Overall:
Our overall experience was very good. The location was wonderful, though it could get a bit noisy at night as there is a popular bar accross the street. The apartment was clean and nicely appointed.
Enjoyed Most:
The location. We also liked having an apartment as opposed to a hotel as we were travelling with three people. It was nice to have two bedrooms and a kitchen.
Enjoyed Least:
There was an odor in the apartment which we believe was sewer gas, as we smelled it in other parts of the city. We learned to live with it. Editor's Note: Sometimes during periods of heavy winter rain, a sewer gas smell may be present in buildings in the historic center, particularly if the bathroom does not have a window--as is the case with this apartment.
Surrounding Area:
Everything in Florence is walking distance but we think this location was excellent due to proximity to the San Lorenzo shopping area, the Duomo, and excellent restaurants.
Nearby Events or Locales:
We did take a day trip by bus to Siena, which was lovely.
Tips or Restaurants:
We loved all the restaurants but especially I Latini. We really enjoyed going to the Florence Pub accross from the apartment to watch Football. Great bartender - Beni. Bring comfortable walking shoes.
Directions:
We took a cab from the airport. No problem at all - around 20 Euros and 20 minutes.
Check In Out:
No, it was very easy and our host was so welcoming and full of information on restaurants and sights to see.

Overall:
We were pleased with all aspects of the apartment.
Enjoyed Most:
The apartment was clean, beautifully appointed and decorated, bright and sunny, with good beds, a very useable little kitchen and helpful travelers' items such as maps and guide books. Our host, Lorenzo, is a treasure: helpful, unhurried, enthusiastic, knowledgable, charming, and available.
Enjoyed Least:
The bathroom, though charming and clean, had an inadequate shower and no place to hang towels. The shower consisted of a handheld shower head whose holding bracket was too high for those under 5'4" to reach. The water sprayed towards the wall got the mat wet. There was no place to dry the mat or the towels. Editor's Note: The owner has confirmed that he has added a rack/hook next to the washing machine for towels. There is also a towel heater on the wall. July 2012.
Surrounding Area:
It was convenient to two of the best sites in San Lorenzo (the Medici chapels--WOW) and Santa Maria Novella plus the train station and the Duomo...and best of all.. the Mercato Centrale. However, it was noisy at night especially during the White Night festival.
Tips or Restaurants:
We were very glad we had umbrella's and rain coats. Plastic bags for leftover olives/cheese etc were useful.
Directions:
We were coming from the Santa Maria Novella Station... We didn't know it was a stone's throw from there...could have walked but we got a cab.
Check In Out:
Lorenzo was wonderful...very welcoming.

Helen, May
