Customer Reviews

Overall:
We had plenty of space to spread out and relax after a busy day of touring the city.
Enjoyed Most:
The location of the property was absolutely perfect...just a few minutes to walk to the Louvre, Tuileries garden, the Seine and great cafes, among other things.
Enjoyed Least:
Not really anything.
Surrounding Area:
I loved access to many of the great sites and enjoyed exploring the neighborhood.
Tips or Restaurants:
Don't need to bring anything - there were countless cafes in every direction that you would go in, including just a couple of steps from the apartment door.
Directions:
None - very easy
Check In Out:
Not really - easy to connect with Anabella who was very friendly and showed us around.

Lee, July

Overall:
We enjoyed staying at Rue de Verneuil and would stay there again.
Enjoyed Most:
Tranquility in a fabulous part of Paris. Just living in a very old Parisian building - very evocative!! Good music and reading material provided, including various tourist info.
Enjoyed Least:
The second bedroom was very ordinary although it had the advantage of an en suite bathroom. The kitchen was quite small but had everything we needed.
Surrounding Area:
Loved being opposite a gourmet ' deli' and boulangerie. Also close to shopping in Rue de Bac and so many cafes and restaurants. Of course, we loved the proximity to many of the sights of Paris.
Tips or Restaurants:
There were lots of restaurants to choose from. My advice would be to eat no earlier than 7.30-8pm and follow the locals!!
Directions:
We did not have any trouble finding the property, however, we waited for some time outside for the agent not knowing that she was the resident caretaker and was inside the building.

Sally, June

Overall:
Excellent! A perfect apartment to explore the museums and other locations that are all within walking distance.
Enjoyed Most:
Central location, large number of good shops, cafes etc. all virtually across the street and around the corner
Enjoyed Least:
Perfectly quiet spot except for the construction work that went on in one side of the building...
Tips or Restaurants:
Everything was good
Check In Out:
Lovely concierge!

Dr., January

Overall:
We really enjoyed staying in the apartment - it worked very well for 2 couples.
Enjoyed Most:
The location of the apartment is perfect - we used the Metro much less frequently than on previous trips. The apartment is not only very beautifully furnished, but thoughtfully arranged as well - eg. Side tables, music, kitchen items, bedside lights etc. it's obvious that the owner has actually lived in the apartment herself!
Enjoyed Least:
The en-suite bathroom in Bedroom 1 is very small Bedroom 2 is extremely small with very inconvenient clothes storage for an adult couple.
Surrounding Area:
Saint Germain is a lovely area - close to cafés, restaurants, markets, specialty shopping and many of the main attractions in Paris.
Directions:
We found it very easy to find the property.
Check In Out:
Annabella was delightful - Check in/Check out process was trouble free.

Lorraine, September

Overall:
We loved this apartment! The location, the quiet, the courtyard, the property manager, the store nearby, the cafes, etc. Everything was perfect! The apartment isn't too big and the location is just great!
Enjoyed Most:
The location is excellent! So close to many, many things. Paris is such a great walking city anyway, but this apartment was a lovely place to start and end the day.
Enjoyed Least:
We honestly can't think of anything we didn't like about the property! One of the bedrooms has two small (twin-like) beds, so it might not be the best apartment choice for two couples staying long-term, as one couple would have the larger bedbedroom. The smaller bedroom does have a much larger bathroom and shower however!
Surrounding Area:
There is a great little store across the street for grocery essentials, a ton of cafes and restaurants, and excellent location for walking the city to see the sites.
Tips or Restaurants:
The kitchen is equipped with everything you will need in terms of dishes/utensils. There are also many guidebooks on the shelves!
Directions:
We found the apartment on our own map first, and then printed it off with a circle around the location and the address listed at the top to give to our cab drivers. No one ever had trouble finding it! A good map of Paris will serve you well!
Check In Out:
Although the property manager doesn't speak English, she was incredibly kind and helpful. We had a friend of ours from Belgium in town who speaks French and helped arrange our check out process, which was helpful, but not necessary.

Andrea, September

Overall:
We like the property very much. We had stayed there before.
Enjoyed Most:
It feels like our home in Paris.
Surrounding Area:
Shops were friendly (little grocery store and fruit stand). Also there are some very good small resturants near by.
Tips or Restaurants:
Walk the streets around the apt. As my wife says, if it looks good, it is good (restaurants). We didn't cook much except breakfast but found the kitchen very well equipped.
Directions:
Just took a cab from the airport.

Philip, May

Overall:
This was a repeat visit for us. We love the apartment, and it was as excellent as always.
Enjoyed Most:
The location, the comfort and space of the apartment, and the decorating and furnishings.
Enjoyed Least:
The bathroom for the main bedroom is a little small and would be greatly improved if there were somewhere to hang a couple of towels to dry.
Surrounding Area:
The proximity to the Musee d'Orsay and other sights, the quiet and atmospheric surrounding streets (which were convenient to many areas but largely away from tourists), the specialty food shop across the street
Tips or Restaurants:
We recommend the restaurants Le Petit Cour and La Mediteranee and the specialty food shop across the street (don't remember the name).
Directions:
The directions were fine.
Check In Out:
Annabella, the keyholder, was very nice and helpful. She does not speak English, though, so it's very helpful to have at least one person in your group who can speak French!

Nora, December

Overall:
We thought everything about the apartment was perfect. The "view" was of the inner courtyard, which meant the apartment itself was bright and very quiet. Very spacious and comfortably furnished living room and master bedroom with very French character. Well-equipped kitchen. The photos on the website are completely accurate!
Enjoyed Most:
Its location could not have been better a couple of blocks from the Musee D'Orsay, a 5-minute walk across the Pont Royal to the Louvre, a 5-minute walk in the other direction to the Rue du Bac metro station. Close to excellent bistros, a great bakery and a Monoprix supermarket.
Enjoyed Least:
Somewhat confusing instructions connecting to WiFi (pronounced "weefee" there) and impossibly long password with a typo - but eventually we succeeded!
Surrounding Area:
One really felt as though one were living in an upscale Parisian neighbourhood. All of the amenities were close by. A couple of excellent restaurants - particularly "La Bonne Excuse" just up Rue de Verneuil - were a couple of minutes' walk away.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Central location in the 7th Arrondissement of Paris within easy walking distance to all the sights (except maybe Montmartre).
Tips or Restaurants:
With a supermarket and pharmacy nearby, there's no need to bring household items. Aadaptor(s) for European electrical outlets to charge phone or iPad should be brought, though presumably could be purchased there as well. Although the apartment doesn't have laundry facilities, there's a same-day wash-and-fold laundry down the street that charges 18 Euros for 2.2 kilos of clothes, so one needn't overpack! There is a large collection of recent English-language Paris guides on the bookshelf, so no need to bring guidebooks. In addition to "La Bonne Excuse", which was our favourite restaurant, on the other side of Rue de Verneuil was a good restaurant called "Six Mars" or something similar - a reference not to a date but to the southern French town where the owner came from (apparently) - on Rue St. Simon (just to the north of St. Germain and a block west of Rue du Bac) was a very nice restaurant popular with Parisian locals called "L'Affable".
Directions:
The directions were very straightforward. After one phone call, Annabella, the very friendly and helpful person on site, was there at the front door when our taxi pulled up. Unless one has a good French accent, one might want to practise pronouncing "Verneuil" so taxi drivers don't give you a blank stare it's "VAIR-noy" sort of!

David , October

Overall:
Fantastic! I hate to talk it up, because we want to rent it again and don't want it booked up. The kitchen for Paris is typical, small, but had everything you would want. The view was of the court yard, and we found it very pleasant. If you want a view of the Effie Tower than plan on doubling the price.
Enjoyed Most:
The location was fantastic. Fruit stand two doors down, bakery at the corner, cafe on the other corner, and a french deli four doors down, grocery store about two blocks, cheese shop in the next block and a chocolate shop next to that. Quiet, yet great little shops, perfect location to EVERYTHING. We walked from 10 in the morning till 10 at night, ate, walked, and absorbed the French life.
Enjoyed Least:
That I couldn't speak french and the "key holder" or property manager didn't speak English. I'm at fault, I am in her country I should at least speak some French.
Surrounding Area:
Easy walk to everything. Two blocks to the d'Orsay, four blocks to the Louvre, easy walk to the Arc de Triomphe, Latin Quarter, etc. etc.
Tips or Restaurants:
Very well stocked!! I suggest getting the "Paris Pass" as it saves lots of time -- no lines for you with this.
Directions:
Used a cab driver, he had no problem.
Check In Out:
Again easy. Being able to speak French would have been good, but the key holder and I both managed.

Ann, June

Overall:
Very good!
Enjoyed Most:
Its proximity to major museums (i.e., Musee D'Orsay, Rodin museum, Invalides, Napoleon's Tomb, etc.) , proximity to Metro stop, located in vibrant neighborhood (cafes, shops, bakeries, grocery, etc.). We liked the eclectic paintings, oriental rugs, and accent pieces throughout the apartment.
Enjoyed Least:
Furnishings, paint, etc. were a little "worn" and tired. The place needs to be "spruced up" with a little paint and polish. Closet space was adequate. Floors were "squeaky", which could wake your partner at night.
Surrounding Area:
The apartment is in a neighborhood that affords proximity to various shops --- everything from dry cleaners, florist, local cafe, bakery, patisserie, fromage shop, art studios, etc. We felt like we were "embedded" in the community . By the end of the week we were on a first name basis with several of the local merchants (who were very helpful). The Metro stop was within a 10-12 minute walk, the Seine 5-10 minutes and we felt safe walking around at night.
Nearby Events or Locales:
No small town within walking distance although we were able to easily take Metro and RER to Versailles and SRR train to Giverny without any problem.
Tips or Restaurants:
WiFi and internet in the apartment worked well but I would also bring a smart phone with international service.
Directions:
Download the "Paris" app to your smart phone. You can "drop a pin" to assist you in walking around the city. Very helpful.
Check In Out:
Check-in and Check-out were very efficient

Don, June

Overall:
Idyllic. Not a single issue. Very comfortable.
Enjoyed Most:
It is quiet and safe.
Surrounding Area:
Great location.

Brendan, June

Overall:
We loved staying at Rue de Verneuil.
Enjoyed Most:
The apartment was spacious and lovely. The courtyard was beautiful. The location was perfect for us--our favorite arrondissement .
Enjoyed Least:
It was all good.
Surrounding Area:
What is better than a neighborhood on the Seine, across from the Louvre and around the corner from the Musee D'Orsay?
Tips or Restaurants:
Our favorite neighborhood restaurant is cafe St Benoit on the Rue St. Benoit .
Directions:
We had no problem. We took a taxi from Orly.
Check In Out:
The key holder was not there to meet us as scheduled on arrival day; this was an inconvenience at the end of a very long travel day. Happily, everything worked out.

