Customer Reviews

Overall:
Our overall experience was magical! RentVillas.com offered outstanding customer service. Each player in the experience was professional, on time and beyond welcoming. Destiny from RentVillas was always on top of all aspects of our requirements. Patricia who picked us up at the airport was punctual and beyond personable. Her boss Fabio was also very on top of things. We requested Patricia several times to drive us to Pompeii and Sorrento along with Naples. Patricia added to our fantastic experience. Giovanni and Rita the owners of the villa welcomed us like we were family. Philamina the key holder and Salvatore who carried our luggage up 104 steps were both delightful and amazing to deal with. Antonietta, who was our villa contact, was always available and helpful. There was not one aspect of our Positano stay that we did not LOVE!
Enjoyed Most:
The view the owners and the amazing location. Property was immaculately clean. It was like being home!
Enjoyed Least:
There was nothing to not like! Ok, so the 104 steps were not the most fun, but the exercise was fantastic. We could eat as much as we wanted and not gain an ounce. That was a huge plus!!!!
Surrounding Area:
The restaurants, shopping, beach, ferries, markets and pharmacy were all inviting and convenient. We travel a great deal and I must say Positano was the most beautiful, breathtaking place I have been to.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We stayed in Positiano. Nothing outside of that was in walking distance. The ferries made traveling very convenient. Went to Capri, Amalfi, Ravello, Sorento, Salerno!
Tips or Restaurants:
Things to bring: bathing bar soap, umbrella, rain jacket, shoes that you can walk for miles in. Restaurants Baca Di Bucco, Di Vencenza, Il Fiornillo, Chez Black
Directions:
Always hire a driver to take you to the property. Much easier!
Check In Out:
RentVillas did an outstanding job. Philaminia was punctual as was Salvatore. Overall FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE!

Charles, October

Overall:
A wonderful experience!
Enjoyed Most:
The view.
Enjoyed Least:
Small showers.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Positano. You could walk to almost everywhere!
Tips or Restaurants:
Come prepared to relax and enjoy!
Directions:
It would have helpful to know, in advance, that the property was up from Via Pasitea and down from Marconi and that Via del Canovaccio connected the two.
Check In Out:
We truly appreciated the efficiency of the process once we arrived.

Robert, May

Overall:
A comfortable, relaxing week, with gorgeous views of the water and graceful accommodations.
Enjoyed Most:
Terrace. View. Tiled floors everyplace. Cool rooms (never even turned on AC, in 75+ degree weather) and pleasant interior design. Comfortable bed and living room furniture. Two charming and functional baths. Washing machine. Having to walk and climb steps every day. Landlords nearby, friendly and helpful.
Enjoyed Least:
Smallish kitchen. Artificial flowers. Steps made carrying a lot of luggage in and out a challenge. Noisy machinery nearby at night. Difficult walking in Positano traffic, narrow streets. Town overrun with tourists, even in May, crowded, sundress and souvenir shops dominating downtown.
Surrounding Area:
Excellent restaurants with beautiful views. Friendly people in markets. Gorgeous views. Beach.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Positano. Yes. Lots of steps, but we were prepared for this.
Directions:
We had no trouble finding the property. Used a car service from Naples airport.
Check In Out:
Filomena was very nice and full of good information when she arrived, and she was also very accommodating re departure.

Daniel, May

Overall:
A quiet, relaxing location with a spectacular view. A very "homey" feeling to the property.
Enjoyed Most:
The balcony with table, chairs and lounge chairs, along with the fantastic view.
Enjoyed Least:
Better knives.
Surrounding Area:
The location of nearby fantastic restaurants. The beauty of the area.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Positano, and yes, it was within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Saraceno de Oro was our favorite restaurant. The waiters were friendly and engaging. The food was excellent and priced reasonably. Bring a sharp knife for the kitchen.
Check In Out:
We were accommodated with an earlier check in time and that was much appreciated.

Joan, October

Overall:
Comforting. Convenient.
Enjoyed Most:
The house is nicely decorated and fully furnished. Feels like home.
Enjoyed Least:
Too many steps to walk in and out of the property.
Surrounding Area:
Various views of the coast.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Walking up and down steps is as hard as walking in the narrow streets full of cars and scooters. Bus is the way to get to the next town.
Tips or Restaurants:
This property is well furnished. We didn't lack for anything. All restaurants serve good food. We ate at Cafe Positano twice because of the good food and view.
Check In Out:
Taxi dropped us off at the property first. We waited for a while before key holder's niece showed up. Some waiting, but not too bad. The niece showed up on time for check-out. Landlord lady even let us store the bags there until the afternoon. We really appreciated that.

Christina, September

Overall:
Good.
Enjoyed Most:
Loved the balcony and location. Size of apartment was great. Very well stocked. Loved having extra towels. And washing machines was fantastic.
Enjoyed Least:
It was tricky to light the stove; some burners wouldn't light. Dishwasher left a film on dishes and didn't drain properly.
Surrounding Area:
Positano is lovely. Views were great. Balcony with lounges, plants, table, etc was wonderful
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were in Positano but all other towns required transportation.
Directions:
Used GPS

Ann, June

Overall:
For my first visit to Italy, staying at Baleno was like becoming part of the culture.
Enjoyed Most:
The view from the terrace was amazing.
Enjoyed Least:
There was nothing I did not like, even the stairs.
Surrounding Area:
I enjoyed being able to walk everywhere: market, restaurants, shops and beach
Nearby Events or Locales:
Positano and yes, it's within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
The place had everything. There is a pizza place at the top of stairs and a restaurant at the bottom of the stairs.
Directions:
I would never have found the place. I was picked up at the airport and that suited me. If you were wanting a car I believe parking may have been an issue.
Check In Out:
Was very pleasant.

Louise, May

Overall:
We are so glad we stayed here. The entire time was magical. The view is excellent and everything is very easy to find close by. My favorite part was how friendly the people were. We can't wait to go again.
Enjoyed Most:
We just got back and I'm looking at my suitcase like we could have stayed there forever.
Enjoyed Least:
We were unaware of necessities required like laundry soap, toilet paper, etc.
Surrounding Area:
The friendly people and the atmosphere of walking around the Amalfi coast.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The first restaurant is just below our flight of stairs and the market right past the second set. Be ready to be on a Stairmaster.
Tips or Restaurants:
Go to the hotel at the bottom of our flight of stairs and talk to the staff (Hotel Positano). Tony directed us to an awesome time at "Mama's", an exquisite Italian cuisine experience with all the food grown on site.
Directions:
Use the car service. Otherwise read the signs quickly because the driving there is nuts compared to Boston.
Check In Out:
They were very good. Was a bummer we had to pay 35 Euros for a porch door key that snapped off in the lock.

Amie, July

Overall:
When we arrived at Baleno the property and view exceeded our expectations immediately. The contact lady was very helpful and the apartment was stocked with enough food to help us through the first couple days. We loved coming back for a siesta and to enjoy the view before going out for dinner. I would highly recommend this property for anyone looking to enjoy one of the most beautiful places in the world.
Enjoyed Most:
The location, proximity to all amenities was great.
Enjoyed Least:
Some nighttime noise, but definetly no big deal.
Surrounding Area:
The neighbouring towns were a great destination for a day on a scooter to enjoy even more terrific views.
Nearby Events or Locales:
No, but there are lots of small villages a scooter ride away or a ferry ride
Tips or Restaurants:
From the apartment take the steps up to the road and there is a restaurant just to the left, 20 feet away. It was amazing homemade everything at very good prices. We ate there twice, apps, main course, desert, coffees, and wine for about 50 euros for 2 of us.

Barry, June

Overall:
What a fabulous place to stay in Positano. They leave food and wine for you. The view is breathtaking. The house is comfortable and peaceful.
Enjoyed Most:
View, view, view.
Enjoyed Least:
Stairs--but by the time we got back to America, no stairs were a problem!
Surrounding Area:
Views, restaurants, and shopping
Nearby Events or Locales:
Amalfi and Revello; you can take a water taxi or bus to Amalfi and another bus up to Revello.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring comfortable shoes or buy a pair of good Italian shoes. Trattoria La Tagliata is on the walkway from the big beach to the small beach. It has a wonderful view and great wood fired pizza. Trattoria La Tagliata is way up on top of the mountain from Positano. They will send a small bus to pick you up. It is a family run organic farm with great food and wine. The views were like looking out of a plane.
Directions:
If you have heavy bags, reserve a porter which costs 7 to 8 Euros per bag depending on size. YOU DON'T WANT TO LUG a 50 lb BAG UP 104 STEPS! There are local markets within walking distance to buy more wine, fruit, pasta, vegetables, meat, etc.
Check In Out:
Check in and out were quick and efficient. My 200 Euro security deposit was promptly returned on check out.

