Just north of the city, you'll enjoy the quiet atmosphere of the suburbs with the bustling center of Athens just a little ways away. Spend your days marveling at the Acropolis, bargain in the narrow alleys of Monastiraki, pay your respects at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier, or relax with a stroll through the National Garden. There are countless other sights to tickle your sense of adventure and wonder; but every evening will surely find you back at this comfortable Greek apartment, taking a swim in the pool while you absorb the marvelous details of your day.

Situated at the foot of the Penteli Mountains, Rea is an upscale suburb north of Athens. It is a peaceful residential area with villas, pine trees, and vast gardens. The apartments are a 15-minute drive from the Kifissia tube station, and 5 minutes from the Athens-Lamia national road (Varibombi junction), which is the main axis leading to the Olympic venues in 2004. Kifissia has a wonderful selection of restaurants, cafés, clubs, and designer boutiques. It is an ideal spot for daytrips into Athens, to the Attica beaches, or just relaxing by the pool. There are supermarkets, shops, restaurants, and pharmacies within a 5-minute drive. Renovated in 2004, the two independent apartments are located in a converted 3-story building. They are spacious and tastefully decorated. Both enjoy views of the nearby Penteli Mountains. The apartments share a large garden (1000m2) and a swimming pool (8m x 6m). Each apartment has its own lounge area at the pool with a table and chairs. The use of the pool is forbidden during the rest hours (14:30 - 17:30 and 22:30 - 07:30).
The owner lives in a 2nd floor apartment in the building. Although neither apartment is equipped with air conditioning, the suburbs north of Athens enjoys a pleasant temperature even in August thanks to the moderating influence of the surrounding mountains and pine forests. A rental car is recommended, although taxis and public transportation are convenient. Parking is available.

Hydrofoils depart daily for Paros from the main port in Athens.

Ground floor: This open-plan apartment has a living room/kitchen with two couches, a fireplace, a TV (local channels only), and glass doors leading to the swimming pool. The kitchen is equipped with an oven, microwave, freezer, toaster, teakettle, coffee machine, dishwasher, and washing machine. Directly adjacent is the dining area with a table and chairs. The first bedroom has a 160 cm queen-sized bed and an ensuite bathroom with a sink, toilet, and tub with a handheld shower. The second bedroom has two 90 cm single beds. There is a second bathroom with a sink, toilet, and shower.

Overall:
Short-term rental accommodations are difficult to find in Athens. This is a nice apartment in a quiet and green northern suburb of Athens. It is ideal for a family like ours with small children. The owners are very friendly and aim to please. We would stay here again.
Enjoyed Most:
It was quiet and cool.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Pool was a little cold, even for July. Hot water tap in bathtub can get too hot to touch.
Surrounding Area:
Very green, unlike central Athens.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ekali and Agios Stefanos are the surrounding towns municipalities. Access with car is easiest given distance.

Always take the metro into Athens.

Overall:
Nice pool outside the living room which could be used in warmer weather. Too cold in January to take advantage of it. Can't say enough about the friendliness and hospitality of the hosts. Hope to return someday.

Very attractive, clean, spacious apartment. Furnishings very comfortable. Hosts showed us exceptional hospitality.

Only the sounds of construction across the street. Minor problem.

Very nice, attractive neighborhood. Wonderful restaurants and shopping nearby, 5 minutes by car.

Drosia - a 5-minute drive north.
Tips or Restaurants:
Recommend having a car to explore. Excellent seafood restaurant in nearby Drosia. Bring a GSM cell phone with you.
Directions:
Didn't have a cell phone. Needed to buy phone card to call for assistance to be led to the apartment.
