Customer Reviews

Overall:
Beautiful property with great grounds in great location with an easy access to Minori
Enjoyed Most:
The villa itself is really magnificent, but could use some TLC.
Enjoyed Least:
It's important to note that the WiFi only works in the living room. As indicated in the description, there is no satellite TV. The portable air conditioner provided only works as a fan. We found the kitchen to be inadequately equipped for cooking.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Minori - yes, lovely quiet village. One of the great things about the vacation. Easily walkable.
Directions:
We took a car service.
Check In Out:
Be prepared to pay up-front costs in cash on arrival.

Adrienne, June

Overall:
The old villa has beautiful gardens. The gardener Gigi was delightful and helpful. We did a lot of sign language and that worked very well. Being at the edge of the sea was amazing, also. The quietness most of the time was refreshing but know that the villa is the middle floor; there is one villa below and one villa above Casa Minori. It's all the same building. The property manager (one of them), Francesca was a young, super friendly girl who could not do enough for us.
Enjoyed Most:
Quietness most of the time. Scenery. Old decor and beauty. Beautiful gardens to stroll in if you love plants and trees like we do. At least a 50 year old fig tree growing out of a rock side terrace happy as a lark bearing dozens of unripe figs.
Enjoyed Least:
Amenities were sparse. One set of towels provided for the week. The kitchen was not stocked with any basics, such as paper towels or dish soap.
Surrounding Area:
Short walk to Minori. Beautiful, friendly people. Though Italians in that area are supposedly use to it, walking on the road is one dangerous experience moment by moment. Do NOT plan on renting a car.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Minori, Maori, Amalfi. Yes, Amalfi is the furthest. Ravello is above Minori about 3000 steps, I am not kidding. Some folks we met tried it but only one way. It is grueling if you are not use to REALLY walking straight up amd straight down. We walked a lot up and down in Minori just to get there everyday I imagine it will take about 30 days for my knees to get back to normal.
Tips or Restaurants:
There was another restaurant to the right facing the church--was a mother and son who have a wonderful restaurant. Mommy does all the cooking it was delicious.
Directions:
We did not rent a car.
Check In Out:
Seamless.

Barry, June

Overall:
It was a holiday to be remembered for a long time to come. An amazing view and every day was an adventure.
Enjoyed Most:
The view over the ocean and the spaciousness of the villa. It was lovely to have individual doors onto the balcony from every bedroom to take advantage of that view. Also walking distance to beaches and restaurants.
Enjoyed Least:
The kitchen doesn't have a lot of counter space.
Surrounding Area:
We were lucky to have lovely weather so walked the many stairs to Ravello and took a well earned rest with lunch overlooking the coast. Walked to Amalfi and Minori single file along the narrow roads.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Minori only about 10 mins easy walking.
Tips or Restaurants:
Probably a good idea to bring beach towels. We had a great night at Giardiniello Restaurant in Minori.
Directions:
We had a GPS which helped. A good landmark is to look out for the tall pine trees.
Check In Out:
We met Francesca who was very nice and made check in and check out easy. Had a problem locating the given key holder--no answer. So, we rang Sonia and she sorted us out.

Kathy, May

Overall:
Excellent. Can relax at the villa or easily to get to other towns.
Enjoyed Most:
The views. The peace and quiet. The patio and balcony are heaven on earth and we were there before Spring had really sprung. Bus stop close by even though we enjoyed the walk to town. We enjoyed a good weather storm while there, but we like that sort of thing.
Enjoyed Least:
Shower/tub are small by U.S. standards. All else that we didn't enjoy is typical of the Amalfi Coast. Lots of stairs. We did not pack wisely, so the trip back up to the road was rough. Intermittent internet access. The kitchen was not stocked with basic supplies, so plan on purchasing salt/pepper/olive oil etc.
Surrounding Area:
That's a fairly lenghtly list! Boat trip to Capri. Maiori, Minori, the town of Amalfi, and Ravello are close. A spa nearby.
Nearby Events or Locales:
For us yes, but maybe not for everyone. The roads are narrow, so when a bus and car pass each other, you need to get out of the way.
Tips or Restaurants:
Every restaurant we went to was good. We did all our laundry in one day forgetting there are no dryers. We had wet clothes for few days.
Directions:
Not being from the area we likely would have been lost, but we hired a car. The driver had no problem locating the property.
Check In Out:
Garbage compliance is pretty crazy, but provided lots of entertainment for us. A lamp broke during our stay and some of our security deposit was retained to replace it.

