Customer Reviews

Overall:
We have stayed in this apartment before and enjoyed the location.
Enjoyed Most:
The location.
Enjoyed Least:
The lack of garbage removal service. You have to discard your own garbage with no dumpster within 3 blocks of the building. We also lost hot water at least once a day, but by the time the maintenance person arrived, it came back.
Surrounding Area:
Everything is nearby - sites, shopping, restaurants, etc.
Tips or Restaurants:
If you're traveling in the colder weather, pack quick dry towels because there is no dryer and if you hang them out they will take days to dry. Cipolla Rossa near the San Lorenzo market is amazing - casual and delicious!

Jeanne, December

Overall:
Perfect - could not have been better.
Enjoyed Most:
The location and the spaciousness of the apartment. The AC worked brilliantly as well.
Enjoyed Least:
Can't think of anything.
Surrounding Area:
Everything was at our fingertips - beautiful location in the city. You won't find a 5-star hotel with a better location.
Tips or Restaurants:
Pack a small amount of laundry detergent, some garbage bags and a roll of paper towels for the kitchen. Supermarkets are located outside the city center so these items were key to have on hand our first few days there. Fresh fruit and breakfast items we purchased at the Mercato Centrale - a 5 min. walk from the apartment and a fabulous experience.
Check In Out:
Both were a breeze. Greeter was on time and friendly and explained all the appliances.

Jeanne, June

Overall:
In general, we all loved our stay.
Enjoyed Most:
The location and the size of the apartment. We all felt very comfortable even when there were 6 of us staying there.
Enjoyed Least:
The mosquitoes, and the amount we were charged for the utilities.
Surrounding Area:
Being able to walk everywhere and having excellent restaurants nearby.
Nearby Events or Locales:
I walked to Bellosguardo, but I don't imagine many visitors to Florence would wish to walk there! I had attended a college program at the Torre di Bellosguardo and so wanted to see what the hotel that took over the property was like.
Tips or Restaurants:
Take advantage of the anti-mosquito devices that are provided by the management.

Lisa, June

Overall:
I've rented apartments in many European cities over the years, but this is my favorite! I would recommend it to anyone.
Enjoyed Most:
Location was great...right in the middle of fabulous shops, restaurants, close to the train and bus stations. The property itself is very clean, well furnished and the rooms are large. The outdoor space is large and very private.
Enjoyed Least:
Everything was great! A small suggestion would be to do something about the drain smell in the 3rd bathroom.
Check In Out:
The on-site Staff was very friendly, helpful and English-fluent.

Karen, April

Enjoyed Most:
Property was wonderfully roomy. All the bedrooms were spacious. Location is excellent. Very clean and well appointed and equipped.
Enjoyed Least:
Master bedroom, which was air conditioned with a wall unit, rather than central air as the rest of the apartment, was a little warm during hot summer nights. This problem was solved by opening the bedroom door and position a fan in the living room to blow air into the bedroom at night.
Surrounding Area:
Great shopping, both high-end and for practicalities. Very good restaurants located within easy walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
We enjoyed the Antinori right next door and Buca Lapi next door, downstairs as well as Quattro Leoni.
Check In Out:
Very efficient and complete. Advice regarding housecleaning needs were on the mark and assistance with transportation to airport and train station extremely helpful.

Carolyn, August

Enjoyed Most:
We have stayed in this apartment a couple of times on our visits to Florence. To be able to stay there for an entire month was really a treat. We have been to Florence many times, and this is without question the finest property available for rent that we have found. In the heart of the city in an exclusive building, beautifully appointed and well air conditioned.
Enjoyed Least:
The only negative was our final bill. With skyrocketing energy costs, be prepared for a large bill if you are there in the summer and have to use the air conditioning in order to be comfortable. We did not need the air conditioner at all the first 2 weeks of June, but the last 2 weeks of the month were quite hot and required the air being on. When the bill was presented, I was shocked.
Surrounding Area:
Perfect location, on the best shopping street in the city, with limited foot traffic. A very short walk to any location within Florence.
Tips or Restaurants:
There is one new restaurant in the area worth mentioning. Ossteria de la Giovanni, on via del Mora, a 2 minute walk from the apartment, was opened by the owners of famed I Latini. Giovani is wonderful and should not be missed.

