Customer Reviews

Overall:
It couldn't have been a more perfect place to stay for a week! Everything was terrific and the tour of the winery and wine tasting was very special!
Enjoyed Most:
The peace and quiet, the wonderful pool, the ability to drive to others cities during the day and come home to enjoy the villa and make great food at night!
Surrounding Area:
All the towns and cities we visited were amazing and driving through the Tuscan countryside was spectacular!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montopoli and Pontedera were the 2 closest towns.
Tips or Restaurants:
Make sure you bring spices to cook with and detergent to wash your clothes. Bug spray would also be recommended.
Directions:
It was crucial that we had our GPS or I think we would have been lost!
Check In Out:
The check-in worked out once we were in contact with the key person. At first no one answered when we tried to buzz the gate. Security people helped us and then the key person arrived! Check out went very smoothly!

Overall:
Our experience was excellent. We would stay there again.
Enjoyed Most:
Grounds were outstanding. Pool was great. Ability to walk around the vineyards was awesome.
Surrounding Area:
It was close to a grocery store, and easy to travel to the local hill top areas.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Pontedera. You could not walk there.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring bug spray. Quattro Gigli was a great find. It was about 15 minutes from the villa, very quaint. Food was awesome.
Directions:
Check-in is at the large estate where the vineyard is located.
Check In Out:
Check in and out were easy.

Richard, September

Overall:
It was very good. The place is very serene and peaceful. Anyone looking for some quality R&R should check themselves in here and stay for a long time.
Enjoyed Most:
The overall vibe is phenomenal. It is very well kept and it is in a great remote location. The pool is very nice and the staff is very polite and very attentive.
Enjoyed Least:
If I had to pick something, it would be that there aren't many walking trails from the property.
Surrounding Area:
Like the property it was picture-perfect - serene and peaceful.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montopoli is the nearest small town. It is not an 'easy' walk. Technically you can walk to any place, but I would recommend renting a car if you plan to stay at this property.
Tips or Restaurants:
Rent a car with a GPS. Food overall is good - eat in Montopoli. We had a lovely dinner at 'Quattro Gigli'; it is a great little hotel and a phenomenal restaurant.
Directions:
Bring a GPS.
Check In Out:
Our host Valentina was the nicest, most polite host I've ever had at any of the hotels I've ever stayed at.

Sapan, September

Overall:
Comfortable and pleasant.
Enjoyed Most:
The pool was excellent. The air conditioning in the rooms worked very well. The property was large which allowed for early morning jogs. Went to a nice wine tasting right on the property. Had a chef cook dinner one night. It was delicious!
Enjoyed Least:
The dishwasher hardly worked. There were no washcloths. It could have been a bit cleaner upon arrival.
Surrounding Area:
It was easy access to a supermarket and the highway.
Nearby Events or Locales:
There was a town about 1 kilometer away, walking distance, with a great gelateria that was open late.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bringy salt and pepper, dish towels, washcloths, pool towels,

Overall:
The property was better than we expected. We were very pleased with it. There were 3 other families in the surrounding apartments, however when you were in your personal outdoor space, it was extremely private. The pool was perfect, and being on the top of a mountain made the 90 degree heat quite pleasant.
Enjoyed Most:
The apartment was super easy to keep clean! It was very low maintenance in that respect. Also, the air conditioning worked very well.
Enjoyed Least:
The beds were not so great...although when I made mention of this at the front desk, they had a fluffy mattress pad delivered the same day...which really helped. Additionally, the dishwasher didn't wash so well...One last item was the TV...there were only 3 English speaking channels. Watching TV at night was not an option.
Surrounding Area:
The area was perfect...30 minutes to Livorno, 30 minutes to Pisa, and about 45 minutes to Florence. Day trips were super easy!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Montopoli was the closest town...you had to drive there, and they were really skinny roads. This was a very small town, but did have a few restaurants as well as a great bakery and butcher shop with the best prosciutto I have ever tasted! Each morning, the baker would arrive around 8:15 with bread and breakfast pastries still warm from his shop. This was such a treat!
Tips or Restaurants:
We brought a portable speaker system for our iPod...it was perfect...bring a computer with DVD's for the kids...we wish we had brought more as there were only 3 English speaking channels available.
Directions:
We rented a car from EuropCar with a GPS. The GPS took us a different way once we were off the highway, but it did get us directly to the front gate.
Check In Out:
Make sure you check in first...then head out to the supermarket for food...we did the food shopping first...and there was hardly any room in the car for us!