Karen, June

Overall:
We loved it! It's perfectly located--left bank near the Musee D'Orsay. We walked everywhere. We felt like we lived in Paris--You enter the apartment's charming courtyard through a huge rustic green door. The apartment looks out over the courtyard and we would occasionally see small children playing there. They were never loud--just adorable. Small supermarket down the street--as well as a wonderful bakery. Great restaurants within walking distance. So much better than staying in a hotel! The experience was unforgettable.
Enjoyed Most:
It was very quiet--slept well every night. Also, it was charmingly decorated. We have stayed in some very nice Paris hotels, but the apartment was so much more convenient and fun. We made our own coffee and breakfast each morning. It was so nice not having to wait for room service or worry about cigarette smoke! Also, the location allowed us to go out for a while, come back to rest in the huge living room, then go out again. We were close to everything. One time I needed to run back to the apartment from the Tuilleries to change shoes and it was so easy.
Enjoyed Least:
The apartment was a little cold (we were there the end of May). The old fashioned radiators didn't get it as warm as we wanted, but it was warm enough. We just wore layers and it was fine. The comforters on the beds keep you warm even though the room is cold. Also, we loved our on-site concierge, but she spoke very little English. Luckily my daughters speak French so it was fine.
Surrounding Area:
We were near everything! Plus there was great dining and shopping close to the apartment.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Not applicable--we were in Paris. We took two private tours--one to Giverny and one to Versailles.
Tips or Restaurants:
Cafe' Varenne in St Germaine de Pres Wonderful food, casual but elegant, friendly staff. Our favorite!
Directions:
We just used our phones--GoogleMaps. Easy.
Check In Out:
It all went very smoothly.

Susan , June

Overall:
We loved the apartment. It was the perfect size and we loved having our own place. The living room was great. The kitchen was a little small, but we still used it daily. We really liked it! It was so cute and nice!
Enjoyed Most:
We loved the living room.
Enjoyed Least:
The bedroom with two beds was a little small, but not a deal-breaker, since we would just hang out in the living room.
Surrounding Area:
There were great options. There were many restaurants that were delicious, a butcher, a cheese place, a bakery, and a mini market with fresh fruits and veggies daily. It was the PERFECT location. We were right next to Saint Germain de Pres, across the River from the Tuileries and the Louvre, a quick walk to the Ile de la Cite, and next to l'Orangerie. We couldn't have asked for a better location.
Tips or Restaurants:
We loved Cafe Varenne which was a ten minute walk in the Saint Germain de Pres area. Great little bistro full of locals and a great staff.
Directions:
We found it very easily! The property had a green door!
Check In Out:
It was very easy.

Andrea, June

Overall:
Very nice apartment.
Enjoyed Most:
The location and the quiet.
Enjoyed Least:
I liked it all.
Surrounding Area:
The closeness to museums, the river and public transportation.

Valeria, December

Overall:
I followed my Travel Advisor's suggestions regarding this apartment. I was very pleased with both the apartment and the location! Paris is beautiful with lots to see and do. It was a great experience for me and my children!
Enjoyed Most:
The location by far was optimal. There is a bakery on the corner, specialty food stores across the street, walking distance to the Louvre and the Seine River all in all you cannot beat where this apartment is located!
Enjoyed Least:
I really enjoyed the property and it was perfect for us. The complimentary hair dryer was very helpful to have; we loved it!
Surrounding Area:
The stores and neighborhood in general. All important needs were in walking distance and we felt very safe.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were in central Paris but we were a block away from the Seine River and the Orsay and Louvre Museums!
Tips or Restaurants:
Well, in the summer your suggestions for bug sprays, etc. would be key as there are no screens on the windows; that may be something you may wish to specify. Also, keep in mind that there is no microwave.
Directions:
We took a taxi; the address to specify upon arrival is indicated on the voucher. Take special note!
Check In Out:
The key holder is a sweet lady, but she does not speak English. Also, as you check in, perhaps have her show you how to get out of the complex and then re-enter with the key code. It was a small obstacle but she is wonderful and helped me quite a bit throughout the week!

Leslie , October

Overall:
The experience was great!! We had never rented an apartment in Paris and it made life so much more relaxed and convenient. I LOVED it!!
Enjoyed Most:
Location!! It was perfectly located in my favorite section of Paris.
Enjoyed Least:
The kitchen was tiny. Very efficient, but tiny.
Surrounding Area:
Love, love, love this area! It's in walking distance of all my favorite spots. Couldn't have a better location from my point of view.
Tips or Restaurants:
Can't think of any extra things to bring that wasn't on your list. FYI, I was thrilled there was a hair dryer in the apartment. Restaurants - best ever meal Au Moulin Au Vent. Expensive, but worth every penny. I used to go there every 6 months when I traveled for business and it's just as good as ever. Try the frogs legs!! Another favorite Mon Vieil Ami on Ile St Louis. Unusual food especially focused on amazing vegetables. Expensive again but well worth it. New discovery Cafe St Regis on Ile St Louis. Best onion soup I've ever had!! Everything we ate for lunch was delicious!! Mix of French and tourists but felt very French.
Directions:
We went by taxi from airport so no problem.
Check In Out:
Was extremely easy.

Olivia, July

Overall:
It was a great experience!
Enjoyed Most:
The location! It was absolutely the best of the best!
Enjoyed Least:
The view was not good at all! Was very bothered by not seeing the street and could not view the weather!
Surrounding Area:
The bakery, the fruit market, and the market across the street to get fresh cooked food! The big market was in walking distance, shopping and felt very safe!
Tips or Restaurants:
It would be helpful to have instructions in English about where to put the garbage and how to operate the oven. The apartment was very well-furnished to meet all our needs except a washing machine. Anabella was gracious to wash our clothes for a fee which was very reasonable!
Directions:
We used a shuttle service which was excellent!
Check In Out:
Anabella is so sweet and was trying very hard to communicate! We did not speak French and the only disadvantage we had was not being able to communicate with her!

Ginger, June

Overall:
Great location. The apartment is good for a couple.
Enjoyed Most:
Location and quiet.
Surrounding Area:
Easy walk to everything
Directions:
We had a driver.

Joy, May

Enjoyed Most:
The location is excellent, it is quiet and the living room is very comfortable.
Enjoyed Least:
The kitchen was cold, and the beds were hard.
Surrounding Area:
You could walk everywhere.

Patricia, February

Overall:
Fabulous. Charming apartment on a quiet street in a fabulous location.
Enjoyed Most:
The decor was inviting, casual, and very "French". Comfortable couches, hardwood floors, original art, and oriental carpets gave character to the apartment. We visited relatives staying at a Marriott in Paris, which felt very sterile in comparison.
Enjoyed Least:
Lack of view. The windows open onto the courtyard.
Surrounding Area:
Boulangerie, fromagerie, and delicatessen were 50 yards away. There were a variety of cafes and restaurants within 2 blocks of the apartment and a large grocery store 3 blocks away. The metro was conveniently close. The neighborhood was beautiful and very functional.
Tips or Restaurants:
You really don't need to bring anything extra. The apartment was very well furnished and supplied. We ate at Aux Charpentier, which was fabulous. Medium priced and very authentic menu with good service.
Directions:
We took a shuttle from the airport.
Check In Out:
I do not speak French, which is a problem, and the regular keyholder was on vacation. It made the check-in confusing. Perhaps, a written handout in English might be helpful for language-impaired visitors like myself.

Kathleen, January

Overall:
We liked the apartment and the area. The caretaker, Anabella, is very helpful.
Enjoyed Most:
The flat is very much our idea of a Parisian way of life.
Enjoyed Least:
A few days after we moved in to our apartment, the people in the flat above began renovations. Rentvillas was very good at finding us alternate accomodations within a few days. Editor's Note: The construction was completed Fall 2011.
Surrounding Area:
The location is awesome. Within a short walk to the Louvre, the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Sorbonne, etc.

Marek, October

Overall:
A very pleasant stay overall.
Enjoyed Most:
The location. Everything we needed was within a 5-minute walk.
Enjoyed Least:
The twin beds in the smaller bedroom were small and uncomfortable.
Surrounding Area:
It was so Parisian!

Huguette, September

Overall:
The whole process was easy and well spelled out. Nicole was very helpful. Annabelle was nice to deal with.
Enjoyed Most:
The location was superb and the cat in the courtyard was just what my daughter loved.
Enjoyed Least:
The apartment above us was uner construction done and it was unpleasant to hear them come in in the morning.
Surrounding Area:
There was a very good bakery at the end of the block and great shops all around.

Anne, July

Overall:
Wonderful slice of France. Quaint decor, wonderful location.
Enjoyed Most:
Location, location, location. Loved the Paris feel.
Enjoyed Least:
No washer or A/C. The weather was great when we were there (cool evenings), but on a hot evening the bedroom with twin beds might not get good cross ventilation.
Surrounding Area:
Everything you could want or need is just a short walk: museums, bakeries, wine shops, chocolate, cheese shops, and restaurants.
Tips or Restaurants:
The laundry around the corner is a drop off, not a laundromat.
Directions:
We took the train from the airport and the apartment is an easy walk from the d'Orsay train stop, even with luggage. You have to change trains at St Michel/Notre Dame to the "C" line.
Check In Out:
Anabelle is wonderful. She does not speak much English but has a great heart.

Lynn, June

Overall:
Our overall experience was great! The apartment was lovely, very comfortable for our family of 4, which includes 2 young adult children.
Enjoyed Most:
The location and convenience of local amenities. Annabelle was delightful! It was quiet and peaceful!
Enjoyed Least:
Lack of a view
Surrounding Area:
We liked the convenience to the grocery store, Seine river, Louvre, Metro station, etc.
Nearby Events or Locales:
St. Germain.
Tips or Restaurants:
The apartment was well stocked. I don't feel it lacked anything.
Check In Out:
The code to the main door would be helpful to know, as we were stuck outside on the sidewalk. We were initially unable to reach Annabelle, but fortunately we snuck in with the UPS guy.

Chris , June

Overall:
We had a wonderful experience in this apartment.
Enjoyed Most:
It was roomy, quiet and in a great location.
Enjoyed Least:
The second bedroom was a little small.
Surrounding Area:
Excellent selection of shops for everyday living, a wide selection of restaurants, 2 nearby metro stops, and a central location for sightseeing.
Tips or Restaurants:
The last renters and/or owners were nice enough to leave toilet paper, soaps, shampoos and kitchen cleaning supplies. We especially liked Les Ministeres and di Como on Rue de Bac.

