Customer Reviews

Overall:
Pleasantly surprised at the exceptional quality of the villa and the extremely courteous and helpful owners. They were perfect hosts.
Enjoyed Most:
Everything, the property more than met our high expectations.
Enjoyed Least:
Cannot answer this question, the six guests enjoyed every aspect of our visit.
Surrounding Area:
Our second visit to Provence, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Beaumes-de Venise, a very pleasant town with easy, efficient shopping for necessities. About a ten minute drive and a thirty minute walk via a trail/shortcut provided by our host, Roger.
Tips or Restaurants:
Difficult to find a bad local restaurant, once again consult with Roger.
Directions:
The directions were excellent, did not need our GPS. But, if your first visit to the area a GPS can be very helpful.
Check In Out:
Roger was very easy to deal with during the check in/out process. The villa and property is meticulously maintained. The Weber grill is two years old and appeared brand new. I was very concerned with keeping it spotlessly clean after multiple use by our group, The pool and grounds are in excellent condition and professionally maintained.

Ed, October

Overall:
Exceptionally positive.
Enjoyed Most:
Its rural setting.
Surrounding Area:
Easy access to restaurants, small villages to explore.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Beaume de Venise is not within walking distance. It's a two-minute car ride.
Tips or Restaurants:
Explore the surrounding vineyards. Many have superb restaurants within their property and serve the wine that they grow.
Directions:
Your directions were fine. We had no trouble on our own without a GPS.
Check In Out:
We said that we would arrive at 4 PM and the hosts were there to greet us.

Michael, June

Overall:
Superb. Owners are wonderful and very accommodating. Location is quiet, peaceful.
Enjoyed Most:
Easy to prepare meals at the villa. Nice location for exploring.
Surrounding Area:
Close to Ventoux, Sault, Orange, Avignon.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Beaumes de Venise
Tips or Restaurants:
La Table in Beaumes is very pleasant
Check In Out:
Suggest that renter calls Roger (owner) to arrange an arrival time. We showed up at 5 PM (within the 4-6 pm window) but no one was at the property. It was no problem calling Roger and he showed up quickly but I think he would have preferred a call in advance.

Timothy, June

Overall:
So peaceful and relaxing. Beautiful view, and good location.
Enjoyed Most:
Comfortable and beautifully decorated. Backyard is amazing!
Enjoyed Least:
A little difficult to find.
Surrounding Area:
Surrounded by vineyards and beautiful views that make for great jogs and drives.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Beaumes de Venise. Not walkable, but a short drive.
Tips or Restaurants:
Be sure there is room in your suitcase to bring back plenty of wine! If you're going in the summer - bathing suits for the day, but warm clothes for the night because it cools down a lot! Le Table in Beaumes de Venise is our favorite.
Check In Out:
We LOVE the owners of the property. They were very helpful and made the process easy and stress-free.

Josey, June

Overall:
Fantastic. Very picturesque and comfortable.
Enjoyed Most:
The pool.
Surrounding Area:
Close to many small villages for day trips.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Beaumes de Venise. Nothing was close enough to walk.

Tami, June

Overall:
Our group of five travelers had a wonderful time at Le Mas de Beaumes. The property is just beautiful, the house is meticulously decorated and stocked, and the overall atmostphere is one of comfort and relaxation. The owners are delightful to deal with, good humored, readily available, and eager for guests to enjoy their time at Le Mas de Beaumes. The house has excellent information about what to see and do in the area and in Provence in general. We were so pleased with the choice of this villa for our trip to Provence.
Enjoyed Most:
The location is ideal for what we wanted to do, and we also totally enjoyed our time at the villa, especially the outdoor pool area even though it was too cool for using the pool. The outdoor eating areas, both front and back, were so much fun to use since we cooked several evening meals in.
Surrounding Area:
The area, with the budding vineyards, the fields of red poppies, and the little hamlets like Beaumes de Venise, was fun to explore. We quickly found little wine rooms to visit and little roads to explore. A car was a necessity for us since we wanted to visit places like Aix en Provence, Arles, Nimes, Les Baux, St. Remy, Avignon, and Chateauneuf du Pape.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Beaumes de Venise is the closest town but is not really within walking distance for shopping or coffee/wine sipping. If you enjoy walking, it is about a 30 minute walk, and the shoulders of the road are not always the best although there is very little traffic.
Tips or Restaurants:
Have a car. A wonderful restaurant in Beaumes de Venise is La Table...(something or other). - it is excellent, and Roger, the owner, was very helpful, making the reservation and giving us directions.
Directions:
We had a GPS and did not really struggle with the directions although we really had our eyes open, looking for the small "fountain." Since it was not running when we were visiting the area, it looked more like a faucet than a fountain.
Check In Out:
Everything went very well - we got lost once, missing an exit on the tollway, so called Roger to tell him we would be later than expected but everything was very smoothly completed at both ends of the stay.