Michael, June

Enjoyed Most:<br The location was excellent! Large apartment - very good for 5 people. TWe traveled with two small children and apartment was large enough and family-friendly.
The location was excellent! Large apartment - very good for 5 people. We traveled with two small children and apartment was large enough and family-friendly.
Enjoyed Least:
Mosquitoes galore. Could not open the windows because of them. Also, didn't like the extra costs for the utilities (the electricity was about $100) and final cleaning. Any maid service is extra.
Surrounding Area:
Florence is wonderful. The location is so central and easy to get everywere.
Check In Out:
Lorenzo, the doorman, was helpful for recomendations and very friendly with the kids.

Kathie, May

Overall:
We loved it and would recommend it to everyone. It was so comfortable and relaxing to be in the apartment, it was as close to home as you can get in a foreign country
Enjoyed Most:
It is hard to pick just one thing that we liked the most about this property---the apartment is beautiful and spacious and the location could not be better. Everything is within walking distance.
Enjoyed Least:
Mosquitoes--not really the property's problem, though.
Surrounding Area:
You can get to everything from the apartment. If something is not within walking distance, the bus stop is outside the front door and the train station is about 2 blocks away.
Nearby Events or Locales:
This is in the heart of Florence.
Tips or Restaurants:
For Americans---bring tissues and washcloths, since both are hard to find in Europe. Bring mosquito repellant so that you can open the windows and enjoy the wonderful fresh air. The neighborhood trattorias are excellent; however, we took the opportunity to shop in the local markets and cook almost every day.
Check In Out:
Maria was wonderful and extremely helpful. Checking in and out was a no-brainer

Deborah, April

Overall:
Rentvillas - your staff was helpful and I admire your persistance in obtaining my comments. It tells me that you are serious in wanting candid comments and I have done that. Thanks for helping me enjoy a wonderful holiday with my family.
Enjoyed Most:
Location! We had reviewed many properties before choosing this one. Everone claimed a good location, so we became skeptical. But we became true believers in this apartment after the first day---it is truly a brisk, ten-minute walk from anywhere worth going, e.g. the train station, Central Market and the Arno River. For any first timers to Florence, take it from me, a sixty plus with RA, you can't beat this location, which, incidentally, is on the same block as Bulgari, Rolex, Cavali, Gucci, Pouellato, Parenti, Hermes and my favorite, Loretta Caponi - children's clothes. You will find an excellent staff in the building. They were most helpful in every way. They helped me to establish a wireless connection to their router - weak, but serviceable and FREE. They promptly responded to requests for a microwave oven, ice trays, mosquito devices, etc. The guide to local establishments restaurants, shops, etc., was excellent.
Enjoyed Least:
No maid service mid-stay. The kitchen did not have some basic supplies, e.g. measuring cups, micorwaveable bowls and drinking glasses larger than 6 oz.. We bought a measuring cup and left it there. The air conditioning unit was not working during our stay. After our complaints, the staff told us about the plug-in mosquito devices, which worked reasonably well. We think that at least two windows should be fitted with screens to provide cross ventilation at night and keep out the mosquitoes. We had to provide our own toilet paper and paper towels. We didn't find the mattresses comfortable.
Surrounding Area:
Proximity to shops, restaurants and sites.
Tips or Restaurants:
Trattoria Marione, Acqua Al2 and Buca Lapi.

Peter, April

Enjoyed Most:
Location.
Enjoyed Least:
Construction work during our stay. No screens. Elevator could be in better working order (it is old).
Surrounding Area:
Ease of everything
Tips or Restaurants:
Plenty of good restaurants. Explore them, and you won't be disappointed.

Louis, October

Overall:
Very well decorated. Presentable to sophisticated guests.
Enjoyed Most:
Great location.
Enjoyed Least:
Waiting for the elevator if someone else has used it and forgot to close the gate.
Surrounding Area:
Great restaurants and shops.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Very convenient to the train station.

Donald, July

Overall:
There was onsite management on the 2nd floor to help with any questions and a front doorman. These were nice touches.
Enjoyed Most:
The property has 3 bedrooms with a large central living area and a nice terrace overlooking Florence. Additionally, the property is located in the Piazza Antinori which is a 5 minute walk from the Duomo, a 5 minute walk from the train station, and 10 minutes from the Ponte Vecchio. We were in the heart of Florence.
Surrounding Area:
We were in the heart of everything, could walk everywhere in between 5-20 minutes. Saves time on your vacation to vacation instead of catching buses or renting cars or taxis.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Close to Santa Croce, Il Duomo, and Oltrarno. Walking there is not a problem at all.
Tips or Restaurants:
Day 1: Go out and stock the refrigerator with your snacks and refreshments. As far as good resturants: Tre Bottiglie di Donatello; its entrance faces the north side of the Duomo.
Directions:
Received by onsite staff, walked through the place, signed the lease, and they were gone in 10 minutes.
Check In Out:
No. If you have questions, just go to the office on the 2nd floor.

