Customer Reviews

Overall:
Very comfortable. It had everything we expected and more.
Enjoyed Most:
The view, peace and quiet, the security gate to the property.
Enjoyed Least:
The small showers.
Surrounding Area:
The view of grapevines and olive groves.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Subbiano, although it was not within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Although the weather was to cool in late October to use the fabulous pool, hot tub and outside dinning area, we experienced fabulous weather and were able to build a wonderful indoor fire each evening while we sat and talked about the day's activities and plan our next day's excursions. The nearest restaurant find was Briganti's in Subbiano where we experienced eating wild boar and fabulous pasta dishes.
Directions:
We used a GPS and had no problem getting to the property, but got a little confused as to which house it was.
Check In Out:
Valentina met us at the property upon our arrival and was extremely helpful in getting us aclclimated. The check out process was just as easy and Valentina took the time to sit and chat with us about our stay, and was delightful to work with.

Marie, October

Overall:
Everything surpassed our expectations. Absolutely beautiful!
Enjoyed Most:
It was all beautifully kept, great view, relaxing - everything we were looking for.
Enjoyed Least:
Not a thing.
Surrounding Area:
Train station and town was easy to get to. We made several trips into town with our guests. We enjoyed the outdoor market and walking in the small town 2 miles away. We became regulars at the supermarket. It was a pleasure to shop in, everything was fresh and the people were very friendly.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Nearest small town was Subbiano. It was 2 - 3 miles away. Don't recommend walking.
Tips or Restaurants:
The villa was fully stocked and we didn't need anything but the food we wanted. We were there for 5 weeks. Most of the time we would take day trips and eat out during the afternoon. We barbecued and even made pizza in the pizza oven. So much fun!!
Directions:
We used Google Maps on our phone.
Check In Out:
Check in/check out was simple and pleasant. The only problem was that we didn't want to check out!

Michael, June

The villa was better than expected!
Enjoyed Most:
The outdoor sitting areas and the fantastic scenery.
Surrounding Area:
Great scenery and privacy.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Close to Subbiano (5 minutes by car) for groceries.

A GPS is recommended to find the property and also for day trips around the nearby countryside.

Jim, September

Overall:
It was delightful. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
Enjoyed Most:
The view and the serenity of the place.
Surrounding Area:
It was very accessible to Siena, Cortona, and Florence.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Subbiano. Not within walking distance, but not far.
Tips or Restaurants:
The villa was very well stocked. The only thing we needed was a nut cracker and we bought one and left it there.
Directions:
We did not use a GPS as the directions were fine.

Corinne, October

Loved it very much.

Comfort and view.

Driving in when it was dark.
Surrounding Area:
A lot of small, absolutely cute towns.
Nearby Events or Locales:
No walking; we were driving.
Tips or Restaurants:
Everything was arranged perfectly, no need to bring anything. We were cooking at home and eating out.
Directions:
Yes, we used GPS and it was great. For future travelers without GPS, maybe a little map would be helpful.
Check In Out:
Very pleasant.

Irina, June

Overall:
We had a wonderful time!
Enjoyed Most:
The pool was lovely and the wines available to purchase were great and well-priced.
Surrounding Area:
We saw all the wonderful little walled towns. The countryside is beautiful with all the vines and olive trees.
Nearby Events or Locales:
No, you could not walk to a town; it was about a 10 minute drive.
Tips or Restaurants:
In Arezzo go to La Vigna and Vesuvio. Bring a garlic press.
Directions:
The directions were good
Check In Out:
We never saw anyone at check out; we just left the money on the table.