David, April

Overall:
The villa was perfect! We really enjoyed having separate bathrooms for my wife and our adult daughters. The living room was quite spacious and had excellent internet connections. We were close to the subway, the Orsay and Louvre. Had a great tim.e
Enjoyed Most:
The location. Very central in Paris.
Enjoyed Least:
No real view, but offset by extreme quiet at night.
Surrounding Area:
We visited 9 museums and 4 tourist sites in 7 days. All by subway or foot. Couldn't have done it from any suburban hotel location.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were in the center of Paris.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring plenty of money - Paris is expensive, but lots of fun!!
Directions:
We took a taxi from the airport - 50 Euros. Dropped us at the door. Caretaker was friendly and helpful, but limited English.

Verne, March

Overall:
Fabulous- it exceeded our expectations!
Enjoyed Most:
Location and amenities. Annabella was very helpful.
Enjoyed Least:
WiFi did not work. Editor's Note: The owner fixed it by calling the Telecom Helpdesk. Future clients should let the caretaker know if this happens, again. January 2011.
Surrounding Area:
Everything was so convenient. Terrific resources nearby, good shops, food and restaurants. Also, situated very near everything we wanted to see.
Tips or Restaurants:
Definitely bring an umbrella in winter!
Directions:
We took shuttle recommendations which were excellent.
Check In Out:
All went very smoothly, except Annabella was only expecting two, not four. Situation corrected easily.

Sharon, December

Overall:
Very good. The apartment was wonderful!!!
Enjoyed Most:
Location -- close to major streets and attractions but on quiet street and interior courtyard. Well appointed and roomy.
Enjoyed Least:
The interior courtyard has no charm, but it IS quiet. EXCEPT that workers started hammering and drilling early in the morning, doing maintenance and repair on the fronts of other apartments in the courtyard. This is the second time that we've experienced constuction work during our stay here.
Surrounding Area:
Location is perfect, which is why the worker disruptions were so disappointing.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring earplugs and a sound machine - in case there is construction going on. We brought both.

Lynn, June

Overall:
Our experience overall was very good.
Enjoyed Most:
Location. Very quiet and peaceful, and convenient to restaurants, attractions, and metro.
Enjoyed Least:
Very little not to like, although, we did not have use of the internet or phone during our stay, which did complicate our plans. Annabella did contact the cable service, but they were unable to repair it during our stay.
Surrounding Area:
Shops, Eric Keiser Bakery, general convenience and feeling of safety.
Tips or Restaurants:
"Cinq Mars" excellent and in the neighborhood. Also "Mon Vieil Ami" delicious in the Latin Quarter

Maurice, May

Overall:
We had a great time at Rue de Verneuil. It is very well located very close to Musee D'Orsay and about two blocks from the nearest Metro station - Rue de Bac. The flat is in excellent shape and the kitchen appears to be recently renovated. Two en suite bathroom-showers were very nice. The kitchen is small compared to US standards, and the shower in the master bedroom is a bit snug. But, for Europe, the flat is plenty abundant. Annabelle was extremely nice and very helpful. She speaks very little English, but we speak French well enough, so that was not an issue. Overall, we highly recommend Rue de Verneuil.
Enjoyed Most:
Spaciousness, location, en suite bathrooms.
Enjoyed Least:
Renter-owner upstairs kept very late hours, and the floors are a bit creaky, so we could hear him walk around into the wee hours of the morning.
Surrounding Area:
Lots of great patisseries, cheese shop, good restaurants and bistros. Two grocery stores within a block walk - one is the smallest grocery store I have ever been in - they had all that we needed, including a good wine selection, but the single aisle was very narrow. Very close to a Metro station. Excellent location.
Tips or Restaurants:
The patisserie down the street, Eric Kayser, is excellent for morning coffee-pastries and for a sandwich on the run. Be sure to bring at least one and preferably two electricity converters -- we had two and were glad that we did.

David A, March

Overall:
This was our third visit to Rue de Verneuil and while we love the location, the apartment needs a few updates.
Enjoyed Most:
Location.
Enjoyed Least:
Noise from upstairs tenant. We slept with ear plugs for several nights and even so resorted to banging on the ceiling at one point because the music penetrated the plugs!. Unfortunately, renovations were going on in the apartment next door, so that combined with the noisiest neighbor I have ever encountered, made for a long 10 days.

Anthony And Millie, February

Overall:
The time at Rue de Verneuil was wonderful. The area was safe with everything we could have wanted and easily accessible. The apartment was a comfortable place to return to. We could go out or eat in, nice option!
Enjoyed Most:
We appreciated the clean, bright apartment. Annabelle is the best. Loved Garfield too. We also appreciated the wireless internet access.
Enjoyed Least:
This is so minor. There were no sheets on one of the beds.
Surrounding Area:
Absolutely everything! Shopping, restaurants, groceries, brasseries, patisserie, ATM, easy Metro access. Everyone was so nice. Fabulous neighborhood!
Tips or Restaurants:
We found we didn't need most of what had been suggested. The best suggestion was to check out the apartment before going out and buying things. We took Paris Shuttle to and from the airport. It was easy and much more convenient and cheaper than a taxi. One member of our group chose the taxi option. Also, I would suggest pre-purchasing the Paris Museum Pass via the internet. Both shuttle arrangements and museum passes are available on the Paris Shuttle website. All dinners we had in the neighborhood were delicious!
Check In Out:
Annabelle met us immediately. She explained everything. We easily arranged our check out with her. Very low-key and easy.

Cecilia, October

Overall:
Convenient and secure location with access to restaurants, museums, metro, etc. Annabelle, the caretaker, was very helpful.
Enjoyed Most:
Location and plenty of space in the apartment for two people. After a day of touring, it was nice to come back to the apartment each evening and enjoy a glass of wine in a peaceful setting. It was also convenient in the morning to enjoy coffee with fresh croissants from the very nearby bakery!!
Enjoyed Least:
Although the apartment is large, it is more ideal for two adults with children versus four adults. The floor in the master bedroom is rather creaky and could use some attention. The drain in the master bath was very slow.
Surrounding Area:
Convenient to everything.
Tips or Restaurants:
Enjoy the neighborhood as there are plenty of restaurants, bakery, grocery stores, etc. within walking distance.
Directions:
We took a taxi from Etoile and taxi driver took us directly to apartment.

Leroy, October

Overall:
The apartment was very well located.
Enjoyed Most:
Location!!
Enjoyed Least:
Very small second bedroom! Needs some "sprucing up," such as painting.
Surrounding Area:
The shops, cafes and sites.
Tips or Restaurants:
No need to bring anything, it is all there for you... restaurants behind the apartment serve wonderful food.
Directions:
Taxi took us there from the airport -- no problems.
Check In Out:
Would have been helpful if Annabella had spoken English, but she was very sweet.

Karen , September

Overall:
Excellent. We loved it. This is the 4th apartment we have rented through Rentvillas and have been pleased with all of them.
Enjoyed Most:
Location, location, location. We could walk to the Louvre, Orsay, L'Orangerie, and other major sites, and were near various bus stops to take us farther afield. The apartment itself is quiet, clean, tastefully furnished, with a kitchen well-stocked with dishes, glasses, cookware, etc.
Enjoyed Least:
There was nothing to dislike.
Surrounding Area:
An easy walk to St. Germain Boulevard, Tuilleries, interesting shops and cafes.
Check In Out:
Both check-in and check-out were easy. Annabella couldn't be nicer. She is charming, pleasant, and helpful. Fortunately, my husband speaks more than passable French so dealing with her was fine, but the fact that she doesn't speak any English might be a problem for some.

Mary Lou, September

Overall:
The experience overall was sensational for my daughter, her son, a college student, and me. The decor of the apartment is beautiful. The neighborhood is the best. Our stay was great.
Enjoyed Most:
Location. Location. Location.
Enjoyed Least:
Not enough time to stay longer.
Surrounding Area:
We were close to all the sights. The shops in the area. The French people.
Tips or Restaurants:
Restaurant find: Cafe de Lettres on Rue de Verneuil, past Rue du Bac. Fun atmosphere Excellent lunch specials.

Ellis, July

Overall:
Fantastic! The apartment was so conveniently located, quiet and quite roomy. I can't imagine we could have had a better rental. Seriously!
Enjoyed Most:
Sometimes the pace of our visit and the places we went were wonderfully, of course stimulating and even a little hectic. Then we would return to our little oasis in the midst of everything and unwind. And Annabella was so welcoming and friendly...it felt like we were "home".
Enjoyed Least:
OK, the bathroom in the master bedroom was a little tight but the one off the twin bedroom was great. It might have been nice to have a washer-dryer.
Surrounding Area:
The museum D'Orsay was right down the street! The Louvre across the river. The shops were interesting to peek into. Plenty of everything. Location was perfect!
Directions:
Took the train from the airport. The station was a block or two from the property.

Tess, May

Overall:
Just what we hoped it would be - living like the locals! We became on first-name terms with the shop proprietors and were very sad to leave.
Enjoyed Most:
The fact that the owners had left it just like a home, with lovely linen, cutlery, crockery, and easy access to the Internet.
Enjoyed Least:
There was nothing at all not to like!
Surrounding Area:
The fact that we were right in the centre of the city and could walk to absolutely everything we wanted to see. This was the main reason we rented this property.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We did not venture out of Paris on this occasion.
Tips or Restaurants:
Everything was supplied which was a job - we replaced essentials such as toilet paper!when we left. Literally dozens of great restaurants surrounding the apartment - Cinq du Mars was probably our favourite.
Directions:
Very easy to find, taxi drivers knew exactly where the street was.
Check In Out:
Annabelle, the caretaker, was marvellous - she spoke no English, but this was not a problem as we speak a little French. She was unfailingly helpful.

Dee And Rod, May

Overall:
This was our second visit to Rue de Verneuil and it was just as good as we remembered.
Enjoyed Most:
The location. The 7th is our favourite neighborhood.
Surrounding Area:
Cafes, pace of life, galleries, people watching.
Tips or Restaurants:
There is a small Italian restaurant around the corner next door to the boulangerie called Taverna Degli Amici at 16 Rue de Bac that was just lovely. 35 Ouest Michelin 1-star is literally next door to the entrance of the apartment. The brasserie across the street - on the corner of Verneuil and de Bac is great for cafe creme and croissants.
Directions:
We took a taxi and were familiar with the area, so had no problems.

