Customer Reviews

Overall:
Wonderful! We had a group of 15, and everyone agrees that this villa and hostess are superior. We were there two weeks, and each day was better than the one before. Delicious meals, beautiful accommodations, and picturesque property. The villa was taken care of well, and we interacted with Laura, her sister, brother, husband, and mother. All lovely people.
Enjoyed Most:
The rolling landscape, the flowers, the way everything joined together--the cottages with the main house. The bedrooms were beautifully appointed and far enough apart that we all had privacy. The pool area was lovely. We spent a good amount of time in the outside pavillion.
Enjoyed Least:
Can't think of anything
Surrounding Area:
Anghiari is a charming and accessible village. Access to other cities was easy. We visited Sansepulcro, Arezzo, Florence, Assisi, Pisa, Cortona, Siena, and more. The train station in Arezzo wasn't far by car, and we used it several times.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Anghiari. Several people in our group walked to town.
Tips or Restaurants:
All of the rooms are equipped with blow dryers, so don't worry about packing one. If you like wash clothes, I would take a couple. Da Alighiero is a jewel of a restaurant in Anghiari. We went back for more and got to know the owner and chef, Silvia.
Directions:
Yes, we had a GPS on which we relied much of the time.
Check In Out:
It was all good!!!! Thanks you.

Overall:
Laura, our host, was wonderful.
Enjoyed Most:
The pool area was fantastic. It was starting to get cool, but we managed to still swim in the pool and enjoyed being up there in the sunshine. Also, everyone's privacy in their rooms was appreciated.
Enjoyed Least:
It was very dark inside - I realise that this is traditional but I did find it quite bleak to be inside... although in the evening, it had a wonderful atmosphere.
Surrounding Area:
Anghiari is an amazing village - so, so beautiful and we really enjoyed walking through it most days. Also, the local coffee shop at Tavernelle, we loved to go early for a coffee and say good morning to the locals. The coffee was excellent. A really great treasure - would love to journey back through this area at some point in my life... It is very close to alot of other major cities, we all went to Cortona one day, a few of our friends went to Siena for the day and another family went to Florence for the day. It was a great location from that point of view.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Tavernelle was the closest and although we walked it each morning, the road to it was quite dangerous as there wasn't a sidewalk.... Italian drivers, ... need I say more!? But we are coffee addicts and so we managed each day!!!
Tips or Restaurants:
Laura was great at providing everything, we only needed directions to the local supermarket which she gave. Good restaurants, we found eating local was wonderful, one night we ordered take away pizza and brought that home, it was super pizza and delicious. It was ALL good.

Overall:
Villa Girasole was wonderful. The ground and buildings are absolutely beautiful. Apparently Villa Girasole over its long history went from a Monastery to a Tobacco farm and is now a Villa. We went in early July and the country side was warm/hot during the day and cool at night. Which enabled us to use the pool often during the day. The pool was a good size. And then at night it was cool enough not to use the air conditioning although it does have air conditioning if needed. The cool breeze came over the mountain and came right through the house making for great sleeping conditions. Having one building with one bedroom and then another building with two bedrooms with the remaining bedrooms in the main house worked out perfectly for our group. Laura (the owner) was there when needed to make sure everything was taken care of.
Surrounding Area:
The Villa was wonderful but I also have to mention the area around the Villa as well. The town of Anghiari is a 5 minutes drive away. We had made a wrong turn trying to find the Villa and came down a road right next to Angihari and everyone in both vans jaws dropped. It is something to see sitting on top of a hill with its 50 foot walls protecting the city. There is an elevator at the bottom of the wall that takes you up to the sightseeing terrace at the top of the wall which looks out over the valley. There is parking at the bottom of the wall which made for easy access. Walking the street of Anghiari was something out of a dream.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Angihari (30 min walk, 5 min Drive). Other places we visited from the Villa were La Verna (40 minutes) which is where Saint Francis of Assisi experienced the stigmata. It is an amazing Monastery at the top of Mount Penna. The views and grounds are something to behold. We also had lunch and tasted local olive oil at Ravagni (10 minutes) where Francesco and his Family make everything from the heart. We traveled to Arezzo (30 minutes) for the antique festival. Arezzo is where the movie Life is Beautiful was filmed so you can image the beauty there. We traveled to Montalcino for wine tasting which was a little further away (1 12 hours) but we were set on Brunello wine. Montepulciano with its wonderful wine which we did not visit is about one hour away.
Tips or Restaurants:
We also had two wonderful dinners at Da Alighiero where Sylvia and Gianni create a great eating experience. The Italians do it right with smaller portions so you can have two or three courses and not feel stuffed. The green pasta with ricotta and sauteed spinach was amazing. Followed by a small Filet Mignon cooked with olive oil which was out of this world.

Overall:
We have stayed in many properties in Tuscany, and this equaled or rivaled our prior stays. Laura, the hostess, was fantastic, always available, but never intrusive in our spaces. Her meals were exquisite--thank you, Laura.
Enjoyed Most:
We had plenty of space for everybody, no one felt crowded.
Surrounding Area:
Tuscany, how beautiful!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Anghiari was amazing, but it rained before we got there so the trail was very muddy. We went back many times, but by car.
