Customer Reviews

Overall:
The Marais 5 is a great little place to base yourself for any extended stay in Paris. It is not huge by any means (it is an efficiency) but it has everything you need. The Landlady, Marie Claude, is very nice.
Enjoyed Most:
The location of this property is excellent. It is near dining, shopping, the metro, and within walking distance to many of the sites Paris has to offer. The bathroom is pretty big compared to many European-style bathrooms. It is cozy and quiet.
Enjoyed Least:
The outside courtyard and view aren't anything special. It is an efficiency so it is small. There is not a bedroom so to speak as much as a bed nook carved out of the wall but it was extremely comfortable and quiet.
Surrounding Area:
The Marais is a good place to stay. It was safe and close to restaurants, shopping the metro and tourist sites.
Tips or Restaurants:
Make sure you bring converter plugs (obviously). There are several grocery stores nearby for food. The street crepe place on the corner down towards the Seine is nice for late night food. Most of the stores nearby will be closed by six and don't open until 9 or so. Some of the museums are closed on certain days so check ahead. Get the museum pass, it is worth it and a billet of 10 metro tickets will get you through most of the week.
Directions:
The directions were fine. It is a bit of a haul from DeGaulle or Orly. There are several ways to go. We were informed of a Taxi but it is around 40 Euros. There are other ways that take a little longer but are cheaper. From Orly, you can take the Orlybus to the RER B and then switch to the metro and get within walking distance of Marais 5.
Check In Out:
Check in and out were easy. Marie Claude doesn't speak English very well so it helps to know some French.
