Customer Reviews

Overall:
Wonderful, great design for two couples, each having their own space and baths. Very comfortable living and dining areas, great views from the balcony and every room.
Enjoyed Most:
See above
Enjoyed Least:
Lack of extra toilet paper.
Surrounding Area:
Everything, close restaurants and grocery stores, beautiful scenery in any direction.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Praiano, not within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
This villa is close to the town center (8 minutes walk) where there are several good restaurants or just up the street within 2 minutes there are also 4 restaurants which are good.
Directions:
We arranged a driver to pick us up and take us back to Naples Airport through RentVillas and they were excellent.
Check In Out:
Andrea was the property manager and he was excellent, on time at both check-in and check-out.

Kathy, November

Overall:
Great location and great view of the sea from the balcony. Well-equpped kitchen. Andrea was great and very helpful.
Enjoyed Most:
The location and view. Well-equipped kitchen. Plenty of room to eat in. The balcony. Having a garage was a great advantage as we drove to several spots. The garage is rather small so it is best to have a small car.
Enjoyed Least:
The showers were tiny (not unusual in Europe). Could have used more towels.
Surrounding Area:
Positano is beautiful and clean. Easy to access Capri and towns on the coast by ferry. Driving though is challenging. The Sentiero degli Dei is spectacular. Stop at the convent up from Praiano during your hike for concerts.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Located fairly centrally in Positano, a bit up the hill from most of the activity.
Tips or Restaurants:
Many good restaurants. The ones on the beach are OK but pricey.
Directions:
Google Maps works fine.
Check In Out:
Andrea was great.

Sean, October

Overall:
It was a great place to stay!
Enjoyed Most:
We loved that there were many great restaurants nearby.
Surrounding Area:
Great views
Nearby Events or Locales:
Positano was within walking distance.

Lori, September

Overall:
We loved our stay and enjoyed our time at Villa Perla
Enjoyed Most:
The views and size of the villa
Enjoyed Least:
Size of the beds and showers
Surrounding Area:
Loved Positano and we were close to good restuarants and it wasn't too far to the beach
Directions:
The barber shop on Via Pasitea is a good landmark as it is directly underneath the villa .
Check In Out:
No - Andrea was very helpful.

Gill, July

Overall:
Apartment was great. Clean, well layed out. Well stocked with kitchen utensils, linens, etc
Enjoyed Most:
View. Spectacular!
Enjoyed Least:
Stairs. Though it's clearly stated in the description, they would be a challenge. They are not for anyone who is not in shape. There was a railing only part of the way.
Surrounding Area:
Restaurants, beach
Tips or Restaurants:
D'Vicenzio
Check In Out:
Andrea did a great job getting the place ready.

Bill, June

Overall:
We enjoyed our stay at Villa Perla. The views and the terrace were outstanding. The location in Positano was good, not too far from the centre of town, close to restaurants but not noisy either.
Enjoyed Most:
The view and the terrace. We spent most of the time when we were at the Villa on the terrace. The space was great for the two couples and the unit was clean.
Surrounding Area:
We loved Positano. It's well located to visit the rest of the Amalfi Coast but not too isolated. You can boat to Capri, Amalfi and beyond and the SITA bus stop can take you anywhere on the coast. The beaches were great, lots of good restaurants and bars for Aperitivo.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Located in Positano - it's a hike up and down to the main beach, we did it daily and it never got easy but that's the Amalfi coast for you.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring good shoes, a big beach bag (you don't want to have to go up and down more than once). We enjoyed breakfast and supper at Cafe Positano close to the villa and I personally thought our best meal was at Da Vincenzo. We took a boat to Capri and Francesco (guide) was great.
Directions:
We used a GPS but the directions given were great. You just need to keep your eyes open once you turn onto the main street in Positano.
Check In Out:
Check in and out went smoothly. Andrea's parents meet us on check in and were every helpful. Their English was a little limited but they help us locate what we needed and explained everything well. Andrea met us early to check out and it was quick and efficient.