George, June

Overall:
Fabulous! It was clean, spacious, and nicely furnished with incredible views.
Enjoyed Most:
The view and the huge, beautiful terrace.
Enjoyed Least:
If I have to pick something, I would have to say the stairs, but they actually added to the charm and got us in better physical condition.
Surrounding Area:
The walk to town was very easy along the road and the view was great all the way down. Great access to restaurants and shopping.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Positano - where the appartment was located. It was very easy to walk to the center of town.
Tips or Restaurants:
No need to bring anything, not even a hair dryer. Don't miss getting the free ride way up the hill to La Tagliata for dinner - food and views to die for!
Directions:
The directions were perfect. We did not use GPS.
Check In Out:
Check in/check out processes were timely and flawless - couldn't have gone more smoothly. We had a driver coming to pick us up - all was coordinated perfectly with checkout, baggage porter, and the driver!

Jo Anne, June

Overall:
First time there and loved it. Everything was great.
Enjoyed Most:
The terrace and the view.
Enjoyed Least:
The beds were firmer than we would have preferred. There are quite a few steps, but we got used to them.
Surrounding Area:
The fact that the center of Positano is within walking distance and Baleno is away from the crowd and noise. Like living in your own neighborhood. People are very nice and helpful.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Positano was within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring some snacks you particularly like just in case. I took some spices and a small bag of coffee. Check with your Travel Advisor, as she learns from previous renters of the property.
Directions:
We had a driver from Naples to Positano.
Check In Out:
Was quick and easy.

Karen, May

Overall:
Fantastic. The owners were very nice and very helpful. We were surprised at the steps. From the road up we counted 68 steps - and even in our "semi-unfit" condition we had no problems. I can't think of one word that describes how wonderful it was.
Enjoyed Most:
The privacy, the sounds, watching the town wake up and go to sleep. Wonderful kitchen, easy walk to grocery, and of course, the fabulous patio. We woke up to coffee on the patio and went to bed with wine on the patio. We didn't use the living room at all. We spent all our time on the patio just watching the town.
Enjoyed Least:
The steps of course. The bed in the single bedroom has the hardest mattress I've ever slept on. The fold-out couch is not comfortable at all when folded out. Bars and springs get you in all the wrong places. Otherwise we loved it all and hope to go back next year. Maybe mattresses will be better!
Surrounding Area:
We appreciate the quiet and interesting but lazy lifestyle. We found our part of Positano was just that. We shy away from the crowded shops, but we did enjoy our shopping trips and then coming back to our wonderful, quiet patio. There seems to be a contrast between two parts of the town. We liked the walk or bus ride to the main downtown.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We're not hikers. We took the bus to Nocelle (sp). We did a day on boat from Positano to Salerno to Amalfi and back to Positano by bus.
Tips or Restaurants:
Clothing to fit the season naturally. Good walking shoes. I was surprised to see so many tourist in spike heels. I brought some spices I use frequently, some coffee, some tea bags and some munchies. The grocery is close. Locals showed us how to eat the lemons, and the large oranges are outrageous. Don't miss these 2 fruits. Take advantage of the take-away opportunities - buy your sandwich or whatever and eat it at a table outside. Seems all the restaurants we ate at were great. If ordering steak we discovered that most restaurants cook it rare in some form even if you ask for medium. We liked Il Fornillo the best. We ate in and also got take out there. Good pizza.
Directions:
Can't really comment on that because we had a driver from and back to Naples. We didn't have to find anything. I think the location of the bus stop is a primary look-for point.
Check In Out:
Super smooth and super easy. Barbara had arranged for porters to help with the luggage as we had 2 unexpected injuries the week before we left.

Karen, May

Overall:
Great experience in a lovely villa.
Enjoyed Most:
The patio overlooking Positano.
Enjoyed Least:
All the steps!
Surrounding Area:
Walking to everything we needed and the beauty of the area.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Yes - property was in Positano.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring comfortable shoes and light luggage!
Directions:
Used our GPS - stairway address was in it.

Patty, September

Overall:
The apartment was everything as described beforehand. Two bathrooms were great even for just the two of us. Everything was spotless when we arrived and our greeter was very knowledgeable and set us up with everything we needed. The food and wine left for us were fabulous and very generous, as well.
Enjoyed Most:
The view and the terrace. Also, loved both bathrooms and lots of closet space.
Enjoyed Least:
The 124 steps were awful. Also, there was a strong smell of gasoline every day mid-way up the steps which made the hike even worse.
Surrounding Area:
The surrounding restaurants were great. We also used the pool at the Hotel Royal almost every day through an arrangement we made with them.
Tips or Restaurants:
The ones higher up on the hill are better than the more touristy ones below.
Directions:
Taxi sent via RentVillas knew exactly where to go.

David, August

Overall:
Great views from this villa. Overall experience was very good.
Enjoyed Most:
Views!! A nice surprise was arriving to find the kitchen was fully stocked--not just with essentials but pasta, red and white wine, olives, cheese, milk, bread, cereal...and more!
Enjoyed Least:
We were anticipating 67 steep steps down to this property, when in fact coming down from the road above was 170 steps and coming up from the area below (with shops and restaurants) was over 200. The TV is small and does not have English-language channels.
Surrounding Area:
The setting was beautiful.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Steps, steps, steps.
Tips or Restaurants:
At the top of the 167 steps is a restaurant called Cera de Votre. Doesn't look like much but we picked up a pizza from them one night and went back for dinner the next. Very good!

Ed, May

Overall:
Working with the staff at RentVillas.com was a wonderful experience. From the initial planning to our arrival, staff were overall accommodating and extremely helpful.
Enjoyed Most:
The property was small, intimate and very homey. Great views!
Enjoyed Least:
Small bathrooms and lighting was poor.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Positano. Yes, it's within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Travel lightly and have a porter meet you at the property to assist with carrying luggage up the 104 steps to the villa! All restaurants in the area were excellent!

Maureen, April

Overall:
Excellent.
Enjoyed Most:
The terrace.
Enjoyed Least:
The living room, or lack thereof.
Surrounding Area:
Beach, walking everywhere, local people were very friendly. Took a bus to Nocelle and hiked down to Positano. Ferry service was great.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Numerous, but you have to walk alongside the road and it's alittle dangerous. Having said that we did walk to Nocelle, Conca dei Marini, Ravello, and to Amalfi.
Tips or Restaurants:
Realize there are steps to get anywhere and just wear comfortable shoes and pace yourself. Enjoy a gelato a day to replace the calories you burn. La Pergola--clean, fresh, not overpriced. You can get anything from a 7 Euro pizza to a 30 Euro meal. Tip: to avoid a table surcharge, grab a pizza and sit at a table just outside the restaurant. Great view and casual.
Directions:
Directions on arriving by bus were vague. On the positive side, the local rep picked us up in her car and drove us to the property.

Dino, April

Overall:
Overall, Positano and the Amalfi Coast were excellent. Such a rich culture and friendly people, all looking to make your visit the best possible. You do need to be a person who doesn't mind walking and climbing stairs. My sister and I lost count of the number of stairs...but suffice it to say, that our leg muscles are much stronger than when we arrived!
Enjoyed Most:
The view! It was incredible. The property was ready for us to sink right in...and having food available on our arrival was great!
Enjoyed Least:
The shower heads were not working properly. We notified our local agent, however, the problem was not resolved before we left. The mattress was too firm, but the ambiance of the room and waking to look out over the Mediterrean certainly counterbalanced the discomfort. Editor's Note: The shower heads have been replaced. November 2011.
Surrounding Area:
My sister and I were able to go to many of the surrounding towns....Amalfi, Ravello, Salerno, Pompeii, Sorrento, Capri and AnaCapri. We also enjoyed Rome very much!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Positano was the town where we were residing...yes, the town center was within walking distance. The next closest town was Amalfi, and no...you needed another means of transportation to get there.
Tips or Restaurants:
Make sure to bring your sense of humor when climbing those stairs to the residence. WE of course figured out quickly about getting off at the Chesa Nuovo bus stop...the closest stop, and the walk is down the steps...not up! Plan your excursions and the load that you might be bringing back up the steps. We loved Black's Ristorante at the shoreline in the center of town and highly recommend it for both the food and the location for watching the sunset. There is a bit of a problem with ants in the area...so beware about leaving anything out that draws them in.
Directions:
We used a limousine service for pickup from Naples and back. Nino Persico was great and we highly recommend his services. He also personally knew the local agent and that made the transition into the rental that much smoother. He did all the conversing with her.

