Customer Reviews

Overall:
We absolutely loved staying at Casale Terme and loved the owner who was so helpful.
Enjoyed Most:
The view and the pool area when we decided we needed some down time. It was so relaxing.
Enjoyed Least:
The crazy roads to get up to the villa. We got lost every evening getting home in the dark and luckily I was able to contact the owner and he came to find us and guide us back.
Surrounding Area:
We loved the couple of villages we visited close to the villa and the closeness of the train station.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Nothing was within walking distance, but a couple of towns were about 15 - 20 minute drive away so that was great.
Tips or Restaurants:
Nothing in particular - all the restaurants we visited were great. We loved spending time in Pistoia and Montecatini - great for people watching and for shopping.
Directions:
We used Waze which was 90% good at getting us to the villa. The last little bit was confusing but we finally got the hang of it. The issue is if you make a wrong turn, there's no way to turn around as the roads are winding and narrow.
Check In Out:
This was perfect.

Overall:
Property is amazing. Everything one can need in a house for rent in Tuscany.
Enjoyed Most:
Pool area.
Enjoyed Least:
Outside steps at night. Need a guide to where all the lights are for the outside property.
Surrounding Area:
Restaurants
Nearby Events or Locales:
Monsummano Terme. No it was not waking. Car is required.
Tips or Restaurants:
Better directions to the house. Guide for the outside lights. List in the house of restaurants with descriptions. Taxi driver options.
Directions:
GPS provided by rental car company was old and did not work. Needed to use an iPhone and GPS on the phone.

Overall:
The property was excellent, the views are awesome. Everything was very well maintained and very clean. I couldn't be more pleased.
Enjoyed Most:
The views of course, that's what you come to Tuscany for, just unbelievable!
Enjoyed Least:
The drive.
Surrounding Area:
Very near some towns, to do shopping, etc.
Nearby Events or Locales:
No not within walking distance. You definitely need a car.
Tips or Restaurants:
They provide everything they say they will, very complete.
Check In Out:
That went all terrific.

Paula, July

Overall:
It was a wonderful experience all around! The villa and outdoor areas (especially the pool!) were beautiful and beautifully kept up. The bedrooms and baths had every modern convenience and the views from everywhere on the property were spectacular! Paolo was a terrific help and indulged me in my mediocre Italian!
Enjoyed Most:
The pool, views and serenity.
Enjoyed Least:
The drive up and down the mountain. It was hair-raising at times!
Surrounding Area:
The train station was so convenient and it was a relatively short ride to so many towns. Montecatini Terme, a 15-20 minute drive, was a great town to hang out in, shop, and have dinner and lunch. It's charming and fun.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Monsummano Terme. Nothing is walking distance from the villa.
Tips or Restaurants:
La Foresteria in Monsummano Alto (5 minutes from the villa) was wonderful and the view was incredible. Open only Tuesday through Friday. Ristorante da Lorenza in Montecatini Terme on the main walking street was a favorite also.
Directions:
Paolo met us at Bar Marika at the bottom of the mountain and led us up to the villa. So helpful! After that it was easy but we still used GPS.
Check In Out:
It was all very easy.

Overall:
Overall the experience was very good!!
Enjoyed Most:
I liked that Paolo the owner was available if any issue arose. The villa was comfortable and lovely. The pool area was magnificent!!!! The views were spectacular!!!!
Enjoyed Least:
The drive up and down to the main road in a very large passenger van was a challenge. There is only room for one vehicle along this narrow road up to the villa. We did our best to arrive back to the villa each day before dark.
Surrounding Area:
We liked that most of the prominent towns were not too far to drive to. Example Siena, San Gimignano, Cinque Terre, etc. Taking the train to Florence was the best advice.
Directions:
We rented a GPS for the vehicle which was a disaster and a waste of money. We found that our iPhone Google Maps worked the best!! It provided the best directions for getting us to and from anywhere!!
Check In Out:
Check in/Check out process was seamless.

Overall:
It was a great family experience.
Enjoyed Most:
The location in the hills gave a great experience and view of the the villages.
Enjoyed Least:
I wasn't prepared for the logistics of the villa. Over thirty steps down to the villa and multiple levels within the villa. I had an injury in the airport so I had difficulty coming and going. However, the villa was laid out very well but just had a lot of steps.
Surrounding Area:
Access to other villages
Nearby Events or Locales:
Definately not walking distance, 4 to 6 miles.
Tips or Restaurants:
Yes, be in shape to handle the stairs because it was a real challenge. Also there was no American TV or could not use an American DVD... so that was a problem.
Directions:
We had the owner, Paolo, come get us and take us to the property. Also directions to and from the train station would be helpful
Check In Out:
Ambra was a blessing and truly made the experience great. She was available and worked through the issues day to day. Without her it could have been move difficult.

Overall:
Casale Terme exceeded our expectations in every way. The villa was extraordinarily beautiful. Built in the 18th century, is had been modernized with every convenience without losing its Tuscan charm. The owners and property manager were gracious and helpful. The views and property were spectacular!
Enjoyed Most:
The villa itself was beautifully appointed and spacious with lovely grounds on 4 levels and a large pool. The view of the valley below and the mountains beyond were breathtaking.
Enjoyed Least:
The drive to the villa up a winding, narrow, sometimes unpaved road is not for the faint of heart, especially after dark.
Surrounding Area:
The grounds, the view were stunning!
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest town was Monsummano Terme and only accessible by car down the mountain for about 3 miles.
Tips or Restaurants:
The owners were kind enough to provide up with food staples like cereal and bread as well as fresh fruit and several sandwiches on our arrival. I would however recommend stopping at Conad or Coop, the local large markets in town, for supplies. We most enjoyed the restaurants in nearby Montecatini Terme and Montecatini Alto. We would highly recommend not renting a large car the road up to the villa is narrow.
Check In Out:
Both the property manager and owners were available at check in and check out. They could not have been more helpful and welcoming. Be prepared to pay electrical charges at the end of your stay, which is standard in Italy.

Sandra, July

Overall:
Casale terme was a beautiful property set in the mountains of Tuscany. The property was located in a central location and we were able to make day trips to Lucca, Pisa, Chianti, Florence, Via Reggio, Montecatini terme. All within 1 hour. The views and sunsets were spectacular and the house was immaculate. The house also has a beautiful pool and hot tub for relaxation after sightseeing.
Enjoyed Most:
So clean and the views. Central location. Wonderful supermarket located 10 minutes away.
Enjoyed Least:
The drive to the house could be harrowing with hairpin turns- tough to do at night- also some areas of the road were poorly paved making for a very bumpy ride.
Surrounding Area:
Lots to see and do.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montecatini terme. No you really need a car if you are staying here. The house is at the top of a mountain.
Tips or Restaurants:
Please make sure you check out the spas at Montecatini Terme- a hidden jewel. The house has a small washer for clothes however no dryer. You will need to dry the clothes on a clothes rack.
Directions:
We used Google maps and found the house ok.
Check In Out:
Anna the owner was lovely. She keeps an immaculate home and provided some groceries and fruits for us on arrival which was so thoughtful. However, she speaks limited English.
