Beautiful scenery. Unlimited things to do.

Marc, June

Overall:
We loved Villa Galli! It was even better than we expected!
Enjoyed Most:
The deck with the stunning views was our favorite!
Surrounding Area:
So much to do in and around the area!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Positano was right at the bottom of our steps
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring beach towels. Cafe Positano was our morning coffee stop because it was right at the bottom of our villa steps. We always got them to go and brought them up to our deck for breakfast. Next 2 was a great contemporary cuisine restaurant just up the hill from Villa Galli. Il Tridente was a fabulous roof top restaurant near our villa at Hotel Poseidon. Very romantic! We also liked Casa e Bottega for breakfast and lunch great salads! Bucca de Becco was right down on the beach and had great traditional Italian food.
Directions:
We had a driver bring us from Sorrento, and he got on the phone with our rental property manager to find location. It was easy!
Check In Out:
Very smooth and easy.

Courtney, June

Overall:
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Excellent location and opportunities to enjoy the Amalfi Coast.
Enjoyed Most:
Spectacular views from the terrace and the peaceful ambiance. Breakfast andor lunch on the terrace were exceptional.
Surrounding Area:
The beautiful location and its unique historical setting.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We visited Ravello, Amalfi, Capri and Paestum. Amalfi and Capri were accessible by ferry, the others by car.
Tips or Restaurants:
Restaurants we thoroughly enjoyed were Next 2, Café Positano, and Lo Guarrancino on the path to Fornillo Beach. There is one at the base of the steps the villa that is excellent and another one in Monte Pertuso that we loved, but sadly, do not remember the names.
Directions:
We hired a driver through RentVillas to meet us at the train station in Naples.
Check In Out:
All went well.

Mike, May

Overall:
Our overall experience was wonderful and I would choose to go there again.
Enjoyed Most:
The terrace is wonderful because it is only in full sunlight in the middle of the day so the mornings and afternoons were lovely. I also liked the layout of the bedrooms and the proximity to restaurants and the beach.
Enjoyed Least:
The steps to the the villa itself were tricky but we were forewarned. The kitchen is the only dreary part of the house and wasn't well-equipped for cooking. But we didn't spend a lot of time in there!
Surrounding Area:
There was lots to do and wonderful weather.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were in Positano.
Tips or Restaurants:
The restaurant next door Vincenzo is good and Next 2 down the road is fabulous.
Directions:
We had a driver so there was no problem.
Check In Out:
We could not reach the local agent for a whole day and I was trying to change check out to earlier. We got her the next day but that was frustrating.

Mary, June

Overall:
This is one of the best locations in Positano. Close to the beach, restaurants and the best view money can buy, with nice indoor and outdoor spaces.
Enjoyed Most:
Location and view tie for our favorite part of the villa. The view from the outdoor deck is wonderful and the location is in the best place possible with market, great restaurants, the shopping square and beach two beaches close by!
Enjoyed Least:
The internet connection was weak and the beds were uncomfortable.
Surrounding Area:
Everything! Easy access to great restaurants, the market and the beach.
Nearby Events or Locales:
I don't remember the name of the next town but we were in the heart of Positano, a beautiful town with very friendly people.
Tips or Restaurants:
All the restaurants are great. The Mediterranean Restaurant up the road was cheaper and had great food. Bring beach towels if you can fit them.
Directions:
We traveled by executive car so the driver knew where we were going. You don't really need a car and it is probably cheaper to take a taxi or executive car.
Check In Out:
Was easy and the gal was very friendly and spoke great English.

Doug, September

Overall:
Fabulous. Villa Galli is a beautiful villa with a spectacular view in a outstanding location, close to everything!
Enjoyed Most:
The patio and the view!
Enjoyed Least:
The showers are very small especially the one near the loft; a grown man might have trouble maneuvering in it!
Surrounding Area:
The view was outstanding, the access to the beach was great, right across the street (of course there were A LOT of stairs to get to any beach, but that's Positano) and the little grocery store a few doors away. It appeared to be family-owned and they couldn't have been nicer or more helpful!
Tips or Restaurants:
Gennaro Salvatore's Amalfi boat cruise was terrific. He has a kiosk near Spiagga Grande. Da Vincenzo restaurant is literally next door, great pasta! Next 2 and the the restaurant in the Miramar Hotel are within walking distance from the villa. Spiagga Arienzo, a water taxi ride from Spiagga Grande, is a great beach and bar with great food and wine.
Directions:
We had a taxi service from the airport so this is not applicable.
Check In Out:
No, check on and check out we're a breeze!

