AboutTheExperience
Very chic, very charming, and very French is how you'll come to describe this Provence villa in one the region's cutest hilltop towns. Situated along a cobblestone street in the center of Joucas, this vacation rental in Provence has a lovely swimming pool and looks out over the surrounding valleys beyond the city's walls. Take a stroll to the market, visit one of the local artisan's shops for a unique souvenir, and attend a music festival in the summer, all which are possible while spending the holidays in Provence!
LocationDescription
This villa is located in the Provencal village of Joucas. Joucas is a pleasant village on a hill with a selection of small shops, a town store, and the Hostellerie des Commandeurs restaurant. The main church has ancient paintings and holds summer concerts every year. The village of Bonnieux is easy to spot no mater what route you take. The village's church tower is visible from all directions and dominates the countryside and its surroundings. Here you will find several excellent restaurants, museums, and outdoor activities of hiking, horse riding, and mountain biking. Within a short drive, Lourmarin is famous both as one of the most beautiful villages in France and as the home of Albert Camus, the winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature. He is buried in the cemetery. This is a village filled with cafe terraces, restaurants, boutiques, and a 16th century castle open to the public. You can wander narrow streets and relax in shaded squares, the perfect picture of Provence. Another attraction within driving distance is Gordes, one of the most popular villages in Provence, with a wonderful castle, arcaded streets, museums, and musical concerts. Market day in Gordes is Tuesday morning. Ideal for a daytrip, Avignon is a charming walled French town with history, restaurants, museums, shops and a vibrant local scene. There is so much to see: the Place de l'Horloge, the outdoor market in Uzes on Saturday, the Pont du Gard, the antique markets in Isle sure la Sorgue on Sunday, Mount Ventoux, the vineyards, the Festival d'Avignon in July, Fountaine de Vaucluse, and on and on.

Customer Reviews
Overall:
The villa was nicely appointed, located in a great area of the Luberon, and was very quiet and relaxing.
Enjoyed Most:
The peace and quiet were great. The outside terrace had a lovely view. They had a small outdoor grill which you could use. The kitchen was well-equipped and you could make many a delicious meal. There was a pool and many lounge chairs for your use.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The directions were a little vague. The dryer really only seems to work in a "fluff" stage. However, they do furnish an outside drying rack. There are no screens on the windows and no fans - needed really only in the bedrooms for more comfortable sleeping... the downstairs living area stays fairly cool.
Surrounding Area:
Gordes, Roussilon, Isle Sur La Sorgue are wonderful places to visit 5, 10, and 20 minutes away respectively. You are only 90 minutes from Marseilles if you want to glimpse the Mediterranean. There is a great restaurant a 4-minute walk from the villa.

Overall:
A very pleasant place, was very clean, and was convenient to explore the interesting little towns in the area. I felt very comfortable and relaxed in this small town.
Enjoyed Most:
The patio was the most used space in the house as the weather was ideal for croissants and coffee in the morning and dinner in the evening.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The barbecue grill was, in fact, an outdoor electric skillet which worked well, bur did not impart the usual flavor of outdoor cooking that I'm used to.
Surrounding Area:
All of it. It is truly a unique place and as a first time visitor to the area, I can say that a week is not enough time to experience all the area has to offer.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Gordes is not within walking distance. A vehicle is a must if you intend to rent this place.
Tips or Restaurants:
The restaurant in the hotel on the road north of town was excellent.
Directions:
The printed directions on the map were all we needed.
Check In Out:
Natalie was very helpful and explained everything fully.