Barbara, April

Overall:
We loved this restored farmhouse. It was beautifully appointed and the grounds were magnificent. It had a cozy and welcoming feel. The owners greeted us and even though their English was minimal and our French was too, we managed to communicate.
Enjoyed Most:
Great location, beautiful grounds, magnificent pool. Everything you could want to make a delightful stay was there.
Surrounding Area:
Beautiful wine country. Lovey little villages yet very doable drive to cities i.e. Avignon, Arles, Nimes, Carpentras and Marseilles.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Beaumes de Venise was not in walking distance. The property is in the midst of vineyards and a car is absolutely necessary.
Tips or Restaurants:
A GPS is a necessity. Other than that, the property had everything we needed. The only thing we had to buy were groceries and wine.
Directions:
We did use a GPS and the best way to find the property is by coordinates. Otherwise it is easy to miss on the first try.
Check In Out:
We had no problems at all with checking in and checking out. The owners live adjacent to the property and are quickly available.

Michael, October

Overall:
It felt as if we'd stepped into the pages of Architectural Digest. The Villa was gorgeous and immaculate! The owners were such kind and generous people and made certain we had everything we needed. We had a bottle of wine from the region waiting for us as well as fresh-cut flowers and homemade jam.
Enjoyed Most:
The location was perfect for day trips and was private and peaceful. We felt safe with large iron gates at the end of the driveway. The owners thought of everything in regards to comfort and ease. The moment we walked in we felt surrounded by beauty. Just a perfect place to relax and enjoy Provence.
Enjoyed Least:
I have no complaints at all about the property.
Surrounding Area:
The local vineyards, the kindness of the French people and the lovely scenery as well as the peace and quiet.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The closest town was Le Beaumes de Venise which you could walk to but since the streets are so narrow and there are no sidewalks it would be dangerous.
Tips or Restaurants:
Make certain you stop for food before you arrive if it's on a Saturday, because it's difficult to find a grocery store on Sunday. The bakeries in town are open in the mornings on Sunday for fresh bread, pastries and quiche, but that's all. Also if you drink coffee, pick up a bag of it for your stay and any sweetener you may use.
Directions:
The directions are good but not as clear as we had hoped. We could not get the location on our GPS in our car. Make certain you get there before dark as the landmarks are difficult to see at night.
Check In Out:
The check-in and check-out process was smooth and there were no issues.

Melinda, October

Overall:
Fantastic property - we thoroughly enjoyed it!!!
Enjoyed Most:
Nice location - central to the region. Very nice owners and wonderful pool!
Surrounding Area:
Quiet and beautiful. Lots of local markets.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Beaumes de Venise is probably not walkable for most folks (3 km).
Tips or Restaurants:
Good restaurant in Beaumes--La Table.