David, June

Overall:
It was amazing! The property manager worked flawlessly with our driver so they were able to find the property easily. He was also tremendous in helping with our luggage down the daunting steps. The check input process was quick and easy. The villa was very clean and comfortable.
Enjoyed Most:
The patio! The views were spectacular both day and night. Positano is a very "compact" town so you have villas all around you. The structure of this villa is such that the patio offers you privacy so you don't have someone looking down on you from either side or above you. We were here there for two weeks in May so the weather was perfect. Because of this, we never spent any time in the living room and ate every meal outside. We were on our patio every morning and evening when we weren't out touring or walking the town.
Enjoyed Least:
The bathrooms. Showers were very small but I think this is just the style in Italy as you see the same thing in the hotels. It is a little noisy but expected when you are in this town because of how it is built. I always pack earplugs but didn't even use them because hearing the local people come and go was somewhat soothing to me. If you like quiet, I recommend not staying in Positano because you will probably find various levels of noise anywhere you stay.
Surrounding Area:
The location was perfect. Centrally located in Positano so you could walk everywhere to town for shopping and to both local beaches. Lots of great restaurants also within walking distance.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We didn't walk to any nearby towns. Positano is pretty large and walking all over this town was a big enough challenge for us. We took a bus our first day since we didn't know how close the main plaza was. Once we took this bus around town for one full loop, we figured we would walk anywhere within 15 to 30 minutes. (Of course we all love walking so we didn't mind the hills).
Tips or Restaurants:
RentVillas did a great job of advising what to bring to the villa. Next 2 was our favorite local restaurant. Poseidon Hotel has the best burger in Positano if you get a craving for something less Italian. Puppetto down on Fornillo Beach has great breakfasts and lunches if you decide to spend the day down there on the beach. They also have cocktail service on the lounge chairs so you can experience la dolce vita!
Directions:
We found the best way to give directions is to give them the name of the closest hotel. All drivers know the local hotels so we would just tell them the steps to our villa were located directly across from Hotel Pasitea and they immediately said "oh yes". We would meet any taxi or tour driver at the steps and they were there every time!
Check In Out:
The villa owner/manager was very friendly and accommodating. You get the sense they truly want you to have a great time on your vacation and make themselves available by leaving their cell phone number.

Debbie, May

Overall:
Fantastic holiday, good position, plenty of space inside.
Enjoyed Most:
Great position within Positano, close enough to walk to everything but not right in the crowds. Fantastic balcony with great views for afternoon drinks.
Enjoyed Least:
Internet didn't work very well.
Surrounding Area:
Great restaurants, good walking trails, easy access to the rest of the Amalfi Coast.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Positano- yes.
Tips or Restaurants:
Restaurants - Da Vincenzo - need to book ahead; Collina Bakery is a must and the general store 10 minutes further down the hill had most things.
Directions:
Current directions were fine.

Susan, April

Overall:
We loved how spacious and bright the property was, and enjoyed our time on the terrace looking out on that incredible view. It made our mornings and evenings very special.
Enjoyed Most:
The view!!! It was very clean and spacious. Perfect for two couples or a family.
Enjoyed Least:
The steps, but knew that we would have to climb steps before we arrived, because Positano is a vertical city. It is part of being there.
Surrounding Area:
The restaurants and bars were wonderful and walking distance from the villa. Also the total beauty of the views everywhere you looked. Also the very nice shops in the area.
Nearby Events or Locales:
No, the next town was not in walking distance for us. Perhaps others might want to do it, but it was too difficult for us.
Tips or Restaurants:
Beach towels are not included if you decide to go to the beaches. Also you own personal care products. Otherwise we were very comfortable and most of what we needed was there. You do need to bring a cell phone.
Directions:
We had a driver who called Andrea a half hour before we arrived and we got there with no problem. I'm sure he was more familiar with the area then tourists would be, so I would think that a GPS would be needed.
Check In Out:
They went smoothly. Andrea was there waiting for us when we arrived and gave us a tour of the villa. He also arrived 15 minutes before our driver arrived and helped with the bags. It was very good.

Donna, October

Overall:
Large apartment, 2 main en suites, great for 2 couples. View from large terrace was magnificent. Kitchen was fully stocked with pots, pans, cutlery etc. large refrigerator, Individual AC in all rooms. Concierge, Antonio, was very helpful and met us on our arrival and helped us with our bags both coming and going. Overall a great location, several restaurants close by, but do need to climb 65 stairs which is a good workout.
Enjoyed Most:
The terrace and the views.
Surrounding Area:
Several good restaurants and nice shops for food and wine.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Praiano. Need to take a bus. But Amalfi and Capri were a boat ride away.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring good walking shoes. Several restaurants were close by and very good Da Vincenza, Il Capitano, Il Saraceno d'oro, and Il Fornillo.
Directions:
We had a driver, so no problem. He contacted Antonio so our meeting up was easy.
Check In Out:
Very quick and easy.