Anthony And Millie, April

Overall:
C'etait une merveille! Wonderful!!
Enjoyed Most:
Its elegance and its touch of French taste.
Enjoyed Least:
If I should find a limit I should only say that the hall-kitchen area was a bit under heated.
Surrounding Area:
I already knew all about it that is why when I found you rented an apartment right there I tried to make sure I could have it right away.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We had all the central area right there and we could reach any specific site very easily by walking and by using transports
Tips or Restaurants:
I wanted to leave a gift to the house and its Italian owners but the only things we left were some good food in the fridge and some Italian magazines on design.
Check In Out:
All was perfect - the concierge, Annabelle, was so kind efficient and discreet.

Daniela, January

Overall:
We loved the apartment. It suited our needs perfectly, since we were traveling with our two daughters, ages 15 and 20.
Enjoyed Most:
The apartment is peaceful and quiet, has simple but lovely furnishings, and was a perfect haven on a trip to Paris. The living room was so comfortable -- we enjoyed hanging out at the end of a busy day. Having two bathrooms also made things much more comfortable.
Enjoyed Least:
The shower in the master bedroom had a very slow drain.
Surrounding Area:
The surrounding area -- the 7th arrondissement -- is beautiful and centrally located. The location was perfect. There were great bakeries and cafes nearby, as well as lots of small specialty shops.
Tips or Restaurants:
La Petit Trouquet Bastide de L'Odeon
Check In Out:
Annabella is extremely nice. She does not speak English, though, so having a French speaker there, our older daughter, was a big help.

Nora, December

Overall:
We love this property - this is our second visit and it works great for us.
Enjoyed Most:
The location is perfect - so convenient to everything.
Enjoyed Least:
There's nothing not to like.
Surrounding Area:
The neighborhood is quiet and has anything that you would need.
Directions:
We took a cab from the airport.

Elaine, November

Overall:
Overall experience was very pleasant.
Enjoyed Most:
It was very comfortable and pretty.
Enjoyed Least:
Not much of view.
Surrounding Area:
Food stores were great, lots of good, close restaurants.
Tips or Restaurants:
Kitchen was well stocked... bring napkins, also soap

Philip, September

Overall:
We had a lovely stay. The apartment is beautiful and convenient. The court yard is also beautiful, with very well kept plants. A neighbor told me that the building is an old elegant private mansion, one of the most notable on the Rue de Verneuil. The concierge was friendly and helpful, and there was even a courtyard cat named Garfield.
Enjoyed Most:
The location - In the heart of the Left Bank.
Enjoyed Least:
There was construction upstairs, with hammering and drilling over our heads during breakfast, but this is kind of thing that can't be helped.
Surrounding Area:
We loved its location in the middle of the Left Bank antique galleries. It was close to the Pont des Arts, to the Louvre and Tuileries, and to the Left Bank fashion district. It was convenient for food shopping, restaurants, and the metro.
Tips or Restaurants:
Enjoy yourself!
Directions:
I was already pretty familiar with the area, and Rentvillas sent very good directions.
Check In Out:
Annabelle, the keyholder, was very helpful.

Leslie, September

Overall:
We were pleasantly surprised with the apartment. The description and photos on the Internet gave us a great idea of what we were getting into. We would return..
Enjoyed Most:
Spacious living room and and bedrooms.
Enjoyed Least:
Slow drains.
Surrounding Area:
Great neighborhood. Excellent shopping.

Claiborne, July

Overall:
We had a fabulous time! The property manager, Annabella, was a doll! The apartment was in the perfect part of town for everything we wanted to do. The neighborhood had a fantastic bakery, wine shop, and small markets for all our meals when we ate in. We got to know all the local merchants, and found them to be so helpful and delightful. We hope to return at some point and will plan to stay at Rue de Verneuil!
Enjoyed Most:
The location is fantastic and we loved the apartment itself. The layout was perfect for four, two of them being teenage girls! The decor was lovely and very comfortable.
Enjoyed Least:
The floor squeaked quite a bit in the bedroom, and the downstairs neighbors complained.
Surrounding Area:
We enjoyed the local bakery the most, but everything on the street was fabulous! The wine merchant was so sweet to us. He helped us arrange for a taxi to the airport and allowed us to use his cell phone as a contact number since our phones didn't always work. He had great champagne too! The produce market next door had the sweetest strawberries and the owners were delightful. The Proxi market down the street had everything we needed and the owner was adorable to us. He would throw in a chocolate when we shopped.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Everything was in walking distance. We walked to the D'Orsay, the Louvre, the train station to Versailles, the Seine, numerous shops, cafes and bakeries, the ATM and the pharmacy were next door.
Tips or Restaurants:
The Square was a great restaurant find. Great food, good prices, great service. You will need to shop for paper goods, and you may need to pay for linen service if you need more towels during your stay. Not a big deal at all.
Check In Out:
Annabella is always available. She was wonderful. Make sure you let her know how fabulous she is, she works hard!

Eve Marie, July

Overall:
Magical. The proximity of back-street life of the 7th Arr. with the easy walks to the Seine, Musee d'Orsay and so many other cultural and tourist sites made for a magic week.
Enjoyed Most:
The Rue de Verneuil apartment is situated on a courtyard in a 200-year oldr building on a quiet, historic street in the 7th Arr. Outside the door of the compound, the Rive Gauche pulses with life, shops are open they'll quickly get to know you, people meet for meals, and go about their business. Inside the compound, all is calm. The caretaker's family cat, a tiny tabby named Garfield, monitors comings and goings. A 5-minute walk takes you to the Musee d'Orsay, a 15-minute walk to the Louvre. To the east, on the Rue de Verneuil, near Rue de Saint Peres, is an apartment heavily decorated with graffiti, the home of Serge Gainsbourg. Gainsbourg a now deceased counter-cultural icon in France, still has fans who visit his former home to pay homage - a kind of French Graceland - but without the crowds
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing
Surrounding Area:
It was pure Paris, as I had heard it could be.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Paris - at this location - is on a very human scale that makes it like a small town.

Overall:
Great.
Enjoyed Most:
Location and quiet.
Enjoyed Least:
All good.
Surrounding Area:
Everything - Museums, galleries, cafes...

Michael, May

Enjoyed Most:
Good location. Friendly portiere.
Enjoyed Least:
Construction in apartment above. Hammering every weekday. Editor's Note: The construction was completed in January 2008.
Surrounding Area:
Lovely small restaurants.
Tips or Restaurants:
Check the cupboard before buying groceries. The last renters most likely have left some staples for you!

Monica, October

Overall:
Wonderful.
Enjoyed Most:
Fabulous location quiet, wonderful little street and neighborhood, easy access to museums. Apartment completely charming and a pleasure to return to.
Enjoyed Least:
A little small for 4 people since the 2nd bedroom is tiny. Kitchen cramped, but didn't really matter, since we ate most big meals out. Apartment had no real view except of the courtyard which was pleasant, but after a while you want a slightly bigger view.
Surrounding Area:
Loved the area! Quiet, felt like a real neighborhood. Close to museums, wonderful food shops to get cheese, wine, vegetables and fruit. Loved being out of the fray but within walking distance of the busy areas.
Tips or Restaurants:
Enjoyed Bistro de L'Universite, 35 Ouest. Couldn't stand Atelier Joel Roebuchon - over priced, trendy without merit

Mimi , June

Overall:
We had a wonderful stay and would recommend this unit for your stay in Paris. We commented to the owner that the coffeemaker didn't work properly and took hours for one pot. Other than that, everything was great. The keyholder, Annabelle, is very kind and efficient. However, she speaks absolutely no English.
Enjoyed Most:
Ideal location. Safe and easy to walk to all of the major sites. Also, it was very nice having a place that was quiet to escape to that felt like your home away from home.
Enjoyed Least:
Creaky wood floor in master bedroom and able to hear occupant in unit behind master only two mornings. Would have liked a view - unit windows face courtyard - however, it was nice to have it quieter vs. being on a street.
Surrounding Area:
Great neighborhood that was not too busy, close to shops and restaurants, safe to walk at all hours and perfect location to walk to the sites in Paris.
Tips or Restaurants:
My only suggestion is to bring a roll of toilet paper and bathroom toiletries. We needed to purchase a converter to access the Internet in the living room.

Elaine, June

Overall:
We really enjoyed the stay!
Enjoyed Most:
Location and quiet.
Enjoyed Least:
Lack of views.
Surrounding Area:
Lots. It's the 7th, after all.
Tips or Restaurants:
If you plan to use the Internet connection, bring an Ethernet cable. We could not get through the security for the wireless.

Michael, June

Enjoyed Most:
The location was superb - we were easily able to walk to convenient RER and Metro stations. Being so close to the Seine was perfect for accessing the Right Bank.
Enjoyed Least:
The smaller of the two bedrooms. Also, the water in the kitchen and in the first bathroom ran hot and then turned cold -- it was not consistent. Communicating with Annabel was very difficult as she doesn't speak English. However, there was a listing of pertinent phone numbers from the owner. During our last night at the apt., someone in the building had a very loud party, which woke us up at 11:30 AM.
Surrounding Area:
Again, the location
Check In Out:
Annabel was very punctual - our train into Paris was over 1 1/2 hours late, but we found an individual who spoke English and French -- he called Annabel to tell her of the delay. She greeted us at the door, in spite of the change in our arrival time.

Barbara, May

Enjoyed Most:
There were two things that were wonderful about this property. The first was that it is such a pretty place with beautiful furniture and paintings. It certainly felt like we were staying in a well-loved home rather than a rental property. The second perfect thing about this apartment is the location. We walked everywhere as it is so centrally located and in such a lovely neighborhood. I hope that I will be able to return to this apartment regularly.
Enjoyed Least:
I am sorry that the second bedroom is so small. But the ample ensuite bathroom helped to make up for the size of the bedroom.
Surrounding Area:
I loved looking out the beautiful, large windows into such a pretty courtyard. And the neighborhood where this apartment is located is such a non-tourist area, so one felt removed from the crowds and more connected to real Paris life.
Tips or Restaurants:
Go to Angelina's for breakfast. It is an easy walk from the apartment and is quiet and lovely at 930 A.M.

Patricia , January

Overall:
Everyone was very friendly. As others have said, Annabella, the concierge/keyholder, does not speak English, although some Portuguese, I learned. We found our high school level French adequate to communicate with her successfully. Also, we shopped frequently at the green grocer, boulangerie and other markets in the neighborhood. By the 2nd or 3rd time, we had become regulars and welcomed back each time with smiles. Finally, our French acquaintances came over one day and thought that they should come in from the suburbs of Paris to take this apartment for vacation. They thought it very nice - coming from a local's perspective.
Enjoyed Most:
The central location, yet extraordinarily quiet. If you wanted to stay close to home, everything you could possibly want restaurant-wise or grocery store-specialty shops are within one block. Museums, Metro stops, etc all within a short walking distance.
Enjoyed Least:
The second bedroom is very small, with two small twin beds and no windows directly in the room. Would have been nice to have a small washer-dryer.
Surrounding Area:
It's Paris! Right there - everything is possible!!
Tips or Restaurants:
We tend to do travel lightly and do frequent hand washing of small items of clothing. The towel warmers in both bathrooms were perfect for drying light, travel type garments overnight. So... bring items that dry quickly so you don't feel burdened looking for a laundry.