Timothy, June

Overall:
Overall the villa exceeded our expectations. The gardens, setting, and views were amazing. The location was central to most of the things we wanted to see and do in Provence. We are already talking about returning!!
Enjoyed Most:
The warm, homey feeling of the villa and the incredible outdoor gardens and sitting areas. The attention to detail inside and out was very impressive! Although the water was too cool to swim in, the pool was gorgeous and we did spend time poolside enjoying the incredible views and tranquil setting. Roger, the property manager, was extremely friendly and attentive. He always wanted to please!
Enjoyed Least:
Although it's hard to find anything negative, it would be helpful to have more of the kitchen-related dishes in the kitchen, rather than making frequent trips into the dining room.
Surrounding Area:
All the charming little towns and friendly people. We all collect wine, so we did a lot of wine touring, which was also very enjoyable.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Beaumes de Venise, which was about a 5-7 minute car ride.
Tips or Restaurants:
We were surprised not to find salt/pepper in the kitchen. Other than that, the villa is quite ready to live in! Although there are many good restaurants, if you like a more gourmet meal, we dined twice at a truly incredible restaurant in Isle-sur-la-Sorgue called La Prevote. We all thought it was a 5-star!!! It was also one of our favorite little towns.
Check In Out:
Roger is extremely nice and helpful. There were fresh flowers waiting for us, some wine and even homemade jam that his wife made!

Lynn, October

Overall:
Great.
Enjoyed Most:
Peacefulness.
Enjoyed Least:
We found the drawers in the kitchen to be sticky.
Surrounding Area:
It was 30-to-40 minutes to many destinations in the city. A lot of nearby pleasant surprises
Tips or Restaurants:
It can get cool at night, depending on when you're there.
Check In Out:
No one was there when we arrived. Made a phone call to the owner and only got voicemail, and were not able to reach RentVillas. Eventually, the owner arrived.

Thomas, July

Overall:
This place is delightful - probably the best villa we've ever rented.
Enjoyed Most:
It was spacious, well furnished and beautifully landscaped. The owners are charming and gracious and were helpful in finding us a babysitter. We also had one dinner prepared by a chef which was expensive but worth it.
Enjoyed Least:
The air conditioning in some of the bedrooms did not work properly. Also, the access to the pool over rocky terrain was a bit hazardous for the young and the old.
Surrounding Area:
It is convenient to many attractions such as Avignon, Fontaine de Vaucluse, Vaison la Romaine.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring your own hairdryer.
Check In Out:
The owners accomodated our daughter's early arrival with two small children very graciously.

Ann, July

Overall:
The overall experience was wonderful. The owners are very deligthful and gave a thorough orientation of the house upon arrival. They completely left us alone but were available if we needed anything.
Enjoyed Most:
The setting, landscaping, outdoor areas for eating and the pool are the highpoints of the house.
Enjoyed Least:
The water in the shower in the master bath was always very hot and I was unable to sort out how to add cold water to balance the temperature. There was a crack in the glass in the second bathroom which the owner claimed wasn't there upon our arrival. My daughters insisted they did not bang the glass, lean on it or fall against it. In any event, I paid the estimate which was provided in the amount of approximately 700.00. This may have been our fault but no one experienced anything involving putting extra pressure on the glass to cause a crack and we did not look that closely at those kinds of things upon arrival.
Surrounding Area:
It was very peaceful and beautiful and calm. Extremely pleasant and private.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Beaumes de Venise is the nearest small village and it is not within walking distance which is a shortcoming to some extent.
Tips or Restaurants:
Check conditions of all appliances, windows, doors, surfaces, etc. to ensure nothing is broken or if so, it is noted at the beginning of the stay.
Directions:
The house is a little difficult to find so more precise directions would be very helpful.

Michael, June

Overall:
Overall we enjoyed the property. The grounds were well kept and the interior of the property was clean and tidy.
Enjoyed Most:
It was clean and well maintained.
Enjoyed Least:
The house was not close to the village Beaume De Venice; it was on the outskirst. You could not walk for a morning coffee and pastry; you had to drive. We even had bikes and it was a good bike ride to the town. There were only 4 of us renting the property. If 6 of us were staying at the house the seating around the living room would not comfortably accommodate all. Two of the bedrooms did not have pillows to sleep on. We had to use the decorative pillows which were uncomfortable.
Surrounding Area:
Everything. Wine, ruins, visiting all the surrounding towns. Riding all over the area.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring salt and pepper; the kitchen does not supply any spices. Don't worry about bringing toilet paper, dishwasher soap and laundry soap; they are at the villa.
Directions:
We used our GPS.

