- About The Experience
This delightful Florence apartment is located in a lovely old tower building in Santa Croce. Clean, bright, and cheery, this short term apartment in Florence includes a terrace and is ideal for walking to all of Florence's attractions.
- Location Description
This Florence holiday accommodation is located in a restricted-traffic zone in Santa Croce, one of Florence's most characteristic neighborhoods. The apartment is on the second floor of a palazzo built in the 15th century. The palazzo is situated about two blocks from the Piazza Santa Croce and the famous Capella dei Pazzi.
Nearby Attractions: The Santa Croce quarter is located on the southeastern part of the historic center of Florence. Since the Middle Ages, it was an area specializing in leather. In fact, today it is still filled with leather shops! The large Santa Croce Church, filled with famous frescos and tombs of some of the city’s greats, is the main structure of the quarter. The piazza in front of the church is filled day and night with tourists and locals. Some of the best gelato shops and restaurants can be found in this neighborhood. Piazza dei Ciompi has a daily flea market as well as a large monthly market (last Sunday). Plaz, located across from the 16th century Loggia del Pesce is a fun and casual place to stop for a drink and live music.

- Exterior Description
This 15th century building was completely restored in 1996. It is a typical example of late medieval Florentine art. Each apartment is made secure with a door buzzer. There is an elevator servicing each floor, and there is a terrace (for use by all tenants of the building) on the second floor (if taking the stairs) or the fourth floor (if taking the lift). The reason for this discrepancy is that the ceilings in the building are very high, and some of the apartments are located on a mezzanine level between two floors.
- Interior Description
- (65 m2/699 ft2)
Third Floor (with elevator): The apartment on the second floor mezzanine (3rd floor if taking the elevator), has a double entrance from both the stairs and the elevator. The 1st level has a living room with sofas and a corner kitchenette, 1 master bedroom, and 1 bathroom with a bath tub and handheld shower. Ten steps lead to the 2nd level which has a twin-bedded room (the beds cannot be joined) that opens onto a small private terrace (10 m2/107 ft2). The kitchen is fully-equipped with pots and pans, a dishwasher, oven, gas stove, and fridge/freezer.

Overall:
Our overall experience was wonderful, would definitely stay there again.
Enjoyed Most:
We loved the roof-top terrace, had moonlight dinners up there, it was very romantic.
Enjoyed Least:
No complaints.
Surrounding Area:
Great area, close to everything. Enjoyed the building the apartment was in, wonderful old building.
Tips or Restaurants:
The restaurant below the apartment was fantastic, we highly recommend it. Fabulous gelato right around the corner. There is a Conard grocery store within walking distance just a couple of blocks, that was wonderful. Great if you want to make any meals in the apartment and enjoy them on the roof-top deck!
Directions:
Took a taxi from the train station, taxi driver knew exactly where to go.

Overall:
Overall it was just fabulous and I would go back in a heartbeat!
Enjoyed Most:
It was perfectly located in the central part of Florence within minutes walking of key locations, like the Uffizi, the Accademia, Santa Croce, the Duomo and the Ponte Vecchio.
Enjoyed Least:
Very little and not worth mentioning. My daughters and wife would have liked a full length mirror...
Surrounding Area:
As I said, in addition to being able to walk to all the key sites, the location also afforded us great restaurants and shopping. As an extra treat, Vivoli's gelato, which is apparently one of the best in Florence, was just feet away from our front door. In addition, there was a restaurant Osteria on the ground floor of our building that turned out to be a great find. A little pricey but the food and service made it well worth it.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Outside Florence there are a number of small hills towns, the closest being Fiesole. It is easily and inexpensively accessed via the bus.
Tips or Restaurants:
We found just about everything we needed. We were also surprised to find an unlimited free Internet connection in the apartment, which was nice for uploading pictures and checking email. We recommend the restaurant in the building and also one around the corner called La Maremma at Via Verdi 16.
Check In Out:
They even accommodated us with an earlier arrival. I called ahead a few days and they happily met me there at noon.
