In the afternoon you can come home to this vacation rental in Veneto and enjoy a dip in the covered and heated swimming pool or cook your own authentic Italian meals.

The castle is located four kilometers from Monselice where there are shops, restaurants, and markets. Monselice is a town that dates back to 586 CE and features many interesting monuments and buildings from throughout the previous centuries. The Piazza Mazzini is Monselice’s main square and leads to the 12th century Santa Giustina Romanesque church, Villa Duodo, and the Carrarese Castle, a museum that today is home to many of Europe’s medieval weapons and armor. Rumor has it that the ghosts of of Jacopino de Carrara and his beloved Giudita still roam the castle today. A perfect destination for a day trip is the canal-filled city of Venice. As one of the top travel destinations in the world, Venice has plenty of amazing things to do and see. Although you may be inclined to take a gondola ride or two, be sure to visit the Grand Canal, St Mark’s Square, and the Basilica dei Frari.

Customer Reviews

Overall:
We loved this beautiful castle and winery. The hosts were so helpful. The apartment was beautifully equipped and although they kept the rustic ambiance it had all the modern conveniences.
Enjoyed Most:
We really enjoyed the beauty of the gardens and architecture of this stunning place. There is a beautiful indoor pool. The wine tasting cafe was also convenient and fun. The wine was excellent. We also enjoyed the two beautiful dogs that wandered the property and greeted guests.
Enjoyed Least:
The WiFi was not accessible in the apartment. One had to go to the gardens to get it. We were lucky that the weather was good the whole time.
Surrounding Area:
There were some great little towns close by. The drive to Venice is very easy. We also drove to Verona, a place worth seeing. We found it easy to find good restaurants, grocery and shopping within a 5 to 20 minute drive.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest small town was Monteselice. It was not within walking distance, but could be accessed by bicycle for the brave and fit.
Tips or Restaurants:
We found a great family owned Trattoria about a 4 minute drive from the Castle in Montecello. You could probably walk or bike to it. We also found a great Trattoria in the complex where the Aliper grocery is located in Albano Terme about a 15 minute drive. From the inside of the Galleria it looks like a walk up snack bar. But there is a beautiful patio outside that is hidden from the road. The food was great. It is important to be aware of the Italian custom of restaurants and stores closing at 2pm for several hours. Most restaurants do not open for dinner until 7 or 7:30 PM. If you are early birds, you will want to have snacks available or eat in.
Directions:
A GPS is a must to navigate the surrounding area. You are out in the country. The entrance road to the castle is easy to miss the first time. But once you find it, it is easy to get back.
Check In Out:
The hosts made it easy.

Overall:
Everything was fantastic! We will certainly be back.
Enjoyed Most:
The staff was so accomodating and welcoming. They helped us in every way. The facilities were better even than they appeared in the pictures. LOVED the "big BBQ" - really a 15th century room with a large fire for cooking... so much fun!
Surrounding Area:
The towns were close by and there were several of them. It gave us plenty of options for restaurants and shopping.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Monticelli and Monselice - neither really within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
The suggestions for restaurants provided by the staff were excellent. The book of information was very useful.
Directions:
Directions were fantastic! The only place in Italy that we didn't need the GPS to find the location.
Check In Out:
Wonderful!

Overall:
Really great. I was very happy with the place and would definitely recommend it. The people we dealt with were super helpful and friendly and the location was also wonderful.
Enjoyed Most:
Location, history, vistas, nicely done interior, beautiful grounds and the helpful people who took good care of us. Ilenia never got tired of our questions. Also, we liked the outdoor patio and pool.
Enjoyed Least:
The matresses were harder than we are used to.
Surrounding Area:
Everything. We had nice restaurants close by and the food was good; the owners were friendly and helpful. We were able to take good day trips to many interesting sights.
Tips or Restaurants:
Very good restraunt nearby, our favorite: Costa Di Rovigo. Owner and our server, his wife, treated us very nicely. I wish we had taken their picture. The only things you need to bring are soap, shampoo, and personal care products.
Directions:
We used GPS but the only glich was that it sent us to the back entrance of the property and the gate was locked. After one phone call, Alessandro, the property owner quickly sent someone to open the gate. After that we used the main entrance.