Cindy, October

Overall:
The property was great.
Enjoyed Most:
View and quiet and the clothes line. They could add one more line across. That would be very helpful.
Enjoyed Least:
We were met by the owner who did not speak English. This was challenging because we needed someone to show us how to use the oven. Also, the garbage info would have been helpful to have. We used the kitchen every day as we love to cook and eat in. More info in English about the kitchen appliances would have been very helpful. Editor's Note: Because the client waited to call the local agent upon arrival, rather than call an hour before as requested, the agent was not at the house waiting for them. They speak English and provide instructions in English for the appliances, as well as a House Book.
Surrounding Area:
We loved Positano and once we figured out the bus system, everything transit-wise worked great for us. We saw no need to have a rental car there.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We walked a lot. We walked from Ravello down to Amafi. I would highly recommend making the bus trip to Montepertuso and Nocelle. We walked from Nocelle to Positano and loved it.
Tips or Restaurants:
We enjoyed the mom and pop grocery stores. We shopped for fresh food every day and very much enjoyed that.

Char, August

Overall:
Fantastic spot--the villa made an excellent home base for exploring the Amalfi coast. We liked Positano so much we ended up spending about 3 of the 7 days of our trip IN Positano. We loved experimenting with the local foods, produce, and wines!
Enjoyed Most:
The cleanliness, view, and patio. Also, the villa had all the amenities we required, right down to beach towels and a sewing kit.
Enjoyed Least:
Absolutely NO complaints. Only suggestion might be that it would be great if there were some kind of grill or barbeque to cook up the fresh fish or maybe grilled eggplant!
Surrounding Area:
Positano is a fantastic place to stay. LOTS of stairs so you should be fairly in-shape to stay at this villa but we actually liked the stairs because we could eat whatever we wanted while we were there and work it off later! Also, the stairs gave it a unique charm that added to the entire experience.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Positano.
Tips or Restaurants:
Ask the person who greets you about how to work the appliances, where to catch the bus, what the best way to get from place to place is. Look in the drawers and cupboards for extra towels, pillows etc. The restaurants closest to the villa were our favorites: the pizzeria up at the top of the steps and the Mediterranean, down the steps were great! Buy groceries at smaller market shops close to the villa. We tried to do the week without a cell phone or Internet--not such a great idea as it would have been nice to check weather, restaurants, schedules etc while we were there. There is no phone to use at the villa so make sure your cell works in Italy before you go. When you get there, walk down to the beach!
Directions:
We flew into Rome, train to Napoli, and hired a driver to pick us up in Napoli and drop us off at the villa steps. This all went very smoothly. The staff at RentVillas can help and give some advice etc about the travel plan.

Julie, June

Overall:
The area of Positano was the perfect spot to start your day to tour other towns. Positano is great and the people of the town made the experience even better.
Enjoyed Most:
The property was ideal for two people. Quiet and great views with all the amenities we needed.
Enjoyed Least:
The only negative is the beds.
Surrounding Area:
All the other towns were close and easy to get to by bus.
Tips or Restaurants:
Pack an umbrella and comfortable walking shoes. Chez Black, II Sacaceno D'Oro and the Mediterranean were are favorites in Positan.o

Alan, March

Overall:
The apartment was perfect for our needs. It was small, but very comfortable and relaxing. We enjoyed our week there tremendously.
Enjoyed Most:
The view from the balcony was outstanding. For that matter, we had much the same view from the bedroom when we woke up in the mornings.
Enjoyed Least:
The steps. Every review talked about them before we booked, and they weren't kidding. It made for a rough trip up each evening, but I was in better shape at the end of the week.
Surrounding Area:
The local restaurants were convenient and very good. The walk down to the center of town was peaceful and an enjoyable way to get a feel for the Italian pace of life.
Tips or Restaurants:
Limoncello is everywhere, and it is very good. We ate at Il Fornillo several times, and thought it was delicious.
Directions:
We made it there with only one misstep. But there were many times, we wondered if we were lost. GPS would be recommended.
Check In Out:
No issues at all.

Jay, October

Overall:
Super. The view and location were beyond expectation.
Enjoyed Most:
View and the high speed Internet.
Enjoyed Least:
The steps!
Surrounding Area:
Taking a boat around the coast and to one of the secluded beaches.
Tips or Restaurants:
Everyone recommends Saraceno d' Oro which had OK food but TERRIBLE music, so if that's important for you skip it. The Mediterranean was better. The Dolceria Porto in Amalfi had the best pastries and coffee. La Tagliata was a worthwhile experience. The first course especially was amazing.
Directions:
Using a car service was worth it.

hugh, September

Overall:
Overall experience was good. The apartment is very cute and is well stocked. Would have liked to have been a little closer to Positano proper, but the area we were in, Fornillo, was quaint and just as picturesque.
Enjoyed Most:
The kitchen was great. Can't think of a single thing that is lacking. We could have cooked almost anything there although we did not get around to any cooking as we mostly ate out except for breakfast.
Enjoyed Least:
We did not care for the bed or the bathrooms. The bed and pillows do need to be replaced as they are very hard. Although it was nice to have two, the shower in the bathrooms was very small, and we are not large people. Lighting was also very bad in the bathroom off the bedroom.
Surrounding Area:
This is a nice, safe area. We had no complaints about the area.
Tips or Restaurants:
You should bring your own pillowcases, and pillows too if you have room.

Erin, October

Overall:
Very good experience overall. The pictures on the web site were very representative. Positano is very picturesque and the atmosphere is very charming.
Enjoyed Most:
The location, the space, the kitchen, the convenience of being able to cook your own meals. The view of the Mediterranean from the balcony is spectacular. The 104-step climb to the front door provided us with the opportunity to exercise every day which was an added bonus.
Enjoyed Least:
The neighbourhood barking dogs at all hours of the day and night. The property was far from the beach.
Surrounding Area:
The surrounding area did not feel "touristy". We actually felt like locals taking our daily walks down to the beach, going to the grocery store, butcher shop, fruit stand and just browsing the shops. It was quite enjoyable.
Tips or Restaurants:
If you intend to cook your own meals, a cookbook, measuring cup and spoons, spices and a whisk would be very useful. We took a day trip to Capri and would highly recommend eating at "Da Gemma". We had the best pizza during our three-week stay in Italy.
Directions:
Not applicable as we had a driver pick us up at the Naples train station.
Check In Out:
Teresa met us when we arrived. She gave us a tour of the villa, provided instructions for all the appliances, recommended some restaurants, etc.

Marc, September

Overall:
The most wonderful vacation in Europe my husband and daughter and I have ever had.
Enjoyed Most:
The beautiful scenery and breathtaking views. Hospitality of the property owner, and Antoinetta, the Rentvillas representative were incredible. Airlines lost our luggage and they ran to our immediate rescue and helped us retrieve our luggage, gave us extra wine, food, items, etc and even telephoned and spoke to the airline representatives in Italian for us!!
Enjoyed Least:
What's not to like? Everything was wonderful.
Surrounding Area:
The beach, hiking up and down the stairs got us really in shape while we were there. The markets were full of fresh veggies and fruits and the town people made us all feel welcome. The owner-manager of the little wine shop in town, Vino Rossi, was so accommodating and educational. Great wine at very inexpensive prices.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Not within walking distance at all. Not safe to walk as a pedestrian around the cliffs to get to other villages.
Tips or Restaurants:
Max Restaurant was absolutely tremendous. A wonderful meal, outstanding service, and a great wine list. Bring good walking shoes and be prepared to carry your luggage up and down over a hundred flight of stairs one way!
Directions:
Had someone pick us up at Naples train station.