Donna, April

Overall:
The villa far exceeded our expectations! It was even more beautiful than the pictures showed! And it was perfectly suited to our large multi-family group. There were many thoughtful touches that added to the overall feeling of luxury as well, such as the bathrobes in each room and extra pool towels, the fully stocked wine cupboard, the friendly cleaning staff, and even the yard staff checking when we might be out for the day so as not to disturb us with their noise. Our three weeks went by much too quickly and we never wanted to leave! Sometimes we almost resented all the other things we came to see that took us away from our wonderful villa - lol.. And we all fell completely in love with "Ned" the beautiful orange tabby cat who seems to adopt the visiting families - he was such a well behaved 'gato' - a real charmer...
Enjoyed Most:
We especially appreciated that the furniture was comfortable and child-friendly, and the many different seating areas assured that there was somewhere for everyone to be. There were places for us to all sit together and visit, places for the children to play, and there were also quiet areas for those who wanted a smaller setting to read or just enjoy the magnificent views. The dining tables were spacious enough for all 10 comfortably and we loved the al fresco dining options and used the outdoor pizza oven lots!! But our very favorite had to be the pool and hot tub area - it was so beautiful with lots of places to sit! We spent a lot of time there – (ice cold local brut, olive oil and bread and cheese in the afternoon watching the children playing quickly became a habit!) so the extra touches such as comfortable seating, tables and the small fridge poolside were much appreciated. We used the outdoor shower often and in the cool evenings we loved the lights around the pool as well as the heat lamp and lights over the hot tub. It's too bad the fountain wasn't working as that would have been the finishing touch! Rita and Roberto were so lovely - they shared some of their handmade olive oil with us as well as showing us some of the magnificent local mushrooms. They were very helpful and kind - they told us about some interesting local festivals and let us watch (and even help a little) with the grape harvest on the property - it was fascinating to see!
Enjoyed Least:
We did have a bit of trouble getting the heating of the pool organized to our liking due to some communication issues, but once it was worked out we were extremely happy and we all used it lots. Our only real complaint was the pillows - it seemed odd that with so much thought given to every other aspect of comfort, that there was only two pillows per bed and they were very flat and hard compared to what we are used to in Canada. We asked for, and received, extra pillows but they were so flat as to not make much difference.
Surrounding Area:
The villa is situated on a quiet mountainside with magnificent views into the valley towards Subbiano. We were surrounded on all sides by beautiful gardens, grape vines and olive groves. It was private and just perfect! And even though wild boar hunting season had just opened, it really was peaceful and restful. We were close enough to drive into any number of little towns easily, but did most of our major shopping in Arezzo.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Subbiano was not far but not walking distance. You would most definitely need a vehicle there.
Tips or Restaurants:
Our very best restaurant was at "home"! We loved being at the villa so much and the kitchen was so well equipped that our best and most favorite meals were all right at our doorstep! We especially enjoyed the outdoor oven and the kids particularly loved making their own pizzas to be cooked in the pizza oven. There was nothing finer than our families all together dining in the lovely al fresco dining room overlooking the valley in the evening and toasting the day with some delicious local vino... We brought our own bug spray, which we used lots of as we enjoyed being outdoors so much, but it wasn't a huge issue anyway.

Kim , October

Overall:
I was a little afraid to rent a villa over the Internet. You know, maybe the photos were only highlighting the positive while hiding the negative aspects. But to our delight the place was even better than the photos depicted. It was magnificient! Beautiful! Perfect! And had unexpected ammentities such as a heated swimming pool, hot tub, wood burning fireplace, maid service every other day, and a fully stocked wine cabinet and wine refrigerator made from grapes grown on site.
Enjoyed Most:
The view, the location, and the pool were great. Also, there were 8 of us and we had plenty of room in the villa. We never felt crowded. Also, the neighbors and the owners were super friendly and visited us several times which made it really fun.
Enjoyed Least:
The cost of heat. It was cold on some evenings and we turned on the heat for a few hours to take off the chill, maybe a total of 9 hours for the 2 weeks we were there and it cost us an extra 240 Euros. But the owners did warn us of this beforehand. Plus they are installing a more efficient heating system which should relieve this somewhat.
Surrounding Area:
Visiting the small local towns. We were perfectly situated to take day excursions to many interesting places. Only 13 km from Arezzo which is a nice size town with good shopping, restaurants and siteseeing. Also within 1 hour drive from some fabulous towns such as Florence, Assisi, Siena, Cortona just to name a few. And only 1/2 hour from the Chianti region! You definitely need a car here.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Subbiano. It was only 3 km but the road was too busy, and no burm so we could not safely walk into town. A nice town with a few good restaurants. Also, market day every Monday morning in Subbiano was really fun and we got some good bargains.
Directions:
We had a GPS but it was not set correctly and I didn't check it before leaving the car rental area. It was set to the most direct route instead of fastest route. So it took us all through Florence and 4 hours to reach the villa instead of 1 1/2 hours if we had taken the autostrada. But once we figured this out, the GPS was very useful and for the rest of the trip driving was a breeze.
Check In Out:
Owners were punctual and thorough.

Kathy, May

Overall:
Fantastic. Mario was very responsive to our needs. Villa is charming and we enjoyed a true Tuscan vacation.
Enjoyed Most:
Everything. The villa had all we were looking for in a villa in Tuscany. The view!
Surrounding Area:
The view and the quiet and peaceful area, yet close to shopping.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Subbiano was a short drive away.
Directions:
We had a GPS.

