Customer Reviews

Overall:
Very good.
Enjoyed Most:
Perfect for two couples since it has two similar bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. Also, quiet at night.
Enjoyed Least:
Lack of bright lighting in the dining area.
Surrounding Area:
Natural beauty.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ronda, a short drive, not walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Tapas de Locos and El Muelle de Arriate are fabulous.

Linda, October

Overall:
It was a great week.
Enjoyed Most:
The villa was so well-equipped. Everything you could want, and in exactly the logical place. A very nice welcome basket with breakfast supplies, candy, wine, etc.
Surrounding Area:
Easy access to Ronda and well located for daytripping throughout the region.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ronda, but not really a walkable route. But there are good country walks directly from the property.
Tips or Restaurants:
Maria and Mike recommended "Muelle di Arriate" (also known as "Frank's Place") in nearby Arriate for our first dinner. It was wonderful, and we returned for our last lunch.
Directions:
My only slightly out-of-date GPS was very confused by new road construction in the area, so we quickly reverted to the written directions and they were "spot on".

Paul, May

Overall:
Great location to see the Pueblos Blancos and surrounding area.
Enjoyed Most:
Close proximity to places of interest and very comfortable to come back to each evening. Space and layout of house was very good. Good working appliances. Good reading material and maps of the area.
Enjoyed Least:
Hedge surrounding property could be trimmed down to enhance view. We would have liked to have had a TV.
Surrounding Area:
Pueblos Blancos and Ronda were very enjoyable to visit; all offered good restaurants for lunch and dinner.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ronda not within walking distance but just a 10-minute drive to town.
Tips or Restaurants:
Parador in Ronda for lunch. Enjoy as much of surrounding towns as you can as they all have something different to offer. Don't miss Setenil!
Check In Out:
Mike and Maria were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed visiting with them.

Leroy, September

Overall:
We had a lovely relaxing time at Villa Alba. The villa, garden and pool were all fantastic!
Enjoyed Most:
The swimming pool! It was very hot when we were there and there was nothing better than coming back to the villa after being out for the day, and relaxing by our lovely private pool.
Enjoyed Least:
I honestly can't think of a single thing we didn't like.
Surrounding Area:
We loved being close to Ronda and the rest of the White Towns. The old part of Ronda is just lovely and great for exploring. We highly recommend the Monodragon Palace Ronda Historical Museum, and the 'Cueva de la Pileta' caves just out of Ronda.
Nearby Events or Locales:
The nearest town is Ronda - about 10 minutes away by car.
Tips or Restaurants:
We found it easier to cook at the villa most nights (there are several good supermarkets in Ronda), but we did eat out out a couple of times in town. Calle Nueva (one of the streets coming off Plaza de Espana) has some nice restaurants and bars. We also had a good meal at one of the restaurants overlooking the new bridge (and it wasn't too expensive!)
Directions:
We didn't really have any problems finding the villa. Yes, we did use a GPS
Check In Out:
Maria and her husband Mike were very welcoming! A lovely friendly couple and very knowledgable about the local area etc.

Karen, July

Overall:
Fabulous. Great area. Wonderful house/cottage. Great weather. Central location.
Enjoyed Most:
Plenty of space in cottage and super garden/pool.
Enjoyed Least:
No complaints, really. Other people commented on the occasional train....we thought it was quiet and interesting the few times a day it actually went by.
Surrounding Area:
2 hour beautiful drive (or less) to everywhere: Sevilla, Granada, Cordoba, Cadiz, Tarifa (ferry to Morocco). Ronda is delightful and the mountains are breathtaking.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ronda - not within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
Great base of operations for seeing the major destinations in the region.
Directions:
I used a GPS in my rental car. This was worth the cost and made night travelling especially easy.
Check In Out:
Caretakers were friendly, helpful, unobtrusive and more than willing to offer suggestions.