Rena, June

Overall:
Excellent!
Enjoyed Most:
The location, Positano. Well equipped kitchen. Neat apartment.
Enjoyed Least:
The 104 steps. Since I am 5', the steps were difficult. But I managed to overcome this problem by taking the Positano bus and go down the steps. A general comment, it seems that in the 3 properties I rented, there was never a decent knife - important when you cook. I now have a chef knife that will travel with me.
Surrounding Area:
The waterfront, the town of Positano, charming,
Nearby Events or Locales:
Positano. It was within walking distance. About 20 min. to the beach.
Tips or Restaurants:
A GOOD KNIFE.
Directions:
We received directions from your part, excellent. We did use a GPS during our trip but not to get to Positano.

Lucie, October

Overall:
We love this Villa. This was our second time there and we can hardly wait to go there again. We really enjoy the fact that we can drink all the wine we want and enjoy the wonderful Italian food because we have to climb 104 stairs at least once each day.
Enjoyed Most:
We liked everything about it. I was spotless, it has an amazing view. Even if it was raining you could still sit out on the covered deck and enjoy the view. Very comfortable and completely outfitted.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing.
Surrounding Area:
The Amalfi coast is so amazingly beautiful. You can't get enough of it.
Nearby Events or Locales:
You cannot walk to the next town.
Tips or Restaurants:
This Villa is so well set up that you don't have to take anything extra. We enjoyed all the restaurants we went to just down the hill from the Villa. We can only say positive things and we can hardly wait to go back..for the third time.
Directions:
We had a driver pick us up in Naples so we did not have a car in Positano.
Check In Out:
Everything was perfect.

Greg, September

Overall:
The overall experience was wonderful. The apartment was big, clean, and well-equipped. The view was amazing, and it was nice to be above the center of town and live like a local for a week.
Enjoyed Most:
The view.
Enjoyed Least:
The bed. Despite all the positives - and there are many - the bed and pillows need to be upgraded. The bed is two twin beds which seemed old - pushed together, and the pillows were uncomfortable.
Surrounding Area:
Everything. Positano is a wonderful place.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Positano is about 15 minute walk down the main road. We did it every morning with no problems. You might want to take the bus back, though, because of the steep roads.
Tips or Restaurants:
This is a great place to stay for two people - I wouldn't recommend it for families, though.
Check In Out:
I would take a car to and from Positano. If coming from Rome, hire a car even though it costs a little more. The coming and going at the train station in Rome and Naples can be a bit much, particularly if you have a lot of luggage.

Overall:
Each person at Rentvillas was extremely professional, helpful and just plain fun to work with. What a positive experience! I have already recommended Rentvillas to several others interested in renting in Europe. Thank you for not only "just doing your job", but ensuring a "memorable vacation!"
Enjoyed Most:
Absolutely incredible view! Loved the terrace and the kitchen. I couldn't' believe there were so many books to borrow. I think I left some of mine for other eager readers.
Enjoyed Least:
The first day the least favorite things were the 104 steps. Ant issue throughout the week. Ran out of limoncello one day and I thought we would die. Noisy at night 12:30am. Last day we decided we didn't like hauling pregnant luggage down 104 steps.
Surrounding Area:
Absolutely stunning views. As we walked through town, people that we saw working in the different shops started talking to us like we were locals. LIMONCELLO!!! Loved the close proximity to other towns Amalfi, Ravello thank God for the scooters!
Nearby Events or Locales:
We walked through Positano every day. Took the ferry to Capri, then rented a scooter to explore both Capri and Anacapri. Rented a scooter in Positano to go to Amalfi and Ravello, then ventured on to Sorrento. We even drove to Pompeii for the day.
Tips or Restaurants:
The Golden Saracen was excellent. Be sure to bring a hat, cap or something for shade. Don't forget sunscreen. Oh, and euros...need to bring plenty!

Laura, July

Overall:
The villa was nice, clean, and very well stocked with food. We did not mind the steps and we are both in our 60's, but this would not be a good choice for someone who is not fit.
Enjoyed Most:
Two bathrooms and the well stocked kitchen.
Enjoyed Least:
The owner was renovating the apartment downstairs from us and there was sawing and banging going on while we were at home, between touring and going out to dinner. The bed - but this is Italy.
Surrounding Area:
This is one of the most beautiful areas that I have ever seen. I loved Ravello and Villa Cimbrone. Don't miss the walk up to Villa Jovis built by Tiberius atop Mt. Tiberio in Capri and the Gardens of Augustus in Capri. Also, don't miss going to Pompeii
Nearby Events or Locales:
It takes about 20 minutes to walk down to Positano.
Tips or Restaurants:
May is a perfect time to be here. The weather was around 75 degrees and sunny for the entire week. Everything was in bloom the the smell of jasmine and pittosporum was in the air. There were no insects except for a few flies. It wasn't too crowded. You don't have to bring anything except a travel alarm. Donna Rosa was the very best of the restaurants that we visited. They no longer pick people up but taking the bus up to Montepertuso was easy. We also liked Il Fornilllo - friendly with good food, Chez Black, La Cambusa, and da Vincenzo. You don't need a car here. We had lots of fun taking buses and ferries. You will do lots of walking so bring good shoes if you want to get off the beaten track. You can get BBC news on the Satellite TV and Voice of America.
Directions:
We were picked up in Naples by Fabio and transferred to Patricia after going to Pompeii. This service is well worth it except we had to carry our bags up the steps. Teresa helped me with my bag.

John G., May

Overall:
The person who met us was wonderful, and her boyfriend carried our big bag up the stairs.
Enjoyed Most:
The view from the terrace.
Enjoyed Least:
104 Steps.
Surrounding Area:
Sorrento was awesome
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring CDs, cards, or board games. The TV is in Italian

Mary Judith Judi, November

Overall:
Fantastic way to experience Positano and feel like a local.
Enjoyed Most:
We loved the kitchen; it was large and easy to use with everything you could wish for. We were able to cook meals and relax in the comfort of our own space.
Enjoyed Least:
There really wasn't anything not to like. If I had to say something it would be the hard pillows.
Surrounding Area:
I loved that we were a little out of the main town as there were great restaurants very close by and they weren't nearly as busy or expensive as the ones in town.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Positano was within walking distance; however, we only walked back once as it was all uphill. The internal Positano bus was fantastic at 2 euros a trip. We used it all the time.
Tips or Restaurants:
You don't need to bring anything. We found a fantastic butcher on the road above the villa, we bought fantastic chicken schnitzels which were delicious and it wasn't expensive at all.. Also you have to try the local oranges. They are the most delicious oranges I have ever eaten.
Directions:
We were met by Fabio who took us directly to our villa, so it was great.

Elizabeth, October

Overall:
Highly recommend it. We will be returning.
Enjoyed Most:
Its beautiful view, the wonderful furnishings, and it was immaculate. The pictures do not do it justice. All of the fine details were noticed and appreciated. Kitchen very well appointed. A truly wonderful place to stay. The fresh basil on the patio was a treat. The two bathrooms were modern and beautiful. The chandeliers were beautiful.
Enjoyed Least:
Everything was wonderful.
Surrounding Area:
Fornillo Beach, the small grocery stores, the many restaurants and shops. All of the scenery is really breathtaking, and the people were very friendly. The little grocery store at the bottom of the second set of steps has everything you need. Make sure you learn about the elevator to Fornillo Beach through Pupeto Hotel before you attempt the 450 stairs.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We walked into Positano daily - a 15 minute walk with much to see along the way. We took the Interno Fermata to return, since it was all uphill. The daily bus ride was a treat - the views spectacular.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring a small flashlight. The room had one, but we find it helpful if each person has one at night, especially on the stairs. Our favorite restaurants were Lo Guarracino and Sarceno d'Oro. Please note you do not need a car. You can walk, take the bus, take the ferry. It is very easy to get around and we enjoyed not having the hassle of driving.
Directions:
We had a driver who called ahead.
Check In Out:
Timely and efficient.

Brian, October

Overall:
The apartment was nice, but close proximity to Positano was lacking. I would stay closer to the main town next time.
Enjoyed Most:
The balcony.
Enjoyed Least:
The barking dogs, crowing roosters, and peel-your-skin-off shower.
Surrounding Area:
Spiaggia Fornillo
Nearby Events or Locales:
Positano was within walking distance.