Donna - tvl agt, October

Overall:
We had a better experience than we imagined, and we had high expectations before getting there.
Enjoyed Most:
We liked best the views of the countryside. We liked the fact that we were the only tourists in the local towns. We really wanted to feel like the locals, and this property allowed us to do just that! Being surrounded by the olive trees ad grapevines was truly a unique experience. We had so much room at the property to spread out!
Enjoyed Least:
There is not much to complain about! The only thing I would have to say is that the internet connection was a little spotty. But we had read that in previous reviews and because of the remoteness of the area, it was expected. Mario came right over to fix the internet when needed. It would not be a problem at all if we did not need to communicate with our young children back home.
Surrounding Area:
We were in the countryside, yet nearby towns were very accessible. Like stated before, the towns were not touristy, we really got a feel for living like a local.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Subbiano was close. It would be a far walk, but could be done. We had rented a car, and that's what I would recommend. We were central enough in Tuscany to go on several day trips to Florence, Arezzo, Siena, Fiesole, Poppi, Anghiari, etc.
Tips or Restaurants:
This villa had all of the accommodations you need to be comfortable! Toiletries, hairdryers, all kitchen utensils, even an armoire full of wine made from the vineyards on the property. We enjoyed all restaurants we went to except one. The closest restaurant attached to a hotel, La Gravenna, we would not recommend.
Directions:
GPS was very helpful for the entire trip, especially day trips, although the written directions on the voucher took us right to the property as well.
Check In Out:
Very easy.

Jane, October

Overall:
Excellent.
Enjoyed Most:
The panoramic views from many areas of the property. The facility to sit outside in the sun or the shade.
Enjoyed Least:
The wireless Internet proved to be a problem, although the property manager, Mario, did his absolute best to get it working on a consistent basis.
Surrounding Area:
Experiencing typical Tuscan countryside with beautiful hill top towns. Arezzo was a pleasant surprise.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest town was Subbiano and is not within walking distance.

Margaret, July

Overall:
The villa more than lived up to our expectations based on the reviews and photos on Rentvillas. Everything was in good shape, the garden looked spectacular, and we took full advantage of all the bedrooms, the pool cabana, the dining loggia, the two kitchens, and even the fireplace one wet night at the end of May. We all felt very welcome, and made the villa our home for the week.
Enjoyed Most:
Grounds, views, lots of new bathrooms, welcoming owners and cleaning staff, great location, thick Frette bathrobes in every room, large pool. The best thing was being able to pick a lemon for the evening Campari and soda right off the tree outside.
Enjoyed Least:
No complaints, really.
Surrounding Area:
Easy to get everywhere. We made day trips to Florence, Arezzo, Cortona, Pienza, Montepulciano, the outlet mall. Beautiful hill country with terraced olive groves and vineyards.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Hard to walk to town, but a quick drive to the Super SMA for groceries, supplies, and wine.
Tips or Restaurants:
Very good restaurant nearby in Torre Santa Flora. The nettle ravioli were especially fine.

Charles, May

Enjoyed Most:
Size and external area.
Enjoyed Least:
The noise of the sprinkler system which came on many times in the night, and the dogs barking in two farms, one in front and one behind the villa.

Tim, June

Overall:
This is a perfect property for a large family traveling together.
Enjoyed Most:
The beauty and the views were spectacular. Also, the small village atmosphere was exactly what we wanted.
Enjoyed Least:
It could use some directions for the kitchen appliances. They are second nature to Europeans, but not for folks from the States.
Surrounding Area:
Small village atmosphere and the warm friendly people made it authentic Italy. We were not looking for a tourist experience, so this was perfect. We were centrally located and that made for easy day trips.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Subbiano was within walking distance but off a main road that did not lend itself to walking...too much traffic, speed and narrow road.
Tips or Restaurants:
La Gravenna at the bottom of the hill was spectacular.
Check In Out:
No. Rita was very helpful.

Judith, May

Enjoyed Most:
Villa Andreina was not only excellent in itself, but also convenient by car to places of interest, such as Poppi, Cortona, Siena. The owner and his family were most hospitable and helpful in recommending things to see and do. And Roberto was a wonderful chef!
Enjoyed Least:
The occasional and unannounced power outages.
Surrounding Area:
The views, the food, and the people.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Arezzo and Bibbiena were the closest towns, but neither in walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
L'Antica Cantina in the hilltop castle town of Poppi. Excellent local fare in a romantic setting.

Joe, October

Enjoyed Most:
Stunning views and a wonderful outside dining nook where we ate dinner every night.
Enjoyed Least:
Some of us got bug bites, though I don't know whether they were specifically at the villa or just in the countryside in general. We used the wood-fired oven, but some of the cooking tools were missing or unavailable.
Surrounding Area:
Very peaceful, with nice walks nearby. Plus the Arezzo train station was close enough - about 30 minutes away - that we could easily take day trips to Florence and other towns.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Subbiano. It's close enough to walk to but we didn't ever walk there was too much traffic. There were, instead, nice walks in the nearby hills.
Tips or Restaurants:
1. If you like to cook, use the wood-fired oven! 2. Bring bug repellent. 3. The Subbiano grocery store - right on the highway - is great.