Sara, April

Overall:
We had a wonderful time staying here. You do have to be prepared for the stairs and the walking along the highway to town but all in all it was wonderful!
Enjoyed Most:
I loved all the plants and statues and it was very well maintained.
Enjoyed Least:
The small shower in bathroom, but that is just me - I am spoiled in the US with a big shower.
Surrounding Area:
Exploring different areas of the coast and the boat ride to Capri was amazing.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Minori and yes we walked 10 minutes every day.
Tips or Restaurants:
Good walking shoes, rain jackets and yes we loved the restaurant in Minori called Cafe Europa! So warm and friendly to us.
Directions:
We google mapped it before we went to Italy so we had a general idea of where to go, but still wasn't totally sure. We had a wonderful driver who took us straight there - so that really helped our group of 6.
Check In Out:
Our check in was confusing due to the language barrier. All amounts are due in cash. Trash/recycling schedule was a little confusing, too!

Katie, April

Overall:
One of the best vacations we have taken.
Enjoyed Most:
The view and overall accommodations.
Enjoyed Least:
The steps - over 140 to the ocean. Not recommended for elderly or anyone out of shape.
Surrounding Area:
The people and the food were amazing. Everyone is so helpful and courteous.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Minori was only a short walk - less than a mile.
Tips or Restaurants:
Any restaurant in the area is better than the best in this country. The food was amazing - even in little alley ways where you wouldn't even think to look! Explore!!!
Directions:
Just meet with the person opening the property on the Main Street in Minori and have him or her drive in front of you because it is difficult to find. Yes we used GPS constantly.
Check In Out:
Just finding the place. Check out was a breeze!

Anthony, May

Overall:
Absolutely fantastic.
Enjoyed Most:
The location, amenities and the spectacular views.
Enjoyed Least:
The steps (LOL).
Surrounding Area:
The scenery, the people.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Minori and yes, it's within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Luigi, the caretaker, was so helpful. Antonio at a local restaurant "Midnight Sun" was also extremely helpful.. And Claudia at Coastal Diva Tours was great.
Directions:
My GPS lost signal on the way from Naples.. Was able to find my way to the area without a problem.. However the villa itself is not posted clearly
Check In Out:
None

Michael, May

Overall:
What a wonderful property. It was everything we expected and more.
Enjoyed Most:
Best things were the views, the privacy, and the palatial spaciousness of the halls and bedrooms. Location was perfect with just 10 min walk to Minori. And one of our favorite, unexpected benefits was the Costa Diva Tour company and Claudia Ruocco. She became our personal tour planner, reference and even, translator for the entire trip.
Enjoyed Least:
No screens to keep out the mosquitos, small kitchen with limited coffee and cooking set-up and weird clothes laundry. These were certainly all European style and quite common. We got used to it because, did I mention the views!?
Surrounding Area:
Having never been to the Amalfi Coast, we had considered staying in Sorrento for more choice of accommodations and accessibility to the sights and services available. We are so glad we chose Minori. We were more central than we knew and loved the southern peninsula.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Minori was just 10 mins walking and we ate there several times. We shopped for groceries, found a farmers market, took a boat ride and even, got the best shave. Tony can make your face as smooth as silk.
Tips or Restaurants:
Remember this is Europe. If you are American, just let yourself go and enjoy the culture. Everything closes from 100 to 400 or 500pm. Many folks speak broken English and directions are always given like you already know how to get there.
Directions:
Use kilometer markers and post a photo of the front gates. It took our driver some time to figure how to park and help us meet our keyholder.
Check In Out:
Once again, I can't say enough about Claudia Ruocco and Cost Diva Tour. We would have been confused on many fronts without them!!