Cullen, September

Enjoyed Most:
We loved the outdoor balcony where there was a table with 4 chairs in which to have a great meal in the evening and enjoy the view of the water. Also, the tile floors were a big plus as we all have allergies.
Enjoyed Least:
Everything was great. We really have no complaints about the property. Before arriving in Positano, we were hiking in the Dolomites and Cinque Terre. So, the steep stairs up to the villa were not a problem. However, I would think that the stairs could present a real challenge to someone not accustomed to the effort it takes to walk up and down them.
Surrounding Area:
We enjoyed our day trip to Pompeii and our trip to Amalfi by boat which enables you to see the entire coast. Upon arriving in Amalfi, we took the bus to Ravello which was very enjoyable. Also, for a good hike, the Sentiero degli Dei, Path of the Gods, is challenging, but offers great views from the ridge line.
Tips or Restaurants:
Baca de Beppo on the beach is a great place to order a pizza for take out. After paying for the pizza, you are sent over to the window where they make it right in front of you. The best part is that you can either eat it right there by the waterfront, or carry it back to the villa.
Directions:
We hired the driver, arranged for by Rentvillas, and so it was easy to get to the property.

Barbara, September

Enjoyed Most:
Location! Location! Location! The town of Positano is a jewel - it is wonderful. The property is located within a 20 min walk of the main town and a 10 min walk to excellent restaurants and the view of the sea is stupendous. The property was excellent - large clean well appointed rooms with two bathrooms - everything we needed.
Enjoyed Least:
Baleno is located on a very narrow pedestrian street and is a 104 stair, very steep climb up from the main street. This property is lovely - but its not for everyone. Anyone with a physical challenge would not enjoy this property.
Surrounding Area:
What can I say - it's the Amalfi Coast! Positano is picture-perfect. You are a boat ride away from lunch in Amalfi, Capri or Sorrento and day trips to Pompeii and Ravello. It is a perfect combination of beach, the Italian Dolce Vita and history.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest small town is Positano itself - a 20 min walk downhill, 35 min uphill. Local buses run every 30 minutes, taking you around Positano and connecting to adjoining towns. Hydrofoils and ferries are frequent and the fastest way to get to places further away.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring lots of sunscreen - it is HOT in the summer. Also, suggest very comfortable walking shoes as there are lots of stairs and lots of climbing. Positano is a vertical village! There is a fabulous Pizzeria just down the street from the Villa - Pizzeria Fornila - great food and service - reasonable prices. Menu is typical Neapolitan fare - pizza and spaghetti alle vongole.
Check In Out:
The owner's assistant was wonderful - he spoke excellent English and was very helpful and efficient.

Jacqueline, August

Overall:
We loved our stay at Baleno and hope to return soon. We had a porter take our bags up to the villa. It cost 20 Euros, but we couldn't have carried them ourselves without great difficulty,
Enjoyed Most:
The view was fantastic, and the villa very well supplied, attractive and comfortable. Lots of space for 3 women including the 2 bathrooms. Especially loved having a washing machine and clothesline.
Enjoyed Least:
104 steps and distance to beach, but neither was a substantial problem.
Surrounding Area:
Everything! Positano is delightful and busy with ferries and buses to all surrounding towns and activities. We enjoyed Ravello, Pompeii, Capri and a leisurely boat trip to swim and eat a fantastic beach lunch. Every day was a new discovery.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring fewer clothes than you think you need. Think beach - mostly casual. O'Caporale is near the beach and ferries and is delicious. We had no bad meals and spent less than we expected.

Barbara, July

Enjoyed Most:
Spectacular view from the terrace, being able to cook some meals, great breezes at night. Good kitchen. Great location. Positano is absolutely breathtaking! The best spot on the Amalfi coast to stay.
Enjoyed Least:
There was a bug problem. Thanks heavens there was insect spray available which eliminated the problem. Not everyone will be able to handle all the steps to get up to the apartment from town or the beach. I didn't mind the steps. It was a great workout if you want to keep in shape over your vacation and if you are fit. If you are not in shape don't go to Positano. The entire town is steps and inclines. At night, with the doors open for a breeze it can be a bit noisy. So if you are a light sleeper or have children you may have a problem. The property could use an alarm clock; there is no clock at all.
Surrounding Area:
The Fornillo beach was smaller than the main beach and the beach chairs were less expensive to rent. Quite a lot of steps but that's all part of the experience. The bus to other towns is a short walk uphill. From there you can go to Sorrento and take the train to Pompeii. It was very easy. The internal Positano bus stop is right at the foot of the steps from the apartment. You can always take that to the beach too.
Nearby Events or Locales:
To leave Positano you must take a bus or a boat. It's not a problem, but you must either walk up or take the internal Positano bus.
Tips or Restaurants:
All the restaurants are good, but can be quite expensive. Bring an extra suitcase so you can go shopping. Bring low heeled shoes, no high heels here. All you need is a 2 piece bathing suit, and a cute sundress to put over it during the day. That way you are always prepared to get in the water, wherever you are. The weather was quite hot the first few days but delightful after that. Take the 10:00 private boat trip along the coast to Amalfi. You get to Amalfi at 1:30, then it brings you back at 5:00pm. It was 50 Euros but worth every penny. There were only 6 people and he takes you to many small grottoes and you get to swim from the boat. It was a great experience. You can sign up at the main beach at the stand in the center.
Directions:
Hire a driver to pick you up from the airport in Naples. It's worth every penny. A young man met me at the property and carried my bag up the steps. I was bumped from my connection and delayed 4 hours so I got in later than planned. Buy a cell phone on the Internet for $49. You only pay for the calls you make and you keep the phone and can use it on another trip. Best deal around. It came in very handy when I had to call the driver about my delay and your family can reach you at anytime.

Elena, June

Overall:
We had a wonderful experience with this property.
Enjoyed Most:
The deck was a wonderful place to read and relax, eat breakfast, sunbathe, with amazing views and clear bright sunshine.
Enjoyed Least:
The steps, especially at night after a bottle of wine! And the roosters at 4:00am...
Surrounding Area:
The apartment is located close to some of the best restaurants in Positano, and to a sweet little grocery shop where we bought wine and cheese for lunch. The walk into town was easy and fun. Positano is a spot to fall in love again, and walking through the winding streets, stopping for gelato, and relaxing over a delicious meal were all a part of our daily activities. Day trips to Capri, Amalfi and Ravello are a nice change of pace and scenery. The ferry service is easy to use and gives you a great view of the coast.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The center of town is a 15 minute stroll down hill from the villa. It should be noted that the steps are not a part of that walk and that 104 steps take you only to the main street! There is a great bus that runs through Positano for 1 Euro every 1/2 hour that we took home every evening, right to the foot of the steps.
Tips or Restaurants:
Saraceno D'Oro is right near the apartment and our favorite restaurant. We could eat there every night! The apartment is very well equipped, and the kitchen is beautiful. We brought a corkscrew and some coffee. Good idea!

Peggy, June

Enjoyed Most:
The apartment was immaculate and very well equipped. The balcony certainly had the best seats in the house and the views were wonderful.
Enjoyed Least:
Just the shower heads. The bathrooms were great and there was good water pressure but a shower head spray attachment would provide a more relaxing shower.
Surrounding Area:
The town was exquisite, clean and safe, and the people were very friendly. We went to one restaurant that did not accept a credit card and the owner told us if we did not have cash which we did, we could come back the next day to settle the bill! We rented a boat for one day and went up the coast and to Capri - breathtaking views! We then went back down the coast to Amalfi. We were able to stop and swim in the sea, hop off the boat in Capri for lunch, and enjoy the magnificent coastal views from the water.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montepertuso. It was not within walking distance but the restaurant we went to Il Ritrovo sent a driver to pick us up and then bring us back again. Plenty of transportation options exist once you figure out the schedules for the buses and ferries. Renting a boat for the day was a real plus as we could travel to Capri, Amalfi, etc. on our own schedule.
Tips or Restaurants:
The apartment had everything you needed! Be prepared for the steps as they are everywhere. However, you can easily walk the streets to get to your destination which is little less strenuous. You can also take the bus. Fornillo Beach was beautiful and the beachfront restaurant was great, but be prepared to walk down and up about 400 steps to get there. An alternative route is to return via a beautiful route along the shore to the main beach. You can then either walk up or take the bus.