Frederick, October

Overall:
Our family of four "loved it, loved it, loved it". It was like being at home. So clean and cared for. The kitchen was very well equipped, our two adult children were so taken with enjoying the Italian coffee makers.
Enjoyed Most:
Its location mid point on the hill and the view to wake up to was awesome. All rooms with a view. Being in the kitchen was like working outside! You do get some street noise which added to our Italian experience.
Surrounding Area:
Very central, close to great little shop down the hill from the villa which we visited every day for supplies. Loved the restaurants. Enjoyed the beach (a real work out to get there) still managed to do it everyday, now feeling fit!
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were happy in Positano so did not venture to any small towns.
Tips or Restaurants:
Suntan lotion. Face cloths. Hand soap. We enjoyed Da Constantino (book a reservation and they will pick you up).
Directions:
We had no trouble as we were picked up at Salerno train station by a driver Guido who was so nice. He spoke to Andrea the key holder and got the directions to the villa. Andrea was at the road to greet us and helped us down the 60 stairs to the villa with our bags.
Check In Out:
Both went very well. Communication with Andrea was easy. On checking out Andrea bought his mother and brother along and we enjoyed meeting them.

Judy, September

Overall:
Enjoyed the spectacular view, great location and comfortable property.
Enjoyed Most:
View.
Surrounding Area:
Spectacular setting nearby restaurants; overall location was great.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Positano within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Comfortable shoes and explore your surroundings.
Directions:
RentVillas arranged a car service; no problems.
Check In Out:
Very friendly staff.

Clayton, May

Overall:
Terrific. Great villa. Great location. Great amenities, including air conditiong. Wonderful restaurants, especially the seafood. Gelati were outstanding. The wives took a boat trip to Capri for the day and the four of us took a boat trip to Amalfi for the day. We rented a Fiat 500 convertible for a day to drive the coast to Vietri and Ravello.
Enjoyed Most:
The views, the air conditioning, the location. Everything in Positano was within walking distance. The cleanliness of the villa and the kitchen.
Enjoyed Least:
Having to deal with 4-6 different types of trash/garbage/recyclables. We spent a lot of time on the balcony enjoying the ocean views, cheese, fruit, wine, etc. More comfortable lounge chairs and table chairs would have been most welcome.
Surrounding Area:
Positano is a gem and we enjoyed everything associated with the town from the many great restaurants within walking distance, the many fine shops, the friendliness of the Italians.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were on the hillside in Positano. Everything was walkable.
Tips or Restaurants:
Pick any restaurant you can't be wrong, especially if you enjoy fresh seafood and great wines. Bring some books and enjoy the balcony with some wine, cheese and fruit.
Directions:
This was not an issue for us and we used a car service from Naples airport to the Villa Perla and from the villa to Rome.
Check In Out:
Went very well. Andrea is a nice man.

David, September

Overall:
This is perfectly situated so that you could walk to the top of the hill (what we called the Mayor's corner) to the beach. Just perfect!
Enjoyed Most:
Front terrace area with a view of the water.
Surrounding Area:
Close to everything, bakery, church, beach, restaurants.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We took day trips to many towns an hour or two away.
Tips or Restaurants:
Lots of good restaurants...all good.
Check In Out:
Very accommodating!

John, June

Overall:
Fantastic stay! Relaxing yet so much to do.
Enjoyed Most:
The location and THE VIEW! The 60 stairs down and up or the 40 stairs up and down were quite doable, especially after climbing more than that in other areas of town. Having a parking garage for the car was an added bonus (even though it takes three people to get it in and out; one to drive, one to stop traffic, and one to guide the driver as to how many inches before he touches a car!)
Enjoyed Least:
If I have to pick one thing, I would say it is a little noisy. However, that is minor compared to how wonderful everything else is about this property!
Surrounding Area:
The locals were all very friendly. We enjoyed walking thru town to Spiaggia Grande, checking out all the little shops, having breakfast at Hotel Villa delle Palme, and eating at Cafe Positano watching cars and people go by while enjoying the view of the sea!
Nearby Events or Locales:
We didn't really walk to any other towns. We did do a day trip to Capri, Pompeii, and Amalfi. All very convenient to get to from our villa. We rented a boat at the beach for Capri, drove ourselves to Pompeii and Vesuvius, and took the ferry from the beach to Amalfi. We saw the local buses that were available as well, but we didn't use them.
Tips or Restaurants:
Julianna at Hotel Villa delle Palme was a wonderful source of information and breakfast there was delightful. We enjoyed cooking ourselves, and the villa kitchen was well equipped for that. We thought our dinner at Buca di Bacco was delicious!
Directions:
We did not use a GPS and were able to find the villa just fine. I had used Google Maps as well to print out a second set of directions, and zoomed in as well to see surrounding properties for names to have more landmarks to look for as we got closer. Also, we met the key holder at a different location than what the directions said, and this made getting the luggage to the villa so much easier. Better to carry bags down 40 steps than have to carry them up 60!!
Check In Out:
It was all very easy.