Martin, July

Overall:
Serene. The property is better than depicted. Welcomed with homemade, warm bread.
Enjoyed Most:
House was impeccable. Beautiful, well appointed and bedrooms were private.
Surrounding Area:
Close to Ronda. 10-minute drive. The area surrounding was beautiful.
Tips or Restaurants:
Better to cook at the house. Restaurant food in restaurants, with few exceptions, not so good.
Directions:
Had a GPS. Signage is poor. Maria met us at the train station in Ronda and guided us to the villa. Coordinates for GPS would be helpful.

Ralph, September

Overall:
My wife and I and our grown children had a nice stay in the villa, using it as a jumping off point for trips to Gibraltar, Granada, Sevilla, and the White Towns. The villa is close to Ronda, which is a very nice town.
Enjoyed Most:
Lovely villa with good-sized living room, kitchen, and bedrooms. Nice views, well-stocked refrigerator, helpful host. Pleasant yard and patio and the weather was great - sunny dry, temps in high 60's F.
Enjoyed Least:
Directions to property were hard to follow and our Garmin didn't have all the addresses and roads of places we wanted to go because of new road construction. your Garmin before going.
Surrounding Area:
Ronda is a nice medium-sized town with beautiful scenery and charming village. Mountains and white towns, Grazelema and Zaharas.
Tips or Restaurants:
Pretty well stocked for food, good supermarket in Ronda.

Richard, April

Overall:
Wonderful.
Enjoyed Most:
The amenities of the house made for a very nice stay. The owner is very nice and has been renting for a long time. She provides plenty of food: pasta, coffee, tea, milk, fruit, bread at the villa upon arrival, so that you don't have to worry about grocery shopping the first day. She also rents out movies and has a nice selection.
Enjoyed Least:
The occasional train going behind the house, but it was never loud and did not come by often.
Surrounding Area:
Mountains and Ronda itself.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ronda is a great town. It is very clean and safe as well. Ronda is conveniently located between multiple destinations like Granada, Sevilla, and Malaga, which also makes it a great base to be located.
Tips or Restaurants:
This property is fantastic. We traveled with an 18-month old and she provided a crib, high chair, and even had some toys and kids movies on the property.
Directions:
The directions start from Malaga, and since we were driving from Madrid we had to use a GPS. However, once our directions linked up her directions, they were perfect.
Check In Out:
The owner was very friendly and inviting to us upon arrival. She makes everything very easy and was always accessible to us if we had any questions or needed anything.

Alistair, November

Overall:
My wife and I just returned from Ronda and a week in Villa Alba. We have had some tremendous vacations, especially since we started our international travels, but I'm not sure we've had any better than this one. I don't know how much of it had to do with the area, which is unbelievable, or the villa and the wonderful hostess, Caro, but it was a very special week. We'll be back, and will stay longer!

Alec, September

Overall:
Relaxing.
Enjoyed Most:
Beautiful grounds.
Enjoyed Least:
Next to a railway line which was not too bad, but the entry road was pretty rough.
Surrounding Area:
Ronda is beautiful and fascinating.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ronda was about a 5 minute drive.
Check In Out:
Went very smoothly.

Anita, June

Overall:
It was a wonderful place to stay - very comfortable, well stocked and attractive.
Enjoyed Most:
The villa was beautifully appointed and the pool was lovely. The patio area was very nice and the hostess was helpful and friendly.
Enjoyed Least:
The view of the surrounding area was limited, but it was very private.
Surrounding Area:
There are numerous places to visit from larger towns like Granada, to small villages and, of course, Ronda itself. The roads were very good and the train trip to Granada was on time and convenient.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ronda is 10 minutes away, but you will need a car to drive into Ronda.
Tips or Restaurants:
The villa was amazingly complete in terms of kitchen items and staples. The home owner put eggs, milk and OJ and other items in the fridge upon our arrival. There was even plenty of sugar, tea and a good kettle. As for restaurants in the area, the owner had very good suggestions. We especially liked the restaurant called Molino el Santo in Banojan, an old mill next to a stream, and El Morabito in Ronda which has a spectacular view.
Directions:
We drove from Seville and the route to Ronda is very well marked. We just used a Michelin map. The home owner also sent printed directions through Rent Villas.