Bernice, October

Overall:
Our experience was absolutely fantastic!! The villa was so beautiful and the view was beyond belief.
Enjoyed Most:
I would say the view, and being able to walk down several steps to the water where we could dive in. Also, the villa is very peaceful and beautiful.
Enjoyed Least:
The road to town is very dangerous and narrow. It is also steep and difficult to walk back to the villa because it's all up hill.
Surrounding Area:
Taking the ferries to the various towns including Capri. Also, the towns aren't far away and you can get to all of them by boat.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Maiori is very nice but not within walking distance. Amalfi is 2 miles by boat and has all the shopping you need and restaurants.
Tips or Restaurants:
Make sure you're in great physical condition because there are a lot of steps at the villa and a lot of driving. We eventually hired a driver through the property manager. The drivers name is Pasquale. Pasquale picked us up from the villa every day to take us to the ferry and picked us up at the end of the day to bring us back to the villa.
Check In Out:
Claudia, the property manager at the villa, was exceptional!

Kathleen, August

Overall:
We had a wonderful time. The owner was at first reluctant to let us rent the villa in January, but the experience was magical. Temperatures were in the low 50's F (warm for us, coming from Alaska) and the sea is unpredictable in winter so we did not swim, but the setting was tranquil and the views were marvelous.
Enjoyed Most:
The setting was beautiful and we fell in love with the town of Minori.
Enjoyed Least:
The electrical problems in the kitchen were frustrating at times. Every time we turned on the oven the breakers would blow. Our check-in person forgot to tell us all the steps to reset the breakers and we spent the night without electricity.
Surrounding Area:
All the lemon trees, the greenery, the sea, the town of Minori!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Minori was only about a 10-minute (downhill) walk from the villa. We often took the bus back up the hill.
Tips or Restaurants:
We loved the cafes in Minori. We lived like Italians and grocery-shopped almost every day, the shopkeepers were so helpful and patient with our limited knowledge of Italian.
Directions:
We used a private transfer (a taxi or car service) booked through RentVillas which picked us up at the Salerno train station. When we left we booked through Costa Diva Tour in Minori.
Check In Out:
Make sure you learn all steps for resetting the breakers.

Kathleen, January

Overall:
Great.
Enjoyed Most:
The view and the swimming.
Enjoyed Least:
The parking access.
Surrounding Area:
The walks along the shoreline.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Minori, which is 1.5 KM away.
Tips or Restaurants:
The castle restaurant in Majori was incredible. Also the semi-private boat tours in the caves were great.

Joe, June

Overall:
This property is stunningly beautiful.
Enjoyed Most:
The view and the property itself were AMAZING.
Enjoyed Least:
The property manager was rude, and there was a lack of explanation as to how to sort the trash. During check out we felt like children under scrutiny for possibly having done something wrong.
Surrounding Area:
Walking is a little scary, but being able to walk and commute to so many different small towns was wonderful.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Atrani, Minori, and Amalfi were all walking distance, but not for the feint of heart as the roads are dangerous and tight.
Tips or Restaurants:
Go to Atrani and eat in the pizzeria built into the cliff off of the beach. FANTASTIC!!! Prior to departure, as RentVillas about walking paths and sorting trash.

Adrian, April

Overall:
From the moment we arrived at Casa Minori, we felt like we had walked into heaven! It is well kept up and has so much beauty in the house as well as the grounds!
Enjoyed Most:
The view was just beautiful and the flowers and trees make it perfect.
Enjoyed Least:
The steps going down to the villa, but they were broken up so it was fine!
Surrounding Area:
The little town of Minori was great! Just the right size without a lot of tourists. We found several favorite restaurants and had a wonderful time exploring it and the surrounding towns.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Minori was just a 10 minute walk from the villa.
Tips or Restaurants:
Just bring good walking shoes and remember you are on Italy time- which means you might have to wait for a bus, but it just gives you more time to enjoy the views!
Directions:
We had a very helpful driver who picked us up at the Naples train station. He called the owner and got directions from him.

Jill, October

Overall:
The experience was fantastic. The home is beautiful and in a quiet area close to town.
Enjoyed Most:
Obviously the view was the main draw, but the layout of the villa suited our group. Access to the water was a plus as the swimming was a bonus due to the warm weather in October. The outdoor shower, while never mentioned, was a huge hit with all of us and the only shower we all used.
Surrounding Area:
The quiet, quaint, and authentic part of Amalfi, no tourists. Easy access to other sites and towns.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Minori, yes it is within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
If the renter takes the time to read and ask questions there should be no surprises or disappointments and a good time will be had by all.

