If this sounds like the ideal Italian villa vacation, this villa in Tuscany, Italy, is the choice for you. ExteriorDescription

(250 hectares) This villa in Tuscany, which has been owned by the same family since the 17th century, is part of a 13th century hamlet that includes an old farmhouse, wine cellars, olive oil mills, a carpenter shop, a small church, and stables. The property contains vineyards that produce a wonderful Chianti Classico, olive trees (which produce a tasty extra virgin olive oil), hay fields, and woods. The estate offers a view of rolling hills, the walled town of Monteriggioni, and in the distance, the towers of San Gimignano. Cypress trees line the unpaved, 500 meter driveway to the villa. The private area surrounding the villa consists of an Italian garden equipped with large sunshades, wooden deck chairs, and a marble table with wrought iron chairs for eight people. The swimming pool is surrounded by classical statues, and there is a bocce court in the back garden. There is ample room for parking on the property. The friendly and hospitable owners live on the third floor of the villa (with a separate entrance), and the guardians, as well as other farmers, live on the estate. The owners' dogs have their own enclosed garden; however, they can be heard during their daily walks on the property!
Besides this villa (which can accommodate eight people), there are other properties available for rent on the same Tuscan estate. There is a farmhouse (sleeps 12) and another farmhouse (sleeps 12, or two units that sleep four and eight). The entire estate can accommodate a total of 32 people. There is ample room for parking on the property. Overall, the house is a perfect retreat for family farmhouse vacations in Italy.

Questions and Answers From Our Clients

(Click the question to view the answer)
Q: I'm an artist, a landscape painter, the most important thing is: Does it have great views, distant ground, and high mountains?

A: I stayed at the villa for 7 days in June 2004. The villa definitely has great views and distant ground, it is essentially on a knoll that looks out over the surrounding valley. I would say it does not, however, have high mountains, but one persons high mountains may not be anothers. There are mountains surrounding the valley, but theyare not "alp" type mountains, as that is not the terrain of the Tuscan area. I am an engineer, and not an artist, but I would conclude with the statement that I cannot imagine that the views over to the town of Monteriggioni out the kitchen area and the overlook area next to the villa would not be very stimulating to an artist. Additionally, the owners are very gracious and genuine down to earth people, who have a lot of pride about what they have there and rightly so. I would personally return to the same villa when I return to Tuscany.

A: Villa Monteriggioni has specatucular views of the town of Monteriggioni, gorgeous vistas of the surrounding hillsides and overall fantastic surroundings. If I were an artist - this should not be missed.

Customer Reviews

Overall:
I would and already have recommended the villa to anyone. My experience with your firm was excellent. When I return to Tuscany I intend to stay at the same location.
Enjoyed Most:
The ambiance, the history, and the location.
Unpleasant Surprises:
Swimming pool was not very convenient or useful.
Surrounding Area:
The view, convenience for grocery shopping, and convenience to the areas we were interested in touring.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Monteriggioni, yes
Tips or Restaurants:
Future guests should be aware of the presence of the large dogs, not an issue for us, but I would be surprised if it is not for some people. The restaurant at Monteriggioni was one of our best meals in Tuscany. The cooking class at the villa was a very good time for everyone.
