Customer Reviews

Overall:
A wonderful two weeks was thoroughly enjoyed by our entire family of 20 people aged from 4 years up to 70 years. Facilities were excellent in every respect and assistance was readily at hand with any questions we posed to Roberta who was fantastic.
Enjoyed Most:
Views from all upstairs rooms were amazing as the Villa sits on top of the hill amongst the Olive groves and vineyards.
Enjoyed Least:
The swimming pool was excellently appointed but would be more usable with solar heating. The kids did venture in on the hottest days but the water temperature was too low to be comfortable even for them.
Surrounding Area:
Scenery and ambience of the Tuscan region was the best and the relative isolation of the Villa made this a peaceful haven to return to after visits to the key centres within a days drive.
Nearby Events or Locales:
San Donato in Collina is not far away but not walking distance unless you are very fit and had no shopping to carry. Stores are quaint but produce limited. Coffee is excellent at all shops in this village and fresh local produce when available was beautiful including the bakery.
Tips or Restaurants:
Absolutely essential to have a car as the shopping could not be managed any other way for such a large group. Shopping at the coop.com in Regnano sul'Arno was excellent for all our needs including local wines at good prices. The restaurant 100 Palms is quite close by and has excellent food supported by great service and wine ion advice from Daniel. Travel by train to Florence is easy but parking at the Regnano sul'Arno train station is quite difficult especially with the large people movers (vans) that we had hired.
Check In Out:
All went smoothly as Roberta was well equipped and experienced albeit that her English is sometimes limited but her efforts to assist in every way were very compelling.

Overall:
A once in life time experience. All our 3 children and four grand children plus visitors from Australia and the USA ( 19 in all) had a fabulous time. Over and beyond all our expectations.
Enjoyed Most:
Its size. Its position up on a hillside in relative seclusion. Opening the windows at night time. It was very hot for the two weeks we there. An unusual heat wave affected the whole of Europe but at night time cool breezes were wonderful. Being able to sit on the patio in the evening. The large swimming pool which adults and children alike spent a lot of time in. The ensuite bathrooms The large dining areas and a great kitchen. The two banquets that Roberta the owner organized for us were wonderful.
Surrounding Area:
The peace and quiet. The ability for joggers and walkers in our group to keep up their morning rituals on quiet roads and pathways amidst the olive groves associated with the villa.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Rignano sull'Arno (FI). It was not within walking distance but it had a small supermarket and coffee shop. Because of the size of the groups we had four cars so that was not a problem. There are other great supermarkets and wine stores within a 35 minute drive.
Tips or Restaurants:
No. Most everything we needed was already available.
Directions:
Some of us had problems getting from the rental car area associated with the Florence airport. It was quite complicated. I think the coordinates we received (GPS Coordinates Latitude 43.738637 Longitude 11.416271) were a bit off.
Check In Out:
Checking in and out was perfect. Roberta and her staff who cleaned every day were wonderful, friendly and courteous.

Overall:
Superb location for a family reunion. The lovely bedrooms rooms and big communal areas allowed family time and when needed, quiet time. 19 people were accommodated most comfortably.
Enjoyed Most:
The beauty of the villa and size and layout and its ability to accommodate all of us so comfortably.
Enjoyed Least:
The lack of cooling in the hot weather we experienced in July. We were supplied with fans, which certainly helped. The upstairs rooms heated up but at least with the big windows some evening breeze helped out.
Surrounding Area:
The views were just stunning.
Nearby Events or Locales:
No towns were in walking distance. We had to shop almost daily in Rignano sull'Arno which was approx 6km away. The local shops were great but of course we had to get used to their opening times which were not always consistent.
Tips or Restaurants:
A car is a necessity. Pack lightly as you have to haul your cases up many stairs. Mosquito repellant in the summer. Nuovo Rancho and 100 Palms were family type restaurants nearby for hearty Italian meals.
Directions:
A GPS is a necessity for getting around the district as well.
Check In Out:
I would like to commend the staff on their pleasant service.

