LocationDescription
The nearest town to this apartment is Panzano, a charming little village that began as a medieval castle, and still retains some of the walls and towers even today. It is notable for a number of local restaurants that are simply divine. Every Sunday morning (until 1 pm) a market is held on the main square, so you'll be able to get your flowers, vegetables, fruit, meat, cheese, and everything else for the week! There are also some very unique festivals and events throughout the year in the area (see nearby attractions, below). This is a great place to eat out and to relax while enjoying local life. Greve in Chianti, just a few minutes' drive away, is a little town with a cute market square lined with porticos and shops, the oldest part of the city from the time when it operated as a stopping place between Florence and Siena. The former convent of San Francesco also hosts and art museum... And don't miss Saturday market in the square! The area surrounding Greve is dotted with little medieval villages, great for exploration, and there are also numerous "castellos" in the countryside that host wine tasting. Florence and Siena are both easily accessible from this apartment in Tuscany, a great way to hit both of these fantastic destinations.

Questions and Answers From Our Clients
(Click the question to view the answer)
Q: Hi! We have 2 boys, ages 1 and 3, and we're looking for a place for March and April. Do you think Piccola Torre would be kid friendly? Would our boys have places to play during the day without disturbing others? Are there any dogs on the property?
Thank you.
A: We rented the property during Sept. 2001 and it was a beatiful place to stay. We stayed in the tower bedroom, which had huge open-air windows (no screens). The bedrooms are on floor 2 and floor 3 (steps going up). There was a lot of land around the area and very low-traffic country roads (playing with kids would be fine) and there were no dogs at that time. There is also an outdoor swimming pool, which was not fenced at the time. Kids would be fine as long as you keep close tabs on them.
A: Hi Catherine,
We really enjoyed this property, and some of the other guests had infant children. There were no dogs on the property to my knowledge. There is no lawn or playground area other than the pool, but I would suspect no one would mind if the kids played in the olive grove next to the pool. My only question would be whether the grove is treated with pesticides - hopefully not. I don't know much about olive farming! Panzano is only a 5 min drive away and I would be surprised if there is not a playground there. Best - Joe

Overall:
We had high expectations for our experience at this property and we were extremely happy with what we got. The property is beautiful and well maintained. The accommodations were better than expected and better than what the pictures depict. The views are amazing! The service received from Rent Villas and the Key Holder were great. We simply had a wonderful time and it was well worth the price paid!
Enjoyed Most:
The view was outstanding. I was such a pleasure to wake up every morning and look out our window at such a spectacular site!
Additionally, a couple of the local restaurants really made our visit special!!
Unpleasant Surprises:
It seemed like it took a long time to get places. The property is situated at a very high elevation in the mountains which contributes greatly to its appeal. That said, you have to take slow, winding roads to get anywhere which took longer than expected. It's a good 'trade-off' I suppose.
Surrounding Area:
We visited Cinque Terre and Siena as well as a couple of other small towns. We enjoyed them all! Cinque Terre was especially wonderful but was a bit of a trek to get there and back. Do your research!
Nearby Events or Locales:
Panzano was the closest town. It is a small town with a couple of great restaurants in town and in the surrounding area. It was not within walking distance but was a short driving distance away 5 mins. Keep in mind afternoon siestas in Italy when all businesses close between 1-4pm usually. Also, services and stores are limited on Sundays! As Canadians, this was not something we were used too!
Tips or Restaurants:
If you expect to partake in a few beverages, bring an ice tray! You can't buy ice at the grocery store and there is only a small ice tray in the freezer that couldn't keep up with the four of us!!
Check In Out:
Key holder was very helpful and friendly.

Overall:
Excellent, it's like a piece of heaven on earth. It's really a place to relax and enjoy good wine and food.
Enjoyed Most:
The views were spectacular from the top room of the tower. You could see all the wineries surrounding the property, and waking up with this views is breathtaking.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Too many stairs, but being able to see the surroundings is so worth it.
Surrounding Area:
The calm, the beauty...
Nearby Events or Locales:
Panzano is about 3.5 km away, but I did run to it every other day, for a breathtaking jogging time.
Tips or Restaurants:
Don't forget to get a GPS on the car, bring your swimsuit because the pool is very refreshing when the weather is very hot. Basically all the restaurants in the area are good so not to worry.
Directions:
Once Panzano is located all the directions are excellent. No GPS until the second day, so I did have a hard time finding it at night.
Check In Out:
Everything was smooth.

Overall:
We enjoyed our villa experience quite a lot.
Enjoyed Most:
The view from the upper bedroom was extraordinary. Also, the surrounding areas, the countryside and the vineyards were really beautiful and peaceful. We enjoyed just walking around the immediate area.
Unpleasant Surprises:
The sitting area needs better lighting and I believe would be a little small for four. we were only two so that was not a problem for us. The kitchen is also somewhat cramped. There are quite a few stairs - 54 to get to the top. I was not really bothered by this, but it could be an issue for some folks.
Surrounding Area:
Very beautiful and idyllic. It had a nice, calming affect, especially if you are used to the intensity of city life. The people in the area were exceptionally nice and helpful when we had questions.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Panzano was about 5-6 kilometers away. It is walkable if you're in the mood for a hike. We did not walk it.
Tips or Restaurants:
The villa was more well equipped than we expected from the info we got. The keyholder took the time to show us around and explain how everything worked. You can buy what you need in Panzano, even on Sunday when there is an open air market and a few stores are open. We ate at Il Giardino a couple times - very good. There is a washer at the villa but it is small and no dryer. If you drive to Greve, about 15 minutes away, there is a self-service laundromat.
Directions:
Did not use GPS. Once we got our bearings after the first day we were able to get to and from the property without any problem.
Check In Out:
The keyholder was very nice and accommodating. All we had to provide was a copy of our passports and she checked us in. The villa was well equipped and clean when we got there. Only a couple of light bulbs didn't work. We paid 50 euros for the cleaning which didn't seem unreasonable. she also welcomed us with a free bottle of wine from the vineyard adjacent to the villa.