Diane, June

Enjoyed Most:
Everything was top-notch. Incredibly clean and well-appointed, especially the kitchen. I can't think of anything we would have wanted and didn't have available. The deck was great with a super view of Naples Bay, ferries coming and going etc. The chaise lounges were much appreciated.
Enjoyed Least:
Can't think of anything.
Surrounding Area:
Every second day we ventured out of Positano to visit surrounding towns villages. We took ferries from the Positano waterfront pretty much everywhere we went - Salerno, Amalfi, Capri, Sorrento. We also visited Ravello and Vietri sul Mare using the SITA bus. We also arranged for a driver.

Sue, May

Overall:
It was such a splendid trip that we'll always remember.

Ken, January

Overall:
Go, relax, enjoy the people and have fun. Special thanks to our Rentvillas Travel Advisor, who communicated with me so many times to insure that we were all ready. She was a GODsend. Relieved my stress level in many areas.
Enjoyed Most:
The property was so special. The privacy and location were superb. The view from the patio was excellent and we truly enjoyed everything about our stay. We went on to Tuscany and stayed in another villa and then returned to Rome. Just got home last night but what a wonderful trip. Whoever left the bread, jam and tea on the counter was a welcome site as were the fresh flowers and fruit. LOVED IT!
Surrounding Area:
The weather was awesome. We rented a car so the opportunity to drive everywhere was superb. Whole place was special.
Nearby Events or Locales:
That is all relative as we are not used to the steps and inclines However, no problem as we just took the little bus into town and had our car.
Tips or Restaurants:
We loved dinner at La Sponda. What an awesome place. We did not understand at first that it is located in the Le Sirenuse Hotel. Also enjoyed Chez Black for lunch with a great view. So many wonderful places - cannot go wrong.
Directions:
Our only challenge was that we were coming in at dark and so it was a real challenge. Most flights come in at late afternoon so it is tricky. We made it though, so all worked out.
Check In Out:
Could not say enough about the young man who waited for us the first night. Very accommodating and he was right on time on Friday when we checked out.

Phil, November

Enjoyed Most:
The fact that there were two bathrooms was a great plus. The rooms were well appointed and the apartment was spotless.
Enjoyed Least:
The 104 steps up to the door were a bit daunting.
Surrounding Area:
The view was spectacular.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The heart of Positano was a downhill walk - about 15 minutes away.
Tips or Restaurants:
The apartment was very well equipped, however no instructions for the satellite TV. I would suggest bringing some CD's. Every restaurant was good. The climb up is steep, so don't forget anything.
Directions:
We arranged for a driver, through Rentvillas, to pick us up at the airport. This is really the best way to go.
Check In Out:
The agent was waiting for us upon arrival and he was very helpful. He helped us with our luggage, showed us around the apartment and advised us were to pick up groceries. Check out was simple and again he was prompt and efficient.

Sari, October

Overall:
We had never used Rentvillas before and we were really impressed with everything. We were so pleased to see that the pictures really did show us what we were getting. We can hardly wait to come back. The hotels across the street had entertainment that we could enjoy from the privacy of our balcony. Most enjoyable.
Enjoyed Most:
The view, the view, the view. Close to bus route and shops.
Enjoyed Least:
The steps: 104 to the street.
Surrounding Area:
It was Italy.
Tips or Restaurants:
You wouldn't need to bring anything. It was the best equipped of all the rental properties we had. It was amazing....they have thought of everything. The only thing we needed was an adaptor for the toaster and fortunately we had one in our suitcase. We ate a few times at Il Saraceno D'Oro. Delicious food and great prices. Tasty house wine.
Directions:
Our taxi driver called to find out where to meet the representative and he helped us carry up our bags, explained, where to shop for groceries and how the villa's equipment operated. He was very helpful.
Check In Out:
It went perfectly...no problems.

Greg, October

Overall:
Lovely apartment that we would gladly revisit after they buy that new bed.
Enjoyed Most:
Great location with easy access to Positano. Spacious, well-furnished, with a terrific deck overlooking the sea. The local agent was very helpful and professional. They tracked down our lost luggage, and without their help we surely would have never seen it again! The clothes washer was a plus. Climbing the 102 stairs was great exercise.
Enjoyed Least:
The bed. It was wafer thin and uncomfortable. A quality unit like this should have a better bed. At night if you left the door to the bedroom open to get a breeze, the street noise was bothersome until midnight. It would be nice to have one English-speaking channel on the TV.
Surrounding Area:
Positano is wonderful. The restaurants and shops are all high quality and despite the high volume of tourism are authentic and charming. Capri is beautiful but overwhelmingly crowded. Amalfi and Sorrento are worth a trip by bus or ferry. Sunrises and sunsets are special.
Tips or Restaurants:
We liked Caffe' Positano and the Bucca di Bacco hotel restaurant on the beach. Buy a GSM cell phone for 49 Euros from Mobal. Being able to communicate with the local agent is advisable in case of emergencies. Bring really good walking shoes and don't rent a car unless you plan to spend most of your time in Positano. Parking and driving are difficult and expensive. We enjoyed the excellent ferry boat services.
Directions:
We hired a limo from Naples. He talked to the agent en route and drove right to the property.
Check In Out:
Nice touch having the very strong man carry the bags up to the unit!

Steve, September

Enjoyed Most:
The balcony was fantastic. In addition, the bedroom was extremely spacious.
Enjoyed Least:
Probably the stairs although there is not a lot you can do about that.
Surrounding Area:
Beautiful views. Great restaurants.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Positano. Yes.
Tips or Restaurants:
The best restaurant that we went to was Pupetto. Great food and very reasonable prices. Plus, the ambiance was unbeatable.

Trey, August

Enjoyed Most:
The view from the terrace and the lovely Italian hand-painted tile floors. It was a very enjoyable atmosphere.
Enjoyed Least:
The mold around the "porthole" opening to the washing machine needs to be removed with bleach - easy to do. Also, the directions in English for how to operate the dishwasher need to be corrected. There is no cycle "No.3" as it states. There are cycles A through D.
Surrounding Area:
Shopping for groceries at the local markets, walking through the town and visiting other areas of the Amalfi coast. It's just beautiful!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montepertuso. You have to take the bus.
Tips or Restaurants:
Take the boat to Amalfi and have lunch on the terrace at Da Gemma. The filetto di manzo pizzaiola beef tenderloin neopolitan style is the most tender and delicious dish you could possibly hope for.
Directions:
We hired a driver through rentvillas who was excellent.
Check In Out:
Andrew was very nice and his English was superb.

Diana, August

Overall:
Baleno was as great as everyone raves about. The owner left us a welcoming gift of cakes and a small bottle of limoncello which is so nice. There's even an old guide book and maps of Capri and Sorrento which others have left behind. I was expecting to have to use the air conditioner in July, but surprisingly, it cooled down at night so we didn't have to use it, yet the days were hot and sunny.
Enjoyed Most:
Definitely the outside porch area where we spent all our time when we are at the apartment, whether eating, reading or playing cards. I really like the outside table with the Positano tiles. The view is superb and with blue skies, what else can you ask for? We're a family of 4 with kids aged 9 and 10. The kids slept on the sofa bed in the living room which we treated as a second bedroom as we spent all our time outdoors! All rooms had access to the porch.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing really. Just be warned about the many steps up! Come prepared with the right mind set, the whole of Positano is the same.
Surrounding Area:
Positano is definitely worth staying at. The other towns, such as Sorrento, just don't have the same atmosphere and is the most picturesque of the towns we visited (Amalfi, Ravello, Capri). The beach is pebbly, but with water-shoes the kids enjoyed cooling off in the water, playing with the pebbles and finding broken tiles! We also went to Pompeii for the day. We used the audio guides which were helpful; they even had aversion of the audio guide for kids.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Definitely go visit Nocelle; you can get a bus from Positano. When you get off the bus, you can either walk up a bit and look at the view or walk down and go to the trattoria where the view is unbelievable with good and reasonable food.
Tips or Restaurants:
Good restaurants recommended by others and confirmed by us include O'Guaracino on the waterfront and Cafe Positano. Be aware that the free boat to Da Adolfo restaurant on another beach doesn't run from 1-4pm. We got there too late but ended up at one of the casual restaurants on the Forillo beach which was fine.
Directions:
We had a driver from Naples train station (Mario from Seahorse Car Service). We called as we left the train station and called again when we were at the top of Positano. After the driver dropped us off, we waited about 5-10 minutes for the agent to show which was OK. He said he ran out of gas for his bike.
Check In Out:
The agent handled everything efficiently.

