Q: If you rented the villa for a week in Tuscany would you see Florence for 2 days during that time or spend a few days afterward in Florence before spending 3 days in Rome?
What were your favorite moderately-priced restaurants in the Tuscany region?
What were your favorite wines in the Tuscany region?
What were your favorite towns to visit in Tuscany and why?
What was not to be missed while visiting the Tuscany region?
Do you have any tips on finding the property?
A: Florence was the first priority for me, as a student of art history there were just too many specific masterpieces in Florence that I was dying to view. We did drive into Florence two days of our week. We also visted Assisi, Arrezzo, and Vallenbrosa. As far as places to eat and visit I found the rough guides invaluable. the food in Italy is great wherever you go. Montalcino is my favorite wine but I have to say we never had a unpleasant bottle of wine anywhere.
Q: 1.Serena sleeps 4 but photos show chairs for 2 in the living room. Is there comfortable seating for the relaxing for 3 adults?
2. someone mentioned inadequate clothes washing machine and drying equipment. Comments?
A: 1. That may be the one downside to the villa. There were only 2 chairs, so 3 adults could be problematic. An additional sofa or so would be nice. However, the caretaker was extremely helpful and prompt, and I bet he would make additional arrangements to accomodate needs if contacted.
2. The washing machine worked fine for me. There is no dryer, but the caretaker provided plenty of drying racks and it worked out great.

Overall:
Serena is located in a quiet and peaceful setting. The old church (consecrated in 1186) adjacent to the villa was very intriguing. It was lit at night, but it was not open to the public. There was a service inside on Sunday morning.
Enjoyed Most:
The quiet and peace. The bathrooms were clean and convenient.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Comments from previous travelers had made us aware that the living - kitchen area was small for four adults. The kitchen was sparsely furnished, and there was no conventional or microwave oven... only a cooktop. The heat system was programmed to our specifications by the owner when we arrived. We were not able to make any adjustments after that... even when we returned to the villa early one day due to rain, and the villa was cold. It was not comfortable until the program turned on the system.
Surrounding Area:
We didn't spend much time in the house, because we made day trips to Montalcino, Siena, Asciano, Volterra, and Pienza.
Tips or Restaurants:
The osteria in nearby Ville di Corsano had delicious evening meals.

Overall:
We had a wonderful relaxing break - it was everything we could ever have imagined.
Enjoyed Most:
The beautiful views over the surrounding countryside
Unpleasant Surprises:
Having to leave.
Surrounding Area:
Walking into town and enjoying the views. Also good proximity to many local attractions.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ville di Corsano is within walking distance. There is also another small village Rada a little further in the other direction where there is a good restaurant - the owner is very friendly and they have a very cool dog.
Tips or Restaurants:
Buy dish detergent before you arrive.

Overall:
We enjoyed it very much.
Enjoyed Most:
The location in the country with the church next door, and the fine way the owner had remodeled the hay loft for the use of visitors staying in the community. The roses, the iris, the poppies, the setting in the rolling hills.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Getting out of the driveway onto the main road, was very hard to see. The resident dog was very lonesome when his master and family were not at home, and made his resentment known by barking so much my artist son had trouble concentrating.
Surrounding Area:
The rolling meadows and the villas on the tops of the green green hills.
Tips or Restaurants:
All we needed, except for food, was provided in the house.
Directions:
Direction signs in Italy are smaller than we are used to in the US, so one had to drive more slowly to be able to read them, and that is not easy in a country where drivers seem to keep their foot to the floor, curves or no curves, speed limits entirely disregarded.
Check In Out:
We left early in the day, so we notified the owner and he came to settle our account the evening before. It worked out well.