Monica, August

Overall:
The pool was beautiful and very well keep.
Enjoyed Most:
The view and the spacious villa.
Enjoyed Least:
The showers where very small. They had everything you needed except for pool towels and they didn't want you to take regular bath towels to the pool. We did not know this so we didn't bring any pool towels.
Surrounding Area:
It was beautiful and the tree lined street and wilderness you had to drive through to get to the villa was wonderful.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Capanne, and yes you could walk it, but it would be a very long walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
The best restaurant we found was Quatro Gigli in Montopoli and it was very good. even excellent. Bring beach or pool towels as they are not provided and they ask you not to bring the regular towels to the pool. Don't forget the bug spray for yourself at night, we got really bitten up at night.

Kathy, August

Overall:
It was our first experience on our own so I have nothing to compare it to. There were 5 friends, middle-aged women, driving in Italy and we had a ball!! Living in that villa was a dream come true for all of us. We also loved our stay in Riomaggiore at the Hotel Argentina. It was located at the top of the village, beautiful view but the walk up to it is not for the faint!
Enjoyed Most:
So much that we loved, the views, the tree-lined drive, beautiful roses at the entrance way. Of course the villa.
Enjoyed Least:
Can't think of anything I didn't like.
Surrounding Area:
The small towns and the people!!
Nearby Events or Locales:
There were not any towns within walking distance. the nearest small town was Capanne. We found an alimentari run by Maria. Her English was better than our Italian!
Tips or Restaurants:
Suggest you bring electrical converters. We shopped for our supplies and food and we enjoyed going to the local stores. Did find very few locals who spoke English, so bring a good Italian dictionary! The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, glassware etc. We cooked most nights but would recommend Montevecchio Restaurant for food and setting!

Barbara, May

Enjoyed Most:
The location was convenient, easily accessible from the highway and an easy drive to nearby cities, including Florence, Pisa, Lucca. Other parts of Tuscany to the South are a much longer drive, but still a reasonable distance for day trips.
Enjoyed Least:
The property would be a perfect ten with the addition of a few other amenities such as a Jacuzzi, a fitness area, and even a spa.
Surrounding Area:
An excellent supermarket in Pontedera was a tremendous resource for food as well as other non-food items.
Nearby Events or Locales:
There are several small towns nearby, but none you can walk to. Nor is there any reason anyone would want to walk to these towns, which are mostly residential.
Tips or Restaurants:
We did not visit the local restuarants and feel that they really don't cater to the tourisits. We opted to visit the retaurants in the major cities we visited. It would be nice if the property managers provided menus of the local retaurants.
Check In Out:
The property should provide specific wrriten instructions for the various appliances including the washerdryer. In addition, I suggest the property offer its wines and other products available for purchase upon check-in and throughout the stay.

Anthony , July

Overall:
New, lovely interior on a beautiful piece of property (winery).
Enjoyed Most:
The peacefulness, the view of valley from pool, and the tour of the winery.
Enjoyed Least:
No laundry directly on site (have to drive 1/4 of mile and laundry machine takes hours, though free!). Also the directions to the property were difficult.
Surrounding Area:
There were many restaurants in the small towns nearby.
Tips or Restaurants:
When you check in they give you list of nearby restaurants. There was a restaurant (known by the woman who deals with all rental properties) that was not on the list. The restaurant specialized in mushroom dishes (funghi) and was the best food we had in Italy. Incidentally, it was very reasonable as we ate for $110 for 7 people.