Rosie, July

Overall:
The quiet fall views made for a special experience.
Enjoyed Most:
The quiet.
Enjoyed Least:
It was a bit of a drive to reach other places we wanted to see like Siena, Pisa, Volterra and San Gimignano.
Surrounding Area:
We enjoyed taking the train to Florence twice.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Rignango sul Arno was a 10 minute drive where there was a super market.
Tips or Restaurants:
Nuovo Rancho was good for dinner and the local winery had a nice tasting plate. Roberta is a good cook and her lasagna was the best I have ever had anywhere. TAKE BUG REPELLENT. I was eaten alive.
Directions:
Long story but the GPS was with the person who was delayed by a day. No problem with a good navigator BUT we missed the actual property.

Marcia, September

Overall:
Villa Gialla was absolutely spectacular for our group of 18 (7 couples, 4 singles). The private space was more than ample, and the public space was varied and comfortable. The grounds were lovely. The view was unbeatable. Aside from one late night (rather tame) party at the neighbor's house, it was completely serene. Exactly what we needed for our corporate retreat!
Enjoyed Most:
The kitchen was the best part of Villa Gialla. We had a number of amateur chefs among our group, and the enormous, well-stocked kitchen gave them plenty of opportunities to practice their skills.
Enjoyed Least:
The check-in procedure was a bit underwhelming, but I believe that is because the normal housekeeper was away. The lady who helped us out was the daughter of the groundskeeper and she was polite and kind, but a little flustered with the duty of playing the welcoming committee. Really, though, it was such a small thing in an otherwise perfect week!
Surrounding Area:
The surrounding area is quiet and charming. Besides the serenity in the immediate area, we enjoyed the proximity of a well-stocked COOP (grocery store) and well-connected train station, both in Rignano sull'Arno.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We didn't bother walking to town, largely because walking the main street (SP 89 di Bombone, not Via di Moriano) felt a bit like taking one's life into one's own hands. It also was fairly hilly, which was a bit off-putting to some of the less fit members of our group.
Tips or Restaurants:
Be sure to bring a swimsuit, as the pool is lovely (if a bit chilly!). And plan to eat at 100 Palmi in nearby Le Corti at least once; they brought us an onslaught of fresh seafood, local steaks, delicious pizzas, and cheap wine that will have all 18 of us raving for months and years to come!
Directions:
The entrance to the house is NOT at the address listed. The entrance is actually about 100m to the east, on a private road just off Via di Moriano. We used a GPS, which helped us get close; the housekeeper found us and waved us over to the entrance to the property.

Peter, July

Overall:
The property was well maintained, well-located, and the local contacts very helpful indeed. Would recommend it to others.
Enjoyed Most:
The kitchen facilities were excellent.
Enjoyed Least:
The outdoor eating area was small and hard to access on the second floor.
Surrounding Area:
close to many local venues
Nearby Events or Locales:
No--we needed a car for the closest town.
Directions:
We used GPS and it was excellent.
Check In Out:
Very good.

Overall:
We just returned from Italy, and we had a great time! The villa was fantastic and our hosts just fabulous. This was definitely a five-star experience. Everyone said it exceeded anything we imagined.
Enjoyed Most:
Our host was very accommodating and even shopped for us in advance of our arrival so that we had supplies, food and, drink when we arrived. The rooms were very comfortable and everyone had a great view. We spent a lot of time on the second floor patio with a view of the surrounding countryside that never got old. Evenings with antipasto and wine on the patio was a highlight of our trip.

Bill, June

Overall:
It was amazing. The villa was more than we expected. There was plenty of room, and the surroundings were beautiful.
Enjoyed Most:
The spacious villa.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing! I liked everything!
Surrounding Area:
The beauty.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Nothing was within walking distance. We had to drive everywhere.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring food to cook. Grocerey store was about 20-min drive.
Directions:
Hard to find. Even with GPS and directions. The property landlord was outside the villa or we would have never found it.

