ExteriorDescription
This palazzo dates back to the 15th century, when the banks of the Arno River were flanked by palazzi (palaces) belonging to patrician families such as the Bardis. The edifice was modified over the centuries until the mid-19th century, when a famous architect, Enrico Poggi, endeavored to transform Florence into a capital city. He modeled the palazzo after the Lungarno Torrigiani area in order to maintain the classical renaissance color palette of cream plaster and gray “pietra serena” stone, which is visible in so many buildings throughout the city.

Overall:
Very pleasurable.
Enjoyed Most:
The view from the bedroom and the open terrace.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Difficult stairs.
Surrounding Area:
Only a block from the Ponte Vecchio on the Arno, Oltrarno side. And could avoid the crush by going east to San Niccolo.
Tips or Restaurants:
I liked the Sunday brunch at Ruffalo or some reasonable approximation just down from Porta San Niccolo.
Directions:
Took a cab.
Check In Out:
Laura was very nice.

Overall:
Nearly perfect! Great location on the River Arno overlooking the Uffizi Galleries and the Ponte Vecchio from the 360 degree view in the bedroom. Close to everything we wanted to see and all within walking distance. Perfection would have been us being able to speak Italian!
Enjoyed Most:
The sitting area between the living room and the deck - it was perfect for quiet, reflective breakfasts overlooking the hillside of Florence. The view from the bedroom is awesome - day or night! The apartment is perfectly located to hear all the cathedral bells ringing on Sunday morning - a cacophony of wondrous sounds!
Unpleasant Surprises:
The very steep and narrow stairway up to the bedroom. We decided to leave lights on at night to ensure we could see clearly if we needed to use the bathroom in the middle of the night. My partner has an artificial shoulder joint and a fall could be extremely detrimental to him.
Surrounding Area:
We could walk to everything we wanted to see while in Florence. All of our morning adventures would end up at the Piazza behind the Uffizi. A myriad of outdoor cafes serving lunch and fantastic people watching. All of our afternoon adventures would end up at the Gelato stand just east of the north end of the Ponte Vecchio - really good Gelato and the baristas were great!
Tips or Restaurants:
The Tratorria Ponte Vecchio restaurant is a must. Located just east of the north end of the bridge. They have a pear and Robiola cheese pasta appetizer that is magnificent! On the menu it's Fiocchi Ripieni al Pecorino e Pere alla Crema di Robiola e Tartufo - simply fantastic. Another great find was La Casalinga near the Pitti Palace. Neighborhood local restaurant - try their polenta lasagna - it's very good. With an appetizer each, a large carafe of red wine and our lasagna entrees and tip the bill was E 38. Another good restaurant is Ristorante di Bardi near the Ponte Vecchio. Reservations are recommended and the hostess staff is pretty snooty if you don't have a reservation - once you get beyond the hostess, the service, atmosphere and the food are well worth the price.
Directions:
We hailed a taxi at the train station and showed him our paperwork with the apartment's address on it. He seemed to drive straight there without issue.
Check In Out:
Note to international cell phone users. We had great difficulty using our phone - nothing would connect for us. After many calls back to Customer Care at Sprint, we found someone who could tell us what was going on. There is a lot of cell phone fraud in Italy. There are 3 major networks and they will drop their coverage without notice if too much fraud is detected. What you have to do is manually select one of the other networks. Be sure you know how to do this before leaving the US.

Overall:
We had a great time and would highly recommend it to others.
Enjoyed Most:
Location, the view and the terrace.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Minor irritants were the smell from the sewer vent and the sound of the building generator.
Surrounding Area:
Being slightly off the beaten tourist path but still close to everything.
Tips or Restaurants:
The kitchen was better stocked than we expected. We made frequent trips to the Magi grocer nearby.
