Customer Reviews

Overall:
Enjoyed my stay at the villa. Management ia very friendly and helpful.
Surrounding Area:
Beautiful scenery.
Nearby Events or Locales:
San Gimignano is the nearest town, but is not within driving distance.
Directions:
The GPS didn't pick up the exact location of the property.

Overall:
We could not have been more satisfied with our stay at Il Cortile del Borgo 14!
Enjoyed Most:
Del Borgo 14 is extremely comfortable, quiet and private. The private patio has a storybook view over the Tuscan hills. With one bedroom and bath upstairs and one bedroom and bath downstairs the villa affords very comfortable accommodations.
Enjoyed Least:
The property was wonderful, but the rough road and the driveway leading to the property were a challenge for vehicle and driver.
Surrounding Area:
Beautiful Tuscan views and the closeness to San Gimignano as well as several other Tuscan hill towns.
Nearby Events or Locales:
San Gimignano was nearest, but not within practical walking distance. It would be a dusty walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
Kitchen supplies are more than sufficient. Any needed paper products or food you want can easily be obtained at the PAM in Poggibonsi. In addition to the recommendations in the travel guides, we found two other outstanding restaurants, Peruca and Le Vecchie Murre in San Gimignano.
Directions:
We did not use a GPS and had no trouble locating the property.
Check In Out:
Property owners greeted us in the parking lot to transport our luggage. Check-in and check-out were quick and easy.

Overall:
The owners-hosts were wonderful and VERY helpful with everything!!!!!!
Enjoyed Most:
I think my favorite part of our villa was our beautiful veranda where the view and the setting were so relaxing.
Enjoyed Least:
If I had to say something, it would be the size of the kitchen, only because we enjoy doing our own cooking.
Surrounding Area:
San Gimignano was beautiful and Siena and Florence were just a short drive away.
Nearby Events or Locales:
San Gimignano was the closest town and you could definitely walk it with comfortable shoes.
Tips or Restaurants:
Remember to do your grocery shopping before you check in on Saturday as Pam does close at 8:00pm and is also closed Sunday. I had compiled a list of ingredients from other comments on your website which made it nice and simple so we could enjoy our first meal in Tuscany.
Check In Out:
The owners-hosts couldn't have been more welcoming.

Overall:
The property was better than I had ever anticipated. It is definitely a property for adults and not a place for families, especially with small children. It's quiet and peaceful and the "house rules" emphasize allowing all guests to enjoy their peace and privacy. Perfect in my book, but may not be for everyone.
Enjoyed Most:
The property is beautiful. The renovation of this old farm was handled by one of the co-owners who is an architect and interior designer. The decor is sophisticated and charming at the same time and the entire property is extremely well maintained with lavender, rosemary and sage lining the pathways. Number 14 has a covered patio with extensive views over a vineyard to the Tuscan hills beyond. The owners are on the property everyday and are warm and welcoming, happy to give recommendations and to hear about your discoveries. The dinners offered on-site three nights a week, were delicious and a great bargain. We'd go back in a minute!
Enjoyed Least:
The downstairs living room in 14 has only a small couch, but it would be easy to bring in armchairs from the patio if the weather were bad. We did not find anything to like least and certainly nothing to complain about.
Surrounding Area:
The property is very well located, not too far from the main road between Florence and Sienna, making exploring Tuscan hill towns a breeze. We were surrounded by vineyards and olive trees and silence.
Nearby Events or Locales:
San Gimignano is the nearest town and one could walk there but I don't think it would be worth it. I think it would be more fun to stroll through the vineyards and hills surrounding the property than walk on the local road which is dirt and can be dusty when vehicles pass.
Tips or Restaurants:
The kitchen was very well supplied and we didn't need to use most of the items we brought: sharp knife, cutting board, etc. I would recommend taking a wine bottle pump and a couple of stoppers. I also wish I'd had some kind of insulated mug or carafe so I could make more coffee at one time. The PAM grocery store in Poggibonsi is open on Sunday while the Coop is closed.

Overall:
Great find.
Enjoyed Most:
The staff and meals.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing.
Surrounding Area:
Accessibility to many small villages.
Tips or Restaurants:

Overall:
The upstairs bedroom is reached by a small circular staircase. This was not a problem for us but could be for some.
Enjoyed Most:
We loved the patio in our unit. It was great at the end of the day to sit and enjoy some wine and the spectacular view. The owners were all great and very helpful. We had dinner on the property all three nights they were available and they were wonderful. The property was even more beautiful than pictured and very clean.
Enjoyed Least:
Our group consisted of 4 women, ages 63, 65, 71 and 72. There were quite a few steps leading to our unit the furthest on the property and no handrails. For a younger group this probably wouldn't be a problem.
Surrounding Area:
Everything. The setting was beautiful. The villa is close to many great towns. We visited Volterra, Siena, Cortona. Montalcino, Monterriggioni and Colle de Val D'Elsa.
Tips or Restaurants:
As others have mentioned the PAM supermarket is very convenient. The lighting is not very bright so bring a book light if you want to read after dark. The patio is lighted but it is very nice to have candles. After our week in Tuscany we drove to Florence and dropped off our car there. It was very difficult to reach the car rental office with all of the one way streets, etc. This was really the only real problem we had driving.
Directions:
We found it without any problem but the distance on the gravel road seemed a little further than stated. Once you have driven to the property a time or two it doesn't seem like a big deal but the first time is a little disconcerting.
Check In Out:
The owners made it very easy.

Overall:
Just a strong recommendation!
Enjoyed Most:
It's location, view, and the loving care of the family who own and run it.
Enjoyed Least:
Our "living room" was negligible. But it really did not matter, as the terrace was wonderful and the weather was fine.
Surrounding Area:
Walkable to San Gimignano, and drivable to many other appealing locations. We loved going south of Siena especially, both in the direction of the Crete and to Massa Marittima.
Tips or Restaurants:
I heartily endorse your list of things to bring -- like baggies, salt and pepper, sponge, etc. Il Pino in San Gimignano is excellent
