Only 10 minutes from the Superstrada linking Siena to Florence, this Tuscany villa with a pool is an ideal location for reaching the various Tuscan hill towns, most of which are less than an hour away. This cozy, comfortable farmhouse accommodation near Siena, which is where the novel by Herman Wouk and TV series starring Robert Mitchum, Winds of War, took place as well as where the movie "My House in Umbria" starring Maggie Smith was filmed, will welcome you home after a day spent exploring and sightseeing. Spend your evenings enjoying Tuscany holidays by barbequing or swimming in the pool.

This apartment is located near the village of Costafabbri, just 5 km from the center of historical Siena. It is also about ten minutes' drive from the main Superstrada linking Siena to Florence. This is a convenient and easy way to get around the Tuscan hill towns, most of which are within a radius of about an hours' drive. You're bound to spend lots of time wandering around Siena, enjoying the local atmosphere. This picturesque city is a wonderfully preserved example of the Tuscan Middle Ages, and a treasure trove of gothic palaces, churches, and museums. It's also well known for its exiting bi-annual bareback horse races, the Palio, held on July 2 and August 16. Because this estate is affiliated with a four-star hotel just outside of Siena, about 10 minutes' drive from the property, you are free to use the English-speaking reception services during your stay. There are also computers with internet access in the reception area. As parking in central Siena is often sparse, it is possible to park at the hotel and take a bus number six into the center of town. Bus tickets can be purchased at the hotel reception. You may also decide to take a day trip to San Gimignano, known for its ancient towers and rich history dating back to Etruscan times. And naturally you must see Florence! Take a bus or ride the train for a day trip into the world-famous city of art and culture. Shop for jewelry on the Ponte Vecchio, marvel at Michelangelo's David, and tour the treasures of the Uffizi Gallery. With all there is to see and do, don't forget to spend an hour or two relaxing with a cappuccino in one of the squares before heading home.

ExteriorDescription
This accommodation is situated within a small complex of 10 charming villas and apartments. The property is in a peaceful position and has extensive views over the typical Tuscan style hills with their olive groves and vineyards. All residences share a well tended garden and an equipped swimming-pool (8m x 15m) with toilets, shower and barbecue. Each accommodation also has its own reserved parking space.
InteriorDescription
(120 m2) Ground Floor: This apartment opens into a large living/dining room and a kitchen equipped with a dishwasher, washing machine, electric oven, and gas cook-top. There is also a bathroom with a sink, toilet, and tub.
First Floor: Upstairs there are three bedrooms. The first has a 170 cm queen-size bed, while the second and third each have two single beds. There are also two bathrooms, each with a sink, toilet, and shower.
It is possible to arrange for an extra bed in the living room.
In front of the apartment there is an open-air space with a barbecue and table for al fresco dining.

Overall:
Overall, the experience was OK and we were happy to be near Siena.
Enjoyed Most:
Location near Siena and a nice pool for the kids.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Kitchen was not clean when we arrived and thre was a musty smell on the first floor. Dishwasher didn't work initially and the small fridge would not close properly. The living room and kitchen had ants.
Surrounding Area:
Close to Siena and nice views.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Costafabbri. it was not walking distance and we did not spend any time there.

Little stuff - coffee makers plug didn't fit the wall sockets, small-size refrigerator,

Beauty, genuine Tuscany experience, easy access to Siena via the Florence-Siena Autostrada

Costafabri, not really within walking distance
Tips or Restaurants:
Stop at a grocery sore before arrival and pick up a few things like paper towels, extra garbage bags, food, spices, soap bath and kitchen, laundry soap, etc.