David, December

Enjoyed Most:
We loved this charming apartment. The rooms were mostly spacious and well lit, with good light for reading. It was pleasingly furnished with some lovely antique pieces and comfortable sofas and had a newly renovated kitchen and bathrooms. It was remarkably quiet most of the time, especially given the busy quartier in which it is located, and had large windows looking out over the pleasant courtyard. It was clean and well maintained. It was well equipped with a CD player along with some classical CDs and even a hair dryer. We didn't try the TV, but there was one.
Enjoyed Least:
The smaller of the two bedrooms was tiny and not well suited for two adults. It had no window, which made it stuffy on warm days. In cool weather it would be fine for 1 or 2 children or 1 adult who's not claustrophobic. The person on the floor above us stomped around and sometimes slammed things late into the night. She or he kept us up a couple of nights. We would have benefited from some information about the apartment and appliances and the neighborhood. The owners should be encouraged to develop a folder of information for guests.
Surrounding Area:
The location was fabulous. We walked everywhere. We were less than 2 blocks from the Musee d'Orsay and an easy walk to the Louvre, the Rodin Museum, and Boulevard St. Germain, and a pleasant longer walk to Notre Dame, the Pompidou Center, etc. The boulangerie on the corner made for an easy dash for croissants in the morning, and there were little grocery stores nearby. Rue de Verneuil, although in a very noisy quartier, is a quiet street with little traffic. Once in our apartment, it was peaceful, and I rarely heard any traffic noise.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring toilet paper unless you have time to go to the grocery store on Rue de l'Universite soon after your arrival. What you'll find in the apartment in the way of dishwasher detergent and the like will probably depend on what the last tenants left, but these can be purchased there.

Dianne, September

Overall:
Fantastic.
Enjoyed Most:
Close to everything - metro, museums, stores and restaurants.
Enjoyed Least:
Small second bedroom.
Surrounding Area:
Everything, friendly shop keepers, etc.
Tips or Restaurants:
Could not find a bad restaurant,
Directions:
The cab driver had no problem, and after that it was sooooo easy to use the metro to get everywhere.

Earl, September

Overall:
Absolutely wonderful - would definitely rent again.
Enjoyed Most:
Without a doubt, our central location, close to the river, Musee D'Orsay, the bridges, and St. Germain were the highlights. The accommodations were excellent, with the exception of the smaller bedroom, and no windows. However, that would be a minor factor. The kitchen was well-stocked with utensils, dishwasher, cleaning supplies, dish towels, etc. The apartment itself was very clean and there were plenty of clean, white towels. I would not bother with bringing towels or facecloths.
Enjoyed Least:
As stated earlier, the smaller bedroom lacked a window, and the evenings were warm. A window would be have been great. Also, no "extra" toilet paper was evident. The regular housekeeper was on holidays and her cousin greeted us - we speak limited French, but I think the owner should leave additional instructions.
Surrounding Area:
What can I say? There is not enough space on this page to describe the surrounding area....the Musee D'Orsay, across from the Louvre, the boulangerie across the street, the Bistros in the neighborhood, the wonderful but expensive fruit and veg stand right beside the apartment, the central location to some of the best sights in Paris, close to everything, and walking distance from the Eiffel Tower, Napolean's Tomb, Pont D'Alexandra, ....All Wonderful!
Nearby Events or Locales:
We were in the middle of Paris - 7th arrondissement! What location could be more perfect.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring extra toilet paper, and soap, shampoo, etc. Also coffee, cereal, anything that you require for breakfast in the event that stores are closed, which they often are. The owner obviously takes great pride in her apartment - it shows! Would recommend that she leave written instructions, in both English and French, on how to use the television, and also to ask guests to use the tablecloths and cover. We found it and used them both, but quite by accident. However, I think that with such a wonderful antique, people should be using both.

Martha, August

Enjoyed Most:
The location is perfect. The ambiance and feel of the apartment are great. It is absolutely quiet.
Enjoyed Least:
The bed is quite hard and took a few nights to get used to. We were a couple staying in a two bedroom, two bath apartment and the extra space was wonderful. However, the second bedroom is small and would be hard to use for any but small children.
Surrounding Area:
Paris. What more can you say? In the neighborhood, the proximity to what you need is remarkable: produce shop, bakery, rotisserie shop, prepared food shop, grocery store, dry cleaner, and restaurants are all within 200 feet of the apartment.
Check In Out:
Annabella was extremely helpful and friendly.

Erik, July

Overall:
It was a sweet French apartment and we loved being there. It was wonderful to come home to at night, and the bed was surprisingly comfortable.
Enjoyed Most:
The location and privacy were both excellent - we walked two blocks to the Seine, and another two blocks to the Musee d'Orsay. It only took us ten minutes to either the Metro, or Tuileries where we met our tours. Also, a short walk to our favorite spots in St. Germaine de Pres.
Enjoyed Least:
The second bedroom and bath were fine for our teenage granddaughters, but twin beds would not accommodate another couple easily on a future visit.
Surrounding Area:
We enjoyed walking 12 block to the Patisserie for mini-quiches for our breakfast, also use of the mini-market for essentials. Brasseries and shops and necessities were so close at hand, and we loved being so close to the Seine, in the middle of Paris.
Tips or Restaurants:
We had teenagers with us so we didn't do a lot of fine dining. For American fare we enjoyed Joe Allen, and also a little Italian place near the Metro at Rue de Bac. They loved the hot chocolate at Cafe Flore, and we enjoyed an upscale meal one night at Gare - in an old train station. It was very trendy and fun. The brasserie across from Notre Dame, near the bridge, was superb.
Check In Out:
Annabelle was on vacation so Sonja checked us in. She was nice but couldn't communicate very well. She misunderstood the process and didn't give us the envelope that contained a note from the owners, and suggestions for our stay, until the night before we left! I think she thought she was returning a deposit to us, but in fact she didn't collect one in the first place. We could have used some of this information at the beginning of our stay - things like how to work the TV, restaurant suggestions, notes about Paris etc.

Eloise, April

Overall:
Please convince the owners to supply extra toilet paper. For the price of the property, having to purchase your own TP is inappropriate. Also,
Enjoyed Most:
Location was terrific. Also, the care with which the owners decorated the place. Two of the three of us had food poisoning for a few days and the beauty of the apartment made it easier to stay inside. Bathrooms were terrific too and it was nice to have two of them.
Enjoyed Least:
The people upstairs were pretty noisy. Perhaps they were vacationers like we were?
Surrounding Area:
We love Paris and this location was perfect.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bistro du 7eme was our favorite "find" near Ecole Militaire. We also love Bofinger and the prix fixe menu is reasonable. A small microwave would be a welcome addition, especially given all the high-end delis in the neighborhood.

Lynn, March

Overall:
We were extremely pleased with the apartment. and it was much better than we expected. It is very comfortable and furnished with antiques and original works or art. The owners left a very nice note welcoming us to the apartment and giving us the names and numbers of helpful services. We expected the 2nd bedroom to be small, which it was, but the bathroom was quite large--bigger than the master bathroom. The kitchen is also small but extremely well equipped. It was perfect for preparing our morning breakfasts and an occasional light supper.
Enjoyed Most:
Perfect arrangement and size for 4--2 adults and 2 teenage children. Wonderful location--2 blocks from Seine and the Louvre just across the river. Two blocks from the Musee D'Orsay. Close to Germaine-des-Pres and the Latin Quarter. Local charcuterie, patisserie, fromagerie and other small markets within 1/2 to 1 block from apartment.
Enjoyed Least:
I can't think of anything we didn't like. Although this wasn't a problem for us, the walk up a curving staircase one flight with heavy luggage might be a deterrent for some.
Surrounding Area:
Centrally located to many museums and places of interest. The Louvre is across the Seine 2 blocks to Pont Royal and 1/2 mile to main entrance at pyramid and it is two blocks to Musee D'Orsay. A charcuterie is across the street, a patisserie 1/2 block way on Rue de Bac, a fromagerie 1 block away, dry cleaners 1 block away on Rue de Bac, restaurante Les Ministeres is 1 block way on Rue de Bac. Walking distance to Germaine-des-Pres, Latin Quarter, Musee Rodin and Les Invalides. A little further, but a wonderful walk to Ile de Cite and Notre Dame. Metro station Rue de Bac is about 4 blocks from the apartment.
Tips or Restaurants:
We brought toilet paper based on others suggestions but apartment was well stocked. Would suggest bringing some just in case. We also brought our own hand and bath soap. Towels were plentiful and the kitchen was well stocked. Anything else needed is within a short distance away. A restaurant recommended to us was Les Ministeres on Rue de Bac near the apartment where we had a wonderful dinner. Le menu was 33E per person. We also ate at several cafes on the Germaine-des-Pres. All food was wonderful, no matter where we ate.
Directions:
No problems.
Check In Out:
We took a shuttle to and from Charles de Gaulle airport to the apartment and it went very smoothly - Airport Connection. Annabella was delightful although we didn't have occasion to see her that frequently except when we were arriving and leaving. She offered her services of cleaning the apartment, if needed, for a modest fee.

Nancy, January

Overall:
Can't say enough positive. It was wonderful.
Enjoyed Most:
Everything! It was absolutely perfect. After a week there we hated to leave. it felt so much like home.
Enjoyed Least:
There really wasn't much not to like. If there is any negative it would be the small size of the second bedroom but even that wasn't a problem. Having two bathrooms was such a bonus.
Surrounding Area:
I have actually stayed on that street before and love the location - it is so convenient to everything - within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
The property was very well equipped. We actually ate in quite frequently. There is a produce market two doors from the property, a small market across the street, and grocery store on the block as well as a pastry shop on the corner.
Directions:
We used Paris shuttle which made our arrival very smooth - they met us at a designated point and took us directly there.
Check In Out:
Annabelle, the keyholder and manager of the building , was delightful and most helpful despite the fact that she does not speak any English.