Anthony, March

Overall:
The management was helpful and available. The literature in the apartment was also very helpful with telephone numbers, transport etc. We knew help was available if needed. Though there is a washer, there isn't a dryer. Racks work well on the patio, though. With three generations staying in the apartment, cell phones worked remarkably well and are widely available for short-term rental.
Enjoyed Most:
The location in the heart of Florence is perfect. It combines sight seeing, shopping, ambiance and transportation remarkably well. Behind the building is a living neighborhood with grocers, wine shops, vegetable stands and excellent restaurants within two or three blocks in a vibrant warren of interesting streets. In front of the property is the high-end shopping street of the city. In every direction is Renaissance Florence within four blocks walking. A bus stop immediately outside our door takes us to anything further; bus 6 stops at San Marco and the Academia. The train station is only a five-minute walk to the 90-minute train to Rome. Cabs are readily available and prompt. The center of Florence becomes very crowded, and this location is just far enough removed to feel secure and relaxing.
Surrounding Area:
Getting a feel for living in the city is possible from Aida. Our grocer, restaurant owners and shopkeepers knew us on sight and were delightful. Via Della Spada particularly has a local feel but had excellent services. It felt to us, walking around the city as we did, that this location has an especially high density of good restaurants and services without being overly touristy. Plenty of Italian was spoken at all these restaurants.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Siena and San Gimignano are an easy car ride for an afternoon. The car rental agencies are only a ten-minute walk away.
Tips or Restaurants:
Several fun restaurants lie on or near Via Della Spada. Trattoria Marino is small, bustling and inviting. Buca Mario with vaulted ceiling and larger menu was excellent and a block further. Il Latini really does have a crowd outside beginning at 7:30pm, so call for a 7:30 reservation! The front windows remained jammed with people waiting on the street until we left at 930, all supplied with wine to keep them happy. La Spada, recommended by previous renters, carry-out, is also on this street and has its trattoria around the corner with separate entrance. Cantinetta Antinori is beautiful, expensive and immediately out our front door! Buca Lapi lies underneath it, the arched cellar accessed downstairs around the corner 30 feet further. One disappointment is Belladonna, close and pretty but with the only poor food we encountered and with staff to match.

Robert, March

Overall:
Great apartment, great location, great neighbourhood.
Enjoyed Most:
Location.
Enjoyed Least:
Air condition unit for next floor down is so near to window of two of the bedrooms. It made a loud clunk when it started, waking us if we kept windows open.
Surrounding Area:
Downtown Florence! What needs to be said.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Downtown Florence.
Tips or Restaurants:
La Sostanza.

Tom, October

Overall:
Th apartment exceeded our expectations for comfort and location and we would not hesitate to return.
Enjoyed Most:
Location - it was an easy walk to all historical sights, great restaurants, the train station and designer shops.
Enjoyed Least:
We battled mosquitos until we discovered the window where they were getting in and then we sealed it off.
Surrounding Area:
We thoroughly enjoyed Florence - the sights, sounds, food, people and shopping.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We stayed in Florence to be close to the action. We did several day trips by train to Rome, Venice and by bus to the Tuscan countryside.
Tips or Restaurants:
Our 2 favorite restaurants were Il Latini and Osteria de Benci.
Directions:
We arrived by taxi from the airport so directions were not a problem.
Check In Out:
The process was simple and easy and the staff was very helpful during our entire stay.

Tom, May

Enjoyed Most:
The Location and the size of the apartment
Enjoyed Least:
The master bedroom air conditioner was not able to keep up with the heat and humidity .. all the other air units were great
Surrounding Area:
Close to everything within a few blocks.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Too many to list .. all th wonderful places in Florence.