Karan , October

Overall:
Wonderful.
Enjoyed Most:
The view.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing at all.
Surrounding Area:
Yes, it also was great.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Minori is walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
There was one very nice restaurant for fine food, and one place that hade great wine.
Directions:
We used a driver that knew the area

Peggy, September

Overall:
Fantastic.
Enjoyed Most:
Location, view, living area, aesthetics. The clothes washer was also key. The owner supplied a bus schedule, which was great, since they are hard to find.
Enjoyed Least:
The dishwasher is on its last legs, the stove is serviceable but a bit cranky. I'm told that undersized electrical services are typical for Italy, but we had three nights where we had to reset the main circuit breaker multiple times. However, my complaints are really quite minor, and we got good help when we asked. Editor's Note: The owner confirmed that an electrician checked the problem and fixed it immediately. In general, in order to keep from overloading the power supply, you should not have too many appliances running at the same time.
Surrounding Area:
The hiking is fantastic. That is what we went for, mostly, and it was unbelievable.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Minori was an easy walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
Don't bring a car. Study the garbage schedule carefully, and ask questions before the keyholders leave. This can be confusing. The house is quite well-equipped, and you can get most everything you need in Minori.
Directions:
We had a driver take us from the Naples train station to the house, so I can't comment on directions. Having now traveled around the area by train and by bus, I can say that taking a train to Salerno and a bus from Salerno to Minori is not a bad option if you want to save some money. Transfers from Naples are expensive, but more convenient because Naples is a quick ride from Rome on the Eurostar train.
Check In Out:
The keyholders (I think they are the owners) were very kind. Their English was OK in person, but we were warned that it is not good over the phone, and were provided with an alternate phone number to call if we had problems.

Peter, April

Overall:
We had a great time. The Amalfi Coast is amazing! So much to see and do. Yet the villa was quiet and relaxing.
Enjoyed Most:
The view has to be 1. We spent every evening on the porch watching sunsets and admiring the scenery. The rooms, except for the kitchen, were spacious. The furniture was comfortable.
Enjoyed Least:
Upon arrival, the floors were swept but not clean; there were dead bugs in the tub in one bathroom and the shower needed a good cleaing. Also, one guest cut himself on the edge of the shower. The sea is 12 meters deep where the villa sea access is located. Only for strong swimmers. We were upset that we had to pay 280 euros to park our car down the road from the villa in a restaurant parking lot with no overnight security - when the 3 or 4 spaces behind the gate at the villa remained empty for the entire 2 weeks with only one space occupied on the weekends. We couldn't understand why the owner could not have made arrangements for us to rent one of the spaces. Editor's Note: The owner has confirmed that the maid will be more dilligent in the future with the cleaning of the apartment. She also confirmed that the parking spaces above do not belong to her and cannot be used. If clients insist upon bringing a car, the restaurant lot is the only option. She strongly recommends that clients do not bring a car, as it is easy to get around with drivers and public transportation. Rentvillas agrees with this.
Surrounding Area:
A bus stop was just a short walk from the villa. This made it so easy to travel to all the spectacular sights on the Amalfi coast and beyond. Between the buses and the train we never had to use our car--a definite plus considering the curvy road along the coast.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Minori is the closest town. Just a 10 minute downhill walk. It is a small town that does have a beach but is not full of tourists like Amalfi and Maiori, the next closest towns. It has a wonderful park along the beach. It is the only place along the coast with Roman villa ruins. The people are very friendly. We were able to get everything we needed for cooking at the local market shops.
Tips or Restaurants:
You don't really need a car. Take the train from Naples or Rome to Salerno, then catch a SITA bus toward Amalfi and get off at the stop by the Best Western. A 5 minute walk back toward town will get you to the villa which is at number 8 on the sea side. Bring bug spray and citronella candles as the mosquitoes and no-seeums are plentiful in the evening! Our favorite restaurant in Minori was Giardiniello, Corso Vitorio Emanuelle 17. A small gelato shop is on the the same street, a little closer to the the main road, was also very good. Just up beyond the Best Western is the restaurant, Il Boschetto, which is owned by Stefano. He serves dishes made with local fish and wine from his father's vineyard.
Check In Out:
The owner took me into town to show me the market and introduced me the the owner, good restaurants, and the location of the tourist information office.