Sally, June

Overall:
It has been one of our best vacations. Despite the fact that the weather in Andalusia was unusually cold and rainy, it was a wonderful experience. The villa was very cozy and well equipped. The owner was very helpful and concerned that we did not have the perfect weather.
Enjoyed Most:
Location beautiful surroundings and about 1 1/2 hours from everywhere. We had wonderful day trips to most of the "Pueblos Blancos" and visited Malaga and Jerez. Also the villa was quite beautiful.
Enjoyed Least:
Due to the weather the roads leading to the property were very muddy. It made it all the more exciting to arrive at home every night!
Surrounding Area:
This area of Andalucia, known as the route of the "Pueblos Blancos" is really worth the trip. Lots of good places to eat.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ronda was the nearest town. Many supermarkets, stores, etc.
Tips or Restaurants:
You really don't need to bring anything. There was even a hair dryer in the wardrobe and a portable crib in the second guest room. This would be an ideal place for a young family to spend a week in the summer, with the swimming pool right in the garden. Tapas "La Tradicional" was excellent and also other restaurants like "Mesón Astorga" in Malaga and "Mesón Guadarnés" in San Roque near Algeciras. Keep in mind that the hours for restaurants in Spain are very different than in the U.S. Most places will not open their doors for dinner until 900 pm. Also, most stores close for lunch until 2:00-4:00pm. Take it easy and enjoy their pace... after all, you are in vacation!
Directions:
The owner did a great job, as the entrance to the secondary road is hidden in a dangerous turn of the highway. We looked it up on Google Earth and had a picture of the turn to look for. Great help! It is easier to enter coming from Ronda, direction Seville. I would say that coming into Ronda from Seville it is not possible to turn left at that turn. The owner advises to turn around and come back to the turn.
Check In Out:
Very helpful, amiable host. We could tell she was genuinely happy to have us there.

Irene, March

Overall:
Great getaway in Andalusia.
Enjoyed Most:
The location is central to many great sites.
Enjoyed Least:
No complaints.
Surrounding Area:
The pueblas blancas -- white towns -- picturesque countryside.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ronda is about 5 minutes drive away. You need a car to stay here.
Tips or Restaurants:
Caro, the property owner, will cook you dinner for a reasonable price. Very nice way to spend a relaxing evening.
Directions:
The turn-off from the main road to Ronda is a dangerous left-hand turn into oncoming traffic on a curve. The directions to the property warn you of this! Until you're used to stretch of road, it's better to pass the turn-off, go to the next intersection, and double back. Then approach it as a right-hand turn, which is safer.

William, December

Overall:
Very good.
Enjoyed Most:
The backyard. The description sounded like it was a shared pool. In fact, the entire back yard is fenced and covered with plantings, and there is a separate swimming pool for each property.
Enjoyed Least:
Bed a little short for my tall husband.
Surrounding Area:
Hiking and easy access to Ronda.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ronda is not within walking distance but a quick drive.
Check In Out:
Appreciated the warm welcome and departure.

Janet, May

Overall:
The four of us had a wonderful time - although the weather could have been better! The owner is a lovely woman and a delightful hostess. Very private, although there is a train that runs nearby several times during the day and night but was not a problem for us. Easy to access many of the White Towns and especially Ronda!
Enjoyed Most:
Peacefulness, garden, pool.
Enjoyed Least:
Would have been nice to get clean towels at least once during our stay.
Surrounding Area:
Easily accessible - beautiful countryside.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ronda, not within walking distance, is a 10-minute drive away.
Tips or Restaurants:
The house is fully equipped. There is even food in the pantry and a bottle of wine for our arrival. Certainly no need to bring a sharp knife, cutting board, or scrub sponges, etc! The owner cooked for us two nights - a gourmet cook, she is - with delicious meals and a wonderful pavlova for dessert. Definitely treat yourself to one of her home cooked meals!!!

