    Customer Reviews

    Overall:
    Fantastic.
    Enjoyed Most:
The views, the pool (it was very hot), the large space for our group of 15.
    Unpleasant Surprises:
The ants, especially downstairs. It would have been nice to have been provided with fans as it was very hot to sleep, especially in rooms without cross ventilation...even if you charged a bit more for the extra electricity.
    Surrounding Area:
Tuscany, what's not to enjoy. But I think the Barberino is located in an especially beautiful area. The towns Greve, Panzano, Radda, Castellina in Chianti and Monteriggioni were great, as was Certaldo Alto.
    Nearby Events or Locales:
We did get into Barberino a lot. Very good for shopping, etc.
    Tips or Restaurants:
All the restaurants were excellent, but we mostly cooked in. Our group likes meat, so they liked very much the 30 euro fixed meal with lots of meat, about 8 courses, wine, water, etc, dessert, in a lovely, lovely place with AC. Don't remember the name, but it's famous and is in Panzano and run by the butcher right across the street. He is very colorful and delightful. After dinner, we all went back to the butcher shop and had grappa!
    Directions:
No comments. the directions were as good as they could be in the remote area.
    Check In Out:
The young woman who checked us in-out was extremely pleasant and efficient. And the place looked immaculate. She gave us back our deposit minus the cleaning, and there were no hidden or extra charges, which was delightful.

    Overall:
The house, the location, panoramic views and the surrounding area exceeded our expectations. We had a fantastic visit and didn't want to leave !
    Enjoyed Most:
The awesome view, the large outdoor spaces, the pool and huge living space in and around the house for eating and relaxing. You really felt like you where in a different world. Very authentic experience.
    Unpleasant Surprises:
No major issues. The person who met us at the house did not speak much English, however, she was very nice and everything worked out fine. Make sure you confirm that hot water is turned on and how to use kitchen appliances and washing machine.
    Surrounding Area:
The beautiful views of the countryside - lots of olive groves and vineyards, little hill towns and good proximity to Florence and Siena.
    Nearby Events or Locales:
Tavernelle had the closet food store or Coop. You could buy everything you need there. A 1/2 day trip to Certaldo Alto was well worth it. Need to drive to both.
    Tips or Restaurants:
Bring or rent a GPS - an absolute must for getting around. Bring ziplock bags and large garbage bags. You can buy anything else you need at the Coop. Roads are a little bit of a challenge, so the smaller the rental car the better. We had Giuseppina come in and cook dinner for us one night it was delicious. If you make a left out of the villa and head towards Certaldo about 10 minutes there is a restaurant on the right called Pizzeria Meroni. The food is inexpensive and fantastic. We ate there two nights in a row and the outdoor seating view is great.
    Check In Out:
Danielle was on-time for our check-out as we had to leave early to catch a train in Florence and there were no surprises. The cleaning fee was as agreed, we received our deposit back, etc..

    Overall:
    Our overall experience was excellent.
    Enjoyed Most:
The views, the size, the position, the condition of the property. The local wine and olive oil are very good.
    Unpleasant Surprises:
It turned out that the girl who met us was new, and so was not well versed in how to help us. For example, she had not told us how to use the phone at the villa for reporting a problem with lack of hot water. We discovered how to turn the hot water on the next morning by ourselves. The washing machine was not easy to operate and took a long time.
    Surrounding Area:
The proximity of everything was great. The Coops in Certaldo Poggibonsi were very good. Trains from Certaldo to bigger towns were good. The restaurant up the road, Wilma's, was a godsend! It was only about a 300 mt walk. The local ladies, Francesca and Maria, were wonderful, although the first evening meal was better than the second one.
    Nearby Events or Locales:
Barberino Val D'Elsa is not within walking distance - about 7 minute drive. Certaldo, a much bigger town, was about 15 minutes in the other direction.
    Tips or Restaurants:
Bring a hairdryer. There is no coffee, tea, sugar, salt and pepper provided. Wilma's is a great local restaurant providing typical Tuscan fare. You can also purchase wine to take away if you want to.
    Directions:
We hired a GPS with our car it got very confused as there are a variety of ways of numbering properties in Tuscany. The sign at the gate is very small.