Elaine, December

Enjoyed Most:
Wonderful location, close to Musee d'Orsay and St Germain de Pres. We walked to some very good restaurants. It is very tastefully decorated and very comfortable for two people.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing except that a very minor point there was only 3 wine glasses and we could have used a few more when we had friends over. There were no English language TV channels available and the pay TV had expired.
Surrounding Area:
The patisseries, Bon Marche for comfortable shopping and all those beautiful shops in the area to browse, lots of restaurants, being within a few blocks of the Seine, Musee d'Orsay, the Eiffel Tower is a good walk - and yet it is so private and quiet.
Tips or Restaurants:
The Vietnamese restaurant in Rue de Verneuil has an incredible wine list and very good food with very friendly and professional service.
Check In Out:
Some difficulty with the language as Annabella doesn't speak much English, but we're in France!!

Robert, September

Overall:
We would happily rent this Paris apartment again, it was well worth the money and made us feel part of the neighborhood. The owners clearly love this apartment and take VERY good care of it!
Enjoyed Most:
This apartment is very clean, a big plus for me, and decorated very tastefully. Also, the location is great - you can easily avoid the usual tourist haunts or be at the doorstep of any of them! in minutes.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing - the perceived drawbacks are part of the charm of being in the 7th in Paris! One small warning is listed below - see suggestions.
Surrounding Area:
The local cafes and brasseries, etc. After a couple of days we were treated like neighbors.
Tips or Restaurants:
Le Rouge Vif - a great little restaurant with a manic owner - a fun night! It is on the Rue de Verneuil 48, I think?. Opens at 8PM. Things to bring don't arrive assuming there is even toilet paper! There was none. After a long trip, this is something you don't want to encounter. Also, check that Annabelle will be around to help with cleaning, questions, and laundry - she left for a month the day after we arrived, and after traveling for 5 weeks, we were hoping for some laundry help. Previous renters had said she helped them out with this for a small fee. Instead, we paid a fortune at the cleaners and we live in Tokyo, so we are used to HIGH prices, but this was staggering!.

Anthony And Millie, August

Overall:
We would use this property again and recommend it.
Enjoyed Most:
Quiet and location.
Enjoyed Least:
Limited English-speaking property manager. There was no soap or toilet paper when we arrived.
Surrounding Area:
Location to everything
Check In Out:
Check in was a little rough because we had to wait in the courtyard for the housekeeper, and we were a little exhausted from our long trip. Check out was easy

Julie, July

Overall:
We would stay there again in a heartbeat. It was perfectly suited to our needs and exceeded our expectations.
Enjoyed Most:
The place is very classy. Plenty of antiques. Lots of thought put into the ambiance. The master bedroom, living room and one bathroom are pretty spacious. You know you are in the home of someone with taste. It has an authentic Paris feel, which is the whole point of staying there. Being in one of those courtyard complexes was wonderful.
Enjoyed Least:
Only caution is that the second bedroom is small. So the place can handle a couple or a couple with a child or two. Would not recommend four adults staying there. Part of the charm is part of the caution that there are antiques and the floors are finished with wax. So guests must be mindful of that. But it was easy to adjust to and added greatly to the ambiance. Kitchen is small, but it was fine for fixing a light breakfast.
Surrounding Area:
Everything. It's a lovely neighborhood filled with great shops, plus very good and affordable restaurants. We loved roaming around the neighbhood. Virtually everything we wanted to see and do around Paris was within walking distance. Close to Musee D'Orsay, the river, the islands and the terrific art galleries along Rue de Seine, and fairly close to the fabulous Jardin Luxemborg. The locale simply cannot be beat!
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring books, because it's a delight to read and listen to music when it's rainy. Bring comfortable walking shoes because everything is accessible. The owners supply tips about restaurants and shops. As for restaurants, there are several guidebooks in the apartment that proved reliable. It's also fun just wandering around, looking at menus, seeing whether there's a Zagat or other endorsement in the window, and scoping out whether the place has lots of patrons. If all that checks out, then live dangerously and try it out.
Directions:
We took a taxi from the airport. Getting there via mass transit might be a hassle.
Check In Out:
We were delayed due to traffic from the airport. Had to wait a little bit before the housekeeper showed up. Not really a problem, but also not exactly like checking into a hotel.

The apartment was more than we had expected. It was clean, well furnished, and suited our family of 4, perfectly. Probably the best thing about staying at the apartment was to return at the end of a busy day, and feel totally relaxed - play a CD with some of our favorite music, open a bottle of French wine, reminisce about the day's events, and feel that we were actually a part of Paris. We had visited Paris several times in the past, but never with the same relaxed happy feeling of staying in our own apartment, and not constantly surrounded by other tourists.
Enjoyed Least:
I must say that reading comments from previous renters on this web-site, I had a few concerns about their negative comments. Yes, the apartment building is old, and the original floor boards may squeak a little, but it was not a problem. The floor boards are nicely refinished, and covered with carefully selected rugs. In fact, the apartment has been furnished with some very nice antiques. The kitchen may be small, but has all the equipment needed, such as pots, pans, cutlery, corkscrew, wine glasses, dishes, oven, dishwasher, etc. - everything desired to prepare a snack or a meal. The lack of hot water has been corrected, and there was always enough hot water for showers for the 4 of us. My only negative comment would be that the inner courtyard walls and shutters were being repaired and painted during our visit - but, now it will be looking especially nice if you decide to rent the apartment.
Surrounding Area:
We discovered quickly that eating out in Paris is expensive. An evening meal for the 4 of us, which was adequate - nothing special, with a bottle of wine, and no coffee or desert came to nearly 150 euros, approx. 200 US dollars This could add up considerably for our 10 night stay. So we took advantage of the kitchen, and the excellent food shops in the same block as the apartment - a bakery, green grocer, small grocery store with inexpensive wines, a deli with meats, cheeses, pates, salads, roast chicken, and freshly prepared foods that you could pop into the oven for 20 minutes - and come out with a very good meal. With the coffee maker, breakfast was a cinch with delicious breads and pastries, fruit juice - we especially enjoyed bottled apricot nectar from the corner store, and eggs scrambled with fresh mushrooms. Have you ever used eggs that have the expiration date stamped on each egg? Just about everything needed was obtained within the same block, or around the corner.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Anywhere you walk in Paris is delightful.
Tips or Restaurants:
We brought some of our own towels along - but we didn't need them, as there were enough towels supplied. French TV is not very exciting - so pack some of your favorite CD's for the very good sound system. The player is in the large bedroom, but there are speakers in the living room. If you have never been to Paris, it a very easy city to explore. The Metro system is excellent, and will get you very close to anywhere you want to visit. We bought the Carte Orange pass for 15 euro, which is for unlimited rides on the metro, RER, or any bus - good for 7 days - but must be used beginning on Monday and ending on the following Sunday. If you can take only one guide book with you to Paris - I recommend the Rick Steve's guide book, Paris . It will answer most questions you may have - how to call from the US to France, or France to the US, how to get from the airport into Paris, about the Metro and RER, sights to visit, how to buy the Carte Orange, taxis, tipping, etc.
Directions:
We arrived at Charles DeGaulle Airport. Because there were 4 of us traveling, with luggage - we decided that we could not take a cab. We made very good connections by taking the RER directly into the city getting off at St. Michel. We then connected to RER line C, follow Correspondance - RER C. Go only one stop to Musee D'Orsay - and get off. Exit to street using escalator if you have luggage. It is an easy 5-minute walk to the apartment.
Check In Out:
Annabel is very nice and wants to be helpful - but does not speak English. Try to use key words, point, or use hard signals, and you can usually communicate with her. Usually what you need to know has been asked by other renters. It's not really a problem.

Overall:
I would request it on my next stay.
Enjoyed Most:
The location was fabulous.
Enjoyed Least:
They were doing work on the courtyard.
Surrounding Area:
How quaint and beautiful the area was.

Overall:
We loved our stay and plan to return.
Enjoyed Most:
It was very homey--decorated quite nicely and comfortably. We also enjoyed the convenient location.
Enjoyed Least:
The kitchen was not very convenient--the doors made it difficult to have more than one person at a time in the kitchen.
Surrounding Area:
We loved being close to the Louvre and the Orsay museums. It was a quiet, nice neighborhood.
Directions:
It was very easy to take the RER to the Orsay stop and walk the short blocks to the apartment.

Overall:
I give an unqualified recommendation for the rental of this property. It is a most lovely apartment, and obviously has received the care and attention of its owners. Note: It is not at all suitable for small children, given its period antique decor... It is incredibly close to major attractions and has a wonderful ambience. When I return to Paris, I'm renting this property again!
Enjoyed Most:
This was a most excellent place to stay -- it is within walking distance of nearly every Paris attraction, is close to great shopping, and has every amenity available to it. The property is simply beautifully decorated with period antiques. I felt at home, and felt pampered at the same time. It could not have been more convenient.
Enjoyed Least:
I have nothing negative to say about this property -- I would definitely go back!
Surrounding Area:
The surrounding area is an attractive arts and antiques district, a simple five-minute walk to the Louvre or the Musee d'Orsay. There were a French bakery and restaurants nearby, easy access to an ATM, and two small grocery stores were a stone's throw away. We walked everywhere -- only took one cab the whole time we were there.
Tips or Restaurants:
This proerty is very well equipped -- the only things I would have brought with me were coffee fixings for the morning, not because there weren't any of these items there -- there were -- but because I like my coffee a certain way.... We enjoyed the Chinese restaurant and the upscale Italian restaurant that are next door to this property.

Michele, March

Overall:
This was a delightful place to stay while in Paris and I would definitely recommend it. It was very special and we hope to return.
Enjoyed Most:
A terrific location, secure and central to all the major sights and metro. Many fresh food choices available within minutes of the property, including specialty stores and 2 small supermarkets. Many local brasseries and restaurants within a few minutes walk. Good quality appliances, including dishwasher, delightful decor and a peaceful location made for a relaxing time after long and weary days of walking. Annabel was very friendly and obliging. She purchased some basic food items prior to our arrival according to the list I had provided, and did some washing for us for 10 Euro per load. Her generosity in doing this for us was greatly appreciated.
Enjoyed Least:
The lack of laundry facilites. The tiny kitchen. A small microwave, milk jug and salt and pepper mills would be a welcome addition. It was difficult conversing with Annabel as she speaks no English and we spoke very little French.
Surrounding Area:
The availability of fresh food, from bakery items to wine, fresh fruit and vegetables, delicatessen and supermarket items. Automatic teller machines near the bakery. Walking along the river, St. Germain du pres, watching the fireworks on New Year's Eve from the Pont de la Concorde, interesting local shops.
Tips or Restaurants:
All kitchen utensils, dishwashing liquid, tea towels, crockery, cutlery is all supplied...even filter papers for the coffee machine. It was great. You will need to provide your own toiletries and toilet paper. I would recommend that the written instructions provided by the owner include location of the external rubbish bin, English instructions on how to work the TV, options for laundry facilities, and and phone numbers for an airport shuttle.

