About The Experience

A family vacation at this Provence villa can include visits to medieval castles, hikes through the countryside, and village-hopping throughout the region. This villa is located just one kilometer from town and a short drive from Apt, Gordes, and Bonnieux. Enjoy dining on the furnished terrace, swimming in the private pool, and taking in the views of the Provence countryside while at this accommodation.

Location Description

The property is located one kilometer from Saint-Saturnin-les-Apt, a medieval village on the base of a cliff that is marked by a windmill and the ruins of an ancient castle. Saint-Saturnin-les-Apt has restaurants, cafes, and food shops as well as a Sunday market. The main sights are the Eglise St-Etienne, Chapelle Castrale Saint-Saturnin, and several Bories, stone-huts that were once used (and still are!) by shepherds in the hills. A shop in town has maps of many hiking trails nearby. The property is centrally-located for day trips throughout Provence. Apt, less than 10 kilometers away, is a market town with a good selection of restaurants, cafes, and shops. Apt, which is considered the capital of candied fruits, hosts one of the biggest markets in the region on Saturdays. This medieval town also has an 11th century Cathedral, a Roman Theater Museum, and several annual festivals including a jazz celebration each May. Other day trip destinations can include Bonnieux, Cavaillon, and Avignon.

Customer Reviews

Overall:
Great house, well equipped, all new and modern appliances and furnishings.
Enjoyed Most:
The proximity to the village of Saint Saturnin, a lovely village. Very friendly locals. Really fabulous meals in the village! Also the hike up the hill past the village to the castle ruins was beautiful. We will be going back.
Surrounding Area:
The area is beautiful in June, good weather, and there are many historic villages nearby to enjoy.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Saint Saturnin les Apt--it's a pleasant 10-minute walk.
Tips or Restaurants:
Yes, we have rented with RentVillas before and there was fresh bread, wine, jam, and cheese awaiting us. You do need to bring everything to this house, even hand soap and dishwashing detergent. There is nothing in the house other than a little toilet paper, but you can walk to a shop in the village.
Directions:
We used our GPS. There is a gate at the house entrance and the housekeeper met us there.
Check In Out:
Just the English to French barrier as the house manager does not speak any English; her friend spoke Spanish and our children do, too, so this helped. We have some French but not enough to get the workings of the house. We figured it out as everything was pretty new. Really was not any problem.