John, May

Overall:
A wonderful experience. this property exceeded out expectations in every way - countryside setting, furnishings, kitchen, baths - all of it! The outdoor areas are simply lovely.
Enjoyed Most:
The peace, quiet and charming atmosphere.
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing!
Surrounding Area:
It was wonderful to have the rolling farmland on one side where we delighted in watching the sheepherders round up their sheep in the evening. Beautiful views of the countryside abound.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Rondo - not walking distance, but a quick trip. Town is lovely, though very crowded and parking is difficult. Parking lots help.
Tips or Restaurants:
This place is so well equipped that there wasn't anything we wished we had. We had a wonderful lunch at a small hotel in the little town of Benojan sp? about 10 km away. Restaurant is in a lovely inn on a stream where we ate on terrace with stream rushing by. Name ? Had "Molina" in the name "mill".
Directions:
We called the owner from tourist center in Ronda and she came and led us to the property.
Check In Out:
We were so pleasantly surprised to find that the owner has stocked the kitchen with breakfast items - including bacon, eggs, fruit, juice, etc. She is a delightful person and attentive to anything we could possibly have needed. The villa reflects her wonderful taste and care for her tenants.

Mary, May

Overall:
I want to go back with other family members. The second house for rent that sleeps 6 was beautiful. I could bring my daughter, son in law and grandson. Beautiful, relaxing property.
Enjoyed Most:
The whole thing. out of town, very rustic but classy. wonderful, and private.
Enjoyed Least:
No dislikes.
Surrounding Area:
The mountains, close to Ronda, did some day trips and returned home in time for dinner.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ronda was within a short drive.
Tips or Restaurants:
Ronda is full of restaurants. Do eat overlooking the gorge. Shopping is good. Also, out best meal was in Zahara. Overlooking the blue, man-made lake. Wonderful people and food!

Stephanie, August

Overall:
We had a wonderful time. It really worked out great for our two families - we were 9 people. One family rented Villa Alba and the other rented Villa Adora. We really enjoyed having the pool for the kids to hang out in and enjoy. Everything worked out really well!
Enjoyed Most:
Loved the area.

Brad, June

Enjoyed Most:
Location outside Ronda. Horses and sheep nearby. Very good villa amenities and very well stocked.
Enjoyed Least:
Broken waste water system.
Surrounding Area:
Beautiful countryside and the town of Ronda.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ronda. No but an easy drive.
Tips or Restaurants:
Traga Tapas was very good. Villa is completely outfitted for your stay. Bring insect repellant.

Enjoyed Most:
The location was outstanding, the views and peaceful countryside were fantastic!
Enjoyed Least:
Nothing.
Surrounding Area:
The whole area is convenient for exploring the Pueblo Blancas.
Tips or Restaurants:
The property manager had food waiting for us upon our arrival! There were books, movies for rent, enough toilet paper, and some toys for our kids as well. We brought an IPOD with a portable stereo for music. There are many good restaurants in the main square in Ronda.
Directions:
Make sure you get directions back to the airport from the villa before you start back.

Kirk, April

Overall:
A great location for so many of the cities in southern Spain. Granada was an easy drive in one day and a tour of the Alhambra. The city of Seville was a 2 hour drive, though we did not go there. Parking in the larger cities might be challenging, so we stayed in the mountain areas of Andalucia. A very nice experience.
Enjoyed Most:
We loved the privacy and the setting.
Surrounding Area:
We loved the national parks within driving distance. The route of the white villages was lovely. Also the town of Ronda had a great deal to see and do.
Nearby Events or Locales:
Ronda Spain. It was not within walking distance.
Tips or Restaurants:
The property manager owner was excellent. A welcome basket of fruit was there at our arrival as well as food in the refrigerator that was just what we needed ---some of which was enough for the entire stay. Also there were the necessary detergents, etc., for washing clothes and dishes. It was quite nice.
Check In Out:
The property manager was just great. She was most helpful and there to make our stay as pleasant as possible. She has a good knowledge of the area knowing the driving distances, etc, and information that a visitor needs to know in Spain.
