If you are looking for a luxury villa rental on the coast of Spain for a large group of friends or family, look no further! This luxury villa near Gibraltar offers space, light, beautiful grounds, sea views, privacy, and walking distance to a sandy beach. There is even a wonderful cook available. If you can tear yourself away from this villa rental in Spain, there are numerous day trips to such places as Gibraltar, Sevilla, Marbella, Ronda, and Tangier, Morocco. If you are a golfer, there are beautiful golf courses nearby.
LocationDescription
The villa is located just 750 meters from the beach and offers 180-degree views of the sea, Gibraltar, Africa, and the Sierra Nevada. The local village is one kilometer away (about a 10-minute drive), and has good restaurants, supermarkets, and services. The beach in front of Sotogrande (about three kilometers long) is clean, well-maintained, and has three beach clubs.

ExteriorDescription
(4500m2) This beautiful villa was rebuilt in 2000. It has a large mature garden with a heated swimming pool (6m x 12m in length, 1.5 to 2.5m in depth) facing the ocean and Africa. The house is 60 meters above the sea, one of the highest in Sotogrande, and the view over a cork tree forest is totally unobstructed. The property itself has several old cork trees, palm trees, and other Mediterranean vegetation. On the back side of the villa is a second garden with large pine and fruit trees. There are several outdoor tables with chairs and numerous chaise lounges. The neighbors on either side are about 100 meters away, and local traffic is limited, reducing noise. There is parking space for 6 cars on the property.
InteriorDescription
(800 m2) The villa offers all modern amenities.
Basement: A staircase leads down to a home cinema room and a games room with a new billiard's table. The home cinema room has a couch, chairs, TV, DVD player, and CD player and the games room has a snooker table as well as a bar with stools.
Ground floor: There are two large living rooms on this floor. The first living room (72 m2) has two large sofas facing the fireplace, a bridge table with chairs, and a library area. The second living room (45 m2) has a sofa, TV, arm chair, a large table with 6 chairs, and a fireplace. There is a dining room and a fully-equipped kitchen an oven, dishwasher, and washing machine. There are five double bedrooms (each with two double beds that are side by side but can be separated upon request) with en suite bathrooms, and 2 single bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. Some bedrooms are facing the sea, and each has a telephone, TV and internet access (guests must bring their own computer).
First Floor: There is a large master bedroom (200m2) with two king-size beds and an en suite bathroom with shower and separate tub. There is a large terrace (200 m2) with wonderful views of the sea.

Available Amenities: Air conditioning, heating, satellite TV, wireless internet connection, fax machine, stereo, dishwasher, two washing machines, one dryer, two irons, hair dryers, window screens on bedrooms windows, safe boxes, heated swimming pool (open March to October). There is a gardener for the grounds and pool, a housekeeper six days per week (9:30am to 3:00pm), and a cook for breakfast and lunch six days per week (9:00am to 4:00pm). A light welcome meal will be prepared on the day of arrival.

Nearby attractions: There are six golf courses within a ten-minute drive, 3 of which are considered to be some of the most beautiful in the world (Valderama, Sotogrande and San Roque). The property is within walking distance from the sea, tennis courts, the marina, and horse riding facilities. Each beach club offers restaurants, bars, and attractions for children. A boat can be arranged from the Sotogrande Marina. Tangier (Morocco) is 1 hour away by a large ferry boat from Tarifa.

Overall:
The villa has a lot of charm. After the air conditioning was finally fixed the experience was very good.
Enjoyed Most:
The location was excellent.
Unpleasant Surprises:
It would have been much nicer if a cook had been available for the evening meals. The recreation room in the basement of the villa did not have air conditioning.
There was no English language television on any of the TVs in the living room or any of the bedrooms.
Laundry facilities were poor. Editor's Note: If the client wants more staff hours, including the cook, than listed in the description, he can request it at his own expense. There is new AC in every room, including the home cinema and bar room. Sky with CNN, BBC and 60 other English channels are available in the home cinema; English channels are also available now in the living room and 3 bedrooms. There are two new washing machines (they are changed every two years) and one dryer.
Surrounding Area:
Convenient to Southern Spain and day tripping.

Sotogrande was not within walking distance.

Overall:
Our group of 14 adults all loved our time at the villa. We had enough privacy with great common surroundings. The location was out of the way of the high density areas of Costa del Sol, but developed enough to have good restaurants, great golf, and lots of sights of Spain.
Enjoyed Most:
The beautiful views were the best.
Unpleasant Surprises:
It needs a coat and new and more screens, but otherwise was great. Editor's Note: Because of the salt air, the villa is repainted every 4 years; will be repainted November 2008.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Sotogrande is a planned-developed community, but a little too far to walk. It is a short drive.
Tips or Restaurants:
The restaurants at Sotogrande were good, but the 2 meals we had Jose arrange for us at the villa were the best and most fun.

Peace and quiet, large public rooms, staff very attentive to our needs.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Permanent cook not available, misunderstanding about maid service hours, TV did not work. Editor's Note: 4 new TVs have been installed - November 2008

Local golf courses, Gibraltar, Marbella.
Tips or Restaurants:
If you do not enjoy dining at late hours, make sure that the management and staff understand your needs and are able to adjust their hours accordingly.