Enjoyed Most:
Location!
Enjoyed Least:
Could not easily control the heating.

Guy, November

Overall:
All 3 of us agreed that we would heartily recommend the apartment to anyone. We felt that it was definitely worth the money. It gave us a wonderful 9 days in Paris and an experience that was not to be forgotten! We would do it again gladly, only staying longer! I had stayed in a Rentvillas villa in Umbria a year and a half before and both experiences were excellent. Though one was rural and the other very urban, both were outstanding properties!
Enjoyed Most:
We loved everything! The location was ideal -- very centrally situated but extremely quiet and private. The living room and master bedroom were beautifully furnished and the other rooms were very nicely done. The kitchen was very compact and convenient. We really enjoyed the luxury of heated towel racks. It was immaculate and the ambience was marvelous. We quickly learned where to get our fresh fruit on the next block and where the nearby grocery store was located. We had 3 women friends staying there and all 3 were totally charmed by the apartment and everything about it. Annabelle was very gracious and welcoming and extremely helpful.
Enjoyed Least:
Just a small thing, but a washing machine and maybe a dryer? would have been nice - although, I'm not sure where even one would fit!
Surrounding Area:
The proximity to the Musee d'Orsay was wonderful. We used our museum tickets and walked there several times for shorter visits and then could return home to rest if we got tired. The little shops nearby were very convenient and had everything we could want to prepare meals. There were several restaurants in the vicinity so we didn't have to go far to get a meal when we didn't feel like providing our own.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We walked everywhere. The Boulevard St. Germain was quite close in one direction and the Seine in the other. We walked to many sites, including the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Cluny Museum, etc. The hop-on-hop-off buses L'Open Tour were handy to get an overview of the city. We also took the train to Giverny and found it quite easy and definitely worth doing!
Tips or Restaurants:
Wear sturdy walking shoes! We found that taxis were not interested in transporting us for relatively short distances. For example, we could not get a taxi to take us from the Cluny Museum to the apartment so we had to walk, which was not a problem, but when we were really tired, we would have been willing to pay for a ride!
Directions:
It was very easy to find the property. A taxi from the train station to the apartment took all of 15 minutes and then we were there and in the capable Annabelle's hands!

Overall:
We have stayed in Paris many times in the past --always in 4 and 5 star hotels--we loved this experience in this romantic spot---a great experience.
Enjoyed Most:
The location is wonderful--staying in an apartment rather than a hotel room is a totally different experience. The apartment is perfect for a couple or small family--a lovely apartment and a wonderful way to experience Paris and particularly the Left Bank. We are hoping to rent the same apartment next year.
Enjoyed Least:
I do not have any significant negatives about the apartment.
Surrounding Area:
There are many wonderful shops, art galleries , antique shops, bakeries, groceries, restaurants---etc., all within easy walking distance of the apartment.
Nearby Events or Locales:
You are in the center of the Left Bank in Paris!
Tips or Restaurants:
I would bring a few extra towels the next time.

Overall:
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and if we could afford to we would go back to Paris in a flash and stay at the same property! Thank you for such a clean and pleasant stay.
Enjoyed Most:
This property was clean, roomy, and beautifully furnished. The bathrooms were both quite new and clean with the 2nd bathroom being very roomy. The main bedroom was lovely with a very comfortable bed. The kitchen was new and had everything we needed - dishwasher etc.
Enjoyed Least:
We didn't have any views - but decided that everything else was so good that it didn't matter.
Surrounding Area:
This was a very quiet area which we appreciated. It was 5 minutes to Musee D'Orsay and Metro, and buses etc. We walked to most places from here easily. Local stores nearby were very handy, with very friendly people, markets, deli, drug store, and restaurants. We loved this area.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We walked to most places from here, or walked to the two metro stops and RER which were very close by. We were quite central in Paris to most things.
Directions:
It is a very narrow street, and I don't think there was ever any free parking spaces. So, if you hire a car you may not find any nearby parking.

Jason, July

Overall:
This was apartment was one of the best parts of our vacation -- a true escape from the bustle of the city, yet conveniently in the middle of everything. Annabelle, the key holder, was delightful and very helpful.
Enjoyed Most:
It was very spacious for the 4 of us, all adults, beautifully decorated, quiet and very comfortable. Everything was supplied. Interesting building and area.
Enjoyed Least:
Hard to find something negative but perhaps the lack of a washing machine. But, the key holder did our laundry since the local laundromat had disappeared. Also, there was a gas odor that we were never able to track down.
Surrounding Area:
Everything we needed for apartment living was within a 3-minute walk - greengrocer next door, deli market across the street, bakery on the corner, cheese and wine shops on the next block, several small grocery stores in each direction. An electrical store, which proved very helpful in getting the proper plugs for my digital camera recharge equipment, is on the next block. All of the proprietors, except at the bakery, were very charming. Lots of restaurants in the area, but we used Zagat's and ventured further out. Absolutely superb location for museums -- easy walking distance to Orsay and Louvre.
Tips or Restaurants:
Everything is supplied. Renters should be aware that the 2d bedroom is VERY small -- basically enough room for twin beds with a walking aisle between. However, the walk-in closet and very nice bathroom that open directly into this bedroom alleviate the potentially cramped feeling.
Check In Out:
Handled very easily and informally with Annabelle.

Overall:
At this price, at this location....would definitely rent again.
Enjoyed Most:
Location, Parisian-style decor.
Enjoyed Least:
Small second bedroom, small kitchen.
Surrounding Area:
Everything...best address in Paris!
Tips or Restaurants:
Chez Pappa jazz club makes for an excellent dinner/drinks spot and just a few blocks away from the apartment right out of the apartment, two blocks take right, one block take left, Club is on the right on side street.

Steven, June

Overall:
We were more than pleased with this property! We would highly recommend it to others and already have to our friends!. We will definitely be staying here again when we come to Paris. Thank you!!
Enjoyed Most:
The location was perfect. The apartment is absolutely beautiful and furnished with antiques. It is tasteful and serene-a wonderful place to spend a week or more in Paris! The two bathrooms are a real luxury.
Enjoyed Least:
We were told the hot water heater was small and so we were careful. But we had no problem with four women.
Surrounding Area:
The location is perfect for both the right and left banks. The Musee D'Orsay, Louvre, Rue de Rivoli, Latin Quarter, St. Germain des Pres, and Buci Market are all very close by. The street itself is lovely with every convenience- a grocer, a vegetable market, coiffure, wine shop, charcuterie, and lovely restaurants.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Everything is close by and easy to access.
Tips or Restaurants:
Au 35 on Rue Jacob is a lovely restaurant. Cafe des Lettres right on the Rue Verneuil has a lovely garden, great food and service.
Check In Out:
Annabelle the manager is wonderful! She was kind and helpful and made everything easy for us.

Overall:
Annabella, the property manager, was very helpful and kind.
Enjoyed Most:
The apartment was perfectly located for our Paris visit. Two bedrooms and two full baths provided ample space for our family.
Surrounding Area:
The wonderful shops nearby---market, patisserie, deli, green grocer---made our stay very easy and enjoyable.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The Louvre, the Musee Orsay and the metro station were a short walk from the apartment.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring an alarm clock.

Rhonda, April

Enjoyed Most:
The apartment was beautiful, light and bright, relatively spacious, and in a wonderful location. We were delighted with the decor and artwork, the room layout, and the peaceful setting.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing, we loved it!
Surrounding Area:
There were great walks and sights in every direction. It's easy to shop for food in the immediate neighborhood.
Tips or Restaurants:
Many essentials were provided, we really didn't need to bring anything. We had a memorable lunch at Bofinger a pleasant 50 minute walk, and there were many closer places that looked good.

Christina, December

Overall:
Rue de Verneuil is just one block off the River Seine, across from The Louvre, near the Musee D'orsay. A quiet, canyon of old flat front buildings squeezed tight up against two narrow sidewalks. Thank God for wheeled suitcases. Look for the black lacquered door with two enormous brass door knobs on each side of the ten foot wide opening. We rang the bell and the door opened to reveal the bright smile of Annabelle, our hostess and caretaker of the apartment. We stepped into a cavernous cobblestone driveway that connected the street to an enclosed courtyard. The dramatic dark entry gave the sunlight courtyard a dazzling appeal. Annabel was a treat to deal with and provided great advice. This place is in the heart of Paris. You can not beat the location and comfort of the apartment. Compared to a hotel this is a stunning value. I will stay here again. Rentvillas did a great job of describing this to a tee. We loved it.
Enjoyed Most:
This is a Paris Pied à Terre. If you stay here you are no longer a Tourist, you become a Local. It is a compact, well appointed apartment with a view of the quiet courtyard. The location cannot be beat. You are just blocks away from The Louvre, The Musee D'Orsay, great cafes, and you are on the Left Bank - how chic !! But, you are also snug in a quiet cocoon when it's time to get away from the Paris hustle. The bedroom is comfortable with en suite bath. The sitting room is large and well-appointed. The kitchen is an efficient design with all of the necessities. But who wants to cook? The description says it sleeps 4, but the apartment would be cramped with 2 more adults. It would be fine with two adults and two kids. The location provides instant access to every Paris landmark.
Enjoyed Least:
There is no view other than the courtyard. You give up the view for a quiet setting away from the street noise.
Surrounding Area:
Within 1 block of this property there is a cheese shop with so many treats you can't count - perfect for assembling a picnic lunch for the Luxembourg Gardens. A bakery with almond croissants that would make a grown man weep, and many artisan breads and pastries. A local bar for a quick bite or afternoon glass of wine. A wide selection of service and retail shops - dry cleaner, bank machine, grocer, small retail shops selling anything you could need. Two wine stores with great prices on French wines. Five restaurants with complete meals from 15 euros to 150 euros. You really do not have to go off the block to get everything you need.
Nearby Events or Locales:
You are in the center of Paris in the best residential area. What more could you ask for ?
Tips or Restaurants:
Buy a French hair dryer one block to the left, rather than fooling around with converters. Dinner at Les Ministries around the corner a block away. If you are adventurous, there is a Cheese restaurant on the same street with a 5 course all-cheese dinner and superb wines. There are two other small family owned restaurants in the next block. Both are well priced and excellent. Tell them you just moved into the neighborhood and move to the front of the line.

