thoroughly enjoyed Greve in Chianti and the surrounding towns. The wine tasting at Le Cantine with over 1000 labels is a must.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Nearest small town was Capannuccia, just a short drive away. We shopped in Greve, a pleasant half hour drive down the Chiantigiana road, or at the Coop in nearby Grassina.
Tips or Restaurants:
The Greve area is loaded with too many good restaurants to mention. We particularily enjoyed lunch at Cafe Le Logge on Piazza Matteotti. As to the villa, it is very thoroughly equipped. Everything we needed was there including beach towels for the pristine pool.
Directions:
The only problem occurred after exiting the A1 from Rome at Firenze Sud. We could not find a Grassina sign. After making another approach, we found the sign to Siena and Greve which led us to Grassina. From there on, the directions were fine
Check In Out:
It was absolutely pleasant. We received our full deposit less the pre-arrival shopping list cost.