Catherine, August

Overall:
Excellent. Great location in the middle of town. Good restaurants on the block, a small food and wine store down the street, and only 360 stairs to the beach!
Enjoyed Most:
Location was outstanding. One of the best restaurants in town is right downstairs and a nice outside place for breakfast and late night drinks and snacks right across the street. The view from the patio was other-wordly.
Enjoyed Least:
Furnishings. Beds were not comfortable.
Surrounding Area:
Beautiful view, convenient food and groceries, safe to walk even in the middle of the night- we had my college age daughter and two of her friends with us. The neighborhood was quiet but always enough people around to keep it fun.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were in the middle of Positano. Closest small town, Nocele, is 1700 stairs up the mountain from Positano. We did not walk that but people do.
Tips or Restaurants:
The restaurant at the bottom of the steps from the villa is great--one of the best in town. La Tagliata in Montepertuso is a must. Family-style fixed price feasting. They grow most of what they cook. Call for a reservation and the restaurant will pick you up and bring you back.
Directions:
We were driven from Rome so directions weren't an issue for us.

Jeff, July

Overall:
The view and location are superb!
Enjoyed Most:
The patio dining, location, and view.
Enjoyed Least:
We paid for maid service but felt that the service received was inadequate; sheets were changed, but garbage was not removed. TV didn't work and we tried to contact the local agent but received no response. The plants on the patio, which is very nice, needed water.
Surrounding Area:
The restaurants were great! Rada was amazing. Beach was VERY expensive to rent chairs and towels.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Positano immediately. Nothing in walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring you own shampoo, conditioner, washcloth, soap. Rada sushi was amazing! Cafe Positano was great.
Directions:
We had a driver so no advice to offer.

Robyn, June

Overall:
The property is ideally located on the only road to the center. It is also very close to a market and a very good restaurant (Da Vincenzo). With all the walking and stairs, being close to the road and a bus stop was very helpful.
Enjoyed Most:
The view and the outdoor area.
Enjoyed Least:
The stairs up to the villa.
Surrounding Area:
The scenery and the restaurants.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Nocelle--but not walking distance unless you like about 1700 stairs.
Tips or Restaurants:
Da Vincenzo was a few steps from the villa and was excellant. Do not bring heavy suitcases because there is no way to wheel them up or down the steps (66 steps). There is porter service for 80 Euros but it will take time to get there so plan ahead if you need it.
Directions:
The villa stairs are the first stairs up from Da Vincenzo. The local agent will meet you at the villa and give you directions if needed.
Check In Out:
Check in and out was efficient. The rental agent read the electric meter and then deducted the cost from the security deposit of 800 euro. We used 130 Euros for one week.

Amy, May

Overall:
We loved the location and view from the patio. It was more than we expected!
Enjoyed Most:
The location is close to the center, dining, markets and bus stop. We did dine in a lot and the kitchen was great for cooking and preparing meals. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were sparkling and roomy.
Enjoyed Least:
Everything was great except getting the luggage up the stairs.
Surrounding Area:
Window shopping and people watching was fabulous. We took the bus to Montepertuso and took many exciting pictures of the surrounding countryside.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Nocelle but it is not within walking distance unless you are in very good shape. 1700 stairs to the village from Positano.
Tips or Restaurants:
Two of the best restaurants were Da Vincenzo (the next door neighbor to Villa Galli ) and Max (via dei Mulini). Max is more upscale but worth it. Both had excellent food and wine.
Directions:
The stairs to the Villa are the first set on the uphill side of Da Vincenzo.
Check In Out:
The check in was efficient as was the check out. The agent read the electric meter with us on arrival and at check out. The 130 euro charge was deducted from our 800 euro security deposit and the remainder was returned as cash. Note that the security deposit is in cash so be prepared before arrival.