Brent, June

Overall:
The Villa in Provence was absolutely wonderful. The stay was a dream -beautiful house, lovely weather with sun and a cool breeze. We would go back in a heartbeat.
Enjoyed Most:
The location of the chateau on a beautiful hillside with a view was amazing. The plants and flowers around the property made us feel like we were in the Garden of Eden. The property is meticulously cared for by the owners, and the pride in the property shines through.
Enjoyed Least:
The pool and jacuzzi, though lovely, were quite cold. Swimming even on the hotter days was like jumping in the polar bear plunge.
Surrounding Area:
There were so many wonderful day trips for families and grown ups alike -all within an hour or so. Mont Ventoux take your bike if you can!, Vineyards with tasting caves all around, the Pont du Gard only 1 hour away, beautiful villages of Crillon de Brave, Carpentras, Gordes - all breathtaking.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Beaumes de Venice was the nearest town. It had good restaurants, two boulangeries, a wine store, a playground, a post office, and plenty of friendly people happy to help. It was not within walking distance but was only a 5 minute car ride. The nearest grocery store Carrefour was approx 10-15 minutes away.
Tips or Restaurants:
If you can get him, I highly recommend hiring Provence Chef Fabian Taguemount to come to the chateau and cook a meal for your family. It was the gastronomical highlight of my life! Bring a hairdryer that works with European wattage - our US hairdryer even with a converter melted. Also only European DVDs work. But the chateau was very well furnished with towels, sheets, kitchen accessories.
Check In Out:
The owners, though they speak little English, were very helpful and wanted to make sure we had a wonderful time. They took great pride in the property and came by in 5 minutes whenever we had an issue like a light that wouldn't turn on due to a fuse. Solved immediately.

Christy, August

Overall:
We enjoyed our stay in Provence, it was beautiful, peaceful and relaxing.
Enjoyed Most:
The house was tastefully decorated and well maintained. The garden was beautiful, with ample sitting areas. The children enjoyed the pool, even though it was not heated.
Enjoyed Least:
There were no negatives for us.
Surrounding Area:
It was quiet and peaceful; we were surrounded by vineyards.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Beaumes de Venise is close by, but not within walking distance.

Harinder, June

Overall:
This was our first experience using a rental property for our family holiday and found the experience fantastic. It allowed us to be together in the evenings for dinners, which we cooked in their modern, well equipped kitchen. We also all enjoyed our mornings on the terrace with our coffee and fresh pastries from the nearby town. The space allowed us - my daughter and her husband and baby and my husband and I - to each have our own sections of the house and therefore tons of privacy when wanted.
Enjoyed Most:
The grounds were spectacular with all the plantings. We loved eating all of our dinners outside on one of the terraces.
Enjoyed Least:
There is really nothing that we did not like about this property. The only thing was that we did not make use of the pool because the weather was a bit too chilly for it, but that was expected at the time of year we chose for this rental. I'm sure during the summers, you would not even want to leave.
Surrounding Area:
The mountain towns that surround this rental property are the most picturesque and idyllic. If you do your research, you will find a market each day of the week, all in different towns. The villa was in easy driving distance to many historic sights, as well as the Luberon region. The area was filled with wineries open for tastings which we enjoyed as well.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The closest town was Beaume de Venise. It was not walking distance, but about 2 miles by car. Close enough for the boulangerie each morning.
Tips or Restaurants:
You do need your own hair dryers, and bug repellent is a must for sitting outside at night. Remember there are no screens on the windows, so if your windows are open and you opt not to use the air conditioning, watch out for those mosquitoes. If you are serious cooks, you might want to think about bringing one good chef's knife with you. We managed with what they had, but it would have been easier with a good one. The restaurant that we went to was Crillon Le Brave. Fantastic......We also chose to hire a chef for one of our evening meals and that was brilliant.

