Customer Reviews

Overall:
Beautiful, large castle in a picture perfect location that seemed like something out of a Tuscan fantasy.
Enjoyed Most:
The views from every direction almost seemed orchestrated, but were gorgeous. The location certainly offered a wonderful diversity as it had proximity both to nearby Firenze, but also to the FI-PI-LI highway which allowed quick and easy access to the beach along the Tyrrhenian Coast and points in between. Not to mention that just wandering the back roads of Tuscany and discovering the charming towns was a completely amazing experience.
Enjoyed Least:
Perhaps the fact that it seemed very 'hotel' like and that there were a large amount of other tourists and families staying there. It was a beautiful place, but if one is looking for a serene, sedate location, this is not it. Also, the Wi-Fi issue comes up again. The only location where it worked was the great hall outside the reception office and only when the staff remembered to leave it on. There was always a crowd of us gathered around the giant King Arthur sized table surfing and trying to avoid mosquitoes. Thankfully it did not cost anything, but might have been nicer in the rooms or out by the pool.
Surrounding Area:
The sheer beauty of the countryside and how a region could seemingly change character with a few turns and going over a couple of hills. Not to mention that Firenze's greatness was literally a quick, easy ride away. Add the free parking up on the Piazza Michelangelo and not having to take a car into the city and it was heavenly.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Technically, Montagnana was the nearest town, but it was barely more than a few buildings and Cerbaia was the largest 'near' town.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring mosquito netting and duct tape if coming in the summertime with the sweltering heat and killer mosquitoes. Nearby Cerbaia and San Casciano were amazing little places to get quality food at very low prices without breaking the bank.

Enjoyed Most:
The area and views.
Enjoyed Least:
Lack of screens on windows - no provisions for heat - no air conditioning.
Surrounding Area:
Views and peace.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring a travel iron and good maps.

Enjoyed Most:
The views were amazing - exactly how we had imagined.
Enjoyed Least:
It was really cold at night and there was no heating allowed at the time we were there. Bed was also very hard and uncomfortable and the blankets kept slipping off.
Surrounding Area:
So close to everything. Loved exploring the towns and cities of Tuscany.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Baccaiano. Fairly easy to walk there but to get back is uphill all the way and would be pretty exhausting.
Tips or Restaurants:
The restaurant in the castle is excellent and very convenient! Bring warm pyjamas and bring a radio if you can't handle the peace and quiet!! We weren't aware that there is a bus from Florence that goes right past the castle until we got there. Trying to navigate our way out of Florence in our rental car was a nightmare!!! The car definitely came in handy to explore the rest of Tuscany, but wasn't necessary like we were lead to believe. You could have gotten around by getting a bus into Florence and then a train out to other towns.

Overall:
It was the best vacation ever. The castle is magnificent and the personnel very nice and helpful. We can't wait to come back and stay there again.
Enjoyed Most:
The view from the windows was magnificent. The gardens were beautiful.
Enjoyed Least:
The mosquitoes, no screen on the windows. We had noisy neighbors with little children.
Surrounding Area:
We loved the little towns. We loved going to the alimentari and buying local food and talking trying to to the locals. The people were so helpful and friendly.
Tips or Restaurants:
The best restaurant is Il Focolare, in Montagnana. Buy electronic mosquito repellers. The mosquitoes were nasty.

Enjoyed Most:
It is a castle! What more do I have to say. The view from our top floor windows was amazing. The grounds and the pool were wonderful. The staff were unobtrusive, but helpful. It was the highlight of our 3-week tour of Italy.
Enjoyed Least:
There was some early morning traffic noise since we overlooked the road, but it wasn't too bad. The groceries available in the close towns was very minimal. We had to drive to the city 15 minutes away to get a good selection.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The town was a long walk, but the road is narrow so it was too dangerous to try.
Tips or Restaurants:
Get a room in the castle like this one, not in the out buildings. The castle has wonderful atmosphere.

Overall:
Room was clean. E-mail and telephone access was very slow. Some e-mail took over a week to deliver. Telephone did not always work.
Enjoyed Most:
The view from our windows.
Enjoyed Least:
Noisy neighbors. Children running in adjoining room made our entire apartment shake.
Surrounding Area:
Very scenic. Good ice cream and pastry shops nearby.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ice cream shops, pastry shops
Tips or Restaurants:
Pay restaurants with cash. A cashier added a zero to our credit card recept. Had we not noticed, lunch would have cost us ten times as much.