Mabel , July

Overall:
We loved the villa and the manager was wonderful. We would definitely reccommend Rentvillas, and plan on using your services again! Thanks for everyting.
Enjoyed Most:
Location and privacy.
Enjoyed Least:
Construction next door, and the iron didn't work. Editor's Note: There is no longer construction next door. July 2006
Surrounding Area:
It was a little off the beaten path.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Positano, yes we could walk. Can't stress enough how steep the steps are from the road. You need to be in great shape for it not to be a challenge. We also found that walking down to the beach on the road was easier than taking all the stairs.
Tips or Restaurants:
I would inquire about the iron. They now have an automatic drip coffee maker. We loved the Bruno restaurant. It's on the upper part of the road past the beach. Good food and good prices and great view! We also liked the pizzeria along the walk to the smaller beach. Was also very good and reasonable. Bruschetta on the smaller beach was great. Cafe Positano was very good but pricey. Avoid Saraceno D'oro. Horrible!

Kerry, June

Overall:
It was fantastic - we felt privileged to be there. Compliments to the Rentvillas staff for unbelievable service. We felt taken care of the entire time.
Enjoyed Most:
The ocean view, the size of the deck, the quality of the unit, ample household supplies and condiments, two bathrooms, washing machine and clothes line - it was all excellent. I really appreciated the coffee, water, and owner's gifts in the unit when we arrived. We made sure we replenished. Also felt extremely safe there. It was comfort beyond belief!
Enjoyed Least:
It was all very good. No complaints about the property itself. Our only issue was that there were renovations taking place in a unit right beside Baleno, and therefore we had construction noise all week. The last day we had to endure the jack hammer for the entire day. I realize this may be unusual, but unfortunately coincided with our stay. Editor's Note: There is no longer construction next door. July 2006
Surrounding Area:
Proximity to restaurants, grocery store, downtown, bus stops.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring your own bars of soap,
Directions:
We were escorted to our property - thank you for wonderful service.
Check In Out:
We had a specific check out time and the attendant was prompt and efficient.

Overall:
Fully furnished with beautiful decorations and very large bedroom.....wonderful living room, two bathrooms,....lovely pink tiled one for here and blue tiled for him, but the patio makes the stay unforgettable!!!!!!!!!!!
Enjoyed Most:
The property first and foremost has a view that is breathtaking. The fact that this villa comes completely furnished with everything you will need is a close second!!
Enjoyed Least:
No problems with this villa whatsoever.....just be prepared to climb the 104 steps leading up to the villa...but we just felt it added to the charm of it. Besides, if you see some of the wonderful, older ladies that live there doing it with no problem, it makes it a whole lot easier!!
Surrounding Area:
Everywhere you turn, the view was stunning........impossible to take a bad photo here.....
Nearby Events or Locales:
Positano is right there at the bottom of your steps....you can take a bus to the bottom near the beach or just walk like we did all the time - about 15 minutes to down where the beach is, but you pass by many, many, shops and restaurants along the way.....
Tips or Restaurants:
We parked our rental car and didn't touch it for our week stay in Positano.....One day we took the boat ride and spent a wonderful day and evening on the island of Capri....we also hired a American speaking driver from Executive Limousine Service right there in Positano. Speak to Luigi and he drove us around to surrounding towns such as Ravello, Amalfi coast line, etc......They just charge by the hour....wonderful service.....they will pick you up wherever you instruct them to.....Le Tre Sorrele is a wonderful restaurant located right on the beach were we had dinner with a couple we met from Australia.....
Directions:
Take your time and follow the directions, you should have no problems....
Check In Out:
We checked out the night before with an English speaking gentleman......this way we were able to leave at 6:00 am on Saturday morning....they were very accommodating.....

John, May

Overall:
Excellent apartment in an excellent town in an excellent country!
Enjoyed Most:
The cleanliness, the hominess, the view, and the flowers on the balcony, and the very well stocked kitchen.
Enjoyed Least:
The ants were the only annoying thing, and I guess Rentvillas are not responsible for inviting them in!
Surrounding Area:
Everything! The walking, the Roman ruins, the scenery, and exploring the nearby towns.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Positano. The apartment was actually in the town about 15 minutes downhill walk from the main shopping area, and the beach was uphill on the way back!
Tips or Restaurants:
You do need to be fairly able to enjoy this town and this property as there are an awful lot of stairs and steps everywhere, although there is a good bus service running round the town. Inevitably though, you do end up well exercised which I suppose is a good way to work off all that good Italian food!

David, October

Enjoyed Most:
Location, beautiful view, amenities of flat
Enjoyed Least:
For those who have trouble maneuvering steps or are not in the best physical condition, may find the number of steps very tiring.
Surrounding Area:
Quiet, restaurants, proximity to town.
Tips or Restaurants:
Everything you need is provided by the flat. We liked Cafe Positano
Directions:
If using the Sita bus into Positano, the drivers are not very helpful. Other tourists familiar with the area were more willing to help.

Yuen-Shan, October

Enjoyed Most:
The location was great, the apartment was very big, it had two bathrooms, and it had everything you could want in it. The view was just beautiful!!
Enjoyed Least:
At the end of a long day traveling, it was tough climbing those 104 steps. It did get us into shape though!
Surrounding Area:
Positano was a great place to base ourselves. We walked down to the harbor-beach area and could get tickets for the ferry to Capri. The bus stop was just at the end of the steps so if you did not have a car you could take the bus. We did this one night when we did not want to drive up to Montepertuso for dinner. There was a great little restaurant across the street and down the steps called Scareno D'Oro. There was also a little grocery store where we bought a few things for the apartment. We kept our car at the Parking Anna down the street which was so convenient. They charged us at the end of the week instead of daily. It did not matter how many times we took the car out. I would highly recommend going to Ravello for at least a day and visiting Villa Cimbrone. Just beautiful!! We stayed in Ravello two days prior to our stay in Positano. We also drove down to Paestum and saw some magnificent Greek ruins.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest town would be Montepertuso, and no you could not walk there. There was a bus stop at the end of the stairs. There is a sign posted there with the times and stops. You pay for your ticket on the bus.
Tips or Restaurants:
This apartment had everything!! We did not have to buy anything as far as cleaning stuff. It had every cooking utensil you could possibly imagine, plus a dishwasher which we did not use. It had a wonderful deck which we had breakfast on every morning and a drink at night. The apartment had a washing machine, an ironing board, a blow dryer, beach towels, plenty of bath towels, books, plenty of closet space and hangers!! The apartment stayed cool during the day and we only used the AC at night in the bedroom. We loved the restaurant Donna Rosa in Monteperutso. Great food and service. We went to Il Ritrovo one night, also, in Montepertuso and were very disappointed.
Directions:
We met our contact at the parking Anna. Her arranged for a porter to help carry our luggage which was great!!
Check In Out:
Very easy, reliable and on time!!

Enjoyed Most:
The view, the serenity, the location.
Enjoyed Least:
Did not have access to a phone.
Surrounding Area:
The people, the villages, everything.
Tips or Restaurants:
Saraceno de Oro is a great restaurant very close to the property.