Peter, May

Overall:
The home was fabulous! Beautifully appointed. The photos really do not show how beautiful it is. Nothing was lacking in kitchen or rest of home.
Enjoyed Most:
The view and location.
Surrounding Area:
The grocery store down the block, easy access to walk to central area. BEAUTIFUL VIEWS of the sea.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Yes, we walked everywhere, very convenient to Positano. But was far enough away to be quiet and peaceful.
Tips or Restaurants:
Highly recommend booking a walking tour with Christine Ornelas. She is an Australian who lives in Positano with her Italian husband and children. Her email is christinornelas@gmail.com. We arranged this tour before we left for our trip so our very first day she showed us around and this really gave us the feel of Positano and where to eat and shop, plus we got the history of Positano, etc.

Terri, November

Overall:
Villa Galli offered me and my friends a once-in-a-lifetime vacation. I was celebrating my 50th birthday and Villa Galli made it very special.
Enjoyed Most:
The view from the terrace, without a doubt.
Enjoyed Least:
No place in the shower to rest your shampoo or soap and no waste baskets in the bathroom.
Surrounding Area:
It was within easy walking distance to all the boutiques in Positano, very close to a grocery and great restaurants.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Positano. Yes, very easy walking to all of Positano.
Tips or Restaurants:
The Latteria grocery became our go-to place for food, wine and shopping.
Directions:
We had a driver and he had no trouble finding the property.
Check In Out:
No, everything worked very smoothly.

Lisa, June

Overall:
We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the villa. It was exactly as described. We enjoyed having so much room and modern conveniences. You could gaze out at the view for hours. The stairs to the villa were not an issue.
Enjoyed Most:
The property was modern, clean, spacious and nicely decorated. The view was outstanding. It was in a great location to use as a base to make day trips to Capri, Amalfi, Ravello, etc. My 9 and 10 year old children had a blast staying in the loft and having their own private area. The villa was like a fortress in a cave and rooms were very dark so you could sleep in.
Enjoyed Least:
There wasn't a drip coffee maker or toaster. We only had one English speaking TV channel.
Surrounding Area:
You were located very close to shops, restaurants, grocery store, banks, etc. You could walk down the street a ways and pretty much be in the heart of Positano. Across the street were stairs that went straight down to the beach. They were quite a workout to walk back up, but you could always take your time and make it up leisurely via the street.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The villa is pretty much in Positano and a short walk got you to the town square.
Tips or Restaurants:
I would recommend beach towels if you plan to go to the beach since all they provide is bath towels. Down by the bottom steps of the villa was a great restaurant called Ristaurante Da Vincenzo that was excellent and convenient.
Directions:
We did use GPS. Note that once you turn at the International Bar (as indicated in the arrival instructions) it is a one way street in and out of Positano. No turning around!
Check In Out:
The key holder was very nice and helpful. We were very statisfied with the check-in/out process.

Stacy, March

Overall:
There were four of us, fifty-something year olds. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Galli. We had outstanding weather and beautiful clear nights to enjoy the view of town, the moon became full over the course of the week and hung elegantly, shining on the sea below.
Enjoyed Most:
We loved the location, so much just steps away. Yet we were surprised how quiet it was at the villa. The balcony was wonderful for a late night glass of Italian wine and early morning espresso.
Enjoyed Least:
The kitchen wasn't really well-equipped.
Surrounding Area:
Positano was great, lots of restaurants and shopping. We hired a driver to take us to Amalfi and Ravello, although there were lots of buses available. We took the ferry to Capri, very easy to do, definitely worth the 30 Euros per person. There were two beaches within walking distance in Positano, some steps involved but we all enjoyed the exercise.
Tips or Restaurants:
We read on the RentVillas site about the steps up to the villa, apparently a challenge for some, and the suggestion oto bring flashlights. We did bring flashlights, but found the steps very well lighted and really didn't need them. We had a most wonderful dinner at Next 2, a restaurant up the street from our place, shouldn't be missed.
Directions:
We met a driver in Sorrento, who called our contact person for directions. He knew exactly where to take us.
Check In Out:
The check-in and out was excellent and quick, nothing we didn't expect.

Patti, September

Overall:
Excellent, great view, and close to some good restaurants and wine store.
Enjoyed Most:
The view from the terrace.
Enjoyed Least:
The kitchen had a musty smell.
Surrounding Area:
We liked the proximity of ammenities.
Tips or Restaurants:
Be prepared for the stairs.

Keith, September

Overall:
Wonderful!
Enjoyed Most:
We loved the location, the sumptuous space, the beautiful antiques and, of course, the breath taking view.
Enjoyed Least:
We thought the cleaning fee was high! In fact, we cancelled one day of cleaning because we just did not mess up the place.
Surrounding Area:
We liked being slightly up from the town.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The villa location was the perfect distance from the center of town and the beach. Maybe beach people would consider it a little far from the beach.

Carleen, November

Overall:
Villa Galli is a fairly new and very beautiful villa. The view of the sea is absolutely breathtaking. Kitchen was very well appointed whereby we could get breakfast before we took off for the day. Beds were very comfortable and villa overall was very clean which I appreciated because I am a clean nut in general.
Enjoyed Most:
The view and the spaciousness made you feel at home and private from other people sharing villa. Closets and drawers were very ample and clean. It was very peaceful and private. Outdoor veranda is really beautiful, and good for early evening beautiful photos. I am a painter and probably will paint some of my shots.
Enjoyed Least:
The biggest drawback to this property are the 75 steep stairs in poor state of repair that we had to climb everyday. You have to be in fantastic shape to climb up and down everyday. We managed it fine but would have been easier to have less steep steps. We also had a lot of difficulty with flies. There are no screens anywhere. Even candles we purchased did not help. Water in showers would run hot or cold, very difficult to control.
Surrounding Area:
We loved the shops, restaurants and the beautiful people both Italian and others we met in Positano.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were fortunate to get the best weather while there and enjoyed wonderful memorable trips to Sorrento, Capri, and Amalfi. An Amalfi coastal boat ride was just breathtaking as we went into caves and saw beautiful coral, etc.
Tips or Restaurants:
Absolutely, bring small flashlights to use on steps leading up to villa. We had a wonderful experience going to La Tagliata family restaurant. Not for the faint of heart as it is literally "on the moon" and is reached by shuttle supplied by the restaurant. All food is grown on premises and is definitely a "happening".
Directions:
We had a driver arranged by Rentvillas, and a porter to bring our bags up to villa. This was definitely a plus.
Check In Out:
A young lady, Filomina, was very competent and sweet and got us in and out with no problem.

Joy, October

Overall:
The most enjoyable getaway we've ever had!
Enjoyed Most:
The whole thing, but the terrace stood out and became the focal point of our experience at the villa.
Enjoyed Least:
There was a funny smell in the kitchen area that we couldn't pinpoint. Also, we didn't have a key to the main door, and neither did the owner, so closing the place up to keep the heat out during the day was more involved than it should've been. We ended up locking ourselves out on the last day when we unintentionally closed too many doors, even though we had all the keys.
Surrounding Area:
The natural beauty of the landscape and towns was indescribable. The locals were very friendly and seemed genuinely interested in helping make sure we had a good time. Drivers and boat captains! were exceptionally helpful and skilled at their chosen trades - we've never seen anyone maneuver a vehicle the way Peter handled his boat!
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were in Positano and we took a boat to Amalfi where we took a cab to Ravello. We didn't try walking anywhere which breaks with tradition for us, though if you consider the 480 steps down to the beach, then Positano beach was the next small town P.S. - we're officially hard bodies now!
Tips or Restaurants:
GOOD WALKING SHOES, vitamins for the plane. Try Ristorante Mediterraneo right up the street from the villa. The market down the street from Cafe Positano has a sweet family of ladies - 3 generations... 4 if you count baby Julia born while we were there!.
Directions:
We hired a driver - highly recommended after a long flight.
Check In Out:
Antonietta was very thorough in describing the property and explaining the process.
