About The Experience
This Lake Como villa is the perfect venue for weddings, family reunions, or large group gatherings: each bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom, and all beds can be made up as one queen or two twins. A large lawn area, tennis court, and private swimming pool mean that this Italian lake villa for rent has plenty of room for outdoor relaxation and recreation. Not only that, but a professional-grade kitchen provides all your group needs for a cooking class or your own personal chef. And with a great central location near Menaggio, this villa on Lake Como is also a wonderful stepping-off point for your explorations.
Location Description

This villa is located about a 10 minute drive from the lake shore village of Menaggio. Once a walled city, some of the remnants are still visible today. In the summer, Menaggio is a popular recreation area, with opportunities for windsurfing, water skiing, and other water-based activities. You could also rent a bicycle and explore the area or take a walk down the lakeside promenade, lined with flowers. Because of its central location, Menaggio is a great base for exploring the rest of the area. Drive down the lakeshore road to Tremezzo and Como, or hop on a ferry to visit Varenna or Bellagio. Known as "la perla del lago" (the pearl of the lake), Bellagio is considered by many to be the most beautiful town in Europe. Its narrow cobbled streets, breathtaking views, impeccable homes and glorious villas make it a most enchanting spot to explore. Como, located at the southernmost tip of the lake which bears its name, is perfect for a day's outing. Sights in Como include the Duomo, the austere church of San Abbondio, the Piazza S. Fedele (with many 400-year-old buildings), and the Basilica, one of the masterpieces of the maestri comacini (Como masters). Before leaving, be sure to take the funicular up to Brunate-- a small village with a spectacular view. While on Lake Como, you'll discover that the cuisine is based primarily on fish. Specialties include misultitt (fish desiccated in containers called misolte) and soused fish (fried and then pickled), along with more traditional dishes like rice with perch or smoked trout.

Customer Reviews

Overall:
Other-worldly! It is hard to imagine a more peaceful, relaxing setting for a large group such as ours. Every detail has been addressed. We were wanting for nothing. The Lake Como area is spectacular in its beauty and the leisure opportunities it offers.
Enjoyed Most:
The property is absolutely beautiful. The view of the lake from the front of the villa is breathtaking. This is an eight bedroom home but at no time did I ever feel crowded. The living space is well designed and the grounds perfect for a retreat from activity should you desire.
Enjoyed Least:
I honestly cannot think of any negatives about this property.
Surrounding Area:
I loved the fact that the property is secluded enough to guarantee privacy, yet just outside the gates you can immerse yourself totally in the local Northern Italian culture. The locals are beautiful people - friendly and very hospitable.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The villa is located in the community of San Siro. The villages of Acquaseria and Santa Maria are within easy walking distance of the villa utilizing the trails that connect the property with the rest of the community. It is best not to walk on the main road in front of the property as it is fairly busy.
Tips or Restaurants:
The villa has everything you need and then some. The villa provides an excellent guide book of the area with recommendations on things to see and do as well as restaurant recommendations. The dinner served at the Sorsasso Winery in the nearby town of Domaso is not to be missed.
Directions:
We travelled to the villa from the Milan central train station. We could have used better directions in order to get out of Milan. Milan is a sprawling city and it is easy to get turned around.
Check In Out:
The check-in process is very easy. The manager of the property is very kind and accomodating. She provided an excellent tour and orientation of the property upon check in.

Norman, September, 2011

Overall:
The Villa was lovely all around. A great location, excellent staff and beautiful weather. We loved it.
Enjoyed Most:
The bedrooms are very lovely, each with a fantastic bathroom. The views are wonderful.
Enjoyed Least:
It is on a very busy road so you need to drive a few minutes to find a place to walk.
Surrounding Area:
Menaggio and the Lake Como area are beautiful. Lots of places to explore and lots to do. The locals are friendly. The overall "vibe" of the area is very relaxed and focused on taking time out.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Nearest small town was Rezzonico - right outside the front door! A bar, a bank, a restaurant and a pharmacy all at hand.
Tips or Restaurants:
Definitely do a boat tour of the Lake. The food in the area is not as good as other parts of Italy but there are some great places. For a really unique and delicious night out visit Isola Comacina and the restaurant there. Don't bring much as it is all provided for you!
Directions:
GPS was helpful. Check what highway you need to take as you come out of the airport.
Check In Out:
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Check in was easy.

Roma, September, 2009

Overall:
Everyone enjoyed it and we would all love to go back. In fact, I didn't want to leave. It's a little north of the more popular tourist areas, such as Mennagio, but we liked that. Almost no other Americans and a wonderful opportunity to get to know the local people. Just say "Buon Giorno" and they could not be friendlier.
Enjoyed Most:
Where to begin -- we were 17 people and never felt crowded. Lots of privacy and places to go if you wanted to be alone. The grounds are magnificent and immaculately kept as was the villa itself. The property manager could not have been more helpful kind of like our personal concierge and the staff did a wonderful job preparing breakfast each morning and cleaning.
Enjoyed Least:
The front bedrooms were a little warm, but a small price to pay for the magnificent views of the lake.
Surrounding Area:
Lovely restaurants in Rezzonico and Aquaseria; a fantastic winery - a must-go for dinner in Domaso, Sorsasso Vineyards. The food everywhere was fresh and wonderful and the people could not have been nicer. From Mennagio and Canadenobia you can take the ferry to Bellagio and Varenna, 30 minute drive to Lugano and 1 hour and 30 minute drive to St. Moritz. We especially enjoyed hiking. I found a wonderful guide for the more adventurous and boating on the lake.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Rezzonico and Aquaseria are both within walking distance. Walking on the road is a little tricky, but there are trails that go the entire length of the lake and much safer to walk on. Also a beautiful church just past the villa that's worth visiting.
Tips or Restaurants:
Forget the packing list such as soap, sponges, toilet paper, etc. Absolutely everything was provided for - even a computer with Internet access and tennis racquets. Definitely visit Sorsasso Vineyards and a small restaurant on the lake in Aquaseria - it's the only one -- make reservations before going