Jessica , May

Overall:
This property is wonderful. The managers know very little English but are enthusiastically helpful.
Enjoyed Most:
The location was wonderful. You can explore quite a bit of the area with less than a 45 minute drive in any direction.
Enjoyed Least:
No complaints.
Surrounding Area:
I can't decide between the natural beauty, the walled towns, the people, or the wine.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Beaumes de Venise was 2km from the house on a road without sidewalks.
Tips or Restaurants:
We love to cook so we always pack a good knife. This house however was the best stocked home we have rented. The bread from the boulangerie in Aubignan was sublime.
Directions:
Yes we used a Garmin GPS. It seemed to take the scenic route wherever we went.
Check In Out:
It's best to know a little French or have a phrase book handy.

Charles, May

Overall:
The villa exceeded our expectations in every way.
Enjoyed Most:
Private, secluded, and beautiful, yet not isolated. The owners were wonderful...supplied everything including gifts of wine, fruit, juices, sodas, and a huge fresh floral display.
Enjoyed Least:
Can't think of anything to complain about.
Surrounding Area:
Wineries and conveniently located for day trips throughout Provence.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Beaumes de Venise. Not walking distance maybe a few miles. A car is a must.
Tips or Restaurants:
Our favorite restaurant was the Dolium in Beaumes de Venise. It's located at the Vignerons Winery.
Directions:
We combined your directions with our GPS.
Check In Out:
The owners met us and graciously showed us around the property, answered all questions, and insisted we call them any time.

Rosanne, May

Overall:
We had a really wonderful holiday at Le Mas de Beaumes. The property was beautiful and an absolute pleasure to stay at. The area was lovely, although you will need to drive to do anything.
Enjoyed Most:
The wonderful outdoor eating areas and the pool were fabulous. Having said that, we loved everything about the property.
Enjoyed Least:
The pool was a little cold in the first few days, but after a few consistent days of hot sunshine it warmed right up. I can imagine it would be a bit cold in the shoulder months!
Surrounding Area:
Excellent restaurants, beautiful surrounding countryside and vineyards as far as the eye could see!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Beaumes de Venise was the nearest town. It was about a 10 minutes drive.
Tips or Restaurants:
There were no hairdryers, so bring one with you if you need one!
Directions:
We found the property relatively easily as we had our Sat Nav.

Jane, August

Overall:
Excellent. The villa was perfect for a family of four. The kids loved the pool, although a bit cold for early June. The owners were great and just the best French family.
Enjoyed Most:
The location is excellent to see areas of the Cote du Rhone.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing.
Surrounding Area:
Beautiful country and great wines! Never can get enough of the Vin Rouge.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Beaumes de Venise was the closest town. A short 5 min drive with some great places to eat.
Tips or Restaurants:
Take extra bags for the things you will bring back from this region. Go to several of the market days in various villages. Rent bikes in some of the villages.

Mark, June

Enjoyed Most:
Outside dining, main bedroom, pool area.
Enjoyed Least:
Not sufficient comfortable chairs in the sitting room.
Surrounding Area:
Quiet.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Beaumes, good market and great restaurant.
Tips or Restaurants:
It was stocked with all requirements.