Irving, September

Overall:
This apartment was better than we expected. It was beautiful, comfortable, quiet, and in an ideal location.
Enjoyed Most:
Everything. The decor was pleasant and the floorplan worked for us. The outside terrace was nice to have. Most surprising was that we were in the middle of a very busy and noisy city and heard nothing when we were in the apartment. The building was quite secure, too. Bedrooms and bathrooms met American standards well enough.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing.
Surrounding Area:
Everything. The location of the apartment was ideal, and beautiful section of Florence.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The Railroad station is within walking distance which makes it very easy to take day trips. There are some great designer outlets outside Florence (i.e., Prada, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, etc) about a 30 minute local train ride to Montevarca and Incisa.
Tips or Restaurants:
Just enjoy the place while you can because you will feel sad to leave.

Miranda, July

Overall:
We have been hesitant to submit comments on this apartment for fear that we will never get the use of it again, as it will become too popular. To say that it was as near perfect as possible is an understatement. It was spacious, well-furnished, clean, perfectly located, and comfortable.
Enjoyed Most:
Two things stood out as the best about the apartment; (1)location was near everything in the old part of Florence (2) how spacious and comfortable the apartment was for 6 people.
Surrounding Area:
Everything, we were in Florence, was is not to enjoy. One block away is Buca Lapi Restaurant, perfect and close. As you will discover in Florence, there is no such thing as a bad meal. If you use a driver service, arranged by the management of the building, have them ask for Max to drive. He speaks English well, and we enjoyed the days we spent with him in the Tuscany area.
Nearby Events or Locales:

Overall:
The apartment was not only elegant but comfortable. It was unuaually quiet, given the location. it was very well maintained and clean. The property management staff was extremely helpful and quick to respond to questions or requests.
Enjoyed Most:
The best part was the location. It was far enough away to permit a more "neighborhood" feel, yet close enough for those willing to immerse themselves in the hordes of tourists. We did a lot of cooking because there were so many wonderful food shops around.
Enjoyed Least:
The cost, although we recognized that the quality made the cost appropriate.
Surrounding Area:
The markets were great. Everything (museums and churches)was well within walking distance even for an old lady! Being there for a month permitted us to become acquainted with the merchants, a delightful experience even if we didn't speak the language well.
Nearby Events or Locales:
A parade the came by our house.
Tips or Restaurants:
Make sure if you bring appliances that you bring the right adaptors.

January

Overall:
We loved the apartment! The view of Santa Maria Novella from the terrace was great! Waking up and hearing the bells from S.M.N. and the Campanile was fantastic. The air conditioning was much appreciated! The rooms were spacious and well appointed. The porter, Mauro, was very helpful.
Enjoyed Most:
It is so close to everything - and yet so quiet - three blocks to the Duomo - three blocks to the train station - on the best shopping street in Florence - four blocks to the Arno - Since it was so close to everything we could easily go back during mid day after lunch and recover from the heat and then go out again at four when the shops started to open up again. With a six year old it was really useful to have the ability to take that break!
Enjoyed Least:
Bugs on the terrace which bit me but didn't bother anyone else.
Surrounding Area:
It is a perfect location to see Florence's many museums, churches, and sites, and yet also easily accessible to the A1 and A11 autostrades so that it was easy to get to the hill towns. The streets behind the apartment like Via della Spade and Vigna Nuova are like time forgotten! So much fun to go into the little shops and markets. We went grocery shopping at Pegna which is at the end of Via della Oche by the Duomo, and has everything that you need in a grocery store, except fresh vegetables and fruits. We then took a carriage ride back to the apartment with all our groceries!
Nearby Events or Locales:
all of Florence
Tips or Restaurants:
up Via Della spade at the corner of Via dell Moro (or the street before it) is a restaurant/carry out with delicious roasted chicken and pork roasts that we brought back to the apartment and feasted on out on the terrace - the restaurant entrance is on via dell Moro and the carryout is on via dell spade, but they share the kitchen - the bread store - Al Forno- on della spade was also very good - they have French bread and great looking focaccio in addition to the salt free Tuscan bread.

September

Overall:
It was very homey and welcoming.
Enjoyed Most:
The location and large amount of space.
Enjoyed Least:
There was no dryer and the washer was small.
Surrounding Area:
There was easy access to everything, and it was very close to the Duomo.
Nearby Events or Locales:
There were markets and shopping nearby.
Tips or Restaurants:
La Spada was a nice, quick restaurant with good food.

August

Overall:
You can tell everyone that it was well worth the money! The property was wonderful, it was a wonderful sight to behold when we first walked in and it remained that same feeling for the 2 months we stayed there. The terrace was lovely quiet and a real plus.
Enjoyed Most:
The location was perfect, we had very easy access to the trains and buses, and just being able to walk to all the popular places in Florence and more.
