Customer Reviews

Overall:
It was better than we expected -- clean, quiet, large, well-appointed, great location.
Enjoyed Most:
The location, layout, and size of the apartment.
Enjoyed Least:
Water temperature issues in the shower and sink. The lack of a dryer.
Surrounding Area:
ALL OF IT great, including the restaurants nearby.
Nearby Events or Locales:
All of Firenze!

Lou, July

Enjoyed Most:
Location.
Enjoyed Least:
The water pressure in the bathrooms and the sporadic hot water.
Surrounding Area:
Everything! We love the shopping and the restaurants.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Fiesole, it is a short taxi ride. We also love Forte de Marmii which is on the coast. That is only 1 12 hours on the bus. They have cute hotels and the town comes alive at night. Easyjet now has inexpensive flights to Paris from Pisa so we flew to Paris and spent 5 days there and had the most fabulous time.
Tips or Restaurants:
I highly recommend having dinner at the Villa San Michele in Fiesole. It is so beautiful and so romantic. The view of Florence from there is amazing. I highly recommend going in the Spring and not in the summer when it is so terribly hot.

Overall:
Wonderfully helpful staff who work on the premises. Good availability in emergencies by phone. Excellent security.
Enjoyed Most:
Location was excellent for getting around on foot or by bus. The old Palazzo feel and grandness of the property was delightful. The place was neat and clean. Kitchen, though a bit small, was well appointed and adequate for our needs. Beds were comfortable. Enough room for a party.
Enjoyed Least:
Location in the heart of the old district was noisy. The interior bedroom was quiet, but the street-side rooms experienced an urban symphony of buses, scooters, street sweepers and cabs. You had to close all windows to drown out the street sounds. Most older places use tankless hot water systems. They take a while to get cooking, and don't expect long showers.
Surrounding Area:
600 years of history, the Uffizzi Gallery, the Duomo, exquisite hill towns, the Medici Chapels, the Central Market, the Straw Market, the food, the wine..........This is Florence, Italy, what's not to like!!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Fiesole is just outside the city, a 15-minute city bus ride. The big red London-style city tour bus is actually a great opportunity to get your bearings and see the city. It provides an audio program with personal headset in multiple languages and allows unlimited on and off for 24 hours. Other tours are easily available for a myriad of towns within an hour and a half to visit Siena, Pisa, San Gimignano, Montalcino, Lucca, Volterra etc.
Tips or Restaurants:
Restaurants Osteria di Giovanni - wonderful - and i Latini. Try to avoid the tourist hot spots and tourist menus in English. Ask a local where his favorites are or Rick Steves tour book gave candid ratings. Driving? Buy a local, good quality road atlas. Walking? Any of the Street-Wise series pocket maps are excellent. In Florence, go immediately to one of the local tourist info offices near S. Maria Novella or on Via Cavour, or others and get a sheet indicating open-close times for all the attractions. You cannot rely on any tour book published before yesterday! They will also have info on visiting exhibits and music etc. If you intend to cook, bring a bit of your own spices etc., Zip-Lock bags in various sizes, Saran Wrap. Supermarkets in the center are rare and not conveniently located for the traveler. The Central Market, while glorious, doesn't have that sort of thing.
Directions:
If you rent a car, as I did, be aware YOU CANNOT DRIVE IN THE HISTORIC CENTER. Only special permits allow this for local residents. Except for day trips out of town, the car is an expensive, inconvenient waste. in retrospect, I would have planned my day trips in sequence and rented the car for two or three days only.

Enjoyed Most:
Location. Also, the local representatives were very helpful.
Enjoyed Least:
Traffic noise.
Surrounding Area:
Easy access to shopping, restaurants, and toirist sights
Nearby Events or Locales:
Fiesole. Not able to walk to but easy to take a bus.

Overall:
It is great! Try not to go in the summer because it is very hot!!!
Enjoyed Most:
The location.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing
Surrounding Area:
The scenery, shopping, restaurants and the beautiful church across the street.
Tips or Restaurants:
We love Pandemonio, Cuatro Leone, Aqua al Due. The food is so fabulous in Florence!!!
Check In Out:
The women who manage the rentals are so sweet and helpful.