Ken, September

Overall:
It is beautifully maintained and the owners are very gracious and helpful. They kindly brought us some Muscat and Rose during our stay, and had a few necessities juice, water, melon for us in the fridge when we arrived. We had a wonderful time and would definitely return to this property.
Enjoyed Most:
Everything! The home was the perfect size for our family of 5. The yard and gardens were beautiful and very private. The kids loved the pool. The house is really beautifully decorated in a very Provencal style.
Enjoyed Least:
Everything was really wonderful. The kids were a bit disappointed that the "spa""hot tub" wasn't actually heated, but that certainly didn't keep them out of the water! A dryer for the laundry would have been a bit more convenient than line-drying, but we just had to allow some extra time for hanging clothes and letting them dry.
Surrounding Area:
We loved exploring the local sites--Fountain de Vaucluse and canoeing on the Sorgue river, picnicking and cliff-jumping at the Pont-du-Gard, going to some of the local carnivals, going to the Carpentras market. We also enjoyed wine tasting and wine shopping in Chateauneuf du Pape; go at the beginning of your stay so you have time to drink your purchases! and going to the Bernard Castelaine chocolate factory store.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Beaumes de Venise is a very accessible, easy to navigate village. The Tuesday morning market is wonderful--fabulous cheeses, produce, rotisserie chicken and paella. The everyday Cocci grocery store was great--they had all of the staples you need. The boulangerie up the hill near the church is wonderful--the best almond croissants on the planet! BDV is about 3 minutes driving from the house--very easy to run into town for a quick errand.
Tips or Restaurants:
No need to bring a thing--the owners have the house very well stocked, and any things like ziplock baggies or salt and pepper can be purchased at the Cocci market or the much bigger Shoppi market in Aubignan. There is a DVD player and CD player--we wished that we had brought movies for the kids. We had a wonderful meal at Crillon le Brave--our biggest splurge while in Provence. We enjoyed a dinner at Chez Hortense in Caromb?--nice outdoor setting. Cafe Serge in Carpentras was also good--they had pizza which the kids loved and many other entrees and plats to choose from.
Directions:
Follow the town signs, not the road numbers. The "Hameau de St. Veran" is a tiny neighborhood just three minutes from Beaumes de Venise--the "fountain" in the directions is not a decorative, splashing fountain--it's a large faucet set in the center of a small roundabout.
Check In Out:
The owners are lovely and very accommodating... we were running a bit late on check in, and they were very understanding and gracious. Make sure you have a cell phone so you can call them and let them know when you are arriving. They don't speak a lot of English, but with gestures and a French phrase book, we all understood each other pretty well!

Serene , July

Overall:
The house is comfortably appointed, with multiple places to dine outside or inside, in sun or shade. The owners could not be more charming. They left a platter of fruit and a bottle of Muscat on our arrival and dropped off another bottle of Rose during the week. They are real local people and can answer any questions about the area. The pool is great, but may not be enjoyable unless the weather is warm, as it isn't heated. It was fine for us, however.
Enjoyed Most:
The gardens are spectacular. The pool is perfect.
Enjoyed Least:
The master bedroom could be more private; it looks out over the driveway. The neighbors were doing some construction work at times, although the noise was not excessive.
Surrounding Area:
Everything. Above all, going to local farmers' markets and restaurants.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Beaumes de Venise was about 2-3 miles away.
Tips or Restaurants:
Don't bring anything except a guidebook and a good map. If you want a really good meal, go to the hostellerie in Crillon le Brave perhaps 10 miles away, which is a Relais Chateau. The local bistro in Beaumes de Venises to go to is "Le Relais des Dentelles". There are also several good places to eat in and around Gigondas. The one town to avoid is Carpentras, which has a seedy feeling about it.

Thaddeus, June

Overall:
The owners were very kind and could not be more helpful
Enjoyed Most:
The style and the cleanliness
Enjoyed Least:
The swimming pool not heated.
Surrounding Area:
Peace and quiet; well looked after.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest town was not too far, but too far to walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
The local wine is wonderful - Muscat de Beames de Venise.
Check In Out:
The owners stayed up late to help us and were very kind and helpful.

Annette, June

Overall:
We had an excellent stay at this villa. It met and exceeded our expectations. The owners were very helpful in suggesting shops and restaurants.
Enjoyed Most:
Location, layout of the bedrooms on opposite ends of villa - perfect for 2 couples, view, garden and swimming pool. We liked everything about this villa.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing!
Surrounding Area:
Rural area, wine fields, convenient shopping for staples food and drink.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Nearest town was Beaumes de Venise about 5 km away. Not within walking distance, but not a problem because we had a rental car.
Tips or Restaurants:
Must have a rental car for this villa.
Directions:
The location of this villa is remote, but the directions were quite good. Check In Out:
Cleaning service was provided with this villa and it was helpful in checking out, even though we left the villa as we found it.