Joan, January

Overall:
An excellent experience. This villa is situated right in the heart of rural Tuscany and the atmosphere is fantastic.
Enjoyed Most:
The atmosphere and the sense of space and history of the place. The lady who managed it was very friendly and helpful.
Surrounding Area:
The rural peace and quiet was excellent combined with access to the surrounding area and roads in and out.
Nearby Events or Locales:
No town was within walking distance
Tips or Restaurants:
No. The exploration is the fun and the manager will tell you everything you want.
Directions:
We used a GPS which made it easy, but the instructions from the RentVillas were easy and accurate and a good back-up.
Check In Out:
We arrived earlier than expected (around 3 PM) and had to wait an hour. We went and did some food shopping so there was no hassle.

Michael, October

Overall:
The week of a lifetime. Everyone in our family of 16 was elated by the amenities and the comfort. We spent one whole day (our last Friday) together on the property. The other days we were traveling to Florence and beyond.
Enjoyed Most:
The beauty of the landscape and immediate surroundings--the lemon trees, the pool, etc. It was cool to have an automatic door to get in and out--kind of made us feel like nouveau riche.
Enjoyed Least:
It's distance from the Rignano train station. With so many people, it was a logistical challenge to get them all to the train station in time to get to Florence. Luckily, my son had rented a car also, so we both ferried the kids to the station, which took on average at least 20 minutes to and from.
Surrounding Area:
Most of all the rolling hills, the lush green ground cover, and brilliant red poppies everywhere. Poppies are Tuscan dandelions!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Rignano sull'Arno was the nearest small town (10 minutes by car)and over one hour by foot. Several of us walked the second day, but one of our daughters refused to repeat it since she felt it was too dangerous walking on the narrow highway.
Tips or Restaurants:
No need to bring towels or soap, etc. A huge plus to the property is the owner! She's an angel and so supportive, in spite of her limited facility with English. All the kids loved her.
Directions:
I don't think we could have found the property without the GPS but warn your future customers to be sure the GPS you get at the car rental is switched to English. It was maddening to hear the directions only in Italian, but the blue line on the screen helped immensely.

Jon, May

Overall:
The very best.
Enjoyed Most:
All 16 of us arrived at the same time. That first 10 minute walk through was nothing but spectacular. Everyone was overwhelmed with the beauty of every room and the grounds.
Enjoyed Least:
Leaving.
Surrounding Area:
Small towns, each with a unique pride sand history.
Tips or Restaurants:
Nuovo Ranch was a FABULOUS restaurant You can have a dinner prepared by a person recommended by the property manager. It will delight you more than any local restaurant. Don"t forget power converters.

John, July

Overall:
Very good - staff helpful - kitchen well equipped.
Enjoyed Most:
En suite bathrooms with each bedroom.
Enjoyed Least:
Living room/sitting area would not handle 17 people. We had to use the same towels all week. After some negotiation we were given extra towels midweek.
Surrounding Area:
Everything.
Tips or Restaurants:
100 Palms Restaurant - very good - very accommodating.

Frances, June

Overall:
We have rented villas in the past, however Villa Gialla and rentvillas.com surpassed our expectations. The owners and the staff were very accommodating; they offered suggestions on restaurants and wineries. All rooms were cleaned daily, which was unexpected.
Enjoyed Most:
Everything! The location of the villa is great. During the day, we traveled to different regions of Tuscany, went back to the villa to take showers and drove or took the train into Florence for dinner less than a 30 minute drive. We were a large group and there was always sufficient hot water. We took advantage of the enormous kitchen and especially enjoyed the wood charcoal grill which is in the kitchen.
Enjoyed Least:
There is nothing negative about this property.
Surrounding Area:
We really enjoyed Lucca and Siena. We spent time exploring small towns in the region and touring Florence. The 'Space' outlet was not as we expected and was not worth a stop. San Gimignano is a nice place to visit but we found it a bit too 'touristy'.
Nearby Events or Locales:
San Donato is the closest town, some may be able to walk it but not us!. The people in San Donato are wonderful. The cafe in town, has not only great coffee and pastries, but incredible bread, cheese, salami. Rignano Sul'Arno which is about 15 minutes drive away has a large grocery store. The train to Florence departs from Rignano Sul'Arno and has ample parking, the ticket station is usually not open and we found that the kiosk did not always work, there were times that we had to get on the train without a ticket but did not encounter problems with the conductor.
Tips or Restaurants:
The food at the Nuovo Rancho which is about 2 miles from the property is very good and because of it's proximity to the villa, it is a nice place to go after a day 'touring' or visiting wineries.
Directions:
Directions were accurate. FYI - Credit cards can be used at all toll booths.

