Customer Reviews

Overall experience was excellent. This is an ideal house for vacationing. Large, comfortable and fully-equipped. Superb patio and garden.
Enjoyed Most:
Spaciousness of living areas, decor, equipment, patio furniture, pool and gardens.
Enjoyed Least:
A bit challenging to communicate with key-holders who only speak French. A written welcome guide in english might help a lot.
Surrounding Area:
Good central location in SW France AquitaineGascogne provides a hub for numerous day trips Pyrenees, Basque Country, Lourdes-Tarbes, Toulouse, Carcassonne, Bordeaux, Atlantic Coast, etc. Surrounding area is famous for pates and Armagnac.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Aire Sur l'Adour is a safe and quiet town with all basic needs banks, bakeries, groceries, shops, market, restaurants. Town center is three quarters of a mile away from the house.
Tips or Restaurants:
Recently inaugurated A65 highway runs North-South to the west of town connecting Pau with vicinity of Bordeaux. This highway still not showing in some GPS and maps saves a lot of time in day trips. Good idea to bring beach/pool towels. Try to explore farms nearby for a good local flavor. Villa Toscana in downtown serves good pizza. Food is usually superb in Pays Basque St. Jean de Luz, Biarritz or Bayonne. Local wines are good but not great, try Bordeaux or Cotes du Rhone instead. Gasoline is cheaper in Carrefour and other hypermarkets. Always bring cash with you as some credit card machines gas stations, parking garages, etc. only accept cards with chip uncommon in the US
Access to the property is a bit confusing as both ways to get to the house through downtown or the stadium require several turns through narrow roads. GPS did a good job. Provided instructions would have been enough.

Roberto, June

The house was incredibly well-stocked, and very comfortable. Huge yard was a big hit with our 12-year-old kids. It was too cold to swim, but the pool looked great, and we did enjoy sitting in the sunshine and relaxing.
Enjoyed Most:
The house is quite large, and everyone had a chance to spread out and have some peace and quiet. That was very welcome after spending the previous week in a B and B where the four of us were very cozy! The washer and dryer were fantastic - best I've had in Europe. Kitchen had everything you'd want - and then some. We had fun cooking and eating the local meats and produce.
Enjoyed Least:
I wish there had been a hair dryer. One other minor thing is that there were ants in the front door area, but we were able to keep them outside for the most part.
Surrounding Area:
The kids loved the wooded area in the back of the house, and the lane was perfect for them to wander up and down. Lovely area for walks and hikes - very green.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Aire Sur l'Adour is a quick 10-15 minute walk from the house. The town isn't as quaint as others we've stayed in, but it did grow on us towards the end of the week. Local merchants are friendly, and we all enjoyed the chocolaterie and boulangerie.
Tips or Restaurants:
We didn't eat in town - we usually ate lunch out wherever we were sight-seeing, and then cooked dinner at the house. The cafe right when you come into town is in a great location, and perfect for a glass of wine or beer and people-watching. We were able to make many day-trips, including Lourdes, the Pyrenees (rode the cable car up - highly recommended), and San Sebastian, Spain. Lots of little villages around for leisurely exploring, as well as several Armagnac producers.
We used a GPS to drive all around France, and found it helpful. The directions given to the house were spot-on - no problems at all.
Check In Out:
Very punctual and quick check-in and check-out.

Diane, May

we had a great time.
Enjoyed Most:
The pool.
Enjoyed Least:
Being bitten my all the mosquitoes! The 'inspection check' before we left was quite stringent, although we got our full deposit back!
Surrounding Area:
Liked the town and location.
Nearby Events or Locales:
You could walk to Aire sur l'Adour.
Tips or Restaurants:
Bring insect repellent, also goggles for the pool. My husband got bothered by the amount of chlorine but it didn't affect me.
Just have a map. finding your way out of Bordeaux is a nightmare but the rest is easy.