Overall:
We loved this villa and the area. They were both exactly as we had imagined them and we plan to return soon.
Enjoyed Most:
We enjoyed the location is in a less busy part of town, the terrace, and the kitchen the most. The property is very accurately and well represented on Rentvillas.com.
Enjoyed Least:
The bed. The bed was a European double? meaning the bed is made up of two smaller beds. This is strictly a personal preference, but we would have preferred to have single mattress bedding.
Surrounding Area:
Positano is awesome, and we plan to return soon. I've been trying to find the words to describe this beautiful area to our friends, and it has actually proved quite difficult! In terms of what we were looking for - an unpretentious, yet elegant and refined Italian beach town experience, I don't think this villa and town could have been any better. I was impressed by the service culture of the town. Without exception, all the locals from the waiters, to the greengrocers, to the bus drivers were all friendly, gracious, and were quite natural and comfortable in providing excellent services and making us feel welome.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The location of this villa within Positano was great. It is away from the busier downtown and beach areas, but easily accessible to everything via bus or by walking. We really saw the location as a positive selling point.
Tips or Restaurants:
We loved the restaurants in Montepertusco, Donna Rosa, Il Ritrovo, et al. It's a fun and quick bus ride and well worth it in terms of value and experience. I would also highly suggest contacting Mr. Francesco Marrapese - www.francescomarrapese.com for carefree transfers to and from Naples and for driving tours of the area. Francesco is a polite, funny and professional young entrepenur, and could not have been nicer or a better driver. His services were reasonably priced, and money very well spent.
Directions:
Again, we utilized the services of a local driver. He predictably had no difficulty finding the villa.
Check In Out:
It was handled very well.

Overall:
The terrace was wonderful in that we could relax outside any time, as well as have a wonderful home-cooked meal overlooking part of the town.
Enjoyed Most:
We liked the location the most, since it allowed us to be a little away from the crowds, yet we could still walk to town easily. The terrace also made the property very appealing.
Enjoyed Least:
The washer did not work properly.
Surrounding Area:
Everything - the sites, the food, the people, the landscape! We loved Positano!
Tips or Restaurants:
Mediterraneo had a warm ambience, and it was great fun to eat there. The wine list is excellent! The best meal we had was at Max's, which was top notch. We wanted to work out every day, and the walks alone, up and down the stairs and hills of the town, gave us a good degree of exercise, and running around the town provided us an opportunity for a cardiovascular work-out.

Overall:
This is a perfect propety for a couple or a family of 4. Two bathrooms are very convienient. Very helpful owner and local agent. The kitchen is long and narrow, but plenty of room as it opens up off both the hall and the outdoor patio.
Enjoyed Most:
The wonderful sea view from each room and the large patio
Enjoyed Least:
nothing - we were in good shape to walk up and down the many steps - if you stop now and then, it is not too hard
Surrounding Area:
The people first, then the views, Positano, hiking, the surrounding villages and Capri. The food was great in every restaurant we tried.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montepertuso was close but it was all up hill. We hiked up 1,000 steps one day for lunch. The other cities by bus or car were Amalfi, Ravello and others. Sorrento was 30 minutes by bus and worth the trip.
Tips or Restaurants:
The apartment was stocked with all the basic necessities. Good idea to get food, etc., on Saturday as the markets are not open on Sunday. If you stay a week you will find the restaurant level that you prefer. Everyone speaks enough English to communicate on a basic level. People are very accommodating.

Overall:
Everything was the way it was described, and more...
Enjoyed Most:
Location and view. Also, the place was clean and big enough. The owners met us at the foot of the steps, helped us with the luggage! and explained everything. Very, very nice people. The town, of course, is marvelous.
Enjoyed Least:
We would have liked to have a bath tub. Or at least shower curtains that were practical, so that the water didn't splash on the floor.
Surrounding Area:
The views, the people, the boat ride to Amalfi, Capri, Sorrento. Every meal was delicious. My wife enjoyed shopping and walking thru town.
Nearby Events or Locales:
There were steps to everywhere!! but it was worth it.
Tips or Restaurants:
Do not forget mosquito repellant, sun screen and an extra pair of sun glasses.
Directions:
The traffic was bad. We think it is best to walk, take public transportation or rent a scooter. Taxis are notoriously expensive, but they will save you when all fails.

Overall:
We had a great time in a wonderful city. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting a pleasant experience in Italy. We spent one week of our honeymoon at the villa, and I would do it all over again in an instant.
Enjoyed Most:
The view was incredible, the place was very clean, and it was exactly as described on the web site.
Enjoyed Least:
Unfortunately, we were not told about how to work the heating and air conditioning, and one night, the low amperage electrical system 25 amps circuit breaker went off, and we had to call to figure out what to do. However, we were quickly provided with accurate information.
Surrounding Area:
The city of Positano is beautiful and the people are great.
Tips or Restaurants:
Le Tre Stelle was good.

David, April

Overall:
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Baleno. If Positano is in our travel plans again, I would definitely stay there.
Enjoyed Most:
The view was spectacular - it was lovely to have our own place - to cook and eat in on a wonderful panoramic patio, have space and a feeling of being at home. The steps were all part and parcel of it!! It was easily accessible - the city bus stopped right by the staircase.
Enjoyed Least:
If I had to complain at all, I would say the bathroom showers stalls as they were really small - however, it wasn't an issue for us. We really had no complaints at all.
Surrounding Area:
Positano is fantastic - we loved the town, the ease of getting on a boat and go wherever - back to Naples, to other towns, wherever really. Although we drove there initially, you can really get around withoput a car - the boats and the bus system make for very easy travelling. Peole were friendly and helpful
Nearby Events or Locales:
I guess you could walk - depending on your energy level - much easier to take a boat or bus though!
Tips or Restaurants:
All the restaurants were great - we liked Il Fornillo just near Baleno one curve down!. Things to bring - lots of energy and a desire to have a wonderful holiday!
Directions:
We came by car from Naples and the directions were very easy to follow. If we went to Positano again though, I would leave the car behind and take a boat from Naples.
Check In Out:
It was easy - the agent came very shortly after we arrived in Positano and was friendly and helpful. Check out was not an issue.

Sharon, July

Overall:
We were very pleased with the location which afforded a wonderful view. It was spacious, with nice bathrooms, a well appointed kitchen and the terrace was wonderful. We used it as our living room and dining room. We never sat inside!
Enjoyed Most;

The terrace
Surrounding Area

We rented a boat and went down the coast - just breath taking! Positano was 450 steps away, would be hard on people with disabilities or out of shape.
Nearby Events or Locales:

For people that are there during the summer, renting a boat and going down the coast is a must! We rented it for the day, cut the engine and swam in the sea whenever we got hot, and had a wonderful seaside lunch at a restaurant tucked in a small cove outside of Amalfi. It was very easy to drive.

June

Overall:
The property was gorgeous, well-kept, comfortable and clean with a fantastic view! We really felt as if we were staying at a friend's home.

May

Overall:
Very well represented on the website. A great place for a relaxing vacation.
Enjoyed Most:
Balcony and the view, location in Positano, kitchen and bathrooms all updated, space and rooms.
Enjoyed Least:
Tough walk up the stairs, that we got used to as the week progressed! Noisy at night/early morning - dogs and garbage trucks!
Surrounding Area:
Scenery, many sites and antiquities in the area, easy access to public transportation (boats and busses), restaurants, shopping. It was the most enjoyable vacation we have had, including many foreign trips to Europe and Asia.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Capri, Pompei and the entire Amalfi Coast.
Tips or Restaurants:
May not need to rent a car with so much public transportation available. Grotto Azzura a great trattoria - easy 1k walk up the hill. Vincenzo's was excellent also.

Emily, September

Overall:
It had everything that was described on the Web site, it even had a washer---which we didn't anticipate. The property was neat and very clean and had everything stocked in the kitchen you could imagine. The only thing that wasn't as comfortable was the bed; it wasn't up to American standards. But, after having traveled all over Europe, I know their mattress standards are a little different than ours.
Enjoyed Most:
It was very clean and had a washer and air-conditioning
Enjoyed Least:
The bed. The mattress was a little hard. Also, the property was located on top of the hill in Positano, not advised if you are older or have medical problems. You had to muster a lot of steps to get up there.
Surrounding Area:
The water, the view was amazing, the town absolutely wonderful. One of the most romantic places I have ever visited.

Cecilia, August

Overall:
Clean, big and well located if you don't mind a 20 minute walk from the city center, although this was closer than many of the other places higher on the hill. Close to a couple of good restaurants (Il Capitano and Il Fornillo).
Enjoyed Most:
The balcony! Good AC (for an additional cost).
Enjoyed Least:
Because the people that rented the property after us arrived early, they arrived at the property before we left (more of the property manager's problem than the property's problem). Also, the pillows were sort of thin.
Tips or Restaurants:
Definitely Il Capitano and Il Guaracino.