Nancy, June

Enjoyed Most:
It was more beautiful than I had expected! Beautifully painted walls. More views than I expected. Very big rooms. Good swimming pool. Nice welcome. When we booked the villa, it said that "tidying up the rooms and final cleaning included". But the fact is they tidied up the whole house every day, not just the rooms! That was also a nice surprise.
Enjoyed Least:
Small refrigerators, information about where to shop was llacking, a lot of wasps at the swimming pool.
Surrounding Area:
Beautiful landscape. and short distances to Florence, San Gimignano and other beautiful places
Nearby Events or Locales:
Le Corti was mabye 20- 30 minutes walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
It was nice to have a cook to come and do the dinner. The staff is very nice and friendly, they made the tables and cleaned after dinner. So it was a full service with desert and coffee and everything. I did not know that when I ordered the food so that was a nice surprise. Future guests that do not speak any Italian should try to get more information beforehand, about the area, the service etc.
Directions:
I had a navigation system so I wouldn't know.
Check In Out:
I was very nice to have red wine, bread, ham and fruits waiting for us when we got there

Sigyn, June

Overall:
We were a large group, approximately 17 people, and this villa definitely met our needs. Most of the bedrooms had en-suite baths. The plumbing was excellent as was the frequency of water. It was wonderful getting together outside on the patio outside of the kitchen area after dinner to drink wine and converse about our day. The night, as well as the day view, was spectacular. The caretakers were wonderful, and had included our family to join them at a local festa which was wonderful. We got to get a flavor of the local fare which included food vendors, and a wine tasting, not to mention live entertainment!! The grounds and the pool were well kept, and cared for daily. The entire family enjoyed our stay at the villa and I would highly recommend this villa to anyone.
Enjoyed Most:
The view was spectacular!! The caretakers at the villa were extremely helpful. They really overextended themselves.
Enjoyed Least:
Could not find anything negative about the property.
Surrounding Area:
The villa was centrally located and very close to the train station to Florence. Since we were a large group, we were able to spend most of the day visiting other towns and coming back to the villa to compare experiences of our day. There was a local bar/restaurant that was within walking distance if you cared to take the walk which was wonderful. The owner and his wife were extremely friendly and recommended a local winery close by.
Nearby Events or Locales:
You definitely needed a car to get to the nearest small town. At the end of the road to the right was S Donato in Collina, and to the left brought you to Rignano where the train station was.
Tips or Restaurants:
The closest restaurant to the villa was Nuovo Ranch and it was fabulous!! The food served was anywhere from Pizza to Wild Boar. Anything that we had eaten there was phenomenal!! Even closer to the villa was Bar Ema which was a small eatery, very local, which served pannini, pizza and hamburgers. The espresso and cappucino were great, and the owner, Lucca, was very friendly.
Directions:
The directions were very clear. The only problem that we had was which direction on A1 to follow after leaving the Florence airport.
Check In Out:
Unfortunately, we were severely delayed in Paris, and did not arrive in Florence until 7pm. I was able to call a representative to let them know that we were delayed. There wasn't any problem since we didn't arrive at the villa until 8:30pm due to issues at the airport with lost luggage. The caretaker was very gracious and waited for us to arrive. On the kitchen table were sandwiches and a bottle of their local wine. It was a wonderful greeting after the long and arduous flight that we had just gone through.