Overall:
We were so pleased with this apartment. I really had hoped for a view but I found that our view of the crest lit at night was just as dramatic. The high ceilings and large open windows add to the elegance of the property and the street noise that is mentioned in other reviews was just part of having an apartment in a city.
Enjoyed Most:
The very best surprise was that this apartment was MORE than I expected! How often does that happen? It was MORE spacious, MORE comfortable, quieter and cleaner than I expected, based on the reviews I had read. It is a beautiful apartment located on the most prestigious street in town and within walking distance of all city sights. Shhh! Don't tell too many people!
Enjoyed Least:
Lack of clothes dryer. I could live without washing clothes but since there is a washer there should probably be a dryer. Also, shower curtains.
Surrounding Area:
We enjoyed everything the surrounding area had to offer, including historical sights, restaurants, the Arno and of course, the most spectacular shopping in the city. We loved the sounds of the horse-drawn carriages below our window and the busy feel of the street....both in the morning when people were going to work and also later in the evening.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We visited Fiesole after our driver told us not to miss it and were so glad we did. We took a taxi and loved seeing the Roman baths and Amphitheatre.
Tips or Restaurants:
We loved Buca Lapi so much we went three times for the pasta, flourless chocolate cake and steak. Loved the entire Antinori experience and will now visit Atlas Winery here in California. I brought bath and face soap and body lotion for both bathrooms...also, basic necessities for the kitchen, although we found many small local shops that have everything you might need. Hair dryer was provided and only missed an adapter for my daughter's Ipod. Otherwise, the kitchen, as well as the linen situation, was more than adequate. I did not cook.
Directions:
No, it was so clear and our taxi driver knew the location immediately.
Check In Out:
The property managers and Rentvillas.com made our check in and out very clear and painless. The door manager greeted us promptly since we arrived beyond the normal check-in time, answered all questions in English and made a professional and friendly welcome.

Overall:
The staff's response to issues was excellent. They are wonderful to work with and very friendly.
Enjoyed Most:
Loved the location as well as the apartment's ambiance as well as it's size.
Enjoyed Least:
The pillows were hard. We noticed a sewer gas smell in the smaller bedroom off the living room. Also, the floors needed a cleaning - probably from the car and bus exhaust when the windows are open.
Surrounding Area:
Very much. Fabulous neighborhood.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The apartment was in the center of Florence, near the Duomo.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring your own pillow. Bring slippers so your feet don't get so dirty. Bring any of your favorite foods such as peanut butter if that's one of them that you might not find easily in Italy. Excellent restaurants in neighborhood as well as fabulous shops for food to eat at home.

Sandra, April

Overall:
The air conditioners were not working when we arrived and it was unbearably hot.
Enjoyed Most:
Location!
Enjoyed Least:
Once the air conditioner was fixed, it leaked water.
Surrounding Area:
The shopping and sightseeing.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Loved everything in the area.
Tips or Restaurants:
We loved Quatro Leone!

Tita, July

Overall:
This is a fabulous apartment with lovely furnishings and the best location in Florence. We travel to Florence a great deal and this was our best trip.
Enjoyed Most:
The spaciousness of the Crest was an added luxury and the convenience of the location made everything easy.
Enjoyed Least:
The kitchen is very small. Just the two of us stayed in the apartment. I imagine the kitchen would be hard for anyone that was a serious cook or for two couples. Also, it is impossible to turn off the heat. You can turn off the auxillary heat, but not the system that heats the entire building. Sometimes it would be stuffy.
Surrounding Area:
All of the shops - Ferragamo, Hermes, Tods, Prada and then the little boutiques. Restaurants and cafes abound.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Just walk out the door and magic happens.
Tips or Restaurants:
The art gallery across the street is fabulous! Garga, Il Camillio, Antinori wine bar, Osteria Bella Donne are always winners.

Jeanne, March

Overall:
It was in a lovely area and extremely convenient to everything. It was large and nicely furnished.
Enjoyed Most:
The convenience to all the major attractions and railway and bus terminals.
Enjoyed Least:
The kitchen had all new appliances but was too small, and when you had the windows open, it could be very noisy.
Surrounding Area:
The beautiful shops and also the shops nearbye where we could purchase all the necessities for the apartment.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Every weekend there was a medieval parade which went right below our apartment. We visited Fiesole which is a. short cab or bus ride and is wonderful. Just walking all around Florence and discovering all the different neighborhoods was wonderful.
Tips or Restaurants:
All I would suggest is that for anyone who is renting for a month as we did should send a box with all the little conveniences you might like in your own home. We each sent one and they arrived right on time. There were many great restaurants, but two very near the apartment that were very good were Garga (where we had the best time in the cooking class) and Osterio l. We also liked the 4 Lions near Pitti Palace.

Overall:
This was an elegant and comfortable accomodation. It was just delightful. The local staff was very helpful. We had one minor porblem and they were very responsive.
Enjoyed Most:
THE LOCATION!!! The apartment is beautifully decorated and very spacious. The high ceilings and the doors that opened onto the street created an ambiance of a house not an apartment.
Enjoyed Least:
Not being able to stay longer.....
Surrounding Area:
We were right on the Via Tornabuoni-we could and did walk everywhere! You certainly don't want to drive in Florence. The Via Tornabuoni is the finest shopping street in Florence. There is a fantastic winebar/restaurant practically next door.

James, March

Overall:
We loved the apartment! We were two couples - there was plenty of privacy, a large living room for lounging, and we all appreciated the location and the way the apartment was decorated. "When can we go back?" is the real question!
Enjoyed Most:
Location and space. The photos looked great, but it was better in person - more luxurious!
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing!
Surrounding Area:
We came to sightsee and shop. We were close to the train station and all the shops!
Nearby Events or Locales:
The Odeon, the carousel.