Jack, October

Overall:
The building is old but well maintained and authentic right down to the cobblestone in the courtyard and hand carved stone. The keyholder, was friendly and very nice. The apartment was clean, well decorated and very comfortable. Huge windows onto the courtyard allowed in plenty of light and fresh air without traffic noise. The furnishings were very well done, some antiques mixed with practical, comfortable modern furniture. Everything you could ever need for cooking was supplied in the very modern, compact kitchen. Overall, a great location in a very upscale and desirable part of Paris.
Enjoyed Most:

The location is superb for seeing the sights of Paris. The apartment is VERY quiet. There is no traffic noise even though it is very close to the main street.
Enjoyed Least:

The hot water tank is small so shower went from hot to cold quickly.
Surrounding Area:
One block to the Musee D'Orsay 2 blocks to the Louvre, The Seine and wonderful shops and services are all around the apartment. Everything you want to see in Paris is within walking distance.
Events or Locales:

We went to the Paris Opera (Tosca) which was a short cab ride away. The ticket prices are a bargain compared to the US and the evening was wonderful.
Tips or Restaurants:

Les Ministreres: On Rue de Bac 1/2 block from the apartment. A nice neighborhood restaurant with traditional French food. Not too expensive and a good wine list.

September

Overall:
The apartment is charming and unbelievably well located - less than ten minutes walk each to the Seine, the Orsay Museum and the Louvre - no more than 15 minutes walk to Notre Dame. Good proximity to the Metro. It was quiet and well furnished.
Enjoyed Most:

The location.
Enjoyed Least:

The small hot water heater means two warm showers in a row isn't a possibility. Schedule accordingly.
Tips or Restaurants:

Paris shuts down in August. None of the lovely nearby shops and restaurants were open when we arrived. The benefit is smaller crowds but this is balanced by sometimes needing to walk several blocks to find open restaurants or shops. The cheese shop in the next block (left out of the front door) is lovely and the fellow who runs it delightful. Also make sure your ATM cards (with 4 digit PIN) are working.

August

Enjoyed Most:
The location and the French nature of the apartment, interior courtyard, furnishings, etc.
Surrounding Area:
Great location, easy walking distance to everything.
Tips or Restaurants:
The Vietnamese restaurant down on Rue Verneuil was fantastic, very freindly excellent food and world-class wine list - expensive, but worth it.

Mark, April

Overall:
It is a wonderful location, wonderful old building and the furnishings were so lovely. Nice welcoming letter from the owner.
Enjoyed Most:
Very comfortable floorplan and everything needed was provided. The furnishings were so nice and yet homey feeling.
Enjoyed Least:
The hot water ran cold in the shower on and off.
Surrounding Area:
We were in the heart of everything we wanted to do and see.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The start of the Friday night rollerblading group on the cross street - Fun to see. Only two blocks to the Seine.
Tips or Restaurants:
Liked the bakery and cheese shop in the next block. Didn't have great luck on restaurants this trip - several places we had been before were now disappointing. There was a little restaurant next door to the building that looked good. We should have tried it.

Elaine, June

Overall:
The apartment was perfectly located, beautifully decorated and furnished, very quiet and very spacious. The concierge is delightful and very helpful. I would recommend the apartment to anyone.
Enjoyed Most:
Everything!
Enjoyed Least:
Fans for unusually hot and still nights would be helpful.
Surrounding Area:
The apartment was extremely quiet, given that it faces out on a courtyard and is located on a small and quiet street, but was only two blocks from the Seine and the Musee d'Orsay.

Camille, June

Overall:
It was in a wonderful part of Paris, in a great building, and close to everything.
Enjoyed Most:
The apartment was roomy, secure, and had a lot of charm.
Enjoyed Least:
Several things, in no particular order: At night it got a little chilly and the heat wasn't always working properly, or maybe we didn't know how to work it properly. The building was a bit noisy at times, but nothing unmanageable. The kitchen was a little too cozy--cramped would be a better description. There's really only room for one designated chef.
Surrounding Area:
All within walking distance were: a gourmet deli, a great boulangerie, a fromagerie, lots of nice restaurants, brasseries, and cafes, the Louvre!
Nearby Events or Locales:
The Louvre, the Tuileries, and the Orsay Museum are a stone's throw away. Very convenient. There was also a metro/RER stop. That was great.
Tips or Restaurants:
Come prepared to speak French. You won't be in a hotel, where everyone needs to speak English. On the other hand, I found the St. Germainians very forgiving of a not-so-perfect French accent. We found a great restaurant a short cab ride away: Les Bookinistes. It's near Notre Dame. Great.

Edward, April

Overall:
Excellent location and nicely appointed.
Enjoyed Most:
Location and tall windows in the living room.
Enjoyed Least:
Heavy-footed tenant on floor above.
Surrounding Area:
Wonderfully close to Metro, river, Notre Dame, bakery and produce.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Enjoyed window shopping in the antique locale.
Tips or Restaurants:
Great croissants at the corner.

Catherine, March

Overall:
We wish we could give this property a 5 star rating, but in all fairness we cannot. Five stars would denote perfection, and although the apartment was quite satisfactory, it was not perfection. The online pictures are quite representative. Overall, the apartment would be considerd "spacious" for Paris standards. The kitchen was tiny, but very well equipped. (The only thing we missed having was a microwave oven, but there really wasn't anywhere to put one in the kitchen due to space constraints.) The second bedroom with the 2 twin beds (very narrow) was small, but for two pre-teen age children, it was adequate. The dining table off to one side of the living room really did not accommodate 4 people at one seating for meals. The master bedroom was pleasantly furnished, with a very comfortable bed. There are gobs of linen, but all are rather stiff. (We've come upon the conclusion that, generally speaking, Europeans do not believe in wasting energy on clothes dryers.) We selected this apartment primarily because previous renters had described it as being "immaculate". In all honesty, by the time we rented the place, it was in need of a thorough spring cleaning. Things were neat and organized, but the shelves needed dusting and the floors needed cleaning. Aside from the floors (just don't walk around in white socks) and the dusty shelves, the apartment would be considered clean. A washing machine (and dryer, of course), along with the previously mentioned microwave, would have been nice. Overall it was a comfortable stay, but we would choose different accommodations the next time we visit Paris.
Enjoyed Most:
The apartment is very centrally located if you are interested in taking in ALL the major sights, from the Eiffel Tower (about a 30 minute walk), to Notre Dame (about a 30 minute walk in the opposite direction), to the Louvre (less than a 15 minute walk across the Seine). Of course, the Musee d' Orsay is less than 10 minutes away. (Remember, we're walking around with children -- not the fastest mode of transportation.) The neighborhood is quite nice, with pastry shops, wine merchant (Nicholas - a must), butcher, produce store, cheese shop, and a small grocery store all within 1 or 2 short blocks. From a location point of view, we could not have done any better for our first trip to Paris with 2 children in tow.
Enjoyed Least:
Although not a "surprise" per say (after all, we were warned about this from previous renters), the squeaky floors ARE quite noisy, particularly if you have members of your party retiring for bed at different hours. Tiptoeing around seemed to make it worse, if that was possible! Also, lack of water pressure on the shower was not wonderful. And yes, the upstairs tenant DID keep late (or should we say "early in the morning") hours. (You can hear them moving around on THEIR squeaky floors.) The light switches for the reading lamps over the beds (master and one of the twin beds) did not work consistently.
Tips or Suggestions:
Bring your own soap and be prepared to purchase consummables (toilet paper, tissue paper, etc.). Purchase a museum pass if you plan to visit multiple museums. We did not buy a metro pass; we either walked (it was great, even in the cold, wet weather) or took the train (to Versailles).

Gary, February

Overall:
It was prettier and larger than the photos; beautifully furnished, extremely clean, and well cared for.
Enjoyed Most:
The location, neighborhood, apartment size, and furnishings. The apartment manager was very helpful (she did our laundry!), though she spoke no English.
Enjoyed Least:
The water pressure! The upstairs tenant kept late hours.
Surrounding Area:
Everything we needed was on our block. It was a very safe area. We really experienced life in Paris.
Tips or Suggestions:
You don't need to bring anything off the list of extras. It helps to speak a little French at this apartment.

Ellen, December

Overall:
We were very pleased with the property, and thought the pictures were very representative. The furnishings are lovely, and make for a very comfortable feeling.
Enjoyed Most:
We loved having shops, bakeries, antique shops, etc. right on the same street, however, the apt. was set back from the street, so you never had street noise. It's very charming and decorated very nicely.
Enjoyed Least:
On Tuesday night there was a very loud party directly over us. On every other night there was also noise from the people walking around until very late.
Surrounding Area:
We were so very close to museums, restaurants and shopping. The area is quite upscale, and very pleasant to be walk around in.
Tips or Restaurants:
We feel strongly that the noise upstairs was out of the ordinary particularly with the loud music that went on until someone else intervened on Tuesday night.

Gail, December

Overall:
The apartment was even more beautifully appointed than I expected, with attractive and comfortable sofas, oriental rugs, beautiful antiques and artwork. Beautifully proportioned space, and beautifully appointed with classic furnishings. Comfortably elegant. Big windows all on one side, so there is good afternoon sunlight in all the rooms. Excellent location.
Enjoyed Most:
Enjoyed the view onto the private courtyard and the quiet from the street. It was immaculately clean. All appliances were new and easy to use. The kitchen is small, but well-furnished. The bathrooms were modern and updated, with good light. The location is superb, and I felt very safe in the building because of the secured doors from the courtyard to the street, as well as the locked door into the building itself. The rooms get good, bright sun in the afternoon, because of all the large windows. Though the neighborhood is a busy one, with a butcher, pastry shop and grocers all within a block's walk, it is very peaceful and quiet in the interior courtyard of the building and in the apartment itself. Annabella, the concierge who has the key, speaks no English at all, but she is cheerful, charming and helpful, and because I can speak a wee bit of French, we managed to communicate OK. All in all, the apartment exceeded my expectations, and I had a wonderful time there.
Enjoyed Least:
Floors were so creaky that you could not move around parts of the apartment without disturbing others. (Worth it for the beauty of the old floors though!). Some noise from upstairs neighbors.
Surrounding Area:
Easy walk to Musee d'Orsay and Louvre and Isle de la Cite. Bakery, butcher and grocer all within a block or so from apartment, which made it easy to shop and have some meals at home. Very pedestrian friendly neighborhood. Close to Rue du Bac Metro station.

Lesley, October

Overall:
Property was in a great location, close to the Louvre, Musee D'Orsay, and the metro. The people who lived there were very nice. The caretaker, who looked after the apartment for the owner was very helpful and kind.
Enjoyed Most:
We enjoyed the location and cleanliness of the apartment.
Enjoyed Least:
Wood floors squeaked.
Surrounding Area:
