Customer Reviews

Overall:
The location was perfect. The short walk into town and the easy access out of town made this a perfect spot in the heart of Tuscany.
Enjoyed Most:
We loved that we had the best of both worlds. Close enough to town that we could walk with the feeling that we were in the country when you looked out either the front or back of the villa.
Enjoyed Least:
There was very little to complain about at Casa Gioia. Our only complaint was that the espresso pot was too small and the "American Coffee Maker" was too slow to brew. Also the knives in the kitchen could use some upgrading.
Surrounding Area:
We loved that we had easy access throughout the Chianti Region. The rolling hills and the landscape are breathtaking.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The villa is less than a 10 minute walk into Greve.
Tips or Restaurants:
We have used RentVillas many times now so we are generally used to what to expect when staying at a villa. We travel with our own reuseable shopping bags as well this time we brought a small folding cooler for our trips into the CO-OP. We also travel with Tide-Pods for the washing machine as well as bounce sheets and zip lock bags.
Directions:
We bring along our own GPS as well as paper maps, but the directions provided got us to the villa with no problems.
Check In Out:
The check-in and check-out are seamless.

Overall:
Excellent! Modern, well equipped house on a very quiet street. A nice pool, although the water was cool (ok, cold!) in the 3 rd week of October.
Enjoyed Most:
The location was perfect for us. We had a car to explore the countryside and other towns, but we could easily walk to the Greve town square, shops and restaurants.
Enjoyed Least:
Getting by car onto the main street was difficult. Despite a mirror, there was very poor visibility of traffic at the T-junction.
Surrounding Area:
Wine-tasting opportunities abound. Every walk took us by vineyards and olive trees, and there was another village within walking distance (if you don't mind hills!).
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were on the edge of Greve in Chianti. A 5 minute walk to the town square.
Tips or Restaurants:
The town square has a couple of good, modestly priced restaurants. Opening times vary. The butcher shop, also in the square, sells great sandwiches, gellato, and prepaid cards for wine tasting at the dispenser outside the shop.
Directions:
We used a GPS (essential, really), and had no problems finding the property.
Check In Out:
We had problems with our phone, but the tourist information office (yes, in the town square) quickly reached our contact person and we traveled back to the property where we checked in. Check out was fine.

Overall:
We loved it! The property manager was amazing and responsive - we also loved being able to walk to Greve for meals or gelato.
Enjoyed Most:
The location and the convenience and the responsiveness of the property manager.
Surrounding Area:
Visiting the small towns nearby and the local vineyards and spending time in Greve
Nearby Events or Locales:
Greve - yes, short walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
We loved arranging for a cook. It was one of the most fun meals - we also loved the tasting dinner at Dario the Butcher and had a couple other amazing meals and loved the family owned winery up on the hill (I forgot the name but it has many stars from Trip Advisor).
Directions:
Use GPS
Check In Out:
No - our luggage was lost but it actually arrived two days later ... and the property manager lent us some toiletries in the interim ... it worked out fine. Check in and out was the easiest part of everything.

Overall:
The property is fairly modern and situated on the hillside, affording beautiful views of the town, surrounding hills and the vineyard rising up the slope to the top of the hill. It was a very tranquil area yet within an extremely reasonable walking distance (10 minutes) from the town piazza. The owners were beyond hospitable, extremely welcoming and accommodating in every way! They went out of their way to bring people together with local wines and foods and music.
Enjoyed Most:
It provide all the comforts of home and served as a base from which to explore the region and other major attractions within driving range. We enjoyed down time for sleeping in, reading, and swimming in a private setting unlike a hotel. We prepared our own meals for breakfast, which gave us a leisurely start to the day's adventures and savored the fabulous Italian cuisine for our evening dining out experiences.
Enjoyed Least:
No DVD player. Limited programming in English on TV channels. Pool was fabulous but cold!
Surrounding Area:
This area is the Gateway to the Chianti region and the Heart of Tuscany! Within distance of many wonderful medieval towns like San Gimignano and Monteriggione, as well as, the close proximity to Siena and Florence.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Greve. Yes within 10 minutes from the property. Uphill/downhill.
Tips or Restaurants:
Insect repellant. Gallo Nero - excellent fish! and local dishes. A block off the main piazza. La Cantina - excellent pizza, friendly owners, alfresco dining off the main drag, less frenzied. Many wonderful dishes to sample.
Directions:
Directions were a good supplement, but we basically relied on the GPS, which got us there right on the money!
Check In Out:
Very smooth. Fees taken out of the deposit and balance returned at the end of the week.

Overall:
Excellent!
Enjoyed Most:
Location, views and the outside pool and patio!
Enjoyed Least:
The only thing I would change would be to add a more comfortable seating in the living room!
Surrounding Area:
Views and the proximity to Florence and Siena.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Greve in Chianti--yes, it was just a couple blocks to main piazza.
Tips or Restaurants:
We tried several restaurants in the town of Greve and all of them were really good.
Directions:
We did not follow the written directions from Rome, I wish we had; we followed the GPS and we were lost! Matter of fact, I need to email Garmin and let them know that their Italy map was not accurate!
Check In Out:
Monica, the onsite property mgr was extremely helpful! Check in and check out was uneventful!

Overall:
Could not have been better. We had the time of our lives!
Enjoyed Most:
Everything! The view, walking distance to the wonderful town of Greve, and the property itself.
Surrounding Area:
The hills, wine country, and the people.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Yes, it was perfect. Could not think of a better location. We would go back in a heart beat.
Directions:
GPS is a must have, don't leave home without it.

Overall:
Our overall experience was excellent. Casa Gioia exceeded our expectations and we would recommend this villa to others. Highlights were clearly the views, the field of iris, and the local village, Greve.
Enjoyed Most:
The walkable town Greve has wonderful shops and restaurants. This is what we like most about the property. Also the field of blooming iris and the lovely songbirds throughout the day were delightful.
Surrounding Area:
We enjoyed the local vineyards and well-kept farms in the surrounding area.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Greve was the nearest town and was within walking distance. We visited Greve often and enjoyed the piazza, restaurants and shops.
Tips or Restaurants:
We did not have a single bad meal in Greve, all restaurants were very good. Have lunch (w/ reservations) at "Antica Macelleria Cecchini" (the Mad Butcher) in neighboring Panzano. Excellent food and nice atmosphere on their terrace.

Overall:
The pictures online were great, but really didn't do justice to the beauty of Casa Gioia.
Enjoyed Most:
The pictures online didn't show the outside eating area. We spent alot of our relaxing time sitting under the umbrella.
Surrounding Area:
The field behind the villa had thousands of iris in bloom! Gorgeous! Sunday morning the church bells rang for several minutes.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We loved being able to walk to Greve. The flower festival was the weekend we arrived. What a nice welcome.
Tips or Restaurants:
All of the restaurants in Greve were wonderful. We didn't have a hair dryer, but the homeowner brought us one as soon as we asked.
Directions:
We DID use the GPS and parked in front of the villa before we called the owner!
Check In Out:
Excellent process coming and going! Thank you for a wonderful experience.