Deann, May

Overall:
Great spot - easy walk to town, near groceries and restaurants. Happened to arrive a bit early in the season in a storm, so it was pretty cold at first. It was perfect after the weather warmed a bit.
Enjoyed Most:
Location; view; terrace; kitchen with a view.
Enjoyed Least:
Beds were pretty firm and during the cold snap the floors were chilly.
Surrounding Area:
Clean; quiet; lots of restaurants and shops near by; easy walk to downtown.
Tips or Restaurants:
Positano--Toni Taxi is a great local resource for car service, boat tours, car tours, winery tours, and restaurant recommendations.
Directions:
Used GPS. Positano is easy to get around in.
Check In Out:
Great check in and check out - really great!

Russell, April

Overall:
I would recommend this villa without hesitation. We travelled as a couple with 2 young children and my mother-in-law. Overall we had a very good experience.
Enjoyed Most:
The view is astonishing, the property is squeaky clean, vast, the owners are nice and available. They left information on activities in and around Positano. We liked the nice wine cellar with 10 euro bottles to buy as needed. This was very practical especially on sunday when many shops closed early. The kitchen was well equipped.
Enjoyed Least:
We only had one set of towels per person. Although we were told that this was standard, we felt that at this price range, just a few extra-towels in a cupboard in case of need would have been appropriate.
Surrounding Area:
Capri is a must. It is easy to organize day trips from Positano. We enjoyed driving along the coast. Amalfi is also worth to see, as well as is Pompeii. We did a small road-trip more inland in Agerola and through to Furore. The views were stunning. It is a shame that at this time of year, tastings in wineries were less available than earlier in the season.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The property is inside Positano. One can walk down to the beach and city center, and you can also take the bus (Positano interno).
Tips or Restaurants:
Restaurants San Vincenzo and Max proved to be very good and welcoming. If you have small children, don't forget to bring baby carriers, as strollers are not practical in the many stairs in the city (that are worth to be taken).
Directions:
We used a GPS. The owner contacted us 1 day prior to arrival and gave us clear instructions. Someone was waiting for us when we arrived and led us to the property for check in. There's a flight of stair down to the property so, if possible, try to avoid large and/or heavy suitcases.

Felix-Antoine, October

Overall:
We had a lovely time staying in the villa. It had all the amenities that you would need or want. It was very comfortable, clean and bright. It was also very spacious. I felt at home.
Enjoyed Most:
We loved the view from the terrace location. The owners of the Villa are lovely people.
Enjoyed Least:
If I had to say, the showers were a little bit small, but the bathrooms are a nice size; the shower size didn't impact our stay in a negative way at all. There are quite a few steps to get to the villa which we knew before we rented. The entire area of Positano requires walking up and down steps, but this is part of the charm of the area.
Surrounding Area:
I enjoyed the beach, shopping, and just the beauty of the area. Our two children came with us, who are in their twenties, and they enjoyed the area too--especially the night life.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Positano was the closest in walking distance to us. All the other towns you can use the SITA bus or taxi.
Tips or Restaurants:
I would recommend the restaurant Meditteraneo; it was very good. The owner Lorenzo was extremely friendly and couldn't do enough to make your meal a wonderful experience. This villa had a lot of items for the renters to start their vacation. The kitchen had olive oil, vinegar, and other items stored in the kitchen cabinets.
Directions:
We used a private driver to from the airport for any sightseeing that we did in the area.
Check In Out:
The check in/out process was fine. No problems at all. Andrea also helped us with our luggage. Everything was wonderful.

Maria, August
