Customer Reviews

Overall:
Excellent. We LOVED our Tuscan experience at this villa. Both Marcello, the owner and Monica in reception were a pleasure to deal with. They made helpful suggestions and were willing to assist us with any questions or reservations we required. Marcello took the time to explain the area and some do the history of the villa. We brought home olive oil. The next time we will ship a case!
Enjoyed Most:
The location above the hills of Lucca was beautiful. We loved it so much we always will stay at this villa when in Tusacny. We used the pool and often dined outside in the area that had lovely chairs and tables for our private use.
Enjoyed Least:
Driving down the driveway and out of property on the last day.
Surrounding Area:
The winery Colle Di Bordocheo and a tour with the owner Barbara. She did delicious wine and food pairings. Be sure to book a reservation as this is the only way to see wineries in the area. Touring the house and gardens of Villa Torrigiano is a must. Rent bikes and cycle around the wall of the old city of Lucca. A pretty ride and bike rentals are reasonable. Take the ferry to Cinque Terre. It is a full day, but a truly unique experience.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Segromigno in Monte. We did not explore this town so cannot comment on this aspect.
Tips or Restaurants:
Tenuta San Pietro in the hills above the villa is beautiful and you can look down the hill to the property from this restaurant. The owner was gracious even welcoming us for a glass of wine on a day it was closed. Check out the menu and pricing on the website.
Directions:
Use the written directions as they are well done. The GPS is not dependable in the area.
Check In Out:
We enjoyed dealing with RentVillas. Our Travel Advisor was knowledgeable and organized. Also, there is no tourist tax at this villa and you can put the security deposit on your credit card.

Overall:
Fabulous time.
Enjoyed Most:
We could wander all over the farm.
Surrounding Area:
Getting to hike all over the mountain.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Not within walking distance.

Overall:
A really lovely place and great for summer heat with both a swimming pool and air-conditioned bedrooms. A godsend.
Enjoyed Most:
I liked the privacy and yet all the activity going on around the fattoria. I loved our cleaning woman, Rosana, as she became a constant morning celebration with special treats she made. I loved the pergola with the marble table, where we could eat out all the time.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing, though the downstairs bedroom has a bathroom that is a bit rustic, used for handicapped folks. Other than that, nothing not to like.
Surrounding Area:
I liked its proximity to the beach, to Lucca, and to Barga. Otherwise, I just liked the hillside place to relax.
Nearby Events or Locales:
No town we walked to, but we when into Marlia a lot to go to the grocery store. Allowed for some fabulous meals.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring plenty of bug spray and if you find a purveyor who sells bags of ice, do let me know. We were on a daily search to find ice and Italians find this a bit quaint if not shocking--Americans and their ice drinks...
Directions:
My GPS got me there fine. When my friends tried a second address, it registered.
Check In Out:
It was easy and fun, a delightful time. As Italy continues to warm up more each summer, I was glad that at least the bedrooms had A/C and that made for comfortable sleeping. Anyone can survive the heat of the day and have fun. Not so, at night.

Overall:
Staying at the villa was wonderful. The pool was so fantastic. We all loved waking up to the smell of roses in bloom and honeysuckle in the air. The villa is a wonderful old Tuscan villa. The villa was large enough to accommodate us all with space to be alone. I wanted to experience living in an old Tuscan villa like a local and I got my experience!
Enjoyed Most:
The space was large enough for all of my family. The pool was amazing! The property was lovely as were the views.
Enjoyed Least:
There are no screens on the windows.
Surrounding Area:
We all loved being in the countryside. The walks were wonderful. We even went up the hill to a local restaurant in a home which was one of the best meals we had.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We never did find Segromino in Monte, but had lots of fun going in to Lucca. Lucca is a 15 minute drive away. However there is a large grocery store close by which made life easy!
Tips or Restaurants:
Make sure you go up the hill to the restaurant in the yellow house. A short walk up the hill. We walked everyday up the hill which is good exercise. Bring bug spray. The staff are so helpful and accommodating. No need to over pack; I did do laundry and even without a dryer it dries quickly.
Directions:
We followed the directions from RentVillas and as long as you are observant they were excellent . Once off the main road there is good signage to the estate.
Check In Out:
Monica was so helpful. It was really a breeze to check-in and out.

Overall:
We enjoyed our time at the villa. There was a wonderful dinner provided by staff at the main house.
Enjoyed Most:
Very pleasant grounds - enjoyed sitting by pool. Paths through gardens are delightful.
Enjoyed Least:
Only two of bedrooms have full showers.
Surrounding Area:
Loved Lucca and the farmhouse restaurant just a few kilometers up the hill from our property. Restaurant had a lovely view and excellent food.
Tips or Restaurants:
Farmhouse restaurant up the hill. Bring a comfortable pillow (hard to travel with!) and spend a day in Lucca.
Directions:
There was a road closed so initial directions took us a back way to villa. While there, the main road opened and we had no problems finding our way.
Check In Out:
Marcello was delightful and check-in/check-out were very easy.
